Finally, the day Darren the UA sports club had been waiting for -- specifically, its football team -- was here. It was time to play sevens football!
It had been a couple months since the sports club formed after the events of Semper Fi, and started training on the newly-built facilities. Among them was a football pitch, and given the sport’s non-stop rise in popularity in Japan over the last hundred years, it was no surprise that football ended up being one of the most played sports, and soon enough, they ended up getting their first ‘official’ match.
It was a bit of a big word; in truth, this match was to be a pre-season friendly against a local Musutafu team. Strapped for players, with only five regulars, the fledgling team had to resort to putting up announcements all over the campus. They read very simply, with little formatting at all; neither Darren or Kirk were very handy with that stuff.
“Players wanted for a friendly game of pick-up football next Sunday! No prior experience required! Come and have fun on the pitch, meet your classmates and help us show Japan that Yueei is number one! PLUS ULTRA!
PS: Cleats and uniforms will be provided for free by the sports club. Contact Daimon Darren or Kirk Bluster for details.”
And today was that Sunday morning.
---
While the local team was still preparing inside the locker rooms, a minibus pulled up in the parking lot in front of the school. “Whoa,” said a first year. “Don’t be impressed. Its just another elite Tokyo school,” answered another kid, much taller, with bushy brows, messy brown hair and brown eyes fixated on the tall buildings. He seemed lost in thought. “And remember. We’re only here for training.”
Out of their bus stepped the Itagakuen FC, all wearing matching blue tracksuits. They were met by a man dressed all in black, though his was a proper, regular suit, with only a trenchcoat of the same color over it to accommodate the seasonal weather: Kobayashi Touma, the school principal. “Welcome to UA High, and on behalf of the sports club, thank you for your participation in this friendly match. We hope to entertain good relations with your school in the future. The team is already changing, so if you’ll follow me, I’ll guide you to the locker room.” Hands were shaken with the coach, and soon Itagakuen was being walked through the school’s heavily guarded entrance. “Quite the security you got there, chief,” said the taller boy in a tone far too casual for the authority the principal usually commanded with his presence alone.
“There’s more inside,” answered the man in the same even tone he always spoke in.
“Kagawa-senpai, you’re gonna get in trouble again,” murmured Ishida Takeshi, the first-year. He was a good head smaller than everyone else on his team and spoke in a mild-mannered voice, carefully peppering his speech with the appropriate honorifics so as not to offend anyone. Especially with Kagawa.
Kagawa Kenichi, a third year, was the only player from Itagakuen’s first team who made the trip to UA; the rest of the team, Ishida included, were normally substitutes or reserve players. Nonetheless, and despite being a public school, Itagakuen had a reputation for having a great soccer team, regularly participating in the national tournament, so even their reserves were competent players. But Kagawa was on another level; a tall, 185cm tall center forward, he had power in his legs to match Darren or Jasmine, but his accuracy and on-the-ball skills were comfortably above any of the players UA could line up today.
“Don’t worry, Ishida. It’s just a friendly against an amateur team, I ain’t gonna get sent off here. I’m out of here as soon as my suspension’s over.” His hands in his pockets, the taller adolescent’s frown had never left him. He glanced over his shoulder at the smaller Ishida. “I’ll be counting on your pass in the meantime. If you want me to put up a good word with the first team, you better deliver on these set-ups we practiced in training.” Ishida gulped. “H-hai, senpai.”
Before long, they’d reach their locker room and change. They would come out first, setting themselves up in a 2-3-1 formation, with Kagawa as a lone forward and Ishida behind him in central midfield; a classic formation for sevens, well-balanced between secure defense and solid offense. Now, only the students from UA High were yet to enter the pitch… And as soon as they would, they’d be met with Kagawa’s intense stare; not the stare one usually gave off in a friendly match. And should they be eagle-eyed, maybe they’d spy Ishida’s much more timid, much more fascinated gaze of admiration.
Yuuei finally entered the pitch, under the cheers of their fellow students and the few parents who attended. Kagawa mumbled something under his breath. “Better be ready to get handed your first defeat, hero kids.”
Despite the chill in the air, today promised to be a heated match.

The locker rooms of UA were designed to the new coed standard, with two proper locker areas separated by blinds so that boys and girls could change away from prying eyes joining into a main lobby, where the players were encouraged to put on their cleats and huddle before the game and during half-time.
Daimon Darren had just finished putting on his kit, the deep blue shirt with the white shorts, highlighted red. The number 9 was sewn just below his last name, on his back; a striker’s number, his number. He finished tying up his black and red cleats, doing the old trick of going around the shoe with the lace for better grip (and destroyed laces) and got up. Clack clack, resounded the metal spikes on the hard ground.
