Yumi had been doing her best to try and get to know all of her classmates, but with the ever changing roster, what with students dropping out of the course and fresh students being ever so eager to fill their old slots, it had been a bit of a rough time. She was so busy in lessons in fact that she sometimes struggled to just remember if some people were still there. Was melody still part of her class? She was pretty damn sure. There was also that girl who turned stuff black and white? Was she still there? Yumi hoped so otherwise she’d feel really bad for never getting a chance to know her before she left.
Really it was a stressful ball of ins and outs and Yumi’s friendly head got stressed thinking about all the friends she might have already lost contact with due to how busy she’d been just trying to keep up with her hero studies. For someone like her who wanted to please everyone, it could be quite the little nightmare just to keep up with ya know? All the same, today, preparing for the sports festival, she was trying to make another friend, or at least a formal aquiantance, out of one of her classmates. Ken, she believed his name was. From what little she could see while trying to keep up with the practical lessons, he seemed to have a pretty offensive quirk and she was eager to see what that could do up close and personal, but of course, more than that, she was just eager to get to know another one of her classmates.
Not too sure on how to approach him about hanging out, it was kinda weird to just go up to a stranger, even a classmate, and ask them to randomly hang out with you, she’d ended up approaching him quietly during one of the breaks between lessons and just asked if he’d like to meet her for an out of lesson sparring match for the lead up to the sports festival. Whether it took much convincing or not she couldn’t really recall, but the bottom line was she’d managed to get his attention one way or another, and she was all the more glad for it. She really did care about getting to know he classmates no matter how long she’d had them as a part of her class. Afterall it was part of the job as class representative, and even more than that, it was a good quality to have as a hero, getting to know those you may have to work alongside in the future. Be it as classmates or actual pros.
As such, with the promise of training with him on the lead up to the sports festival, Yumi had booked one of the training halls for the two of them the weekend before the festival, feeling a little bit more chipper than she had in the past when putting herself in situations like this. See the issue could always be that she’d had a bout of doubting herself or the like, but this time, this week, she was really back on the horse, feeling confident in herself, from the way Darren had complimented her footwork, to the fluffy friend she’d met to join her on her morning jogs, and of course just sheerly the endorphins pumping through her from all the exercise she’d been doing lately. Yeah! She just plain felt good, and confident, and it was great!
She stood in her powersuit, waiting for her classmate, eager to see what they could do. She knew they were pretty new, so without being rude to them in her head she was pretty sure she should go easy on them, but even then she felt it would be good practice for the tournament scheduled for the sports festival. Afterall she’d practiced with moving targets, but never one that had a mind of it’s own. At least, not regularly…it probably wasn’t great that she was already thinking about her sparring partner for the morning like live target practice, but that was a practical way to view it at least…ehehe. Boy she had to question for a second if she was getting an ego but…no. She’d seen flickers of what her classmate could do, and he was a close up fighter, so her quirk naturally had the advantage of being long range and…well, ya know, fucking lightning.
Still, she loosened up, and prepared herself for any surprises, looking to the main entrance to the training hall from the seat she’d taken on the bleachers either side of the training space, curious if, like herself, her classmate would arrive in their hero suit, the school gym wear, or heck something else entirely was always a possibility with 1C students.
