Dreams breathe life into men. The stars... I'll reach them.
The festival had started at the beginning of the day. At this point of the day, Ryuusei Igarashi was walking around by himself. He had taken out his school uniform and changed into his regular clothing one or two hours ago, for the sake of feeling more confortable. Maybe that was the reason for him to still be at the school grounds – if he hadn’t brought a change of clothes, the teenager would surely have been home by now. However, there he was. He carried a black backpack on his back, inside which were his uniform and some schoolbooks and notepads. As for clothing, he had an oversized black hoodie on thaat was partly hidden by the army green bomber jacket that he was also wearing. His pants were regular denim jeans and, for shoes, he had black boots on his feet. In terms of accessories, Ryuusei wore the usual stuff: an earring on his left earlobe and a necklace that was concealed under his clothing. Being the first day, the venue was obviously full of people. But it looked like the Yuuei staff had done a good job about organizing things: there was space for everyone to freely, each tent had a secure distance between each other and there didn’t appear to be a single problema regarding the foreign students present at the school grounds. If heavens allowed it, this peace would be presente throughout the entire duration of the festival. One could only hope. Ryuusei himself had little to no interest on the tents, at least for the time being. He was just walking around, head down looking at his phone while listening to music through his earphones. Due to a little black bandana that he was also wearing on his forehead, his long-ish hair didn’t get in the way of his almost golden eyes. It was perhaps this distraction that would set off the event that would change the entire course of his day. Or perhaps it was the sense of confidence gained by seeing that one could freely walk in the area. Whther the case, it didn’t really matter that much. For the time being, Ryuusei Igarashi just kept on aimlessly walking: his phone on his left hand, a water bottle on his right one. Notes: Walking alone... STORYTELLER With the festival in full swing and filled with motivated students and people alike it was bound for something to happen. A girl, seemingly just standing still in the middle of the busy crowd inbetween the lines of tents. She was hugging herself and wore a long blue scarf with golden pattern. Her white jacket was slim and had a foreign design to it. To top it all her long skirt was clearly a skirt from a formal school. It wasn't the typical pretty skirt that most japanese schoolgirls wore, it was a floppy navy blue with frills at the bottom. It reached to her knees and made her look like a rather decent girl. Nothing about her spoke rebellious nor unsightly, however, her hair wass a bit rough, short and pale pink. Her expression had a gloomy tone with her eyes down to the ground. In her self-hug she held a should backpack, clinging to it as if she was protecting it from hidden dangers. Her presence alone was a bother to those who tried to walk past, she was just standing still, giving off a look of uncertainty to her surrdoungins.
''Uuuuumngh... w-where did the rest go?''
She asked herself in hopes to somehow see them among the large crowd, but alas it was hopeless for someone like her. She wasn't that capable to even look into the eyes of others. She fidgeted alot, the more she tried to look up at the others made her drastically more nervous. She wasn't very tall and certainly did not stand out. With those elements combined it was a matter of time before someone would stumble against her low presence. ''W-why did I end up here- uuwaAAH!'' She promptly said, getting crashed at by a blonde boy that easily made her to fall down. She spoke out a few foreign words, if the boy knew his french he'd know she cursed at herself. ''S-s-sorry uuuuh! Uhm, I don't know what to say-!'' Interrupting herself she stood up and was shaking violently in distress, almost as if she was facing a vile beast, you could say she was one to overdramatize social encounters.
''Je suis sincèrement désolé!'' Bowing quickly to show her eagerness to tell him what a clumsy girl she was, her heartbeat was going crazy, easily beating 300 times per minute, while she looked extremely soft and timid on the outside she was a rolling monstertruck inside of her body and mind, each beat sounding like a thunderous drum in her head.