He punched his palm. The fire in Darren’s eyes was unmistakeable. “Alright, guys. It’s do or die or some shit like that. All the football schools straight up refused to practice with us but this one, and they sent us their bloody reserves. They don’t wanna see us on a pitch, apparently. Bet you it has something to do with that Semper Fi crap when they said we were trainin’ to be terrorists or some crap. I know it’s a friendly n’ all, but I’m lookin’ to win.” He seemed to remember something. “Ah, one sec,” he said as he crouched down to dig inside the cardboard box in which their jerseys had arrived. “Here it is.”
The delinquent was holding a yellow armband, with a C printed in black font on it. “For the captain’s armband, I think there’s only one choice.” He threw the piece of cloth at Kirk, across the room. “We wouldn’t have a field, a team or even a club without ya. I’m counting on ya, Captain Kirk.” He paused for a second before looking around the room with murder in his eyes. “Anyone who makes the joke is off the team.” He then grinned wide. Hopefully, that and the fact they barely had enough people for a sevens would make it clear it was a joke.
After that last bit of locker room banter, though, the match would be starting, and the Yuuei FC would be headed for their first match. They themselves lined in a 2-2-2, a formation requiring mobile players to track back and keep superiority in numbers in all areas of the pitch; everyone had to defend, but everyone got to attack as well.
As they came out the tunnel and took their positions, Darren couldn’t hide the childish grin he had going from ear to ear. Today promised to be a fun match.

Standing in front of her locker Elise couldn't help but find herself grinning sheepishly at the thought of what was about to happen. "Seems we're actually going to play in a football match, and to think I started practicing it just to impress you and make Darren accept my claim for that number ten jerey~" A hearty chuckle-escaped the burgundy-haired lass her lips as she finished putting on the jersey and started to tie her hair together into a ponytail. Shifting her gaze to Yumi and Relena she mused happily. "Glad to have you with us Yumi~ And... Relena-chan was it? It would be a bit embarrassing if it were just me and Tetsu with all the boys~"
A soft chuckle escaped her lips as she finished the last of her preparations and joined the rest of the team in the main lobby. As expected Darren was already there, and just like she imagined he was primed with excitement! "Of course, we practiced hard, it be disappointing if we didn't play to win!" Of course, she didn't forget about the fact that having fun was just as important as winning a game, and while she was putting on her cleats she watched Darren approach Kirk and decide to give him the Captain armband. She had to admit that he had a point, without Kirk they wouldn't have had a field to practice on, a team or even a sports club to begin with. "Beam me up Darry~" Elise quipped in defiant amusement as she soon nodded toward Kirk with a grin. "I agree~ Nobody fits that role as well as you do Kirk! Just don't start squatting in the middle of the game~"
As she gently pulled herself off the bench and stretched her arms into the air, making her way into the tunnel with the others. However, right before she reached the exit and she watched Darren briefly disappear behind her, and already expecting something when a sudden upwards speeding motion led her to swiftly make a sidestep as a foot zoomed past the spot her rear had been at moments ago, leading Elise to snicker at Darren. "Keep your energy for on the pitch~" and soon joined the others on the pitch. As expected an event as hyped as this had earned quite a lot of spectators, fellow students and family of the students had gathered to spectate the match, perhaps even a few locals from Musutafu? However, one sight made Elise's cheeks flush up brightly as an energetic voice called out to them.
"Go! Go! Yūei Kōkō! Go! Go! Tetsu Eli~"
With the same energy and enthusiasm of a high schooler, a young woman was waving a flag back and forth from nearby, soon calling out to the nearby man in the suit. "Go on Touma-kun don't be shy now~ you should cheer for your students also~"
Turning her gaze to Tetsuko she smiled sheepishly and whispered softly. "I wouldn't be surprised if your grandmother is somewhere nearby also" Elise chimed in as she briefly looked around before taking her spot at the pitch, seemingly taking the spot of the midfielder, the number 10 clearly shown on her back. She had trained a lot for this moment, and with everyone's help, she was certain everyone would have a lot of fun today! After all, this was their debut as a team! Of course, Elise was quite excited at this spectacle.
(permission from Darren for the kick shenanigan~)

Post by Ryuusei Igarashi on Jan 23, 2019 19:05:06 GMT -4
Dreams breathe life into men. The stars... I'll reach them.
It felt like a surprinsigly good day. The sun was out – something uncommon for the season – and there was little to no breeze. It seemed like the Gods decided to be on their side today.
Ryuusei was wearing a long-sleeved white shirt with a oversized black t-shirt above it. His black shorts had three white strips on both sides, something that matched the black socks and white sneakers. And, of course, he walked with his headphones on and a silver earring dangling from his ear while holding on the sports bag with his prefered left hand.
Ahhh, why did I went along with this…? the boy kept asking to himself.
Not only had Daimon Darren been capable of persuading Ryuusei into joining the Sports Club, he was also able to convince him to join the new Yuuei Football Club and actually make him participate on their first friendly home match. If the blonde kid eventually gave upo n being a Hero then Ryuusei was sure that a career as a marketeer awaited the young slightly crazy schoolmate.
