Demon Machine i no longer fear ending my hell It was an exciting night and one that was hard for some students to sleep during. It was the night before the sport's festival for Yuuei. For the first time, the hero schools were going to meet up for a competition and be pit against each other. Whether it was an obstacle course or combat or rescue operations, it was all going to be put to the test for the future heroes of the world. The very event was being held at Yuuei and months and weeks prior there were all kinds of preparations and construction going on. And on this night, the students needed to get the rest they needed for the next big day. For some students, that was going to be harder than others Not because of anxiety or nerves, but before of another odd phenomenon. A sound could be heard coming from the site of the festival, one that didn't belong there. the sound of a voice that had no source and could be heard all the way to the school's dormitories. But not everyone was able to hear this sound. It only picked up in the ears of a few of the students and it was disturbing their sleep.
One such student was Nyka Nora. The small dark skin girl was laid up in her bed trying to get some sleep. She had become more comfortable here than she did at her father's home. It seemed odd at first, but she was enjoying the solitude of her own bed rather than the one she had with her father. But in retrospect, it was pretty obvious why that was. Nyke's bed wasn't a normal one either. her weight meant the bed had to be reinforced to be strong enough to support her weight. If she moved around while she slept or had a bad dream of any kind that caused her to jerk, it was easy to collapse a normal bed. SO hers was strengthed with stronger joints and legs. Nyke slept on her side, curled up into a small ball with her tail wrapped under her legs. Sleeping on her back was always uncomfortable because of it, but that was something she naturally learned as she grew up.
But in the middle of the night, her sleep was broken. Her eyes fluttered open and even enough it was what woke her, the voice didn't become noticeable to her until a few moments after she woke. Instead of looking to see what it was, she shifted in her bed a bit. The line of thought was that adjusting her sleeping position would let her sleep again. However, that wasn't the case. Even after a few movements and even flipping her pillow to the cold side, she could just fall back to sleep. She could feel it. Her body wasn't relaxed; she wasn't relaxed. She wasn't fully awake, but she wasn't just going to drift right off back to sleep either. A brief sigh left her lips as she moved her head toward the window of her dorm a bit to look out at the night sky. What a pain this was. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

You leave me here wondering if I'll ever know How much you care, or how much you don't If you're going to be somebody's last time, baby be mine. “ Night time was usually quiet for Yuuei. With the sports festival, the next day even the more rowdy students and night owls were tucked away in their beds and getting some sleep. It was going to be a big and exciting day tomorrow and Yuuei's chance to show the world why they were number one. Kyla didn't expect to do anything too amazing or to show up on television or anything, but she was still going to try and do her very best. She was going to participate against other hero schools that opened up after Yuuei from other countries, so that was going to be fun. For now, however, the expressionless girl was sleeping away in her bed. She had her covers pulled up to her neck and had her eyes closed as she snoozed away. Just like always and even in her sleep, Kyla's face was straight. The girl was incapable of showing emotion through her face and this didn't change just because she was asleep. In fact, it made her seem even more robotic than she actually was. Her face mimicked that of Oberon's and Ophelia's. They were the two androids she had created with assistance from her Nasod Core. On the other side of the room, they stood charging, preparing for when Kyla needed them tomorrow. One was to help her out with her daily activities while the other was designed for combat. Truly useful Nasods. As for Kyla, despite the core on her forehead glowing often, it was in a powered down state. It was the state that it took when she was asleep, just like one would expect from an electronic device. Quite the mutation the girl had. However, she wasn't going to be able to sleep through the night. That luxury was going to pass her by as she stirred in her bed and eventually pushed the covers off her. She was awoken by a voice coming from outside. It was distance and not loud, but it was enough to wake her up. And Kyla wasn't the type to just ignore it. Sure, she would have loved to just turn over and try and sleep some more, but once she was awake she had a few minutes before she could even get close to sleeping again. So instead, she used her bare legs to kick the covers to the edge of her bed and sat up. The white-haired girl yawned and stretched her arms a bit. As she did, her core blinked up with a subtle blue glow, like a computer monitor turning on. What she wore to bed was actually an oversized dress shirt. She wasn't lucky enough to wear her boyfriend's since she didn't have one. It actually belonged to her father. It was given to her on a day that she missed him when she was younger. For a short time, he had a job that was night duty and to make herself feel more comfortable with it, her father gave her the shirt to sleep in so that she wouldn't miss him when he was away. She wore it like pajamas now and it was comfortable for her. Swinging her legs to hang over the edge of her bed, Kyla glanced over at her two Nasods before letting out a sigh. "Who is waking everyone up now..."”