Dreams breathe life into men. The stars... I'll reach them.
His phone started to vibrate on his hand. It was a text message, from Yoruhi. It appeared that a student named Emi was trying to gather up everyone that had applied to the Rescue Event of the Sports Festival in order for everyone to get to know each other personally and also get acquainted to the Quirks that everyone else had. There were sevveral things that Ryuusei didn't like about such plan, but he could tell that to his best friend personally. For now, a simple text message would solve the problem. And so, while continuing to walk, he started to write. At the same time, with his other hand, he was prepared to drink from his now opened bottle of water. As he was lifting the object closer to his mouth, That was when he felt something. It was around his chest area, maybe even a little lower. It wasn't painful either, just... unexpected? Enough to have Ryuusei stop his feet and taking his eyes away from the cellphone. He heard something. A little loud, but he couldn't make sense of it. What had happened? Looking down, a girl was on the ground. Oh-Oh... Oh no, I'm so sorry!, he instictively said in his mother tongue, He took a quick look at the water bottle. It looked a little emptier. He looked at the girl once again. Don't tell me that... he thought, seeing that some of the water had fallen on her. Let me help you up, he said, beginning to crouching down in order to do what he said. However, as Ryuusei began going down, the girl shot herself up as she apologized like she didn't really know what else say. It was during this apology that Ryuusei noticed an accent on her, something confirmed by her next words which were spoken in french... At least Ryuusei thought that it was french. The teenager was fluent in Japanese, English and Korean, but any other language was pretty much off the table. She was bowing, so Ryuusei just assumed that she was apologizing again. Getting himself straight, he replied to the girl while taking his backpack off his back and putting his cellphone and water bottle inside of it. Ryuusei spoke in japanese, since it seemed that the purple haired little girl could understand the language. Please, don't apologize, I'm the one that must say sorry, I should've been watching where I'm going, so... Sorry! he finished, bowing at the end. As he finished the bow, he put the backpack on the ground. Then, standing straight, he took out his jacket. Here, I think some of the water fell on you... Again, I'm sorry. Without even thinking, he tried to put his jacket around the girl almost as if he was giving her a superhero cape, with the piece of to-large-for-her clothing supposed to be hanging on the girls shoulders. Only then would the boy introduce himself. My name is Ryuusei Igarashi. Can you tell me yours?Ryuusei didn't even notice how tense and timid the girl was acting. Afterall, Ryuu himself wasn't the most particularly social person in the world... especially when he was feeling so bad for something that he could only think how to make things better. Hopefully she wouldn't find him weird... or intimidating... or worse. Notes: Two awkwards meet!Words: 552.Tags: Risaka Reinacht

STORYTELLER Oh god the terror she was giving herself when getting exposed like that, she didn't mean to get all worked up from a minor accident, but inside of her head she mentally beated herself until she was just a squirmy mess that shivered. She tried to speak out but only managed to mumble or repeat nonsensical words. She however manged to pull out one solid sentence through trial and error. ''Mon nom est Amanda....'' But she quickly noticed herself speaking in french rather than Japanese. She screamed in awkwardness in her head, how could she be so stupid to respond in another language to the likewise awkward blonde? She gave herself a minor slap, but a solid one to get her senses back on track, because right now her heartbeat was easily up to 400 beats per minute. For a normal human that's destroy the heart, but her heart was durable, but it was painfull nontheless.
''M-mmmmnh! S-sorry I meant to s-s-say- MY NAME IS AMANDA!'' She suddenly blurted at the end, how much further could she mess up with this, people around even gave a few odd eyes at her. She felt so bad, acting this rude to the blonde boy. She had to quickly fix this. With the new jacket on and a drenched upperbody she rubbed her hands together tight, and slams them both against her upperchest as if they were a couple of defibrillator. The impact sent a shock through her entire body and halted her movements completely. Her bodyheat escaped her body in which dehydrated the water that was spilled on her, steam reeking off from her head and shoulders. Her heart rate dropped down in an instant, it was around at 30 beats per second, and she was finally relaxed. Sighing out slowly she straightened her back to give Ryuusei a not-so-awkward stare for once. ''M-my apologies mister, my heart easily goes berserk when something sudden happens, uhm... t-thank you for the assistance, the water was cold.... Uhm, to make up for my two previous failed greetings, let me introduce myself properly...'' Taking in a deep breath, a small one due to her size, she bowed down with her hands together on her thighs. ''My name is Amanda Chevrolet, I'm visisting Japan as a representative of Alder Academy and a top student from France, a pleasure meeting you.'' When collected she finally got to show her more polite side, she clearly had a childhood all about being like a lady.