Ryuusei was feeling much better from the surgery and was now only taking one pain-killer per day. Movement felt easy and he had been able to actually work out a little bit with his father at their private dojo. If the school – or anyone else – had learned the real extent of his injuries from the previous month, participating on the exhibition match would totally be out of question. Thankfully Ryuu had done a good job in hiding the truth and making everyone believe that his fight with Nick had been the same as a simple scrap. Besides, the doctors told him to start to slow down in the Hero side of things, so the football team seemed like the perfect distraction – even if Ryuusei was feeling quite lazy.
It was on his way to the lockeroom that he bumped with someone straight on. Mostly his fault, since he was looking down at his cellphone in order to turn the music down. Glacing back at who he had bumped into, Ryuusei saw a stranger: slightly taller than him, definetely more athletic, a common yet intense face. The boy eyed Ryuusei up and down before walking off. Such action made Ryuusei not even bother to apologize.
The mood in the lockeroom felt nice: the captain armband being given to Kirk, Darren cracking up jokes and everyone else trying to talk a little bit in order to ease the nerves. That wasn’t a problema with Ryuusei, who just kept to himself while getting changed into the Yuuei FC uniform.
Number 19, his favorite number. Under the club shirt, Ryuusei decided to wear a long-sleeved one of the same colour. His socks were pulled all the way up and his soccer shoes were platinum coloured. On his forehead he wore a white headband, due to his now blond hair that, despite short for him, could be considered longish by everyone else – and long enough to fall into the eyes while playing football.
Arriving at the field, he took the position that had been instructed to him. Ryuusei was to be Darren’s striking partner that day. Fine by him. That meant only having to wait for the ball to come to him, right?
Right in front of him, someone was staring quite intensily. Ryuusei took notice.
Oh, so that’s why I didn’t recognize him.
It was the boy with which Ryuusei had bumped earlier. He was on the other team and looked to be taking stuff way more seriously than Ryuu was. Great. Now the match would surely not be a pain at all.

Post by Kirk Bluster on Jan 24, 2019 11:50:25 GMT -4
There was something about Kirk that day. Something very unnoticeable to someone who knew him very little. Whether it was how tight he knotted his shoelaces, whether it was his dark blue shirt, with tiny red borders and big white letter 2 smacked on his back. Maybe it was the surprising addition of a little bit of hairgel on his hairdo so it stayed all puffed up? Or was it the fact that the guy was already ready, before anybody else had even properly changed clothes? Kirks nostrils widened up a little, as he took a deep breath in, only to sigh out in a loud manner, standing like a monument to pristine relaxation with his hands on his hips, squatting gently and slowly, without saying a word.
He was absolutely giddy. This had been planned for ages. Since U.A wasn't exactly as big as the schools back home, he had been actually worried if they would get a proper excited sports team together. Him and Darrens effort at making a poster for last minute recruits had however been a huge success, and they had been able to meet the quota so they could play... But nobody wanted to! They handled them like amateurs! And now, they were fighting against reserves of some other team... However, in this situation, not a moment was spared to thinking about what his friends would think about him falling that low. Playing SOCCER of all things with amateurs at a university that wasn't even sports related.
It had been SUCH a long time! Too long! Like over half a year since he had played a big match like this! "Know that you two dudettes made this possible!" He turned his head towards Yumi and Relena, giving a big thumbs up. Relena was the unique kind of surprise, a player he had no idea about how she would do. But Yumi, the bombshell of 1-C was pretty much a natural fit for fastpaced games like these! Honestly, he was surprised he hadn't requested her separately to join the sports team... Maybe he was afraid it would distract him or some others? A teeny tiny blushed crossed under his nose, as he regained composure. Nah, he had let people choose themselves if they wanted to join. If they didn't want to play, that was up to them.
Kirk answered Darrens call, immediately walking over to him. It seemed that he was taking this very seriously. "Victory or death" and so forth. However, Kirk made sure to listen to every single word. This was not like Junkos class. This was Darren. His best bro with Tetsuko, and overall the swellest dude he knew, aside from his bit rude demeanors. The guy had so much guts that it almost spilled into his speech. However, Kirks eyebrows rose, when he told that they wouldn't be meeting in the middle... "Huh.. Well, I suppose that just means...!" He was about to say something in a classically loud fashion, gripping his shoulder, and swinging his arm about...
When darren shuffled through the box, and threw him the captains strap. He grabbed it from the air, and looked at it for a moment... before he proceeded to strap it around his head, like a sweatband. "You can count on me bro!" He had expected Darren to be the leader... but the way he said it, it was like this was all thanks to Kirk. If that's what he thought, Kirk couldn't help, but let the pride swell up in his chest, straightening his back, as Elise gave a jokey comment. "NO SIR!" He smacked his fingers with all the serious might against his forehead, outright leaving a red mark, with not even a hint of sarcasm. He was taking his duty as the leader semi seriously...
