"GAH! OWWWW!"
Sean had really done it this time. His leg was bleeding quite profusely. To say that he was in pain was quite the understatement. The blue-haired boy gritted his teeth as he did his best to ignore the painful injury. Walking was extremely uncomfortable and difficult with his leg injury hurting so much. It was a small miracle that the boy could even stand at all, let alone slowly walk around.
It all started after the spar with his classmate Angelica Surami. It was a very fun battle, one that had excited the boy immensely. He could not wait to get back to training to have another fun fight. Plus, the extra training would come in handy for when the main events of the sports festival came. Sean wanted to be at his A-game when they finally started.
And then it happened. When Sean was practicing his karate skills, his kick missed the battle drone he was practicing with, causing his leg to slam very hard into the metal pole that the drone happened to be in front of. Naturally, pain immediately ensued. Lots of it, to poor Sean's dismay.
Crap, the boy thought as he continued to painfully limp. I hope this injury isn't too bad to cause me to miss out on the rest of the sports festival. That would suck big time! Why did I not notice that dumb metal pole? He needed to get to the nurse and see just how bad the injury is. Time for me to hurry to the nurse!
There was one problem, however. Sean was still not too familiar with where everything in the festival was. He knew that the nurse had a tent set up somewhere, but he had no idea of its exact whereabouts. Damn it, where was it again?
Fortunately for Sean, his bad luck would not last for much longer.

Nimue Nakahara Yuuei's Nurse Bad luck was what she noticed. Some foreigners trying too much Japanese food at the same time, having quite a stomach ache and the first tent they found was hers. This still made her curious if the other schools had brought their school nurse with them, she could not imagine not having them around.
When there was no one in the tent, she would wait in front of it, keeping her eye out on the limping people around. Most were people that were too enthusiastic, jumping off things, bumping into each other and hurting their ankle, bumping their heads and getting cuts and the like, nothing serious. She did look around also to see faces and not be in the stuffy tent all the time. Her amber eyes swallowed the whole field and ground but did not see much until she noticed people parting, whispering, staring and her eyes finally turned back its focus. She recognized one of her own students or well that meant Yuuei students and she shot forward to help. She noticed the blood on one of his legs and his limping and offered her shoulder to support. "What happened Mizushima-san?" She said worried, did someone do this, it was blunt damage, but the skin was broken hence the blood. Why did no one help him before? She could not understand some people. "You're almost there, a little bit further now." It surely must hurt. She opened one of the sides of the tent and let him sit on one of the nearby chairs, trying to find a small stool to lift his leg on so she could see it better, she hoped it would still be clean but with walking around with so many people, she doubt that and that would mean she had to work with her quirk, which was no problem in general. She would grab at least most of what she needed already, putting it on a tray and setting that on another stool next to her as she went to check, listening to Sean if he happened to explain what happened.

If not for the immense pain the boy was going through, perhaps he would have wondered why no one would give him a helping hand. Were the situation reversed, Sean would have definitely been among the first to offer some assistance. Still, the pain from both walking with the injury and the injury itself was more than enough for Sean to not even think about it.
Still, Sean was determined to bear the pain for as long as needed. He was training to become a future hero! There was no way that he could just succumb to this! There would undoubtedly be far worse injuries and pain to deal with in the future. Hell, he had to deal with getting impaled by spikes while inside a burning circus tent in the past. Sean would not give up then, and there was no way he could give up now! He just had to put up with it for as long as he could until help arrived.
Speaking of help, Sean let out a massive sigh of relief upon seeing the school nurse approaching him. Oh thank god! Wrapping his arm around the nurse's shoulder and leaning on her for support, Sean was able to slowly start making his way to the tent. As they walked, Sean began to speak. "I kinda screwed up during training. Meant to kick a battle drone, but I missed and accidentally hit a metal pole instead. Hit it really hard, too. I didn't even know it was there till it was too late."
Thinking about it, perhaps it would have been more prudent to use a training dummy instead. Still, not all opponents would stay in one place. Sean needed to practice against a moving target, so the battle drone was a fine choice. What the boy should have done, however, was check his surrounding first. In the heat of the moment of training, Sean had neglected to do so. That was a lesson the boy would take to heart from now on.
"Thank you, Miss Nakahara." Sean rarely used honorifics when addressing others, not out of rudeness, but because he was just so casual and easygoing. It was a habit he was trying to fix when it came to the teachers, with very limited success.
At last, Sean had made it to the nurse's tent. Sitting on one of the chairs, Sean gritted his teeth as the pain was being just as stubborn as the boy was. But then Sean realized something. Something that scared him immensely. "Miss Nakahara, how bad is it? Am I still going to be able to take part in the sports festival?" Oh god, he dreading thinking about it. He was so looking forward to taking part in the obstacle course. If he had to miss out because he screwed up his leg... Please don't let it be that bad. Please!

