APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY
Appearance:
A relatively average sized girl, Shouko’s smooth skin belies a firm musculature, the result of a life spent carrying around the heavy rocks which have grown due to her quirk since she was a child. Frequently, people ask her about her hair, which is long and reddish brown, tied back in twintails. Specifically, they ask- Considering her nature as a battle maniac, shouldn’t she be cutting her hair short so it does not get grabbed? In her words- How do you know it’s their hands grabbing my hair, and not my hair grabbing their hands!
Shouko is typically wearing two sets of clothing at any given time. The first is her battle armor, carved out of her quirk, and essentially formed of a stone dress and bra. Although this shows a lot of skin, which reduces the defensive potential of the armor, it is necessary- Stone is known for being inflexible, and so this combination allows Shouko her preferred combination of mobility and protection. In addition, being made of heavy stone, the dress has a secondary effect of lowering Shouko’s center of gravity, allowing her to keep balance even as she swings her arms around while wrapped in stone. And yes, she does wear spats under the dress- She’s a battle maniac, not an exhibitionist!
As her armor must be carved out in advance, Shouko almost always wears it- Just in case. However, when out casually, Shouko prefers to wear an old-fashioned tunic wrapped at the waist, reminiscent of more traditional japanese garments- However, it is notably shorter than most, and lacks sleeves as nearly all traditional garments would. This simple style allows for easy removal in a pinch- While the looseness of it allows her quirk to operate without the stones produced tearing the cloth as would occur in tighter clothing. However, despite this garment being visibly shorter than Shouko’s battle dress, it inexplicably is always able to hide the armor beneath.
In addition to her garments, Shouko frequently can be seen with her arms coated in stone to form massive clubs, which is her primary offensive weapon. When she can, she also carves the hair ties she uses to hold her twintails out of rock.

Personality:
Iwasaka Shouko is a bright, energetic girl- The very definition of “genki.” However, to those that actually know her, the phrase they use to describe her is never that. Even those who only know the girl in passing, are well aware of the girl’s nature as a “Battle Maniac.”
However, Shouko is not your average battle maniac. Shouko is not so interested in fighting herself- Although those around her would give her questioning stares if she were ever to admit that to them. No, what drives Shouko is a deeply internalized desire to see how other people fight. The girl absolutely loves watching streamed videos of any fight she can catch, on the highest quality available- The recent combat tournament at the UA sports festival was like a dream come true to the girl, who absolutely adores anything to do with superpowered battles.
From this passion, Shouko has recently taken to releasing video analysis of fights- And occasionally streams herself doing so, though she is never certain whether her viewers are more interested in her words or her face. She would like to believe the former, but the number of people who have been banned from her channel by her helpful moderators for inappropriate comments does concern her.
However, it must be said that this concern is not particularly strong- If Shouko was offput by this level of attention, she could never wear such a revealing battle armor.
However, her battle mania has a dark side. Like any mania, Shouko has a strong desire to share her interest with others- Whether they want to or not. Her streaming helps assuage this desire, but she has been known to not read the mood when others are well past done hearing her talk about how beautiful a fight was- Or, more often, what she thinks they should have done better. After all, criticism is always harder to hear than praise. Especially when the critic has the advantage of a birds-eye view that you did not have at the time.

HISTORY
By all rights, Iwasaka Shouko should have been a normal girl. Even her parents aren’t sure how she became so… Her. To say it started when she developed her quirk at the fairly normal age of five years old, would do a disservice to all quirkers who grew up without becoming self proclaimed battle connoisseurs. To say it was her love of shounen manga, would similarly be a disservice to manga fans around the world.
In short, no one knows what led to Shouko’s love of battles, although it is likely due to a form of high-functioning autism such as asperger’s syndrome. In any case, the girl was entranced by a young age, thoroughly rejecting the shoujo manga her parents would buy her in favor of shounen series with their cool action scenes.
However, as the girl grew older, she became more critical of the fights she saw in books. Why would the character move this way? She complained. It was obviously more efficient to go for a cross counter from that position! However, no one understood her complaints, and the girl gained a reputation for strangeness among her classmates, as she grew increasingly selective in her choice of reading material.
It is unclear when exactly she switched from fictional battles to real ones, but before long the young girl was typing up detailed observations on martial arts forums, of the results of the latest matches. But even this was not satisfying, for the die-hard fans would always brigade her posts. Besides, she was not merely a battle fanatic- She was a Superpower Battle fanatic.
Which made it extremely convenient that villains and vigilantes became increasingly prevalent at the time- While also being entirely inexperienced at real combat. Shouko gained her first true online following due to her uncanny ability to track down the best possible grainy footage of the rare fights which broke out, her detailed and often reasonable analyses, and perhaps most importantly of all, her cute face. Her channel only grew as the government began to accept Quirks, introducing the first hiring motion for Heroes.
However, none of this could compare to the attention she received for her coverage of the combat tournament at UA’s Sports Festivals. Unwilling to rely on grainy footage from unusual sources as she had in the past, Shouko resolved to film this one in person- And her uncanny ability with camera angles shone through once more, catching footage that many consider superior to even the official broadcast.
It was also this event which inspired the girl to apply for the school- She had been too young the year before, but even so had been doubtful at how good a bunch of kids could be. And while some of the fights made the girl spit on the ground in disgust, even more left her heart stopping in excitement.
However, this decision comes even as her parents grow concerned about allowing her to do so- After all, as she grew older, her quirk had become more potent, making it difficult for Shouko to live without someone to break her out of her rocky shell each morning.