There was one thing about stress and it was the fact that it was hard to sleep off. The mind raced and put all kinds of thoughts into a person's head when they were trying to sleep under a lot of stress. And even if they did doze off, their dreams became some really odd what-if scenarios in their sleep. It was a terrible thing all around and the hardest thing to do was the best advice. Finding a way to relax and put those thoughts to the side took Ericka a good two hours before she finally fell asleep. She was almost worried about burning a hole into her ceiling as she stared it down in an attempt to get some rest before the Sports Festival the next day. Not only were they going to be visited by a bunch of schools from around the world, but her parents were also coming on to campus to see her in action for herself. They had trained her some before she entered Yuuei, but this was going to be where she showed off the best of what she could do. She slept on her side to finally have a chance at dozing off. Her covers hung around her midsection, leaving her arms and shoulders exposed to the open air of her room. The stress was making her hot, so that was what she did to finally cool herself off. However, it really didn't make that much of a difference. All that really matter was that she got comfortable enough to get some real sleep. And that was what she would have gotten if it wasn't for the fact that she was waking only a few hours later. A voice echoed into her room and poked at her until she was awake again. At first, Ericka figured it was morning already. She didn't feel completely rested, but she assumed that was because she had trouble sleeping. She took the time to sit up in her bed and adjust her pink nightie as she moved over to the end of her bed and stood up. However, after she rubbed her eyes and let out a short yawn, her eyes glanced at the clock to see that it was nowhere near the time she was supposed to wake up. She was supposed t get up a bit early to help with final preparations for the festival but it was much too early for even that! The girl groggily slumped over to her dorm room window to look outside to see if there was anyone outside that needed to be let into the dorm. She knew what the curfew was, but teenagers rarely listened to that kind of thing. Last minute training and practice could keep anyone up, so if they needed to be let in, Ericka would do so really quick. However, upon looking outside, she didn't see anyone at all. There was nothing out of the ordinary. And most perplexing of all, she couldn't tell where the voice was coming from. What was going on here?

these rapid eyes will keep on moving Like everyone else, Laniw as sound asleep in her dorm room. After all the time she spent here, she had grown comfortable with her bed and bedroom. She didn't have visitors to her room, so her sleeping in it was a bit different from her peers. For one, and most odd of all, Lani had a night light. While many students figured Laniw as a showboat about her body out of some desperate need for attention, what she told people was the truth. She was most comfortable with as much light as she could get touching her skin, even while she was asleep. This presented itself in her clothing and in her bedroom. She slept in a short nightie. It was easy to expect that she slept in the nude or something with how little she wore, but the truth was that she still had modesty. Sure, she was comfortable with showing herself off, but she wasn't some full-on nudist or pervert. And even though she would be the only one sleeping in her room, that wasn't a free pass to just walk around naked. This was a dorm full of teenagers, even if it was other girls. She didn't sleep with any covers on though. The most she did was a mostly sheer and see-through sheet to stave off what cold she could. She was an islander, after all, so her heat was pumped up a little higher than most other people to fight off the Japanese cold. But over attached to an outlet near her nightstand was one fixture one wouldn't expect in her room. it was a nightlight. The little lights children used because they were afraid of the dark. Lani used it to feel comfortable while she slept. Even the light from a night light was better than complete darkness for her. Sure, she could just leave all her lights on while she went to bed, but the school would have a fit and Lani didn't feel like hearing their mouths. So this night light was a happy medium. And Fortunately for her, she had a really cool one. It was a boy's night light modeled after the hero Holy Order from her birth city. It was the hero Lani aspired to be, so of course, his light made her happy. But that happiness and sound sleep wasn't going to survive the night. She was woken by a voice out in the distance. One that didn't seem to come from any real direction and she was grumpy to have it wake her up. Once she was cognizant of what was going on and what woke her, she grimaced a moment. "Fuck!" She called out, though not loud enough to be heard throughout the dorm. Just because a voice woke her up didn't mean she wanted to wake up anyone else. The girl rolled over to the edge of her bed and on to the floor with a small thud in order to force herself up and not just lie there trying to fall back to sleep. Ignoring it was only going to make her more frustrated, so she was just going to solve the problem instead. It was time to shut someone up! ulla

