At long last it had arrived, the event everyone had been looking forward ever since it had been announced by the faculty of U.A. The excitement of the students was quite understandable, after all School Festivals were a time of excitement and fun, and it seemed that their school was about to have both in excess! Dubbed the Sports Festival, it seemed that the main purpose of this event was for the students to demonstrate their skills to the outside world. It was a reasonable purpose, after all with the recent events it was not unusual for the faculty to have decided to take this opportunity to improve the image of both the school and their students, especially in the wake of Semper Fi.
However, what did come as a surprise was the fact that the school had succeeded in convincing several other schools to attend the event. Hero institutes in their own right, those four schools would join U.A in a competition which would surely serve as a foundation for the students their reputation to the outside world. After all, Elise had become aware of just how cruel and biased the media could be. They did everything in their might to get a good story, and yet after her conversation with Orlov-sensei, the burgundy-haired lass had to admit she still didn't hate the media. If anything, she was more strongly determined than before to fight the media in a way that could work: by giving them a better story to write about. She would perform well in the Sports Festival so that the media had something to write home about.
In terms of the situation, she already had quite an interesting educational background. A former student at Tokyo Medical, Elise had enrolled in the General Studies course and worked her way up to become capable enough to transfer directly into the hero course. She had trained intensely to ensure she was more than ready for this event, and she was going to make certain that she would make her family, her mentor Touma and beloved Tetsuko proud. Speaking of Tetsuko, by a rare chance her iron-blooded knight had not been at her side. About a half hour ago she was called in by the cooking club for a favor, perhaps to help them set up a booth or something. In the past, there was no doubt Elise would have been annoyed at this distraction, but not it was just a minor tingle of discomfort, that quickly faded away when Tetsuko promised her that she would return to her side soon.
"You really spoil me too much Tetsu~" Elise whispered gently as she wandered among the various vendor stalls that were set up in the main alley on the campus. She had to admit that after their time in Kashima it felt like things had changed, for the better. Their mutual devotion and affection for one another had allowed both girls to grow closer to one another in such a sweet manner, and even if they were not at each other's side, it just made the moment of their reunion all the more beautiful.
Having just finished ordering some waffles from a vendor stand who proclaimed to had imported them straight from Belgium, after all the country was known for its Brussels Waffles, Elise had to admit she was looking forward to samping them, considering it's been ages since she tried some genuine Brussels Waffles! Of course, as typical she had asked to put some powdered suggar and whipped cream on them, and after seeking the peace and comfort of a small bench a short distance away from the husstle and bustle of the festival, did Elise start enjoying her snack.
A gentle bite was taken into the waffle, and with the flavor spreading into her mouth the burgundy-haired lass couldn't help but find her cheeks flush up lightly and a blissful smile spreading on her lips. Damd, those waffles were awesome! She totally had to tell Tetsuko about them later. After swallowing the bits that she had chewed on, she took another bite and pondered a bit further about the upcoming events.
As one might expect Elise had picked the Obstacle Course as her choice of event to participate in. It made the most sense for her to do so, although she had to admit that the team-based tournament also sounded tempting. Then again, she knew Tetsuko was competing there, and it would had been more fun for her to cheer for her lover then. However, the obstacle course would prove to be an interesting challenge for sure. While she might had possessed speed which arguably put her on par with some of the fastest students at U.A, like Daimon Darren, it also helped that she possessed an immense amount of stamina, perhaps even more than most of the students. However, unlike them she had one pretty tough weakness to deal with: After her fight with Nick Cross during Halloween, her quirk organ had gotten damaged, and as a result she had become incapable of maintaining her transformation for extended periods of time. She would need to figure out when to use her transformation, and ensure that every moment spend was speend to its fullest potential. In a way one could say that for the obstacle course her transformation would be well and truly an ace card. Most would expect her to likely employ it right from the start, a reasonable deduction, but till she knew what obstacles she was facing, she had to be careful if she wanted to leave a suitable result to be proud of.
However, for the time being tactics and strategies could wait, for she had a delicious waffle to nom, and judging from the fact there were bits of powdered sugar on her lips and even some whipped cream on her cheeks, it was clear just how much the Eisenberg lass was enjoying the snack she had brought from the school's European visitors!

