In hindsight, the sports festival would've been the perfect opportunity for Jasmine Noir to test her mettle. Schools from all around Japan apparently flocked to Yuuei on this particular occasion for one reason or another, whether to participate in the events or just investigate what the now famed hero training school had to offer. She scoffed at the idea; how many students even took their training seriously? That was a question she had pondered on far too many times considering her M.O. of not giving a fuck.
Ah well, life worked in strange ways, and Jaz at this point wasn't even all that interested in the festival itself or what it brought. Surprisingly enough she was only in the mood to revisit some old traditions that she had back in NYC. Every morning she'd go out to the courts. Back home those were always occupied by people with dreams of joining the NBA or some such nonsense. It was always a mystery to her how there was always someone with a basketball there, be it three in the afternoon or three in the morning. But, well, at the very least she always had someone to join in for a game or two - basketball was one of the few sports Jasmine actually enjoyed, after all.
Normally they wouldn't let her join, being a girl and all, and especially because she was always the youngest on the court playing against older teens and adults. Then again they always changed their opinion after the girl managed to dunk on their asses despite her short height - relative to them, anyway. She was no pushover in terms of basketball. While she wasn't anywhere near pro level, in street ball she was one of the better players out there in the burrows of NYC, capable of breaking the ankles of even the most seasoned street ball players. Her shot wasn't half bad (her threes could use some work though) and she could leap out of the damn court if she wanted to... especially if you let her use her quirk.
In which case, Jasmine, with a ball in her hand, walked along the main alley, ignoring all the stalls from her peers both from Yuuei and the other schools. She had received a few cat calls from those unfortunate sobs from the latter of the groups mentioned previously, entertaining them with nothing but a scoff and sometimes a light glare which was easily enough to shut people up. Yuuei had set up several basketball courts in the festival area and Jasmine fully intended to capitalize... strangely enough, some of them were equipped to handle quirks as well. Reinforced floors, paint and hoops, not to mention the balls were made out of an entirely different material too. Huh. Curious. She'd have to find out what it was - maybe she could use it for her makeshift hero suit or something.
Regardless of all of that, Jasmine quickly found herself on a regular court, bouncing a ball against the court. She hopped in place for a little bit, testing out the waters. Her muscles were still sore from the rigorous training she consistently put herself through... but despite that she began dribbling the ball. One crossover, two, one between her legs, one behind her back, etc. She began something along the lines of shadow play, much alike shadow boxing... in her mind she visualized her opponent, a male in his early twenties, guarding her. Eyes narrowing, legs bending ever so slightly to lower her center of gravity, Jasmine casually began bouncing the ball along the court, coming up with her next play.
In the next moment her sequence began. A rush forward with an intense change of pace... then a sudden stop to throw the defender off balance. A fake, then a crossover into a 180 spin into the different direction... and her defender was already behind her, trying to catch up. As soon as she was in the paint she leaped upwards. The defender conjured up by her mind wasn't far behind and leaped for the block as she attempted a layup, forcing her to double clutch into her other hand, avoiding the swat. Then, as though it was icing on the cake, she used her left to simply toss floater into the hoop, hitting nothing but net.
She smiled to herself as she landed on her feet, still got it. Though it would be nice to play against an actual human being, not her thought projection.