Demon Machine i no longer fear ending my hell As the girls in the dorm woke up, it was doubtful that they were the only ones to notice the music. However, of all that heard it, Nyke was one of the few that decided to check out the source. Waking up in the middle of the night wasn't uncommon for her and she enjoyed it when she could get a night of uninterrupted sleep. SO when such peaceful sleep was disturbed, Nyke was quite unhappy about it all. There were a few more attempts at ignoring it all, but in the end, she had to get up and put an end to the voice, as ominous as that started. In her sleepiness, she was still aware of who she was, however, so she didn't just jump or roll out of bed. That was how they got broken. Nyke's weight was something she was ever knowledgable about and so her dismount from the furniture was careful and calculated. It was odd to think about doing such a thing just for getting out of bed, but metal bones meant she had to do exactly that.
As for Nyke's room, it was easy to navigate. She didn't have a whole lot of stuff and she was a minimalist by nature. She took a slow walk over to her closest, adjusting the sleeping clothes she wore as she did. She didn't expect anyone else to be out, but she didn't want to look too disheveled if she was seen. In her closest, she took out two things. First was a pair of black slides. SHe was too tired to put on shoes and socks and all that. A quick glance around outside only really needed some slippers on her feet. Her slides were different as were most of her shoes. That had a thicker sole and extra cushioning built into them to accommodate her weight. Despite being one of the smallest girls in her class Nyke outweighed all of them and even the boys. Quirks did some amazing things.
The second object was her jacket, specifically, a black hoodie that she could wear over her sleeping clothes. She lazily slipped it on over her head and had to bend her body a bit to fix the lopsided way she had thrown it on herself. But once she was all set, she took the hood off and placed her hands on the pockets of her hoodie before heading out of her dorm room. Without a word, she made her way down to the first floor and to the dorm common area. All the classes shared one of two dormitory buildings. It was split between the girls and boys dorm, so Nyke didn't have to worry about running into any guys in the middle of the night. By the time she made it to the lobby, the source and intensity of the voice didn't change at all. However, it did seem more rhythmic, as if it were singing. It was odd, but at least it wasn't a cry for help or something weird. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

You leave me here wondering if I'll ever know How much you care, or how much you don't If you're going to be somebody's last time, baby be mine. “ Rubbing her hands on her face once more, Kyla finally gathered the strength to stand up and get off her bed. The tired girl wasn't happy about it all, but the least she could do eas investigate it a bit. Part of being a hero was sticking one's nose into others business even if they didn't want you to. And as jerky as the sounded, Kyla understood the sentiment of it. Many people didn't like to burden others with their problems but needed help to solve them. There was no doubt that other people heard the voice and chose not to do anything about it. They wanted a solution and Kyla was going to take care of it, even if the didn't ask. After all, it was everyone's big day tomorrow, so she needed to make sure everyone was ready for it. She didn't want Yuuei to gain a reputation for being tired and lazy because no one got any sleep. Kyla took a moment to parse herself before venturing out. The shirt she wore was long enough to cover her akin to what a dress would have. And there shouldn't be a whole lot of people roaming about the campus this late at night so she figured she was fine to go as she was. She did slip on some flip-flops to cover her feet. She wasn't about to walk outside barefoot and step on something. She didn't need that kind of injury when she was about to take part in a physically demanding event. One extra thing that she took with her was a flashlight. While her core would glow a bit in the dark, it wasn't bright enough to provide any real light. SO this was going to help