Dreams breathe life into men. The stars... I'll reach them.
Morning of the first day of the Yuuei Sports Festival. Running late. Great. I hate this, Ryuusei kept grumbling in a low voice as he quickly get dressed at the same time as he brushed his teeth... and also while putting things into his black backpack. The room was a mess, quite honestly. The room of someone who spent basically two months shut down at home recovering from an almost deadly injury. Gratefully no one knew about it, so that at least was cool. Despite it being public knowledge that he had fought and almost captured the fugitive Nick Cross, the fact that Ryuusei had his insides scrambled - which required a long and dangerous emergency operation that left him with an enormous scar - after months upon months of putting too much on his body was a well kept secret. The media, however, would surely love to know about this. They would probably call it justice or karma How did they write it? Yeah: Ryuusei was "a spectre (...) striking down (...) without mercy". But were they wrong? That was, in fact, the truth. That was who Ryuusei Igarashi was during the incident at Semper Fi: a dragon that brought with him fifty storms. Rushing downstairs - backpack filled with books and the school uniform - Ryuusei tied a black bandana around his forehead as he yelled goodbye to his parents. While putting and tieing the laces of his black boots in the entry hall, he could hear the voice of his mother. Don't push yourself too hard! Ryuusei replied as he closed the door behind him. I won't!And then he started running at full speed towards U.A. Highschool. The silver chain of his earring dangled with the wind, something that his necklace only didn't do because it was hidden beneath a oversized black hoodie anda army green bomber jacket. His jeans were regular and didn't have any rips like some that Ryuusei possessed, so thankfully there wasn't any cold making the teenagers knees freezing. The long he ran, the more he thought how he hated to be late to things. It was all feeling in place though. He was off the pain killers for some days now and had even participated in a football match. Ryuusei Igarashi, member of not only the Martial Arts but also the Sports Club. Also Class Vice-President. Neither the boy believed it himself. How did he keep on getting in such situations? Nevermind that, he just had to get to school. Later that day he was to show the school around to some foreign students and had arranged to meet with the Principal in the morning to receive some files with basic information regarding said students. With his favorite left-hand, Ryuusei pulled out his cellphone mid-running. His face went a little blanck. Shit, I really need to hurry.Already 10 minutes late. Better run faster. ~~ LATER ~~ He was told that he was late. That he should have his School Uniform dressed on.
Saying that it was unconfortable to wear probably wasn't the best choice of words... Ryuusei remembered, scratching the back of his head while drinking some chocolate milk before throwing the package out.
At least the Principal didn't give him any punishment. Probably too busy handling the logistics of the festival. And the papers were on Ryuu's bag now, so it was all good. Now it was just hanging around the main hall and finding something to do before heading to lunch and, after that, meeting the two british sutdents.
His golden eyes shined as he walked through the area, looking at each tent. The interest by him wasn't much, but if it was there might aswell give it a look. Adjusting his bandana, Ryuu's long-ish blonde dyed hair was middle parted, spiky at the ends and at the back, but it a way that didn't mess with his field of vision. He felt good, despite the long run from before. Not wearing the school uniform was a good decision. And, since every teacher was probably too busy, Ryuusei had his mind set on only putting it on minutes before his scheduled meeting with Gregory and Julia.
Ryuusei was about to head back to some secluded and secret corner of the school when he spotted her. In the distance, eating a waffle. That hair couldn't be mistaken by anyone else's.
Elise? Ryuusei asked himself.
Now that was a surprise. It felt like he hadn't seen or talked to her in ages. They had seen each other, obviously: club practice or even the recent football match. But they didn't really... talk. And Elise was bearable to talk too, at least. That was a good quality. She wasn't boring and Ryuusei felt confortable talking with her. A privilege that very few had. Should he call it that? Talking to him was probably a hard thing to do for others. Anyhow, he decided to walk up to her: she was a friend.
Are you really alone or did I turn Tetsuko invisible by accident? - Ryuusei decided to joke around a bit. It was particularly funny due to his natural tone of voice though. If one didn't know him good enough, it was easy to mistake his attitude by one of a total asshole.
Maybe she's hiding somewhere? - Ryuusei looked around as he continued to walk closer to the bench where Elise was sitting on - Well, I'll take my chances.