Nimue Nakahara Yuuei's Nurse Many scenarios went through the head of the Yuuei's school nurse, the thing was that she had, obviously, not been able to look at the wound yet when they were walking towards the tent. The equipment here, copied by a few moveable beds and chairs. She did not want Sean to walk to one of the beds but to make sure he would sit down very soon. She had been on the lookout for everything but at this point, Sean seemed to have the worst injury of the day, she was sure that would change as soon as the battles would start but she did not want to think about that now. Where she mostly tried to keep calm, a feature that she had perfected to the tee, she frowned and when Sean sat down immediately went to see. She had to take the small scissors to cut the training trousers that he was wearing only to be able to get a better view of the wound. She also had to make sure there was no broken bone and so on. She had at least the power to make sure there would be no infection. "Have you seen if there was something pointing out of the metal pole? You must have scratched your leg with something like that." She would not blame him if he had not seen it, after all when you are hurt, that was your first reaction and as his brain must have immediately made the connection that hitting the pole would hurt, it would be not so strange either.
She picked up a clean sterile stencil and added some Betadine to clean it so she could have a better view, even if the gash looked horrible at first instance, it wasn't that deep and it would manage to heal by itself. While considering all that, he pointed out that he had a combat match or well a sports event to work on too as well. "Which one are you in?" She asked, not showing any concern in her voice and just touching the wound, probing it a little to make sure it was just a cut of the tissue of his skin and no muscles as well. It would maybe a bad idea to join one of the one to one fights and if he was in the Cavalry battle, she would have to make sure that if he would carry someone, the rule was clear not to hit the carriers at the shins. She had no idea the exact rules, the rescue and obstacle course might be just slightly painful in walking but she had painkillers for that and she would just take extra precaution when she would wrap the bandage around it, but at this point, she was still making sure it was all well and just a cut.

words: 350 tag: Nimue Nakahara notes: I really can't imagine Sean cursing |
Sean was usually one who did not curse or swear. Not that he had a problem doing so, but he just tended not to choose to say those words. However, there was one exception. Whenever he was in great pain, he would swear like a sailor. Of course, when the boy first hit his leg onto the metal pole, Sean yelled aloud every single curse word he could think of. He saw somewhere that doing so helped deal with the pain a bit better than not doing so. It seemed to be true for him, or maybe that was just a placebo effect. Who knew?
While the boy was shouting in a way that would have possibly given him a detention were any of the stricter teachers nearby, he was unfortunately in too much pain to notice if there was anything sticking out of the pole when hitting it. This was something he now regretted, as when Miss Nakahara asked him of this important detail, Sean could not give her a helpful answer. "I'm sorry, I didn't think to check that. I was in too much pain. God, I'm so stupid!" Sean sighed, his usual cheery attitude nowhere to be found.
As she worked on cleaning the wound, the nurse asked Sean which event he was in. "Obstacle course. Thinking about it, maybe there won't even be any combat situations." Oh god, Sean could not even think about it. Getting an injury right before the event was one thing. But getting it for nothing? That just sucks! "Still, I have no idea just what the obstacles even are, so best to prepare for anything, right?"
At this point, he was just pointlessly rambling on. Sean just wanted to get his mind off of his injury, as well as the possibility of having to miss out on the obstacle course. He wanted to just focus on something, anything else. "So how was your day, ma'am? I mean before I came here?" To screw it up, Sean thought to himself. However, this particular thought was not one he would dare say aloud.