"But, remember dudes and dudettes!" He lifted his index finger attention seekingly. "I want you guys to have legit FUN today. I don't want any of you guys to end up using dirty tricks just to get us a win. I wanna show these folks a GOOD, HEARTPUMPING GAME! And we won't get that with any kicks against the enemy team." He opened his arms, and clamped the rest of the people into big ol' hug. "Besides, I think all of us are in this for that reason, and not just to win! I hope!" He gave a smile, releasing any peeps he had grabbed from his grasp, proceeding to walk forward towards the field. "Now hurry up. I can't keep my legs waiting much longer, hehe!"
And since that involved being the "Face for the crew", As he entered the stage, He immediately lifted his arms up high, taking a breath in and shouting. "HELLO DUDES AND DUDETTES! YOU READY TO PLAY BALL!?" That american side of him shone through! He wanted to get the crowd cheering, even if this wasn't a big match for them.
After all, this was a big match for him and his team. Their big debut. They had to leave an impression.
Standing in the middle of their side of the field, Kirk locked eyes with Kagawa, who seemed to be mumbling something angrily. He took a serious look of his own. "NOW, I heard you fellows didn't wanna meet us before we start the game! Is that true?!" He crossed his arms, before punching one of them forward. "If that's the case, after the match, I want a brofist from every single one of you, whether we win or lose! Got it!? Cause we are gonna show you that you are not the only SPORTS heroes on this field!" The fist turned into a thumbs up like challenge, as he walked over to his position and got a couple last stretches in...
Grandpa was gonna be in for a hell of a show today.

Post by Yumi Tasukai on Jan 30, 2019 7:14:11 GMT -4
Yumi hadn’t really known what she was expecting out of the sports teams and the extra volunteers really. I mean, while she HAD had some intent to sign up if she seemed to handle the ball at all decently, Darren had ended up getting ahead of himself and treating her like she’d already joined the team. Briefly even now she was wondering if it wouldn’t be so bad to join the sports club. She was getting a lot more athletic thanks to her hero training lately, she apparently had a knack for handling the ball (though she was far from perfect) and really? It seemed like a bunch of people she really liked were in the club…
Yeah. Maybe she’d ask Darren about it after the game. Assuming she didn’t end up over-thinking it again.
Drawn from the more quiet and less frantic thoughts of that potential question, Yumi blinked as Elise seemed to be addressing them, the clasp of her sports bra having been hanging open for a solid minute as she’d been lost in her brief daze? “Oh? OH! Oh don’t worry about it I’m glad to be here! Darren thought I had a knack for it and you know me, always looking for a chance to lend a hand.~” She gave a playful wink before finally fixing up her bra, pulling out the sports kit the school (or Darren?) had provided and sliding it over herself. On the plus side she got 6 on the back. A favoured number of hers. On the downside it seemed just a hair too small. It still covered her entirely, but a little taught in the chest, and she was pretty sure when she started running it’d be lifted enough to be showing midriff.
She really hoped she didn’t get any friction burns off the grass, but dire tackles didn’t seem to be the name of the game here, so she was pretty sure she’d be okay. Yeah.
Joining the boys in the lobby, Yumi smiled brightly at the boys from her class and gave a little wave, though her eyes did catch onto Kirk as he gave her and the other volunteer a bit of thanks. “Aw think nothing of it Kirky~” Her eyes flickered open, seeming to catch something and she stepped across, gently toying with his hair. Not much, just a little. “Oh you look handsome today. Hair gel’s a nice touch~” She winked, still ever oblivious to how flirty her compliments could be before leaning back against the wall as Darren got a handle on making sure everyone was on the same page.
With Kirk being made captain, Yumi had a look of brief surprise but it soon faded. Darren could be the type to want glory but he was also…modest probably wasn’t the right word, but he was fair. He didn’t take credit where it wasn’t due, and he put others on a pedestal as much as he put himself on one. It was a good bag of traits and she could never see him failing in terms of self confidence. She did giggle at the obvious captain kirk joke, and spoke up- “Oh come on that’s like telling us not to think of elephants.~ Now it’s the only thing any of us wanna do!~”
Giggling warmly as she and everyone else got pulled into a brief hug, enjoying it just as much as Kirk was hopefully enjoying giving it, she hugged back around everyone and squeezed her arms a little before they all let go. Yumi was in a REALLY good mood about all this now and was eager to get out there and see what she could do, giving Kirk a light tap on the back as they headed out.
“Warp speed captain!~”
Out on the field Yumi would briefly look to Darren for some non-verbal guidance. Making sure she was doing right with where she stood. Unsure if she was meant to head right to her ‘spot’ or to stick with the team for a moment. Whatever Darren seemed to hint at she’d follow suit and play along, smirking at their captain as he presented himself so optimistically and friendly. Geeze why wasn’t he class president? Heck Yumi wasn’t even getting paranoid about that he was so upbeat and full of life it was a genuine question!