He sat down next to Elise von Eisenberg, who was holding a waffle in her hands.
Let's hope that she doesn't appear with a sword ready to cut me down - he smiled - The red thread of fate doesn't break and you two already found each other, no need for you two to be always stuck together like glue.
Ryuusei was being casual, but he knew that Elise would surely catch on to what he was really saying. Ryuusei's memory was strong and he was sure that, in their last serious conversation, he had walked away telling Elise to be careful about trusting others too much. Hopefully she was doing that in a safe manner.
He stretched and then yawned. While doing so he felt something on his abdomen... Some movements still gave him pain on that hedious scar. His right eye twitched a bit from that. He covered it by continuing to talk.
But anyways, Sports Festival, uh? Did you sign-up for it?
He never was one too talk with others and he hadn't had a one on one conversation with someone in a long time... That's how it's done though, right?

There was something about enjoying the simple things of life, like tasting a delicious waffle that felt refreshing for Elise. After the turmoil and eventful first year at U.A, the burgundy-haired lass started to notice that it was those simple things that often helped bring a smile to her lips. It wasn't just exclusive to Tetsuko either. Certainly, the iron-blooded girl her presence was an incredible influence upon the Germanic lass, but lately, Elise started to see that she also took joy in the simpler things. From learning a new shot during their football practice with Darren and the others to getting a good result on a test at school. Even drinking her favorite apple juice was often enough to bring a smile to her lips. Did that mean that she had become easier to please? Unlikely, if anything it was rather: the fact that after Kashima the changes to her life that were brought forth by the mutual devotion and effort from Tetsuko and herself that had led to this feeling of happiness. She felt alive, and more importantly, she felt well and truly loved in a way nobody else was by Tetsuko.
A sudden voice called out to her, the natural tone of the boy's voice often being enough to make people wonder if he was mocking them, but she knew better than that. In fact, the burgundy-haired girl merely smiled after she had finished chewing on the waffle and as her lips curved into a smirk answered him in a cheerful tone. "Perhaps you did~ Then again, my Tetsu radar would make sure I always find her~" a hearty chuckle escaped her lips as she took another bite from the waffle while watching the boy approach her.
Ryuusei Igarashi, he was a mysterious one to say the least. On the surface, he appeared friendly enough, although at the same time she was all too aware of the unusual presence the boy carried with him. Recalling their earlier conversation made it clear to her that Ryuusei was like her in a way. Elise was the type of girl who, when something truly important was at stake, had few limitations. Indeed, even if she tried to follow the path of a true hero, one inspired by the likes of her former homeroom teacher Hachi, Elise knew it would be a lie to say if she wasn't someone who would be willing to go any length to protect her beloved ones. Indeed, she would even be willing to kill if it meant saving Tetsuko.
In a way Ryuusei was similar, and yet the monster he carried within him was different. The demon slumbering within her was one created from emotions, if anything Elise cared too much, loved too much and that led to the birth of that monster that slept within her. In a way it showed even in her everyday interactions, her borderline obsession with her iron-blooded knight. It was rather fortunate for everyone that Tetsuko was so loyal and devoted...
"Yup, she's hiding right here~" Elise chimed in amusement, using her free hand to tap her chest lightly, in particular the area her heart was situated at. Indeed, even if they were currently apart for a bit, every moment that was spend still had Tetsuko's presence linger in her heart, in her thoughts and feelings. Love was such a mysterious something at times.
Taking another bite from the waffle Elise's smile glowed again with childish bliss as she listened to Ryuusei, a soft chuckle following as she finished swallowing the bits of her snack and answered him in that soft yet playful tone of hers. "Knowing Tetsu she would be more likely to demand a duel to claim your spot on the bench rather than strike you down without any warning. She's quite a honorable girl, ya know?" Honor was truly something important to Tetsuko, not just to the iron-blooded girl herself, but also her family.
Leaning back a little Elise nodded her head lightly in response to Ryuusei's words. "Hehe~ It's not that we 'need' to, it's because we have the most fun at each other's side that we 'chose' to. Although, you could say that is something I only discovered recently. The importance between understanding the difference between a 'Need' and a 'Want'" Indeed, it had taken that simple, yet so complicated thing for her to find a way to reach her beloved Tetsuko during their time in Kashima.
A momentary pause lingered in the air as she watched Ryuusei stretch and yawn for a moment, a smile lingering on her lips when Ryuusei suddenly asked her a most peculiar question: Her participation in the Sports Festival. "Scouting the competition hmm?" Elise teasingly remarked as she snickered softly and finally gave him an answer. "I did~ I signed up for the Obstacle Course. Since Tetsu is joining the team-based competition against the other schools I thought it would be appropriate for me to pick something else, this way I can cheer her on with all my might~ And we need to prove that we can be just as strong apart as we are when we are together~"
Yet there was another event she was going to participate in, wasn't she? Finishing the last pieces of her waffle the girl used the clean tissues she had brought along to wipe her cheeks and mouth from the powdered sugar and whipped cream and continued to speak. "Although, I likely be participating in the tournament~ After that Capture the Flag exercise..."
She still felt a pang of annoyance in her heart, but she wasn't entirely certain whether it was because she had lost the duel, or because her girlfriend got kissed by someone else... Likely the latter. "Besides it would be a bittersweet idea if I get to face Tetsu in the finals~" A soft snicker escaped Elise's lips as she stretched her arms lightly forward. "That and I got to show Touma--- I mean Kobayashi-sensei just how much I improved~ How about you Ryuu-kun?"

Dreams breathe life into men. The stars... I'll reach them.
Elise was on board with Ryuusei's shot at trying to establish a more light mood for their conversation. Of coure she was, Ryuusei didn't expect anything less from the girl. She kept on joking back to Ryuu's affirmations about Tetsuko, even making a super cheesy reference by pointing to her own heart while saying that it was there that her lover was hiding. Or maybe it was just romantic. Ryuusei wouldn't really know - afterall, he had never been in a relationship or even something close to it. However, it was during the latter part of back-and-forth about this subject matter that Ryuusei felt more at ease. Elise appeared to have understood thae enourmous diffeence between needing something or someone and wanting it. It made Ryuusei happy to see that Elise was following the good path - maybe it meant that Ryuusei could do the same himself. He then asked about the Sports Festival and Elise made sure to maintain the mood from before. No, I don't even consider you to be competition, Ryuusei was quick to reply in the same tone as before, making sure to leave the sentence open enough for Elise to interpret in the way that she wanted to. By her words, Elise was going to partake in the Obstacle Course Event. It made sense. Ryuusei already had the chance to see her speed in action and, if he was not mistaken, her Quirk could also be very handy in terms of movement, so this was the obvious choice for her. However, it did surprise Ryuu that Elise had also chosen to participate in the optional battle tournament. After her encounter with Nick, it would be easy to think that the former support studies students would avoid such situations for awhile, but she seemed eager to prove herself to the world. Ryuusei respected that. I'm only doing the Rescue Event, all the other one's seemed like too much effort for me - he said in a completly honest way - But I'll try to be at the stands watching you during the tournament. He made a slight pause, looking at the sky. It was a calm moment, almost like a serious question was about to come up. Then, Ryuusei spoke. Can I eat a little bit of that waffle?Notes: He just really likes to be lazy!Words: 383.Tags: Elise Von Eisenberg

There was something about Ryuusei that fascinated Elise. Perhaps it was because of his mannerisms or tone, he really seemed quite blunt in a way, the tone he spoke with easily being a source of agitation for others. At least she wouldn't be surprised if other students thought that Ryuusei might had been a smug and overconfident jerk, but from her interactions with him so far Elise felt that was a wrong assumption to make. If anything, to her Ryuusei might had felt like an incredibly honest person. Someone who didn't spend time sugarcoating words or acting in a certain way to ensure he wouldn't offend someone. He was honest and straight-forward to a fault, and Elise had to admit she liked that. Even when he replied in that same tone from before, the words more than plenty to make most people glare at the teenager, Elise instead snickered in amusement. "Oh~ Not even considering me a challenge hmm? Aren't you awfully confident~ Forgot that I'm your senpai when it comes to training under our Principal?" Elise answered him with a playful light prod of her elbow against his side before she continued speaking.