Nimue Nakahara Yuuei's Nurse She had asked him a question while probing the skin softly to make sure she would be able to see what to do, she would have to clean the wound, obviously, because of the blood and to make sure no infection would be able to get there. While cleaning the wound, using betadine mostly for the blood on his leg and not in the wound, she had her own powers for that, she tried to make sure to distract him by the conversation while the betadine could sting a bit and as well as cutting away pieces of fabric that were in her way. Well, the only hope was for other training trousers. "No, I do not agree Mizushima-san. Instead of lingering on to find what cost you harm, you went to me, which is also very important as well. We will check later to make sure so I can inform staff that it might be slightly dangerous." She did not understand why no one had thought about it before, sharp pointy objects in a training facility, she felt that was stupid and not Sean.
She looked up shortly when he said better be prepared for everything, she smiled at him shortly before finally using her transformation. The wound and especially the blood around it were now cleaned up and she switched to her transformation to show bright green eyes and the skull, putting her hands near the wound to make sure the bacteria would pick up any debris, even a little piece of cotton or the like, to make sure the wound would not get infected. She went to take butterfly closures, she did not want to put too much bandage on the wound, as it needed to breathe and would be able to close itself but since the events were still upcoming. "I can't say much about it, I don't even know myself what they all would add but I am sure that it would be fine, I am just making sure the wound stays close and protected but in case you want to do any kicks, I suggest to use your other one." She remained in touch with the skin to keep cleaning but as soon as she was done, which took about ten minutes, she would work on the little band-aid.

Sean may be an oblivious boy, but even he would notice something so obvious like pain. It was good that his conversation was getting Sean's mind off of his injury. It was still noticeable enough to the point where the boy could not just ignore it completely. Still, talking really was helping a lot right now.
The boy smiled a bit when Miss Nakahara assured him that he was in fact not the one who did something stupid. Some of Sean's usual cheeriness was beginning to come back, though it would not be completely back just yet. "Thank you. I still think that part of it was my fault. I feel like I could have been more careful or maybe have done things differently, like luring the battle drone away from the edge of the arena, or being more careful of my surroundings, or even just doing a different kind of practice. I don't even do kicks all that often, to be honest. I just wanted to mix things up a bit to improve my skills and avoid stagnation."
Regardless of whose fault it actually was, whether that be Sean, the battle drone, the metal pole, the ones who programmed the drones' AI, the UA staff, or even the gods, the fact remained that Sean was still injured, his leg was still in pain, and complaining about it was not going to help at all.
It was pretty fascinating to see the nurse use her quirk, though. Sean did not know what exactly it was she was doing, as he really did not want to look at the blood and injury again. Instead, he focused on the skull. It looked pretty cool. "Woah, that looks awesome, Miss Nakahara!" He was curious to know what her quirk did exactly, but he figured it was best to not bother her with that and just let her do her thing.
"Yeah, I think I'll refrain from using any kicks for now. I'll just stick to punching and using my quirk." The last thing Sean wanted was for the wound to open up again and have to bother the nurse yet again. He was dense, but thankfully not a complete idiot. "Thank you so much, Miss Nakahara! You're amazing!" Really, that was not an exaggeration. With UA being a school of people with quirks, accidents were bound to happen. It was only natural, after all. What would the school do without the nurse being there to help in a timely manner? Sean did not even want to think about such a thing.

Nimue Nakahara Yuuei's Nurse She was distracted slightly because her attention should go to use her power and clean the wound, she answered vaguely because of that, "Just don't be hard on yourself, but it is good to pay attention to surroundings." Her amber eyes now turning green and she made sure no possible infections could come but she did want to see the pin to make sure because of that, she never worried about infections thanks to her own quirk. "Well, see it as a lesson, that sounds stupid but it works that way anyway. You do good to train more even kicks but never forget your surroundings, in real life, there might be all kind of things that stick out or make you hurt yourself. Many Pro-heroes have learned it the hard way." She was sure of that, even if she had not asked or spoken to them in that way but she gave a short smile to Sean.
She looked up when Sean expressed some excitement and she gave him a smile while cleaning the wound now without the blood but of a possibility, she pushed softly the skin towards each other so she could put the butterfly closures on it. Now that was done, she could clean up the excessive blood that she had not cleaned up immediately. Her transformation stopped, the skull disappeared and her eyes turned back to amber instead of green. She went to look in the cabinet and found a thicker gaze and put it on the wound in case it would open and she took a bandage to wrap around his leg, only to make sure that in the obstacle course there would be no problem with running or cutting open the wound by a movement. The butterfly closures must hold on but just in case. "So, I hope this would at least make you able to do whatever you want, dash off and do whatever is necessary, it should be holding on and I just put a bandage on to be sure. When you are done, come back to me so I will check it again and take it off, wounds need air after all but this is just to be sure." She smiled happily when he thanked her though, even if it was her job it felt amazing to get compliments, she did not deny that. "Let's see if you can walk well, would you bring me to the training facility where you got hurt?"

