Demon Machine i no longer fear ending my hell Quite a bit of time had passed since the hero school started to open up. With Yuuei starting the trend, a number of other schools were opening and the whole professional hero thing was becoming more predominant. But the things used to help the schools with training their future heroes weren't completely sufficient. Yuuei, along with the other schools, had the very basics. Small drones and practice dummies. Nothing that could provide a real treat or real opposition to the students and the growing power of their quirks. Fortunately, the lead of Yuuei's Robotics and Technology club was looking to solve this very problem. She wanted to create a set of machines that could be used by students to train and fight against. Something that actually put up a good fight. And now that the sports festival was here, she was able to put some of her designs to the test! It was going to be a demonstration, both to do off the power of the students and the application of the machines that she created with the help of the Hellion Corporation. She didn't have the resources, skills, or technology to do this all on her own. However, the company that helped her did. And with the prototyping done, she could perform some very real tests and hopefully get them implemented by the school after the festival.
Set up in an open area, three large trailer crates were rolled into the area. They were what housed the machines that were going to be used in the practice exercise. Students were encouraged to come and test the machines and their quirks, even if they were from other schools. And the club leader? Nyke was hoping that her school was going to perform the best. Even though she was the one designing the machines, she wanted to be surprised by the capabilities of her classmates. She was sitting at a table that was in front o the trailers. It had a canvas canopy that stood over two separate fold-out tables. Between both of them was a portable generator to power the laptops and other electronics that were going to be used to collect testing data. Likewise, a few cameras were positioned around the testing area to record everything that was being done. They needed as much information as they could get to see this project through.
With Nyke, who was wearing her school uniform, were three assistants. They were developers from the Hellion corporation and were excited to see their hard work come to fruition. With the company's recent move to hero products, they were eager to see their work used in creating the heroes of tomorrow. So all that was left were for students to come by and try the machines out. Essentially, there would be three rounds of combat, represented by each of the trailers. Once enough people joined in, the first wave would be set upon them and they were free to fight and wreck the machines as best they could. It was all in the name of science. @tag | 511 words | Open to 3 Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

Yumi had been wondering around the sports festival a lot with no real aim in mind, but that lead to a lot of fun encounters with her fellow school-mates. Classmates she'd been told was innacurate so even in her head she was trying to correct herself rather than slip up and have someone nitpick at her about it. All the same though because of her fun encounters she was ever on the lookout for more, and with how many of the sports festival's events required her to use her quirk, she'd even taken to wearing her full outfit under her clothes to pull out at a moment's notice. Good thing too it seemed, as the next thing to catch her eye seemed like it'd need her to use it.
Spotting some students chatting about it, Yumi inquired and learned there was apparently going to be a robotics club testing phase for their new robots? Yumi had heard there might be robots added to the school's training dummies, but wow! She hadn't expected them to be ready while she was still at the school. Rushing over both out of sheer curiosity and eagerness to help, she was still wearing her uniform over her hero outfit, but with a pep to her step and a bright smile she seemed more than eager to see what she could do, quickly approaching a girl who looked like they'd be in charge of the show and presenting herself.
"Hey! Sorry if this is weird, I mean, I could be completely off, but I'm here for the robotics presentation? Apparently you guys needed volunteers?" She couldn't be sure of course, not knowing everyone at her school let alone what clubs they were tied too, but judging from her surroundings, the open space, and the containers for what could be the robots, she was sure she was in the right place.

--- arisu --- - - - Arisu was getting tired of coming out of fights in worse shape than her opponents.
It wasn't even that she lost a lot. She didn't, she actually won a pretty respectable number of her fights- but the manner of her quirk and its distinctly harmless method of tearing down living opponents by eroding their energy supplies meant that any decent fight she was in, she was guaranteed to come out the other side in worse shape than whoever or whatever she was facing.
So long as she was fighting living opponents, anyhow.
