Einar didn't have any work to do today, and Caitlyn had mentioned that she was taking on a mentorship position and seemed kind of nervous about it in the chat room. He had asked if she might want any help, and she wanted to discuss it before they decided on anything. Fortunately her room was right next door to his own, and it took not even a five second walk from his room to her door. Bringing up a hand, he gave a few light knocks on the door and called out, “Hey Cait, you in there? It's Einar.” He was hoping he could be of some help, maybe an extra pair of eyes or an extra hand for exercises or something like that. If not, then that was fine too, but the past week or so had seemed really hard on...on everyone here, for whatever their own reasons were. They were family, blood or not, and family does their best to help each other out through thick and thin and whatever horrible situations life can throw at them. “I wanted to talk about helping you, not just with this internship, but I want you to know I'm here if you need help with anything at all. We're all family, we should be there for each other.”

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 263 WORDS ■ "I'm a failure." ■ Who in their right mind would choose Caitlyn for anything? But she had to change. She had to make a difference. She didn't do anything for herself. Now, she did everything for her. Students needed guidance. They needed to be taught in the ways of a true professional. The more students Cait could oversee, the more she cold guarantee their future. All it took was a warm and kind soul to make a difference. She was drastically different than Red Horn. Perhaps for reason. The others seemed to agree with her, but did it matter? Did any of it matter?
He was going to be an extra set of eyes to her own five, and a second set of hands... in addition to her own three pairs. In her room, she was lounging in her own black pajamas and a white tank top with bits of what looked like black dye staining it. One of her right hands was bandaged, covered with the same ink. As if she was trying to color it dark.
"Just a moment!" She would say, getting to her feet and to approach her own door. His words were comforting, but still, Caitlyn was a bit unsure of what to make of it all. She opened the door, only enough to allow herself to pass through, closing it behind her. She stood in front of her own room. "Child is sleeping... and I know we're all family. It's why I believed in Macabre's vision."
There was much to say, but what was she supposed to do with someone like him?

As the spider woman stepped through her door into the hall, Einar moved away and to the side a bit in order to give Caitlyn her personal space. Gesturing with his arm to follow as he made his way down the stairs to the empty meeting room, the German ex-destitute responded in a hushed voice, "Oh, sorry, I didn't think she was sleeping yet." Hearing her mention Kasey's vision, he stepped inside and spoke up once the door was shut, "You know, before I met her...I didn't really having much going for me. It was miserable and dangerous not having some safe place of my own, I did what I could to keep those streets safe and stop people from getting caught up in something they might not be able to get out of. Then-"
He took a growling, sighing breath, closing his eyes for a moment with a hateful grimace. "You remember that whole Semper Fi incident, and how some interviews came up after it? I felt horrible that such a thing could have happened to those kids, seeing that one video with the goat student bawling... and I...I kind of snapped. Tore through a real shitty slum, horrible place full of drugs and abuse, and- I'm not going to describe all of what happened, but she could have easily killed me there. I was beaten and bloodied and couldn't even hold myself up. Instead she made me an offer, and," Shaking his head he continued, "Well, it helped me get my life a bit more together. I actually have money to live on, and clean clothes, you know? Not to mention, living with all of you. It makes me wonder what ever happened to all the kids I grew up with, if they have families of their own."
Seeming to stare off in thought for a bit, Einar shook his head dismissively. "But...Enough about that. I don't want to keep you away too long, so, what kind of things are you going to be doing with this internship? I'll do anything I can to make sure these kids are prepared, just tell me how, Cait."

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 172 WORDS ■ "This is family." ■ She wanted more than the life she had, but she was perfectly content with what she was living. It wasn't wrong to want more in life. It wasn't something she needed to be happy. But that was how life was. You were handed cards, and it was up to you to decide how to play them. Caitlyn might have been handed a lot more cards than other people, and perhaps her hands held more at one time than anyone else. But she didn't know how to play the game. She followed quietly behind him, into the meetingroom shared between both vigilante groups that operated within Pink Jackal.
Caitlyn took a quiet seat, listening to him speak about Kasey. It was weird to hear the same story told so many times, even if this was the first time Cait was hearing it towards herself. But that was what their god was. They all spoke to him in front of others. It was being vulnerable, weak, and open. It was trusting those beside you. It was trusting who they trusted.
"well actually, I just had the strangest idea." She folded her hands, a two sets on the table, and one in her lap. "Now, I know you're versed in crimes, and are reforming, and that you want to help. The kids don't know your face yet... So why don't we make a training exercise out of it? There's crimes going down in Nakano. We can all meet up there, you can ambush us with the help of my spiders. The kids learn a thing or two, you get to help, and we all win." it was a good plan... right?

Hearing the spider woman suggest an idea, Einar nodded along as she spoke. "I wouldn't say I'm versed in more than one crime, and I did what I had to so people on the streets were safer, especially in such bad neighborhoods. A bit of real world experience might give some of them a bit of ground to stand on, and make them work together to deal with things so they don't get in over their heads. Just don't expect me to make any flashy entrances or go too easy on them. They're doing it to learn, after all, so they shouldn't either." Thinking on it some more, he spoke up, "So, do you have anything specific in mind for all this? Should I go head out and get something to hide myself with, or just wear what I usually wear? Do you think maybe if I 'beat you up' or did something else to make myself seem like a threat that it might push them to give it their all?" It seemed like he was bombarding her with questions, giving a small jazzy gesture with his hands at the one about beating her up, as if maybe the sight of her being hurt might inspire them. Of course, he'd aim to not even hurt her, it was all going to be an act, but they needed to think whatever they came up with was real.

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 210 WORDS ■ "What am I doing?" ■ "Oh that part is easy." She would tell him. "There's a stockroom downstairs for the masks and outfits. I can easily dress up some of my spiders to help you trap me. Then, the kids will fight with all they got. And when the time comes, I can tie them up with my silk and prevent them from harming you further, assuming you even give them an opening." Caitlyn would offer a shy smile. "No more than a few minutes, a few punches max. I just want them to be used to being alert." She sighed for a moment, sulking in her chair. That wouldn't work at all. Those students were smart. They knew what they were doing. Surely they would know that it was her own spiders, even if dressed up. But maybe...
"Actually, I think we have a few colored smoke bombs here. You can hit me with one, and I'll just say that there must be a chemical in it, that's toxic to me. I mean, with my anatomy and all, I'm sure they'll fall for it, and then we'll see what these kids can really handle." It seemed like a better idea. At least, slightly better. But who was to say. She wasn't the idea person.

Thinking about a few options on how to approach such a lesson as Caitlyn answered his questions and made some suggestions about there being some spare masks and outfits, he brought a hand up to his chin and furrowed his brow to think on that part a bit more. It wasn't like he'd expect any of the students to come by here, much less see him in the back working or coming out of work, plus if they just used what they had here, they could coordinate the disguises better. Hearing the hero limit the lesson to a few punches, Einar nodded. He didn't want any of them to get seriously hurt, after all it was just a training exercise.
"Smoke bombs could work, maybe I could get some kind of height, cover the area with them," he replied with a point of his finger at her, "I could get a bit of opportunity in the smoke to hop down and make my move." Moving ahead a little bit, he brought up a good question, "So, what kind of Quirks do these kids have? Anything some of them could use without getting into a lot of trouble with the school?" Better to know what he would be facing, so he could plan and be prepared than to be going in blind and reckless.