words: 364 tag: Nimue Nakahara notes: Believe it or not, he actually does learn from his mistakes |
Sean agreed with the nurse's words. Paying attention to one's surroundings is important. Neglecting to do so was what got Sean injured in the first place. "Right. That's one mistake I'll do my best not to make again. I'll be more careful in the future. Although perhaps it was good that I did end up hurting my leg. Better to learn this lesson now than later." Sean would be sure to take this lesson to heart. It was fortunate that Sean was not a fool who often made the same mistake more than once.
Although the injury still hurt a bit, it was nowhere near as bad as earlier. Having looked away due to not wanting to see the blood, Sean missed out on what it was exactly that the nurse did. But now there was no blood. The injury was all covered up with a bandage. Sean smiled and thanked her once again. "I really can't thank you enough, Miss Nakahara! I don't want to get too repetitive, but again, thanks so much!"
Getting up and taking a few steps, Sean was immensely relieved to see that walking was no longer painful. Still, he did not want to put too much force on that leg, just in case. Better safe than sorry. After that, Sean nodded when the nurse asked him to bring her to the training facility where the injury took place. "Yes, right away!"
After a short walk (and almost going the wrong way), Sean made his way to the fenced arena where he practiced with the battle drone. "This is it, right here." Entering the arena that was like a volleyball court in size and shape, Sean walked towards one of the metal poles. "And here is where it happened." Upon closer inspection, there was no spike or other protrusion on that metal pole. Sean was relieved. At least his leg was not impaled. It seemed to have just banged on the metal pole really hard.
Sean wondered what the nurse's thoughts on this were. Surely this was good news, right? That he could do the obstacle course without worry as long as he was careful with his leg, right?

Nimue Nakahara Yuuei's Nurse Nimue always wanted to see the positive side of the world, the silver lining and that's how she taught her lessons, no matter if it was biology or first aid, it was how her world worked. That was just how she told Sean about it now, it was a hard lesson to learn but many people had learned it that way, she was just at this moment lucky that she was not a fighter but the healer. Made her avoid a lot of such problems. "That's a very good thing, but also never be ashamed, you train hard, things happen. Come to me in that case." She smiled that was, after all, her job but it was never bad to say it. "It's the best way to see that Mizushima-san, it is how I see the world, I learn every day and it becomes much brighter." She hoped that he knew she was not pushing him to think that way but to not consider himself bad or an idiot, that was something she wanted to avoid with every student after all.
She wanted to say again that it was her job but she refused, "It's all good, I just hope you are doing well in the obstacle course." Which was mostly the reason to why she used the bandage but then again she had pushed that he should visit her later as well so she could check if everything was fine, you never knew and a wound needed air, even if it was cleaned out by her. She watched carefully as Sean walked around and noticed he did try to not put too much weight on it. "Try to normally walk, so your muscles don't get lazy, it might be a bit painful in the beginning but else you will regret it during the finale event." She was sure to give him the right advice, after all, he should have a fair chance to start. She followed him instantly out of the tent and walked next to him to make sure everything was alright and where the training had happened.
She inspected the pole and noticed just like Sean that nothing was pointing out on it, the only reason why Sean could have had a cut was that there was a sort of lid on it, probably to use for the volleyball net and make it stick. He could have cut himself on that which explained the open wound and the bleeding, "Well lucky to know Yuuei thought of everything, it will be all good, thank you for showing me." She was at least sure that the school kept its eye on objects like that which was a relief. "Do take good care of yourself before the match, did you eat and drink enough?" She had said the question to Elise and Miku before too, it was the only thing she could do after all.