The advertisement to come and test the practice drones had been surprising- she hadn't realized that the support class had been working on anything like combat drones, much as the idea made perfect sense in retrospect- but once she'd seen it, she knew what she wanted to do between her cheer sessions and personal competitions. And she was pretty sure she knew the perfect cohort to pair up with to help keep a little of the heat off her while she worked out some of her stress.
robot fight club my dude come meet me @ these coords bring fighting clothes and ur A game or else (jk but for real tho)
Arisu sent her message via the class messenger system, then tucked away her iFruit. She didn't have much time to change, much less change back, but... the only alternative was risking damaging her cheer uniform with several performances still slated for the day. No, that wasn't gonna work, not at all. The only option, then, was to change quickly into what she had on hand, which amounted to her most basic workout outfit- trackpants in the school's blue and white and a white tanktop. She'd have to either trust her sneakers would survive, or else switch to fighting barefoot- either was fine with her, but time was of the essence, and if she was gonna make it at the same time Ken did, presuming his usual zeal for charging face first into fights, she had to switch clothes right now.
Darting into one of the bathrooms to change, she made good time on her trek over to the demonstration area, arriving on the heels of class 1-C's redheaded president, not that Arisu herself had any idea that's who this was. Unfortunately- she thought, anyway- the girl was already reserving a session with the robots. Arisu waited for a polite moment to interject and then spoke up. "Ah- excuse me? I have two to test the robots as well, myself and one other. He'll be here shortly. I don't think Ken-san will mind sharing the ring, but if he does- or you do, miss- can we be put down for the next round?" She did her best to stay civil and polite despite not really knowing exactly what the procedure here was supposed to be.
While she waited on a response, she glanced around. Ken was quite the quick fellow- she doubted it'd take him long to arrive, but her nerves started to act up anyhow, sparking a minor anxiety bout as she started to panic over how embarrassing and inconvenient it would be to hold things up for someone who wasn't showing up. She hadn't waited to confirm that he'd come out, after all- what if he had something else to do? What if he'd found some more interesting fights? What if those more interesting fights had laid him entirely out and he wasn't even conscious to respond, much less attend?
These thoughts and more exploded through Arisu's mind in the few moments between her inquiry and what was Ken's almost inevitable arrival despite all her anxious mental deviations- though not a one of them showed outwardly. She was good at that. TAGS: WORD COUNT: 635 TEMPLATE BY ELIZA @ BOTE & THQ

"Robots. Fighting Robots? Combat drones.” Ken barked at an innocent bystander as he attempted to describe the area he was searching for, “Robots you fight for fun... Then again I guess all fights are fun? Do you want to fight?”
The lanky male Ken had been harassing shook his head, nervously shaking at the vigorous conversation, “N-No kid, I just run the ramen stand. If it’s a fight you want you should try the area designated for it right of here.” the noodle maker tried his best to keep his current batch of stringy treats from overcooking.
“Noodles? Let me get a cup!” the teen’s mind had completely ignored the bit about where the combat drones were and demanded a cup of noodles instead. Looking down at the currently warming noodles, “And don’t be stingy on the eggs!”
The stand owner would, of course, oblige the customer despite the earlier bit of banter. The noodles were placed in a paper bowl, not too hot, not too warm. After such three eggs were cracked and fried before being placed atop the dish.
Licking his lips Ken took the hardy bowl and nodded to the chief before tossing a few stray dollars onto the counter. Realizing that he didn’t have any chopsticks he lowered his face into his plastic bowl and simply at the noodles out of it that way. Though, as he began to walk he soon realized that he had forgotten to get directions.
For a few minutes he roamed till he had somehow found the demonstration area, he’d make his way towards a familiar figure, bowl still in hands and a mouth full of noodles. Unlike the other student,s it seemed he was underdressed having only worn a white and black raglan sleeved T-shirt, a pair of black sweat pants and sneakers... Not even running sneakers, just a pair of slide ons. He probably should have better dressed for this.
“Ey Ari, I mae et” he called to the girl with a mouth full of food, “Where are the robots?”