"Then again~ The Dragon is usually the final boss in a video game, compared to the slime that usually shows up at the very beginning. Then again~ I'm no ordinary slime~ I'm a slime girl!" Elise exclaimed with a mischievous snicker as she listened to Ryuusei's response to her inquiry. "The Rescue Event? I guess that one is pretty suited for you and your quirk~ A bit of clever thinking can likely get you far in that type of event~"
The burgundy-haired lass answered with a slight nod of her head while she listened to how Ryuusei added how the other events seemed like too much effort for him. Now she thought about it, Ryuusei did seem like someone who usually liked to take things easy. She felt that the times she saw him train with the sports club, that the teenager didn't pull out his full effort, but at the same time during the times it did matter, Ryuusei clearly could put in the motivation and persistence to last. She liked that part of him, in the end being able to do what had to be done when it truly mattered was quite important in her opinion.
When Ryuusei suddenly asked if he could eat a bit of the waffle Elise couldn't help but smile weakly, revealing the empty napkin that had once contained the waffle. "hehe too late~ It already turned invisible." A little snicker followed from the Germanic lass as she hopped back onto her feet, a hand extended toward Ryuusei. "But there is a simple solution for that~ Get more waffles! Come on Ryuu-kun~ It's my treat~" And whether he wanted it or not, Elise would soon have tried to take him to the nearby vendor stand that was still busy peddling their wares to the visitors. The one responsible for the stall, a middle-aged man spotted the duo and grinned at Elise. "Oho~ Already back for more? And I see you have brought a friend with you~"
Elise nodded her head with a sheepish grin while she raised two fingers into the air, answering the man in her usual cheerful tone. "Two Brussels Waffles please~ Whipped Cream and Powdered Sugar as usual."
The man laughed heartily at her as he started to prepare the waffles. Meanwhile Elise turned back to Ryuusei and hummed in a clear display of childish excitement. "The waffles they make here are really great~ I think even Haru- I mean Haruto-kun from the Cooking Club would face a fair challenge if he had to make a dessert just as delicious~"
"Guten Appetit" The man declared with a grin, the German phrase making Elise turn back to him and reply with an energetic "Danke!" and with two waffles in hand she guided Ryuusei back to their earlier spot, handing one of them back to him while she hummed happily. "Brussels Waffles actually come from Belgium if I recall right~ Their capital is called Brussel after all~" Yet clearly looking forward to enjoying another waffle Elise took another bite from it and her smile brightened instantously. "They really are yummy!" Yep, it was clear as day that Elise was fond of waffles. Meanwhile as she took another bite from it and chewed on it, she waited till she could swallow it before turning to Ryuusei and inquiring with a smile. "How about it Ryuu-kun? Do you like the waffle?" She hoped he did, then again a snack as delicious as this certainly would be liked by Ryuusei also, right?
Still, after they had finished chewing for a bit Elise lowered her waffle for a moment, her smile growing a bit dimmer. "Times like this almost make you forgot what awaits us outside those walls." A gentle sigh escaped her lips as she took another bite from the waffle, chewing and swallowing the bits before she continued. "And it grows more darker and corrupt by the moment Ryuu-kun. It's not just Thunder Shock either. We have guys like that Bucket kidnapping an U.A student, and even bastards like that Nick Cross trying to kidnap Rin-chan in the middle of a festival."
She shook her head gently as if trying to clear her thoughts. "But people like us can't forget it, can we? I... heard about your confrontation with him, so surely you understand it also? In a way I still regret that I couldn't stop him. I fought with all my might, tried my hardest and while he couldn't reach Rin, he still ended up escaping. Next time we'll face him, he won't get away..."
A soft sigh escaped her lips as she took another bite from her waffle and turned her gaze sideways at Ryuusei. "But back onto more pleasant topics: I'll be sure to cheer for you once the Rescue Event begins~ Not that I'll likely see you, you're quite a sly boy in avoiding the spotlight~" Elise chimed in a teasing tone.

Dreams breathe life into men. The stars... I'll reach them.