words: 532 tag: Nimue Nakahara notes: All's well that ends well enough |
Sean agreed with the way Nimue saw things. Despite the earlier pain from the leg injury, despite the earlier self-ridicule, Sean tended to see things in a positive light, not being one to dwell in negative thoughts for too long. After certain events in his childhood, the blue-haired boy always did his best to avoid being gloomy whenever something bad happened. After all, if he could not cheer himself up, how would he be able to cheer up others, especially when he became a hero? Sean wanted to be the bright light that others could depend on to drive away any darkness. The first step to doing so was having a positive outlook on things.
Of course, being forgetful at times, Sean would sometimes need a reminder of this important lesson. This time, it was the school nurse who helped the boy remember not to dwell too much on messing up. It was okay to make mistakes, and it was okay to sometimes forget the lessons learned from said mistakes. After all, he was just human. "Right! I'll try not to get myself injured too much, but if I do, I'll count on you. Thanks!"
Upon being advised to walk normally so as to avoid letting the leg muscles become lazy, Sean began walking the way he normally did. The pain came back, but it was very light. Nothing that Sean couldn't ignore. With time, this pain would pass, and the wound would no longer be a cause for concern. The boy was determined to be at 100 percent once he took on the obstacle course.
Sean watched the nurse as she inspected the metal pole he had banged his leg on. The boy hoped that there wasn't anything serious that he had missed when he checked. Thankfully, it looked like from what the nurse said, there was no need to worry. Everything was fine. Hooray!
"Right, I will! And of course! I got all the necessary food and drinks covered!" With how excited Sean was for the obstacle course, as well as his determination to do well there, there was no way that Sean would neglect eating and drinking. Not that he neglected those outside of the festival either. With how hard the boy was training in general, he would not allow himself to slack off in any part of his training. That included his diet.
Seeing as there was not much left for Sean to do now that his injury was patched up, he supposed that it was time to get going. But before that, he bowed respectfully at Nimue. "You're probably tired of hearing it, but thank you so much again. Let me know if there's ever anything I can do to help you out." Sean was aware that helping students was her job. It was not like Sean was obligated to do something to thank the nurse for just doing her job. Still, the boy was not one who liked to just do nothing when someone did something great for him. No good deed went unrewarded in Sean's eyes. If there was ever anything she wanted or needed from him, Sean would be more than happy to help.

Nimue Nakahara Yuuei's Nurse Her track of thought was on purpose to find a silver lining into everything, the reason was to point out that the world wasn't full doom and gloom. However, when necessary, the nurse could provide a very neutral and maybe even serious scary look on her face when she was concentrating on wounds. Depending on the sort, of course, the one Sean had was easy to fix, no harm done and no one doing it to him but himself. Which was indeed unfortunate but it could have been worse. She laughed a bit when Sean said that he would try not to get too much injured, "It's the thought that count." She said with a snicker because it was a likewise thought that she had. Not getting injured in Yuuei, it might be a miracle.
For a second, she might not have considered her usual silver lining track of thought as she needed to be practical, but that also counted for the instruments and the building of Yuuei's facilities. She knew how buildings worked, for the most part, they needed walls and support beams to carry the roof. If you wanted to play games or use items such as nets for whatever volleyball game or other game Yuuei would come up, you needed other poles, such as this metal one. There were no weird nails or other pointy things there and the only way how Sean got it injured like he had made sense to her and was just as it was an accident, nothing weird or nothing too concerning. Once she stated that, she thanked him for letting her see this and would not take too long to walk out of the training area so the people there could continue.
She turned to Sean to make sure he knew as well and asked what she asked every student if they took proper care of themselves. That was part of her job as well, or so she felt like. "Good, good, it's very important." She answered because how will you try to win a race, fight a fight if you were just tired and hungry already. Sean got it, that worked wonders. She would support him as she would any other student. She smiled happily when Sean thanked her again, especially in his manner, she found rather cute. The nurse did her job with care and love but it was nice if people appreciated it too. "The only thing you can do for me now, is doing your very best at the obstacle course. I will be watching." She said happily and she meant every single word of it. "And of course, to enjoy it." She smiled, well that was a good job done and as their ways separated, Nimue headed back to the tent outside, the students that helped her told her no one else came, so that was all going splendid as well.