her seen in the dark in case the night lights that were on around the campus weren't enough. She left her dorm room, leaving both her Nasods behind, and made her way down to the bottom floor. She didn't see the others ass she went down, but as she made her way to the front door and the main common area the girl was surprised to see that she wasn't the only one investigating. Here she was thinking she was the hero in the situation and yet others were here trying to figure out what was going on. Namely, it was Nyke that was already downstairs in her sleeping clothes. As quiet as the girl was. she was always this silent cutie that seemed to do whatever she wanted. "It woke you too huh?" Kyla said out loud as a way to let Nyke know that she was here as well. With someone like Nyke, it seemed like a bad idea to scare or surprise her. She was pretty strong for her size and it was frightening sometimes. Glancing toward the door for a moment, Kyla quickly walked over to where Nyke was to stand next to her. "I can't really tell where it's coming from. It's really weird." She added in reference to the voice that woke her from her sleep and was still going. it seemed like they had a mystery on their hands. ”

Ericka's quick glance at the area outside her window didn't turn up anything. All she saw was the usual thing she saw every time she looked out that window. The majority of it was just plain darkness. The only spots lit up on the ground were the ones that the lights outside were set upon. Whether they were the lamps for the walkways or the lights attached to the building didn't matter. They only lit up a small portion of the campus and there were plenty of things that could hide in the darkness. Ericka could have just ignored it and went back to sleep, but that would be abandoning her responsibilities. She was the class president of class 1-B, so she had to check on things like this. Not only that but ignoring strange things was pretty antithetical to being a professional hero. It was exactly this kind of thing that she was supposed to check out for the sake of others. She didn't know if anyone else was awake either, so if she didn't do it, no one else would. It could even be vandals trying to ruin tomorrow's festival. Ericka let out one final yawn before mustering up the energy t go downstairs. She slipped on her slippers and tugged on the bottom of her nightie in a vain attempt to get some extra length on it now that she was going out. Thankfully, just about everyone else should have been asleep, so she didn't have to worry about that so much. And if she was going to go outside, she was going to need a flashlight or something. She didn't have one in her dorm room, but she was pretty sure there were a few in some box in the dorm's common area. There was always a set of extra flashlights in case of a power outage or something. What she did take, however, was her purse. The clothes she slept in didn't have pockets. She couldn't imagine sleeping in something that wasn't smooth. The double layer of a pocket and the folded part where it would be sewn in seemed like a pain to have pressed against her body while she was trying to sleep. It seemed frivolous, but it was one of those things no one ever thought about until it happened and why Ericka didn't have any sleeping clothes with pockets. So a purse to keep her key in was what she was going to go out with. She slowly made her way downstairs. The girl sleepily put all her weight on each step she took down the stairs and each one had an audible thump. Eventually, she'd make it down to the second floor. She wasn't going to the first just yet. Ericka was just a teenage girl after all. She learned important things from her mother and one of those things was about not going out alone. So even though she was probably going to get yelled at, Ericka made her way to Lani's dorm room. She took out her phone and attempted to call the girl, hoping she wouldn't be too upset with being woken up by the class president. Nyke Nora, Kyla Casey, Lani Bijan

these rapid eyes will keep on moving As Lani stood up, she stretched a bit. She needed t shake her limbs about a little to get them moving when she really just wanted to lie in bed some more. Her eyes glanced over at her night light and a small smirk grew on her face. "Okay dad, I won't be too rough on it." She said to herself as she looked at it. Holy Order wasn't heard of much in Japan, but he was a pretty big hero back home. Lani idolized him and also knew something about him that even he didn't know. Lani knew the secret identity of his arch nemesis and the fact that Holy Order had a daughter that he didn't even know about. Lani still didn't know how she was going to deal with that one. What a pain in the butt this all was. But that was enough about that. She moved to the door and stopped. She took a moment to straighten out her nightie.