Dreams breathe life into men. The stars... I'll reach them.
Was that french again? Yeah, most likely, definetely not any language that he knew. It was a simpler phrase than before so Ryuusei was able to recognize the latin origins of the language and, by consequence, the similarity with English. Mon nom est... - he repeated in his brain - ... "My name is", maybe? It sounded like that. It seemed plausible, especially since Ryuusei had just asked for her name. So, her name was Amanda. Okay, that was a good start. At least now Ryuusei could properly apologize by knowing her name... But before he could she slapped herself in front of him and proceeded to speak in japanese in a very stuttery, quick manner. She should be fluent enough - if she wasn't it would be impossible for Ryuusei to have understood what she was trying to say due to how nervous her voice sounded. Ryuusei opened the palms of his hands - a body expression of "it's okay" - while replying, trying to calm the girl down. He had only now realized how out of the normal she was acting. I-I was able to undestrand it, don't... don't worry, really!More strangeness was about to happen. Rubbing her hands together and pressing them against her own chest it was like the girl had just sent electric shocks throughout her entire body, shocks big enough to vaporize the water on her coompletly. It also helped Amanda's state, being that, after that, she was way more confortable in both her physical posture and communication ability. It's a pleasure to meet you, Amanda - he replied to her more formal presentation, adding whilhe sccratchign his hair - And really, don't apologize, it was my fault.A small slightly pale girl, short and with light-purple hair, french but from the Germany school that was participanting in the Sports Festival and with what appeared to be some kind of shock-based Quirk. It was a rather unique person, at least if one was to go by these small bits of information. Let me buy you something to eat, it's the least I can do, Ryuusei proposed to her. If she agreed, Ryuusei would start walking towards on the food tents scattered around the Main Alley, looking for some type of sweet food for both of them to eat. During this search, he would try and make a little conversation going on - a way of trying to show the girl that she could be at ease. So, I suppose that you are going to be participating in one of the events, right?Notes: ---Words: 429.Tags: Risaka Reinacht

STORYTELLER Such a polite young man, she blinked when trying to process the fact he wasn't angry or mad at all, not a single trace of negativity. It made her fluster and looked to the side, trying to come up with a suitable answer, now that she was fully calm. She nodded to him, she wanted to be humble to this likewise humble blonde japanese. She formed a smile to show appreciation to his rational personality, she was very difficult to act straight from the start, of course not every conversation has to start with a gentle crash and water spilled all over.
''T-thank you, that is very kind of you, and please excuse my level of skill on the japanese language, I'm still new to it.'' She fidgeted her thumbs together, looking a bit shy when talking about herself, not that she could blame herself, the expectation of her was rather high, top student of an entire country and all. She did another formal bow, but this time holding her semi long schoolskirt fo the sides, a sign of showing respect to a fellow student in the heroic studies. ''A dish between two honourable students, t-that pleases me, I'd like to very much! I do have a curious appetite for foreign dishes.'' With her small stomach giving a very slight rumble she could tell she was in need for something that filled her up.
With that in mind it didn't take long until she got her eyes on something very intriguing. Dumplings! She always wanted a taste of the famous common dish in Japan, she never truly had a chance on trying some so she had made herself a big promise long before she arrived to Japan. ''Mmh, t-they look way more yummy up front rather on a television screen... huh?'' Only then did she notice the blonde boy had given her a question. In a moment of boiling embarrasment she squirmed and got a high beat rate. ''O-o-o-oh yes! T-the events! Ummmmmm.... I-... I don't know if I should go at them... I know I got many expecting alot, but I don't like to fight, only help... B-but the rescue event does seem like something I have to do!'' Gathering the small courage of hers she clenched her fists together and looked somehwat determined. ''W-what about you Ryuusei? Are you joining any?''

Dreams breathe life into men. The stars... I'll reach them.
Your japanese is very good, don't worry, he replied to her comment about still being a starter when it came to speaking the language of the rising sun. He was also being sincere. Despite carrying an accent and the chosen words and phrasing being textbook--like, it was still impressive - afterall, japanese was an extremely hard language for non-natives to learn. Having spent time having to speak english with the british student, it was nice to see that there were also students who could actually speak the same language as Ryuusei. Out of respec for Amanda hardwork, Ryuu would make sure do adequate his japanese to her level during the rest of the conversation. This way no word would be lost. WIth Amanda being more calm now, she was quick to accept Ryuu's invitation to eat. She even didn't notice Ryuusei's question for awhile, her being entraced with the look and smeel of the 'gyoza' - the japanese word for dumpligs. Taking notice of that, Ryuusei made a hand gesture of "two" to the dumpling vendor whie he heard Amanda's now high-paced reply. I'm also joining the Rescue Event. It seems like this won't be our last time meeting each other, he spoke, trying to make his natural cold and mature voice sound a little bit friendlier. It was then that the vendor handed him two plate, each with five small dumplings. Ryuusei gave him the money to complete the transaction and, then, gave one of the plastic plates and a pair of chopsticks to Amanda. While waiting for her to grab the dish from his left hand, Ryuusei posed another question, one related to what the french student had said. Why don't you like to fight? he simply asked. It was a sentiment that Ryuusei himself shared, but he wanted to know Amanda's reasons. Before she could reply, the boy would make a follow up question And why did you talk about the Event has something that you "have" to do and not as something that you "want" to do? he finished. It was also something that resonated with RYuusei, but just like the first quesion: he wanted to know why the girl felt that way. While he waited for the female from Adler's Academy to answer, Ryuusei would begin to eat. Notes: Time to start eating!Words: 384.Tags: storytellerrisa