❝You're showing me colours of the sky, But all I see is Grey❞ 449 w. Football! kenjutsu-f | reinforcement-f | radiant dawn-e For what seemed like forever, Relena was sitting on the bench of the locker room. Her body was shaking from the anxiety of what was to come. The sport club was in need of members for the upcoming match against some rival team and Relena had simply jumped in. She knew Daimon Darren from her time in the Martial Arts Club and had come to respect the man's ideals. So when he called for help, she answered. But now that she was here...the idea of everyone watching her got the blonde girl quite riled up.
She jumped slightly when Elise spoke up. She blinked at her before nodding, unsure of herself. "Y-Yeah...same to you. Girl power and all that."
Relena didn't really say anything to Yumi, since she didn't know the girl too well, and slipped into the kit that was provided to her. The number 3 eh? Heh, fate must be on my side...lucky number. The cleets felt strange, since she usually wore boots, but she would grow accustomed to them. With her preparations finished, Relena followed Elise and Yumi out into the main room.
The first thing to happen kind of shook the girl as Kirk himself outright thanked her and Yumi for their roles. She felt her face go red, so Relena lowered her head and tucked her arms behind her back. "I am glad that I could be of help." She murmured.
All this talk of fun and sportsmanship got her feeling even more nervous. She couldn't help but feel like she might mess up and cause them to lose. She never played the game before and it was something she never brought up. Back home, Uncle rarely let her watch television, so she only had basic knowledge of football from books she read a couple days ago. Maybe the nerves would wear off when she got out there? Who knows.
She just stood silently as Darren gave his speech, which brought a small smile from Relena, and she followed behind the team as they made their way out to the field. She took her position in the 2-2-2 formation, ready to switch up and take her more defensive oriented job. But seeing the crowd around them brought something up from within her. Seeing her team banter with the enemy and bring inspiration from the crowd made Relena feel her heart pump with enthusiasm. She didn't feel quite so afraid anymore. In fact, she was starting to feel pumped for the match that was to come.
She crouched forward with her hands resting on her knees as she grinned widely at her team. "Best of luck to you all! Let us have fun today, team!"

Post by Tetsuko Shindou on Feb 1, 2019 8:27:46 GMT -4
Putting on the kit felt as natural as anything, even if it was the first time she'd worn these particular colors. U.A.'s very own soccer team was something Tetsuko wouldn't have dared to miss out on. She'd said it time and time again, that her hometown was about swords, steel, shrine and soccer. Today she got to show off her passion for the last. Tetsuko finished donning her own kit, the number 1 sewn into it, the number of her favored position as a goalkeeper. A suitable bastion, a role she intended to fulfill well and dutifully!
"Well, if you want to impress me, you better do that number proud." Tetsuko would reply to her girlfriend as they finished preparations. Once the Shindou girl had her own cleats on, she also put on the goalkeeping gloves that were unique to her position. Like Elise, her hair was also tied back for the game. The Germanic lass greeted the other two girls, Tetsuko nodding in kind toward them. Yumi wasn't someone Tetsuko had interacted with much before, but was a friend of Elise's. Relena was someone Tetsuko hadn't ever met before, but she seemed nice enough so far. Once they were all ready, they headed out to meet up with the boys, where Darren was awaiting with his usual bravado.
Tetsuko waited by to hear all his words about the importance of victory, something she'd come to learn was a key belief of the boy. In this case, however, she could understand him to some degree. If victory here could somehow create more respect in the eyes of their opponents, and get them more matches and less rejections, perhaps it would do well to further promote the good name of U.A. Of course, Tetsuko was just as interested in having fun too, as dumb as it sounded. This was just another way that she enjoyed and respected her 'origin'.
They were all there now, including the one responsible for getting this whole thing off the ground, their now Captain Kirk. Smirking at Elise's joke, Tetsuko nodded alongside the others in agreement. "There's no one I'd rather have as captain. Lead us right on to victory, Kirk." The Shindou girl said firmly. The American lad gave his own speech, every bit as honorable and enthusiastic as she'd expected of this sportsman. The hug was a bit much for her, but Tetsuko was still glad to have the lad as their captain. Kirk was the kind of guy who knew exactly what it meant to be competitive without turning to dishonor, to strive to win and pit your all against an opponent out of respect and dignity. He also knew, most importantly, how to have a helluva lot of fun while doing it.
If this were a tournament of battle, Tetsuko would not be grinning nearly as much as she walked onto the field, into the view of the crowds. Luckily, today's match was around a hobby of hers more than anything else, so she was quite eager to get into it and show off to the those watching. A few spectators in particular, one of which was Elise's mother, who was cheering enthusiastically from the stands. Eli pointed out that Tetsuko's own grandmother might be watching, but by that point the Shindou girl had already spotted the filthy Reds supporter in the stands. An older woman with a smokeless cigarrette in her mouth, with short gray hair and a proud look to her, smirking at Tetsuko as if to say 'Give em hell, kid'. Tetsuko just smiled back, before assuming her own position on the field, in front of their serious looking opponents.
It was time to show them some Kashima spirit.

The second he took his place on the bleachers, the principal saw a great big handmade flag being waved from the seat next to him, and -- of course it was Diane von Eisenberg. A seemingly bottomless well of energy seemed to animate the women of this family, out and on their feet mere weeks after waking up from a comatose state. He sighed, but got up with the other parents to applaud the students walking on to the pitch.
---
So that’s who the Yuuei students were, judged Kagawa as he saw them walk to the pitch, attempting and failing to kick each other’s asses, joking around, making a mockery of his sport. There was no way he would lose here, so he mumbled something about the hero kids eating their first defeat.
It caught their center-back and tallest player’s attention, who gave him the stink eye. Kagawa gave it back, his frown hardening. If he had a problem with him, he’d better say it now if he was a man. He even threw a fist at them. This guy definitely wanted to fight. Bring it on, I’m gonna drill your defense, thought the adolescent. Ain’t matter if you’re a brute of a pro hero. Try to foul me, I’ll drive every penalty home, motherf--
Wait, a brofist?
Kagawa was dumbfounded for a second. He wanted… A brofist? Was it an euphemism? Now that he thought of it, that guy didn’t really sound angry or confrontational at all… He was dumbfounded for a second, but the striker was quick to break into laughter. “Hahahaha! Win or lose? And you call yourself a ‘sports hero’? Well, take it from an actual player, Sunday League center-back. Only the winner gets to ask something of the loser.” He dropped his head as a teeth-bare grin drew itself on his face. It was time for the kick-off.
The referee’s whistle was blown and Kagawa immediately dashed forward, seemingly skipping over the ball as he back-heeled it to his midfielder without stopping or slowing his acceleration. Even without ball to feet, he was gonna begin his offensive immediately, showing all of his class and experienced as a veteran nationals-level player and pace comparable with Elise’s.
The one who caught that first back pass was Ishida, and pressure or not, he would lose not time after his first touch, setting the ball and immediately scooping it back to his teammate with a lobbed pass. He had a worried look on his face, but the pass was a quality one, piercing the first line of Ryuusei and Darren and landing right into his course as he was coming through the right side of the pitch. He’d take his first touch right in front of the small girl with the number 10 jersey, and he was intending to dispatch her immediately.
Poum. With a swift swipe of his right foot, he kicked the ball to the side, far from either Elise or himself, and he immediately kept running past Elise. Their right midfielder was here to receive the pass and immediately play a through ball back to the striker; a simple, but perfectly executed one-two. Should it fool the midfielder expecting a dribble, Kagawa would head straight to the number 2 center back, the brofist guy at full pace, and this time it would be clear that there wouldn’t be any one-twos. He was gonna dribble the shit out of Kirk, or at least try to. Clearly, Kagawa had something to prove; maybe Kirk’s words had triggered something in him.
The air was certainly thick inside the pitch, but the students and parents in the bleachers around them were oblivious. They were cheering, waving custom-made UA flags and even the new cheerleader club was here to celebrate the joyous occasion that a match of football was all around the world, the on-the-pitch rivalries only enhancing the spectacle. And not even a minute into the game, after Itagakuen showed that even their reserves trained every day and were perfectly capable of playing a tactical passing game, perhaps the first confrontation of the game would happen between the intense striker and the sportsman captain. (ooc: if Elise is passed, then Kagawa is moving into UA's defensive third while going for Kirk. here is a quick animation, don't take it too literally it's just to give an idea of what is intended)

She had to admit, the way the Itagakuen's player talked back to Kirk annoyed her slightly, even if her expression still remained calm. In fact, her lips were curved into a small smile, knowing all too well that if they wanted to make those students think otherwise, that they would have to prove themselves on the pitch! Of course, people had gathered to spectate, the sight of all the students and even her cheering mother, and the applauding principal filled her with a sense of vigor which felt oddly exciting. Of course, there was no better way to spend all that energy than upon the pitch. It appeared the game was ready to begin, for the referee's whistle was accompanied with a sudden dash from Kagawa, the intense striker skipping over the ball and with a skillful back-heel send it to their midfielder. Elise knew all too well that there were two options: Either they were going to play it safe, or more likely it was a set up for a pass. And indeed, just like she had expected the burgundy-haired lass watched Kagawa dash straight ahead into her direction, and their midfielder was more than fast enough to send a solid lobbed pass past their strikers, meaning it was up to the midfielders and defense to take the spotlight.
Considering he was dashing toward her, and recalling his earlier attitude Elise had to admit she expected the proudful football player to try to dribble past her, yet he didn't even pay her any attention, a swift pass to their midfielder leaving Kagawa the means to dash further into their defensive side.
For some reason, she couldn't help but feel as if she had been ignored. As if she had not been perceived as a threat or a challenge, and for someone like Elise, that felt... frustrating. Gritting her teeth the moment Kagawa dashed past her, Elise soon displayed why she was considered one of the faster students at U.A, a sudden sideways dash following as she chased after Kagawa. Clearly, he was planning to advance deeper into their side of the pitch, which meant that his target was Kirk.
Indeed, just as the ball was send from their midfielder back to Kagawa Elise took action. Turning inward with the foot that was nearest to Kagawa, Elise turned her hips and shoulders into the direction of the teenager. Crouching slightly downwards and hooking the inside of her tackling foot toward the ball, attempting to hook the ball just as Kagawa would make contact with it. "If you want to get to our Captain, you got to get past me first!" Elise exclaimed in protest, hoping that her side-block would work in taking a hold of the ball that had been passed to Kagawa.
If she succeeded in claiming possession of the ball, Elise would swiftly act. after having turned she would proceed to kick the ball with her left foot in the hope of delivering a clean pass into Yumi's direction. If she failed, then perhaps she would be locked in a face-off against Kagawa, or possibly even had him get past her. Only time would tell...

HEY YOUNG BLOOD DOESN'T IT FEEL LIKE TIME IS RUNNING OUT? She had made a training schedule in the morning so they were quite close by, to hurry up and get to the location of the football match. Rowan was quite pale as she was super nervous about the cheerleader squad now working in practice. Not everyone could show up but she knew that because they started their first assemble only days before.
They had finished their training right before the match started and thus they were wearing their cheerleader outfits, not all were ready yet but her seamstress had finished the ones for the girls that were coming along, so that worked very well. Rowan was wearing a bag with her pompons hidden in there and her leather jacket hid most of her outfit. Now that there was a moment that the football team could use support, she had her pompons out soon and sipped her jacket open and dropped it on the stand. "V!" She yelled and jumped up spelling with the other girls the rest of the world: I C T O R Y While getting off the stands and towards the field, they were on time to do this and she was glad that Arisu had figured out a yell minutes before and it was still in her head. Jumping up with the pompons and getting to the sideline.
The routine was not too difficult, moving her pompons to the right side, shaking them, moving them above her head, shaking again and to the left while saying the second phase of their yell. "UA offence, time to fly!" She rolled her pompons in front of her chest, shaking her hips, "Can't spell Guard without UA!" She jumped up with a cheer and making her steps backwards, they had to continue their yell if they did not want to take too much time. The next part might be tricky, she would hold up Arisu as a small 3 person pyramid with someone else, she believed in the hurry of seeing the other person it would be Melody, as she had looked at who was her size so the lifting would go easier. Same for the other team. "Our Defense can't be beat today!" It felt unnatural to shout so loudly but everyone should hear it and she watched how the girl she was holding jumped off, she hoped it was nicely in timing, she had no eye for that as she had to make sure no one tumbled off, "You want to spell defeat? Well then~" They had this instructed as looking at each other from giving away a secret before throwing up one pompon at a time, with moving their right hand above their head, lowering, then left hand above their head and yelling out the last sentence. "We give you I-Ta-Ga-Ku-En!" With their yell said and done, she hurried back to further away from the sideline and let the team obviously continue without interruption of the cheerleaders, her eyes scanning to see the players, she hoped that their own team wasn't distracted too much.

--- arisu --- - - - There was a constant thud in the back of Arisu's head as she stood among the crowd, tucked into her jacket with her pompoms handles poking out of one pocket, the thick fluffy frills carefully packed in to avoid damage or notice. She was waiting for Rowan to kick them off. The cue was gonna be simple- one letter, V, the first sound of the cheer she'd thought up and shared with the rest of the squad when they arrived. After that, everyone was to get out of the crowd and start their routine as they chanted the letters in order as if introducing themselves, practiced and simple, but new nonetheless and not one bit less anxiety driving for the practice. Thoughts crashed through her mind, nerves blasting her with worries about missteps, embarrassments, whether the cheer was any good, each thought in and out barely before the next came smashing through. The only saving grace was years of practice keeping that stress from being visible, which meant that when she heard Rowan start undoing her zipper, she at least looked the part as she pulled down her own, set her jacket aside, and pulled her pompoms free just in time to call out a a bright, cheerful "I!" as she took her place beside Rowan, presumably with the other squad members popping out of the crowd to complete their ambush cheer routine! "V I C T O R Y! UA offense! Time to fly! Can't spell guard without UA!" Arisu tried not to think too much of what the hip roll in those short skirts might look like, instead thinking forward through the cheer and the pompom positions and what came next. As they ran into the middle of the cheer, Melody and Rowan stepped together in front of her, crouching to let her step up onto their hands and get hoisted up, all without interrupting the cheer. Thankfully, Arisu was increasingly used to heights since discovering her quirk could launch her almost two stories straight up if she needed it to, and standing on the two girl's shoulders, more or less, wasn't so intimidating as it would have been a couple weeks ago. "Our defense can't be beat today! Want to spell defeat? Well, then-" Arisu dismounted just in time to join in the final flourish as the squad swung their pompoms up above their heads as they shouted the last line of their cheer as fervently as they could! "We give you I-Ta-Ga-Ku-En!!!" When Rowan started their retreat back to the sideline to ensure they didn't interfere with the continuing play, Arisu made sure to cheer and holler anyhow, helping to keep the crowd engaged in supporting UA. She could tell Rowan was trying to figure out if they'd been too distracting, and she hoped she could keep the others leading the crowd in enthusiasm by example- because she sure didn't have the gumption to do it by verbal direction right now. She was still desperately reassuring herself that the bloomers under her skirt were way more modest than a bikini and it didn't matter if someone had caught a glimpse of them anyway. While he wasn't actually with others in the pyramid or with the pom poms Jisa stood roughly a tiny bit ahead hoisting the small or perhaps decent sized flag with school emblems and colors so the crowd and opposing sides could see. His clothing was less a full cheer uniform and more a pair of nice UA colored sports pants and he'd taken the liberty of painting some of his upper fur as well in the colors as well as it was more comfortable then covering his body too much. A little pain was less over heating then covering his fur in a full extra layer.