One end of it got stuck in her underwear as she slid around her bed, so she needed to straighten that out before she stepped foot outside. As little as Lani wore, she at least tried not to look like a complete mess. But as she tugged and then patted the white fabric down, there was a sudden ring of her phone. Lani jumped in place in surprise as it took a moment to realize what it was. She quickly reached over and scrambled it pick the thing up as she tried to see who it was. It seemed like a message from the ever faithful class president. Why was she calling her in the middle of the night? It was a rhetorical question since the answer was pretty obvious. Lani couldn't possibly be the only one that heard the voice outside, so surely the class president would check it out as well. She tapped the icon and held the phone up to her ear. She pinned it between her ear and her shoulder as she reached for her door to open it. Lani didn't really have to say anything since the person calling her was right there. Letting out an annoyed sigh, Lani placed her hand on Ericka's shoulder and shook her head.
"You tryin' to give me a heart attack woman." She chuckled as she spoke just to show she wasn't all that mad. "I guess you want to check out that annoying ass voice huh?" She added, assuming the blonde had come with that concern. If so, the first course of action was pretty single, they needed to get to the ground floor. Provided they went there with no issues, the two would run into two other students from class 1-B that were also awake. Lani gave them a lazy wave and yawn before actually speaking up. "Seems like we got a little party awake to check some stuff out." It was a bother to be disturbed in the middle of the night, but hopefully, they didn't have to stay out too long. ulla

Demon Machine i no longer fear ending my hell Nyke's attempt to leave the building was interrupted, but not by someone in charge. instead of getting caught going out by an adult, she was found by her friend and classmate, Kyla. Nyke was not the only one awake at this time and going to investigate the voice. It was a good thing too. As far as the night went, Nyke didn't really have many tools to help in finding such a thing. She just wanted to check out where it was and see if she could quiet it. With Kyla here and with a flashlight, things would be a lot easier to take care of. Nyke nodded when Kyla asked if the voice woke her up too. She wasn't sure if the whole dorm had heard it, but it was nice to know that she wasn't the only one. Nyke didn't have to worry about thinking she was going crazy and on a wild goose chase.
"We'll find out."
As usual, her responses were short and sweet, but it showed that Nyke wanted to take care of what was disrupting her. The faster they dealt with it the faster she could go back to sleep and deal with her day tomorrow. The two of them would have no problem search around for a little bit and going back to sleep. However, their party was going to have two more members added to it. From upstairs came Ericka and Lani. They came down to the lobby together both still dressed in their sleeping clothes like Nyke and Kyla were. Nyke was curious as to how many more students would wake up and come downstairs to check things out. This was a school for heroes after all. It was their very nature to do this kind of thing, so Nyke couldn't really be surprised by it. Inside, she nodded coyly to Lani's remark. They could all go in together and make the search even faster. It was quite useful.
Once everyone was ready, Nyke stepped outside to attempt to get a good look around. And immediately exiting the building revealed a source of the voice. While it sounded it like was all over the place while inside, the open night air narrowed it down. Off in the distance toward the site of the sports festival. No one was there at the moment but in a few hours, it was going to be bustling with people. It was a fair distance from the dorm building, which was odd since they could hear the voice so clearly, but there was no doubt that was where the voice was coming from. The group was going to have to walk over to the site in the dead of night to see what was going on. Without a word, Nyke walked on, assuming the others would realize this and follow. She hoped that once they got closer the location o the voice would be easier to find, but if not they had quite the large search area ahead of them. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ
