Festivals were a time of festivity and celebration. In a way, they were often meant to be joyous moments where people participated in all sorts of activities. Japanese culture was famous for having plenty of festivals and for someone like Elise a festival was an excellent distraction from the everyday life she led. Not that she had any reason to complain. Things were going good for her at school. Her results were still as outstanding as she expected, not just because she could be smart when wanted, but also because she was the type to take effort over things people wouldn't really expect. This, alongside the positive improvements in her relationship with Tetsuko, was slowly, but certainly driving Elise onwards to a brighter future. It was for that reason, that unlike her lover Elise felt less stressed about the nature of this event. Indeed, she knew that it was an event which would be broadcasted on television across the entire world, in essence, an event which could make or break your reputation, but at the same time, it was also a festival: The Sports Festival. Of course, Elise had decided to focus on the concept of this event being a festival.
This led Elise to be found in a cheerful mood today, even if Tetsuko had to leave the dorm earlier to attend to some club business, the burgundy-haired lass had decided to spend some time with her younger brother on this particular day. In the end, she wanted to make sure that Luka had his share of fun also, something she attributed to a concern as his elder sister. It was for that reason she had invited him over to the main alley of the festival, and even in the early hours, there were already crowds filling the streets as vendors had just finished setting up their stalls. There was no doubt that her mentor had gone all out in the marketing of this festival, the sheer amount of visitors was amazing, to the point it might had been one of those amazingly large conventions she heard about before. As usual, she was dressed in the school uniform of U.A, her hands slipped inside her pockets as she hummed a soft melody.
Their mother likely would be visiting the festival also today, something about wanting to see all the stalls and attractions herself before the big events like the Obstacle course and the tournament that Elise would be participating in. Now she thought a bit more about the matter, she had not heard anything about Luka deciding to participate in anything. Perhaps it would be a subject for her to inquire about during their trip.
"He should be getting here any minute now~" Elise mused softly as she gazed around the area. Hopefully, he would have memorized the location she had told him to meet her at, then again it wasn't that hard to find this particular spot, nor was she that easy to miss among the few people that occupied the small plaza she was waiting at.

Luka wasn't quite sure what to think about U.A., and this whole sports festival thing. The school had drained him of so much of his usual energy that sometimes it was hard for him to pull himself back together at the end of the day. But he was determined to succeed, and remembering what had happened to his family recently was more than enough to get him out of bed each morning. Today however, most of those thoughts were wiped away as he tried his best to put on his most positive mindset and go out into the world. Why? Because his family would be around today, and after everything that had happened, he wanted things to be nice and happy for them. Even if he had to fake his cheeriness. Once out into the main areas of the festival though, Luka's mind shifted away from his melancholy thoughts, instead looking around with the wide and excited eyes of a child. Naturally, even though he was meant to meet Elise at a certain time, he found himself somewhat distracted as he wandered from food stall to food stall grabbing whatever looked appealing (and to the young German boy, that was most things). Ever since his quirk had come in, Luka had become particularly enthusiastic about his food, though it didn't do anything to help him grow in height or masculinity. Regardless, he would arrive a little bit late to the meeting location with his mouth full and numerous skewers of yakitori in his hand. Spotting his sister, Luka trotted over to her to offer a couple of skewers even as he swallowed what was in his mouth, a visible lump trailing down his slender throat as he did so, and after a moment he shot a grin up at her filled with such innocence and every ounce of adorableness that he could muster to make sure she wasn't angry at him for being late.

There was something about festivals that felt so special to Elise. The opportunity for all the festivities was such a great way to create a positive and cheerful spirit that felt infectious to Elise, or at least it had infected her quite strongly. Indeed, although the shock of the loss of their father had left a great impact upon Elise, the burgundy-haired lass was able to force her way through it because of certain people. Certainly, Tetsuko Shindou was a very important, perhaps even vital part of that which allowed her to endure this feeling of loss, but there were also people like their supportive mother, and indeed her little brother Luka himself. She had not been oblivious to the boy's suffering, and perhaps it was for that reason she had decided to take extra care in trying to be nice to him, to the point that even when he arrived slightly late, that she didn't go straight into a pouting mode. No, instead the moment Luka trotted over to her and offered some of the skewers Elise merely chuckled in amusement and replied in a teasing tone.
"Seems someone already went ahead and started enjoying the festival without me~" A little grin lingered on her lips as she raised a hand in an attempt to ruffle his hair lightly while taking the offered skewers. "Thanks~" Of course, it was only polite to thank someone for giving her free food! Taking a piece of the Yakitori into her mouth and chewing briefly onto it she could already imagine why Luka ended up getting distracted, those skewers really were pretty delicious!
"Mom should be arriving in an hour or so, but we can already take a look around if you want~" Elise told him with a smile while she looked around the main alley for a bit and mused softly. "Tetsu had to help out with the Cooking Club's booth, so I'll be in your care Luka~" She did know that despite all his protests and comments, that he was rather protective of her, so surely Luka would enjoy this opportunity to take care of her in a fun way like taking her around a festival. "Did you think yet about a club you might want to join? I'm currently in the Sports Club~ At some point I wanted to enroll into the music club but it seems there is only a band, and not exactly the type where I can play the piano that easily so..."
She shrugged her shoulders lightly as she looked at Luka with a smile. "Not that it is of particular importance, just helps us meet new people outside the classroom environment. Then again, judging from the chat application of the school it seems you been getting a lot of attention already. I heard something about Yusaku having tried to visit you a few times already?"
Indeed, she did recall hearing something along those lines, and the robot boy did seem quite fond of her brother for some reason...

Luka stuck his tongue out at his sister at her response, not pulling away from her hand as he might have a few months ago when she ruffled his hair. Though he did pout slightly and try and put it back into place absent-mindedly. "It's less that I started without you, and more that I made a few.... pit stops along the way. You can't blame me for getting lured in by the smells!" he declared energetically, ripping a chunk of the yakitori off its' skewer to emphasise his point. Luka liked a few things in life, and food was definitely one of his weaknesses. He couldn't help it, his body literally demanded additional mass on a regular basis, at least now that he was using his quirk more regularly to train as a hero. He never had to replenish himself this quickly before.
"Clubs? No... not really. I doubt the school has a camping or bushcraft club... or a Go club. I can't really cook like Tetsu-nee or play an instrument as well as you." Technically, he could play an instrument, it just wasn't particularly useful for most forms of music in his mind. He wasn't too sure why he'd bothered picking up the Shamisen in the first place. Probably a desire to belong more to the country he had lived most of his life in, but he didn't really want to dwell on that idea. "The piano is super versatile, especially with the keyboard I got you. I'm sure you could get in." He didn't regret that purchase, no matter how badly broke he was now. It had been worth it to see his older sister's reaction to the only combined birthday and christmas present he'd ever bought her.
There was no way he had been able to afford two presents for her last year.
He felt his face flush slightly as she brought up his antics in the student chat, rubbing the back of his head as he tried to work out a response. "Eeeh, I was just bored here at first, and it was kinda amusing. Yusaku has been oddly insistent on being my friend, not that I mind, I'm just... not too sure why. Not like I'm anything special." He shrugged at this, thinking for a moment about the boy with the robotic suit for a body before trying to change the subject. "So, you've been here longer than me, where should we go?"