Demon Machine i no longer fear ending my hell Nyke sat silently, as she often did, watching people pass by the demonstration with curiosity and cowardice. No one had approached her yet, but that was to be expected. Being the first to try out something like this was always hard. But once the first session got started, Nyke was sure that she would be rolling in volunteers afterward. But Nyke was patient, at least in this regard. She was fine with sitting at the table and watching the rest of the event from her seat. She wasn't all that sociable, so aside from the friends in her class and the members of the robotics club, Nyke didn't expect to speak with anyone else. That was what she had the three assistants for. Fortunately, the wait wasn't too long before someone popped up. Nyke looked up to immediately see a pair of bouncing objects attached to a person. Her eyes silently moved upward to the face of a redhead girl that took interest in the project here. No words were spoken, but Nyke gave her a quick and silent nod like how a child would give to their mother to answer yes to a question. It wasn't a helpful response at all, but Nyke wasn't a speaker. Following her were two more student and two more people she really didn't know. One notably less busty and one that spoke oddly because of the food in his mouth. It was here that her voice could finally be heard, sort of. Nyke spoke softly and what seemed like an attempt to not be heard at all. And when she did speak, there were only two words that were supposed to communicate everything she was supposed to give them for the demonstration. "The First."It wasn't helpful at all. But as she spoke, one of the assistants turned to face the teens with a worried smile. They had grown used to Nyke's demeanor and knew they were there to pick up her slack. "Oh! This way please." He said, pointing to the other end of the table. There, they had to write their names and their quirks. It was some basic identifying information for the data analysis later. There was a header on the sheet with a pen sitting over it that said "Group A." Once everyone was set, he motioned the teen to step into the clearing. "I'll give you a minute or two to get ready and we'll get the first round ready for you. We basically want you to fight and destroy the machines we send out. They are designed to be replaced easily, so go wild." He instructed. He kept a very professional voice, but there were hints of it trembling in excitement as they were on the verge of the first live test. Even Nyke, sitting over at the table as silent as she was watched the three of them expectantly like an ever watching god viewing its playthings. And with that, the allotted time was given. They could strategize or whatever, but the test wasn't designed to be really difficult right away. The first was going to be against nine small drones. They were designed to be quick moving targets that distracted and annoyed the opposing force. They were your standard four-pronged drones with blades on each wing. And at the center of each of them was a small pellet gun mounted to the undercarriage. It fired a volley of three rubber pellets at their targets in regular intervals. They wouldn't cause any permanent damage, but they did sting a bit if they made contact with bare skin at full force The effective range of the guns were only a few meters, but the drones were made to be swift rather than powerful. Hitting them would take some accuracy or some area of effect skills if the students had them. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

The odd responses of the girl she'd approached didn't give her much to go off of, but she could at least tell she seemed to be in the right place. Her eyes drifted over the girl before her, wondering if she'd invaded her personal space with how quiet she seemed to be, and backed off quietly herself, eyes drifting behind herself and noticing the two other potential voolunteers that were joining her, smiling brightly at both of them with a wave. "Hi! Nice to meet you, I'm Yumi. You guys here for the robots too?" She beemed brightly at the two of them, ever trying to be her upbeat self and hopping a few steps back to join them rather than feeling like she was intruding on the other girl's space.
With the better guidance from the assistant, Yumi followed the group and offered a warm smile to the assistant herself before signing down her name, though she did add 'curved lightning' in brackets given they may need to use their quirks for this, and it was always a good habit for her to get used to using her hero monicer. She wondered if the other two would do the smae and idly glanced at the sign up sheet as they added their names to it, before drifting her eyes back to the assistant. With the minute to get ready Yumi would strip out of her school uniform rather openly, but it was quickly evident from the blue fabrics coating her skin she was just getting down to her hero costume for the event, a skin tight blue outfit that covered a fair chunk of her body with space for a midrift, a slither of her thighs, and the sleeves of the outfit working down to her hands, acting as fingerless gloves.