Elise Von Eisenberg was a funny girl and her responses - and way she delivered them - were an ideal representation of that personality trait of hers. Even Ryuusei would let out a slight smile with the corner of his lips unintentionally while hearing the girl's fast, ready to go replies. It wasn't, however, simple humour that the burgandy haired female offered: there was an undertone that Ryuusei found dark, the same teasing as of the spider that invites their unsuspecting prey into their web. Put simply, Ryuusei saw in Elise something dangerous, something that would always leave him on a slight edge... That or the boy could be completely wrong and Elise wouldn't even hurt a fly. Ryuusei doubted that - and was one hundred percent fine with it. Oh, he simply let out when he saw that Eli had already finished her waffle. And then, like it was the most natural thing in the world, the also Yuuei student stood up, grabbed Ryuusei right hand and start pushing and puliing him out of the bench, almost dragging him in the direction of the food tent. Has their hands touched during the short walk, Ryuusei allowed himself to be led while letting out a reference to their initial conversation opener, Great, now I'll really have to worry about dueling your girlfriend. The man - which appeared to be around the age of Ryuu's parents - was nice, greeting them warmly and taking little to no time handing them the freshly made waffles. Before the delicious food arrived at his hands, Ryuusei replied to Elise's praises of the belgium sweet. Well, I don't know Haruto, but I'll take your word for it, he said. Elise paid for the meal and Ryuusei didn't contest. He wasn't about to start a whole argument that would probably go something like "I'll pay" "No, I'll pay" "No no, I told yoy: I'll pay". Instead he just went with Elise to the bench they were previously in, continuing the dialogue on their way there. Waffles actually have a pretty long history - he said about the food they were about to eat - Their arcaic form can be traced back to Ancient Greece, that named it "Obelios". The term originated the word "Oblies" in Medieval Europe and that led to the now used "Wafer" or "Waffle". Belgium popularized them, but the first known recipe actually came from France during the last decade of the 14th century.Even if he didn't properly showed it off or talked about, Ryuusei was smart and read... he read a lot. Much more than what was healthy, in fact. He read about the most varied subjects, aiming to obtain the most vast knowledge that he could. Sometimes, like today, it proved useful: afterall, reading that food book about the history of pastery wasn't a waste of time. They sat down and began chewing. They were hot, sweet and full of calories - the perfect blend. Yeah, it's pretty good, he said with his mouth full of food, not really caring about since his eyes were locked on his own waffle. He listened to Elise as he kept eating. She was right. It was hard to think that in little more than two years they would probably be out there, trying their best to act as "Heroes", the new rulers of this Quirk-based society. However, after Semper Fi, after Nick... Ryuu learned to step back for a bit. To enjoy this tiny moments where they were allowed to be regular teenagers - the moments that they would never get back. This was his mentality, at least for now: his mind needed it, but his body begged for it. We can't forget - he first said in reply to Elise's whole "confession", taking then time to take one more bite of his waffle before resting his back against the bench, stretching and supporting his arms in it and turning his head towards the clouds, those unreachable things he kept on wanting to reach - But we also can't drown ourselves. He paused once again, shorter this time. He took a breath and turned his head to the friend next to him. When you're in quicksand escaping isn't about how fast you move, it is about knowing when and how to do it - he put the last bit of what was left of his waffle in the direction of Elise's eyes - And right now I just want to enjoy this sweet little thing that you bought me, he finished, putting the piece of waffle in his mouth. Maybe it was a way of dealing with the state of his body or with the things he had already done at such a young age, but that really was how Ryuusei felt at that moment. He was idealistic, conflicted, sometimes even contraditory, but he just wanted to try to be a normal sixteen year old for the time being - even if it was just pretend, since he knew that he did not deserve such thing. Perhaps the time for him to repay his sins would come later in his life. No, not "perhaps". Surely. Ryuusei was only waiting for it. When the conversation went back to the Sports Festival, Elise mentioned that she would be rooting for Ryuusei despite probably not being able to see him. Ryuusei was quick to reply. I really hope that no one sees me, actually. Just thinking it will all be televised and in a packed arena makes me sick... I'll probably be the only one there worried about remaining anonymous rather than becoming known, he sighed. The sun shined and the clouds passed by. It was a normal day. And what a beautiful day it was. Notes: A good conversation while eating!Words: 960.Tags: Elise Von Eisenberg

There was something about talking to Ryuusei that Elise found incredibly entertaining. Perhaps it was because he was the type of person who she could understand, or maybe because she could show a side of her that only a few had the priveledge of seeing, it made the Germanic lass feel oddly at ease around him. In the end despite her cheer and playfulness, Elise was a conflicted person, a girl who carried her own secrets, secrets only few knew. But for now those secrets were pulled onto the backseat as Elise had guided Ryuusei by the hand toward the nearby vendor stall. "Hehe~ I have to get the popcorn ready then." Elise chimed in a teasing remark. She actually was genuinely curious about the idea: How in the world would her girlfriend deal with an invisible foe. There was something about fighting an invisible blade that made it sound so dangerous, and yet knowing Tetsuko, there was no doubt the iron-blooded girl would love to take on such a challenge someday. Fighting an invisible swordsman, having to predict and guess where each strike could come from, one wrong move being made so much easier, that one move that could become oh so decisive.
But it was not an idea she would voice, at the very least not right now. Tetsuko had her own things to worry about, and Elise didn't want to give her more stress by having to imagine how to face an opponent like that. However, when Ryuusei commented about not knowing Haruto, the burgundy-haired lass chimed in response. "He is the Cooking Emperor of U.A according to the students~" A hearty chuckle escaped her lips as she continued. "Shimizu Haruto, vice-president of Support Studies and the leader of the Cooking Club. The rumors go that his dishes are so delicious they are on par with professional chefs that work at fancy restaurants."
However, to her surprise, Ryuusei decided to explain a little bit about the origins of Waffles, and soon Elise could be seen paying a lot of attention to every word the teenager spoke. "Obelios... Interesting~ I didn't even know they already had invented a form of Waffles in Ancient Greece~ No Wonders the Persians tried to invade them." Elise answered him with a little jest before listening further. "So in Medieval Europe it became known as Oblies, and then became the famous Wafer or Waffle we all know and adore hmm?" Elise paused for a moment, as she took a bite from her waffle and smirked at him after finishing chewing on the bits of the snack she had bit off. "I didn't think you'd know so much about history~ It's a pleasant surprise, I'm quite fond of reading myself, even if most wouldn't expect me to put my nose into anything else than medical books, yuri manga and magazines about guns~" A soft snicker followed at the little joke while she nodded her head in agreement to Ryuusei's acknowledgment of the flavor of the waffles.
Taking another bite from it Elise nodded her head in agreement to his words. "Indeed, it is important for us to balance the existence of the person we are, and the hero we want to become."
Elise took another bite from her waffles and as she chewed on it pondered for a bit. "If I'm entirely honest, I don't think it's possible for one to be a 'true' hero. I thought about it for a long time, but a true hero is a symbol of virtues, that in my opinion likely are too much for a human to bear. Don't get me wrong, we likely possess traits that contribute to true heroism, some of us might want to save people, or help them without expecting anything in return. The desire to help without thinking about the rewards, rather acting because your body moved before your mind made a decision. However, a true hero would never act out of anger or hatred and us humans? We are far from perfect like that."
She paused for a moment, her gaze turned toward Ryuusei as she continued. "Even if we desire to do something, there are too many things that can affect us. Basically, as long as we have emotions, we are at risk of succumbing to them. Would I face Thunder Shock again in the future? I would likely have to hold back my urge to kill him with all my might. However, I know for example that if someone was to endanger Tetsu, I would without a moment of hesitation strike them down, not caring if it would kill them or not."
Her lips curved up slightly as she explained a bit further. "That is why I believe that true heroes don't exist, in the traditional sense. In the end, a human that feels no emotions, doesn't feel sympathy or mercy either, and a merciless hero sounds a bit odd, right?" She turned her gaze back toward the waffle and mused softly. "But perhaps that's fine... Maybe we can still help society as 'heroes' someday. But for me to become a hero someday, I can't sacrifice the ordinary me either. Times like this, where I can enjoy dates with Tetsuko or enjoy an interesting conversation with a friend like you... I think they are the type of things that allow us to gain a certain something, a certain sense of resolve perhaps to be as close to a true hero as possible."
"Or maybe I'm just musing thoughts and am entirely wrong again, it wouldn't be the first time."
She chuckled softly as she leaned back against the bench. "But from my time here so far, there are no true heroes at U.A, we're all imperfect in our own way, all flawed, and yet as odd as people might find it: I find beauty in that flawed nature."
An odd thing to say for sure, but she continued to explain with a smile. "Everyone has their own little things, and more often that not I find it fascinating, the way we are all so different, but in a way working toward the same thing. It's kind of the same for me and Tetsu: The reason our relationship is so special is not because of how similar we are, but of how different we are. Flawed in our own ways, but when we work together it becomes something beautiful."
She took another bite when she heard his words, making her laugh weakly in response. "Heh, reminds me of a certain camera-wielding pinkette who is a bit too fond of fame for my liking." She shook her head lightly and turned back toward Ryuusei. "Rather than becoming famous, I think this event is an opportunity for everyone to show what type of person they are, what type of hero they want to become. But then again, I'm sure you already seen that people want to become heroes for their own reasons, some more selfish than others."

Dreams breathe life into men. The stars... I'll reach them.
Looking ahead at the seemingly distant - yet so close - movement of people walking around the Sports Festival main alley, Ryuusei Igarashi was still listening with attention at Elise's reply to his words. Ahead of the two teenagers, other students interacted with one another, went up to the various food tents, showed interest in the space set-up by the various school clubs: dreams, hopes, promises of great futures that walked that street just like they were dangling on the line of fate, a dark abyss waiting them below in the case that they tripped. Some were able to walk this line like experts, their goal being destined to come true - people like Sean Mizushima and Rinkusu Kurama; others had already fell to the unknown, straying from a path of potential glory to one of shadows and alleyways - one could think of former students like Nick Cross and Maximilian Kane. And then there were the ones like Ryuusei Igarashi and Elise von Eisenberg: following the tiny line in the best way they could, their hearts set on reaching the end of it while their brains kept on being tempted to jump down to that alluring pit of nothing but black. She talked about 'True Heroes', how it was impossible for such a paragon of justice and goodness to exist; for someone able to repress their anger and hatred when absolutely needed to be real. She talked about she couldn't fit that idealized description, but still hoped to become something close to it one day - but, of course, without sacrificing the part of herself that actually made her human. Ryuusei disagreed with such statement that true Heroes didn't exist. Before Quriks existed there was recorded evidence of human beings possessing such traits, with a look at history books being enough to understand this: the normal folk that risked everything by hiding jewish people during the Second World War, the people that dropped their former lives in order to help refugees or going to offer help in under-developed regions, activists that fought for laws in favour of marginalized groups and to combat climate change. Even in this new age there were already few Heroes or citizens that possessed that same heart and spirit: Ryuusei couldn't help but to think of his sister and parents. Perhaps it was just that both Ryuu and Elise could never hope to achieve such state of pure intent: maybe it just wasn't in their nature. It was this exact same thought that Ryuusei voice in reply to his friend, even if not in the same complex and extent way that he structured in his mind - afterall, that wasn't really Ryuu's style. True Heroes do exist, it's just that people like you and me should never pretend to be such thing - he said in his usual tone - You're right in saying that we are all flawed. Some - the genuine Heroes who really just care about helping others - can control those flaws, thankfully, but others - us - are simply not able to do that. But I think that's okay. Like you said: at the end of the day we are all working towards the same thing.Ryuusei's eyes went down, the same direction to which he tilted his head a bit. He was looking at the palms of his hands. I wonder if I deserve to keep working towards it though - his eyes and voice showed a deep sadness, even if beneath a blank expression - I often feel like I'm burning. The things that these hands have already done... They should not be helping anyone.
Shit. He talked too much, didn't he? No one knew about it, so maybe Elise would just found Ryuusei's words vague. Afterall, the Semper Fi article didn't exactly mention that Ryuu had killed three soldiers, two of them in cold blood. Nor did anyone knew the three prisoners he executed in front of Tanaka. Nor was it known that he killed that thug in Kabukicho. But yes... Those hands were covered in blood and Ryuusei couldn't wash them off. When the conversation changed to the topic of the Sports Festival - away of the darker tone of the previous dialogue - Ryuu was quick to reply to Elise. Ahhh, that's too much work though - Ryuusei let out with a sigh as his body was comically sliding down the bench - I don't want to show what type of person or hero I am, that 's too much not needed attention. I just want to be done with it and go home.Of course that it wasn't never that easy. Notes: ---Words: 777.Tags: Elise Von Eisenberg