STORYTELLER She squirmed a bit, she wasn't used to be in covnersations, especially those that lasted longer than five seconds. Amanda could only stay silent for a bit until she was served a fresh steam reeking dumpling. Amanda's eyes widened a tiny bit, mesmerizing the sight of them before blinking uncertain at those chopsticks. ''Y-you eat with sticks? I know you do it with sushi and various ramen dishes, but these dumplings looks too perfect to risk breaking it's shape!'' Truly deep in Amanda's heart and soul she was a caretaker, she even saw the dumplings as something precious and thus proceeded to pick one up slowly and gently in her left palm, letting the warmth of it pulsate through her hand, the soothing heat calming her ever so stressing heart. ''It... it feels nice!'' For a moment there she almost forgot the real purpose of those dumblings. She snapped out of the foodtrans and opened her mouth lightly, taking a bite of the oval shaped delicacy with her eyes closed.
''Mm.... It's so good.. w-wow!''
She found herself amazed, almost too amazed. She was so used to the cultural food she had back at Europe, but never has she had something as foreign like dumplings. She took the opportunity to bite a few more times until the blonde lad responded to her previous statement of being in the events. ''H-huh? You are joining rescue? That's really nice... you do seem like the kind of guy that prefers helping than fighting.... UHM; I-I-I didn't mean it in a harmful way! Y-you just seem to have a gentle soul! But... for me, fighting is scary, not because I can get hurt, I can handle pain, but I can't handle being the one in fault of someone's loss of life... m-my quirk is not really helpful in the hands of me who's always nervous..''
She bit down into the dumpling once more to calm her thoughts, she wasn't her to rant her own life struggles, she was here to learn and become a better person! ''B-but that's right! I-I do these events to not just fulfill my own satisfaction but to make myself stronger! N-not because I don't particulary like to act heroic, but I know I need to be! Because in this world we need better people and I feel like I have to contribute!'' She puffed out, she felt a bit proud to have said so much without stuttering like a 90's radio.

You don't need a dream or even a tomorrow Just live
It's just a matter of getting used to it, Ryuusei replied, using the chopsticks to get one delicious dumpling onto his mouth while being able to keep the perfect shape of the typical food of his country. As she put the dumpling in her hands and felt their warmth so confortable that she had to express it through words, Ryuusei added: But that's also a good way to eat them.It was probably this that made Amanda aware of the time she was taking to actually eat the food on her hands, making her quickly get a taste of it. She seemed to like it a lot. And she was right: despite not expressing, those dumplings were really, really good. Perhaps Principal Touma invested the Yuuei money into bringing decent cooks to the Sports Festival. When the french girl replied to Ryuusei's questions, she couldn't avoid stuttering often. It did not seem something that came as consequence of her japanese ability, but more as of her social skills: if Ryuu didn't like to talk to others because he just did not like, Amanda probably was always just very nervous doing so. Ryuusei kept giving his full attention, trying to show the girl that it was okay to talk, that he wasn't there to judge her or making the interaction more difficult to her. It was odd to see someone telling him that he looked like someone who liked helping others - he more frequently heard otherwise, that his cold voice and expressions were the characteristics of someone who shouldn't be at U.A. Academy. He wonder what made Amanda think of him that way. He heard everything before speaking himself. Amanda's words carried a pure genuinity and innocence, something that Ryuusei was sure would make Amanda become an actual true Hero. The girl would surely fit in the category of the people that the world needed, like she said. However, it felt that she somewhat doubted her own capabilities, thinking that her nervousness would be in the away of achieving her goal. She was something that Ryuusei would never be able to be, so seeing her doubting that, risking not reaching her destiny because of that made Ryuusei share something personal. My older sister was Quirkless, but she dreamt of helping others - Ryuusei spoke in the past sense, for even if Yasu was alive (but in a coma) it seemed like her presence was a lifetime ago - One day I asked her how she could be so brave, fighting bad people with Quirks while she herself had no special power. She answered that she wasn't brave at all, that she was always nervous and doubtful every time those moments came. I was shocked. But then she said: "I'm glad that I'm like that, because I know that if I can overcome myself I can overcome any challenge ahead of me".Ryuu ate another dumpling. It's okay for you to be nervous. You just have to learn how to accept it and channel it the right way. Fighting doesn't mean risking being at fault for someone's death, it means accepting the responsibility of being the reason someone lives. Did that advice made sense? Or was it to general? Ryuusei didn't know, but he felt like he needed to say something, so that's what he chose. Hopefully the message got across. In the meanwhile, he would keep on eating.