"Dunno about you two, but robot testing? Pretty exciting don't ya think?~"
She was still a little cautious despite the 'go ahead' to fire off. Not wanting to break everything too readily, but as the drones revealed themselves she...well her mentality didn't change initially, drones could be very expensive, and Yumi was about to say as much. "You sure we can smash these on you? I mean I know they're meant to be replaceable but aren't these things expensive to-AH!" With her skin tight suit, a pellet shot from one of the drones was like a shot directly against her skin, and Yumi recoiled from the sting, her body briefly flaring with electrical energy before she turned her eyes back to the drones. "H-hey I wasn't- AH!" Another shot and Yumi was pouting harshly, throwing her arms down, her entire body coated in a blue stream of energy, a thicker coating of 'juice' about her hands.
"Okay, I'll take your word on the replaceable aspect...!" She followed the one that had been cheeky enough to fire at her, throwing her arms forward, streams of energy cutting through the air and striking one of the wings of the drone, the electrical drone spiralling off to the side without one of it's propellors to keep it aloft.

--- arisu --- - And Then There Was One -
Hey! Ken made it after all! Arisu beamed as he walked up, but blinked and recoiled a little when it became clear he'd crammed his face full of food on the way. She was pretty sure she'd regretted every fight she'd ever had on a full stomach, but- hey, maybe his stomach was made of sterner stuff than her own. She forced another smile and waved him closer. "Ken! C'mon, we're gonna get started, finish up your lunch already!"
The redhead already present posed a question, which Arisu was quick to answer with her own bright smile. "Sure are! Ken's up for just about any fight he can find, so I figured he'd make a good partner for this- I'm Arisu, and-" She said, as their... host..? spoke up and announced her first guess would work just fine, and the assistants started guiding them where they needed to go. "-and that's Ken, which I suppose is pretty self explanatory since... I said his name earlier!" She chuckled a little, wincing internally at her awkward introduction, and glanced back to be sure Ken was coming with, waving him closer.
Scribbling down her name- regular and heroic- Arisu stepped back to let Ken get in and put down his own as she stepped in towards Yumi, nodding enthusiastically in agreement. "Yeah! Totally!" No hero suit for Arisu right now- track pants and tank top were all she had time to change into. She spared another look at Ken as the drones were released, going at it immediately. For her, the permission to go hard meant that if they did any excessive damage, it was on the crew for not setting limits reasonable for their own devices. Black fire coursed down out of her pores on each arm as she leapt towards the closest clump, aiming to get near before they could scatter too far, letting her momentum carry her forward as she ducked and reduced her profile, trying to avoid any shots as she closed, a cheeky grin on her face. She'd always wanted to try this.
"SHORASENKEN!" shouted the girl as she shot upwards in a twisting spiral of black flame, catching one drone on her fist and carrying it up with her a couple feet before her fist exploded and sent a thick gout of blackfire up around the drone. That sort of blow was enough to shatter stone and then some- it could very well do for the drone as well! As she came down, she did her best to bring one fist down in a curving arc to catch a second drone and smash it into the ground if she could- possibly not plausible, if they'd scattered after the first hit.
Striking the ground in a kneel and popping back up to her feet, blackfire'd arms whipping up in a boxer's guard, she slashed her eyes left and right, checking on Yumi and Ken's progress, already starting to sidestep and strafe the center of the ring to keep herself from being too easy a target!

Ken... Didn’t have a means to fight air based opponents thus once the drones began to fly his mind drew a blank as he slurped the last of his noodles. “How... How am I supposed to...” his words trailed off as one of the drones loomed over him.
There was a beat of silence from him as he looked up at the flying contraption, it made so little sense. He expected ROBOTS, like the ones in the movies. Things with human bodies that would spring to life and fight him. Sort of like, Androids? Or maybe Cyborgs? A human like robot thing that could battle him and keep him on his toes! Instead he was to face flying things! He had signed just after Arisu and took his position a little ways off from the girl.
“Hey uh, when do the big robots get here-” a round of pellets dotted his forehead making him flinch from the sting, “Ouch, what the heck was that?” there was a second dotting, only garnering a low growl from him.
“That’s not-” a third time he was pelted.
Fed up Ken would look about the place for something to swat this fly, turning his attention to a stray folding chair. Holding his breath Ken picked up the chair and chucked it at the drone as hard as he could. A move of sheer annoyance more than anything.
Had the drone gone down he’d pick up said chair and began to wail on the helpless avian with it.

Demon Machine i no longer fear ending my hell As the group started to work with the drones, both Nyke and her assistants started to take notes. Nyke, in particular, was interested in their quirks and how she could design machines that worked with and around them. She didn't want to make machines that counter every student, but she did want to make it so that some students were better with some machines than others. So far, this proved to be the case with the flying drones. While Yumi and Arisu were able to defeat some of the drones with relative ease, Ken had a little more trouble with it. The first point of interest was Yumi's arching energy. It seemed electrical in nature. It made aiming for the drones pretty easy since they conducted it and used it for power. Nyke made a note to introduce both a rubber casing around vital components and some kind of free absorption module for sturdier machine types as an option for them. As for Arisu, things were a little more cryptic. The black fire she created seemed to act like normal flames, so where the black coloration came from was the anomalous effect. Hopefully, the other machines were able to show the limits of her quirk. As for Ken, she wasn't able to get a good look at his. He was simply using a chair to swat down the drones and went even further to keep smacking it once they were on the ground. It was excessive and Nyke could only hope that it was out of frustration and not his natural state of being. As for the destroyed drones, they broke apart when attacked. However, they didn't just shatter into a million pieces. They broke at predetermined spots on the drone, namely where the wings connected to the core unit. And even when the core unit fell, it remained mostly intact. This made recovery easier for them once the test was over. So far, four of the drones had been taken care of, leaving five to continue to pelt the students that were there. They were serving their purpose as an introductory enemy and as a distraction. But a distraction from what exactly? Nyke turned in her seat to knock lightly on one of the trailers. The assistant inside popped his head out to look at Nyke as she nodded to him. They were going to set the next batch on them right away. The drones were designed to be simple and weak. They weren't the main force or obstacle. These next machines were going to be the ones that were a little harder to defeat. From this trailer, three larger robots emerged. They were humanoid and stood at the height of the average adult male. Their bodies were sleek and gray from the metal that encased their inner components. They were going to be tougher than the drones that were currently out. While those drones could only really take a hit or two, these machines could take quite a few blows. Each one was equipped with a foam baton for them to swing like a sword. They seemed like basic machines, but care was put into their movement to make them more natural. It was still easy to tell that they were mechanically, but one of the purposes of the test was to help them naturalize their movements. They walked on to the testing area and each one designated a target. Each one was going to focus on one student while the drones flying around supported them with cover fire. It was here that things would get mixed on a bit and Nyke hoped to see more from her schoolmates. Their first strike came as a single downward slash at the students aimed to make them back off. And, of course, while the new machines attacked, the drones continued to pelt and spray the students to divide their attention. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

(genuinely sorry for the wait guys)
Yumi was focusing primarily on the drones but she wasn't ignorant to the two that had arrived with her to act as the test subjects for the robots here. Or where the robots test subjects for them? Probably the former but the girl making notes seemed to be paying way more attention to the three of them than the robots specifically. Yumi felt another pellet pelt her forehead and it drew her attention back to the drones, firing off another stream of electrical energy to take down one of the robots. Her brow quirked as she noticed how precisely it seemed to come apart. Was that on purpose? Honestly if it was Yumi would be really impressed, and she made a note to ask after the test battle with the bots.
Her eyes flickered to the other girl helping her fight, and as she watched her perform some sort of black-fire infused attack, the words caught her mind...no that. That was 'shoryuken' right? It sounded very similar to the street fighter term and she was a little tempted to call out-ah heck she was gonna do it anyway. Dipping to the side of a fired pellet so she didn't get too many bruises, she called out to the girl with a light chuckle to her voice and cupped her hands around her mouth to better aim her voice. "Hey did you get that from street fighter!?" She called out. She'd feel a little dumb if that wasn't the case but she was semi confident it might have been at least a little inspired, but the focus was on the drones of course and with another blast from both of her hands, she watched as the electrical energy arced from a near hit to a near miss (aka, it hit) bursting the robot into perfect pieces once again. Yeah, she'd definitely have to ask if that was intentional.
She heard an odd little banging off to the side but for now she was turning her eyes to Ken. She was pretty sure he was a classmate of hers and she didn't want to throw him off his game too much...but unable to resist a chuckle. He looked like he was having a tantrum against these things but Yumi would make sure not to laugh too much. It was an unknown enemy and she had no idea what his quirk was. For all she knew this was just his best course of action. She knew for instance if someone like Kirk was facing these robots, his sack quirk would be of no use if he wasn't carrying baseballs with him or something, so yeah, maybe throwing across a lawn chair was just...the best option here. Maybe it wasn't, but ya know what? Power to him. He was trying and Yumi would call out some not-well thought words of encouragement. "Nice one with the lawn chair! Try and make sure you grip it from the legs to best extend your reach!"
With the distraction of watching the two people working with her, Yumi noticed the approach of the humanoid robots just a little late. Her eyes turned towards them sharply as she heard them wind up for a swing. She crouched low, and in a burst of blue she seemed to zip to the robot's side, and then behind it entirely, hovering in the air behind it with her two rapid bursts of speed thanks to the new tricks Darren had been teaching her.
"Assuming your designed to react like a human...!"
She clasped both hands around it's head and her feet finally touched the ground, tugging it back and trying to get it off balance before firing streams from one hand to the other through it's metallic head, hoping to fry it hard, knocking it out like someone would a real person and grinning as she felt the charge pulsate from one arm and back down the other. She wasn't good at absorbing electricity, but she was definitely used to the sensation of her own, to the point this was more than easy for her to handle, though she had no idea if it'd be enough for the robot.
She was however aware of the final pelt one of the drones made to the side of her head.

--- arisu --- - - - The introduction of the new droids was immediately intriguing to Arisu. They looked far more intricate and well designed than the flying ones- no, not better designed, just sturdier. Yumi had tasked herself with taking out their flying opponents, apparently, but the approach of the melee unit had her thoroughly sidelined, and there were still a couple airborne- which was something Ken seemed to struggle with. Worth remembering.
"What fighter? Whatever-" Arisu cut off with a grunt as braced her legs, curled her palms together and shoved them forward, launching a double dose of blackfire towards a drone, flashing through it and breaking down the pre-designed weak points in a heartbeat. "-are you insinuating? I would never borrow-" Her arms swung sideways in a huge arc, hands curled like they were grabbing the ball of flame at a distance, the fireball's trajectory abruptly cutting to the side and blazing past the last airborne drone to send its pieces to the mat. "-a name from Roy and Kim! I don't even know any characters with those names!"
She was quite clearly bullshitting, though- and in fun, judging by her grin.
The downward swing of the approaching droid didn't force her back, but forwards. As more than a few opponents had found, Arisu's response to close quarters was not to run, but to clinch, getting as close as possible to start landing rapid blows propelled by jets of black flame. Most interestingly, however, was the readings that Nyke and the others were getting- while Arisu's punches did little in the way of damage, every strike was rapidly depleting the android's energy levels. Depending on how much power they'd been build with, it'd only take perhaps two to four well-placed blows to blaze through its entire power supply at the current rate of depletion, unless those energy stores were truly prodigious.
"There you go, Ken! No more air droids! GO WILD!" She knew from personal experience that he could- and she was very, very excited to see him go to work on something besides herself. TAGS: WORD COUNT:351 TEMPLATE BY ELIZA @ BOTE & THQ
