"Working hard for the goal you want" was something Tsuji was taught several time throughout his life, and applying it to the festival was a prime example of acting on it. Tsuji had been training for the past few days, getting shaped up for not one, but two tournaments. As much as he liked preparing, he didn't want to go overboard too far, he couldn't devote all his time to it - he did check out the festival stalls and such, he went and got some new clothes, and playing online fighting games counted towards something, right? At the very least, Tsuji wasn't lifting like usual - he was using a leg press machine, in order to try and get his leg muscles in better working order. He couldn't run as fast with good arms but bad legs, and he definitely needed the speed advantage if he was going to go head-to-head with not only other students from U.A., but students from around the globe. That being said, Tsuji would've liked to meet up with some other school's students - it would be good for him to expand his friendship technique by befriending foreign students. He knew some of them had mutation quirks like he did, but he wasn't limited to just talk to them.
Tsuji considered a few more minutes on the machine before moving on, he'd already been on it for a while now, and there were a couple of people who were waiting for him to get off. Maybe five or ten minutes now, and then he would head off to something else that would help, like a run around the sports field track. It's nice to switch some stuff up, and the festival was the perfect way (or excuse) to do it.

| T he Canadian team hadn't really stuck together when they arrived at the festival, fanning out instead to scope out both the school as well as it's students. They hadn't been sure if they would even be able to communicate with any of the students there. While it was nice to assume the whole world spoke English, they knew well that wasn't the fact.
Carter Brown, one of the larger student's from L'est Chevaliers D'eons had chosen to stalk out the sports fields as well as any training areas he could find. Surely the only students that were worthy of meeting where the strong and active right? The others quirks might be strong, but without raw strength to back them, Carter didn't have to worry about them. And no, as he walked out to the track, watching the sports clubs interact with the other schools, he spotted something rather interesting.
"Un ours?" He asked himself aloud, an eyebrow raising as he analyzed the fact that this bear wore clothes, walked on two legs and his overall mannerisms were... human. Hunh. So this was a U.A student? Probably. He chose t approach the massive bear, a rather large grin on his face. When he approached the bear, he could help but let his dramatic flare take over.
"Well hello there Bear man!" He greeted, flexing his muscles towards the man, grinning all the while.
"What say you to a friendly little competition?? You look to be very strong yourself~"

"Well, that's a pretty good excuse to let other people use this now", Tsuji thought. He quickly got off of the leg machine he had been using, as something had arisen into his view. He had been approached by a foreign student - he was quite tall for someone who looked like he was in his mid-teens, had clearly defined muscle within his clothes, and an ear-to-ear smile that could slice through any darkness with its bright positivity. He was speaking English, which might pose a problem, but Tsuji knew a bit about what he was saying. He understood that this new student wanted some form of active competition, and that he complimented Tsuji's strength. A very kind gesture: could this mean a new friend? "Thank you v-very much. H-hello, my name is Tsuji Kuma. Nice to meet you.", he said, thinking between each word. His English was a little fractured in places, but he persevered on, and asked "What kind of compe- competi-competition do you propose?" Tsuji's mind was racing at the many types of challenge the student could present - it could be anything, from dead lifting, to racing, to timed push ups; the options were limitless. Judging from his stature, this foreign student looked as though he was more used to common sports, like soccer, or baseball, or tennis. But looks could be deceiving - Tsuji was well aware of that. No matter what, however, it'd be fun to get some more training, especially if it was someone totally new! Speaking of which, Tsuji wasn't yet aware of this student's name. In a slightly more embarrassed tone, Tsuji asked "S-sorry! What is your name?", and bowed. He wanted to be respectful to these other schools, as well as friendly to their students, after all.

| "O h right, I suppose I haven't introduced myself eh? My name is Carter, Carter Brown from Les Chevaliers D'eons, the Canadian Hero school. A pleasure to meet you Ours Tsuji! Hahaha." While his English wasn't perfect, with a keen ear Carter could still understand what he was saying. The perks of living in such a diverse country meant that he had spent a lot of time around foreigners, their accents and their difficulties speaking the language. He would just offer up a genuine smile to the other boy, placing his hand on his shoulder if Tsuji let him.
"How about a friendly little competition of strength, hm? Not a fight of course, but what about we... hm yes! Those tree's? The one who can cut down the most trees and turn it into proper firewood after 10 minutes wins~ Sounds fun right? Don't worry I"m sure someone around here has some sort of nature quirk to grow them back!" The boy proposed with a huge smirk on his face. It was an easy enough contest, one that might actually give the bear man an advantage pending his upbringing. It really depended... but Carter really wasn't worried about losing, he was more interested in seeing what somene with a mutation quirk like this could do...

Cutting down trees? Tsuji wasn't super familiar with the idea, he'd never even used an axe before, so this could be an interesting way to train. He'd knocked a tree down before in the forest, but that was kind of accidental. “Cut those trees? Yes, Carter, let's do out best!”, he said with enthusiasm. He hoped he wouldn't have to speak more English, but at this point actions meant more than words. Tsuji started to walk towards the outside, thinking for a moment. Carter, from the Canadian hero school... Canada wasn't too far away from home, and he'd only ever seen pictures, but he was sure that it was a nice place. And a hero school there with students who were friendly, like him? Surely it was a great environment.
Tsuji pondered further for a second, and harked back on a previous thought: he hadn't used an axe before, but there wasn't any around that he knew of. Politely, he asked Carter “What will we use?”. If it was just down to Tsuji's natural strength, he could probably knock a tree down, but cutting it to make firewood was a different tale. Alongside that, he didn't even know what Carter's quirk was, if he had one. He decided to wait it out, and see if he would use it for the challenge.

| I t seemed that Tsuji liked the idea as he not only spoke up about liking it, but also made a beeline towards the outside where they would take down a few trees for their little contest. It really got Carters blood pumping to go up against another student with a quirk like this! he couldn't stop smirking widely as he followed Tsuji outside, only stopping when they had reached their destination and Tsuji asked him what they would use.
Carter would blink in confusion for a moment as he thought it would be a no brainer... they would use their quirks and their strength of course! hmm but what if Tsuji wasn't as strong as Carter made him out to be in his head? Maybe cutting down trees wasn't something that he could do? Maybe he's have to change the game up a little bit t make things a bit more fair.
"Well, I was thinking we use our strength and our quirks... but if that isn't something you can do then... hmmm... here." Carter reached down to the ground, placing his hand on top of the soil. For a moment, nothing happened, but soon a loud grunt escaped carter as the soil began to move and make way as a large boulder began to surface from the ground underneath! Carter let out a heavy breath as he set the stone down on the ground, placing both hands on it, then bringing one back int a fist and punching the rock as hard as he could.
It would crumble under his fist, t hen crack more and more until it crumbled into a heap in front of him. From within the rubble, Carter was able to withdraw two large stone axes. He then handed one over to Tsuji.
"If you would rather, we can use these." He said with that same broad, confident smile plastered on his face.

With Carter's reaction to his confusion, Tsuji began to feel a little embarrassed. He could probably chop a tree down using his claws and strength, but Carter had gone through with making stone axes with his quirk, which was some kind of earth manipulation. Seemed quite useful, and as Tsuji picked up the axe, he could tell that it was a real boulder he fashioned the axes from. He wanted to tell him he could use his claws and strength to cut the tree down, but he also didn't want to trouble Carter for pointlessly using his quirk. He was still smiling though, which Tsuji appreciated, sending one back at him.
“These are great!”, Tsuji exclaimed, wanting to show gratitude towards Carter. “You have a good quirk”, he added. But the task at hand was clear – they were going to cut down these trees and make as much firewood as possible. Tsuji went up to a nearby tree, and got into position. “Should we start at the same time?”, he asked. As much as he wanted to do this, he didn't want it to be unfair, as that would be pretty mean towards Carter. Tsuji didn't want to ruin a chance at a friendly exchange with a foreign student, after all.

| "T hank you, I have every confidence yours is impressive as well! Now, when I say 3! Ready?! One, Two, THREE" Carter counted out loud, still waiting to see Tsuji move first to give the home player a moment's advantage. This was something Carter was exceptionally used too, having done a lot of work as a lumberjack back home to hone his incredible strength. The first swing of his axe cut clean through to the centre of the tree, and the second swing moved with incredible precision, finding the same groove as the first and cleanly severing the tree from it's trunk.
The tree trembled at first before it began to tip, Carter was sure to give a shout to let anyone around, including Tsuji, know that the tree was falling. If the coast was clear he'd let the tree hit the ground, if someone got in the way he would manipulate the earth underneath where the tree was going to land, creating a massive hand that would grab the tree before it hurt anyone.
Once the tree was down, Carter abandoned his axe in favour of his quirk. Stones from the ground underneath them would shape around his arm, reinforcing it as he swung an open palmed chop at the tree, beginning to slice it into even thinner logs, kicking them aside when they would be cut into the appropriate sizes.

As soon as the countdown started, Tsuji was taken aback by how quickly Carter counted, and fumbled slightly getting ready to cut the tree down. On three, he swung the axe Carter gave to him blindly, aiming horizontally towards the tree, as hard as he could. With a few decent chops, he managed to get through the tree, and it began to fall. Tsuji didn't want it to get too broken up as it fell, as it would maybe mean more uneven firewood when it was cut. As it started to fall, Tsuji rushed over to try and catch it, and then lay it down more gently. It was pretty heavy, but he managed to set it down after some weight shifting on his part.
He did notice Carter's form of setting it down, through the use of his quirk. It seemed very multifunctional, as it would help him then, and probably in the future too. After Tsuji set his tree down, he kept going with the axe, chopping the tree into smaller chunks of wood, about three quarters of his own height. The chunk chopping was slightly easier, as he was able to get through most of them in two or three swings. When he got all the chunks, he set them up vertically, one by one, and went at them with downward swinging individually. Around the same time, Tsuji saw Carter using his hands covered in the stone he could get from the ground, which gave him an idea...

| W ith steady, deep breaths carter would swing his arm again and again into the trunk of the tree, masterfully splitting it into perfect quarters, leaving little to no wooden splinters on his firewood. Chop chop chop he went, skillfully skinning the tree until finally there was no more wood to cut, only loose branched and leaves left where the tree had first fallen.
Now instead Carter moved onto another tree, and instead of picking the ax up again, swing his arm directly into it much like it was the ax itself. Two strikes, thats all it took once more for the tree to fall before the Canadian student started going ham on the tree again. While his movements where swift, the big man did start to slow, occasionally glancing over towards Tsuji to see how he was doing. He didn't want to be a show-off and was genuinely interested in what the Bear-man could do. He purposely slacked off here and there, allowing Tsuji the opportunity to catch up, watching to see what he would do when he felt pressed by the possibility of losing.
'How strong are you my friend? Let me see that fire that drives you~ This might seem like a silly challenge but it's great training!' He thought to himself with his smile only widening as he continued to look at Tsuji.
"You can do it friend! Stay focused and make decisive strikes. If you keep hitting the tree willy nilly it won't ever fall. Hit the same spot more than once, and you'll find it's balance breaks." Yes he was talking about the tree, but his words could easily prove true for anything Tsuji might encounter in life, especially when it came to becoming a hero.

With the vertical wood chunks standing, ready to be cut, Tsuji executed his idea. He ran down the isle of wood, and with swift downward blows, he punched the epicentre of the wood, sending cracks through and splitting it straight down the middle. He continued doing this for each one, until he was done with the first tree. He shook his paw a little bit, as it did hurt, but hopefully it would show Carter how strong he really was! Speaking of which, Carter was moving onto his next tree, chopping into it using the stone-bound armed from his quirk. It was a strong quirk, as he moved through the tree with little effort and almost no hiccups. He was clearly pumped up from his messages towards Tsuji, and wanted him to push himself. Well, if that's what he wanted, Tsuji would oblige, but that wasn't the most important part.
The important part was that Carter called him “friend.”
With new found resolve, he picked up the axe once more and made his way to another tree. “I'll go for it, hard as possible. Tree, meet your match!”, thought. Tsuji gripped the axe, and prepared a swing, aiming for a very specific part. With a short yell, he took a giant swing, slightly adjusting the axe as it moved, so it would slice in with little resistance. The axe slammed in, effortlessly moving through it about three quarters of the way in. Checking if any people were in where it would fall, Tsuji went for another chop, to send the tree on its way down.
As it crashed down, Tsuji felt more confident in his abilities. With his axe still in hand, he again began cutting the fallen wood into chunks. He couldn't try something like punching it again, because that would hurt too much. Tsuji continued with his axe, making more direct movements in his chopping.

| "A yyye that's the stuff!" Carter encouraged the Bear as he would once more pick up the axe and strike at another tree, then focus his strike and hit the same spot. The boy would smirk widely as he saw Tsuji taking his advice, forgetting for a moment what it was he should be doing, and only snapping out of it once Tsuji had brought the tree to be cut into smaller pieces.
"Woops" He declared of his own forgetfulness, turning to his own downed tree and slicing it up once more into individual pieces, and eventually cutting them into quarters to make firewood. All in all, the two boys had ended up making quite the stack of wood for their little competition and Carter found himself quite out of breath by the end of it all. However, he never stopped smiling and laughing about the whole ordeal.
"I think we can call it there, wouldn't you say? I believe we might be evenly matched! Your skill is very impressive Tsuji! I'm most impressed by how fast you were able to pick up the proper technique! You're a formidable rival!" He boasted, extending his now dirty hand towards the bear. He was looking forward to any kind of competition with Tsuji, and though he wanted to do more challenges now, he supposed it wouldn't be such a good idea to exhaust themselves more before the games.
"What do you say we go and get a bite to eat and get some refreshing drinks to relax before our events eh?"

Tsuji was pretty tired after chopping down the trees, getting a fair amount of them down and cut up to small pieces. He hoped someone could come and regrow the trees like Carter mentioned, otherwise the overall feeling would be sort of undercut. He didn't want to get in hot water, not right before the events started. Even so, the amount of wood was quite large at this point: it'd probably be put to good use for the school, or maybe Tsuji could try and sell it off if it didn't count as property.
Trees aside, however, he definitely felt more confident, and certainly stronger. He believed Carter felt the same, as he was extremely jovial, laughing and grinning all the way. Carter was also very overjoyed with Tsuji's performance, which was greatly appreciated. He reciprocated, breathing with every couple of words, speaking in English again: “Thank you... You were really great too... I'm glad we could... do this, Carter. I don't think... you are a rival... I think you are... a friend”. As Carter extending his hand out, Tsuji grabbed it passionately, shaking it with glee, slightly flexing his right arm muscle as he did so. As he let go, he listened to Carter's query eagerly: he could do with a nice cool drink and something to eat, and knew that there were food and drink stands and whatnot on the campus. “Yes, let's go. I would like that. I know where to go”, he said, beckoning Carter to follow him.
Tsuji was ecstatic that he managed to befriend someone from over the coast, and that he'd also got some training in as he did so. Maybe he'd have to go against Carter in one of the events – even if he did, he believed they could still appreciate one another, even in a fight. The festival really did bring everyone together, even if they were from other countries.