For each heavy cheer and moment he'd wave the colors proudly in a attempt to be as flashy as one could. The small rabbit boy doing his best to put on the proper sense of school spirit to draw even more eyes towards the cheer squad and gain further attention as the other members gave out with the true cheers and support hurrah!
Using the banner flags and color to try and draw attention as a sort of silent spectacle of school spirit and colors. The actual cheers and more intricate routines coming from those next to him in the pyramids and synced up cheer phrases. But that stop him from at least attempting to do the proper dances correctly to insure he was seen and in turn drawing in more notice for all of them in turn.

Finally in the cute new UA cheerleader uniform, with her slender legs and belly button on display (but not her eyes, those were still shaded), Farrah arrived on the football field with a smirk on her face. "I've met all my teammates, all who I adore! Now I get to scope out those we will be cheering for!" she rambled to herself, shading her eyes further using one hand as she surveyed the field. Already, the poetess was shivering, from a mix of the breezy outfit she was wearing and the excitement she felt.
Even without the uniforms to give it away, Farrah would know which team was hers, from the few she recognized: Tetsu stood out, and Kirk stood out even more. Besides those, there were the cheerleaders: Rowan, ever-punctual, along with Jisa and Arisu. The cheers were already underway, with Rowan and Arisu each trying a few out and Jisa providing enthusiastic banner flourishes. She approached them, swapping a pom-pom into each hand and shaking then preemptively. "Jisa, I see you've really come out of your shell! The pep in your hop suits this work well!" she congratulated the small cheerleader.
She wanted to chew the fat with the others and, for that matter, the football team, but either was kind of impossible to do with the football game going on. Thus, she went straight into cheering instead. During practice, she had learned that some of the "advanced cheers" she had come up with were going to need some time to catch on. For now, she should keep it sweet and effective by doing the cheers the others knew. "C!" would be a good start, so she cheered that out, then tried very hard not to follow it up with "me" just to make a rhyme.
Thankfully, the rest of the cheering was all I'm rhyme form, which made it easy to continue. If the rest of the team showed up, she could start forming the next pyramid; otherwise, she was content to dance with her pom poms, trying her best to emulate Rowan's sexy movements without breaking off into her own freeform. Every now and then, especially during slow parts, it seemed as though it was simply impossible for her to go without making some weird vogue motion, like throwing back her head or freeze-framing in profile.

Melody had been worried about getting the routine down pat, doing minor movements to remind herself what it was she needed to do. She went through them over and over, she was almost so absorbed in it she ALMOST missed the signal to start the routine. She saw the letter V and bolted out of the crowd toward the positions they were suppose to take while also chanting out the cheer. At first she had nerves but playing music in front of her friends helped her steel her nerves a bit since this was kind of no different than playing the piano in front of others! At least that's what she thought before she saw darren was playing the game. Frick! Of course he was playing the sports game, it was just her stupid luck. She tried her best to ignore it but she continued to side eye him, if that idiot messed it up she'd never let him hear the end of it.
"V I C T O R Y! UA offense! Time to fly! Can't spell guard without UA!!"
With that she moved onto the next part of the routine, she hip rolled her light blue pom poms in front of herself, she was getting really into this routine! She felt like she could really start to get into this, she got to let all her energy out and make others happy and excited. Melody was prepped to lift up Arisu and managed to do so pretty well, and while the girls were holding up the position melody decided she wanted to kick it up a notch.
"Our defense can't be beat today! Want to spell defeat? Well, then-"
She said in the final flourish with as much excitement in his voice as she could muster with her lungs. She said activating her quirk and managing to spray a mist over head of the cheerleaders, thin enough to cause a small rainbow to appear over them. She had been practicing this with her quirk for a while and she finally managed to get it just right to work. "We give you I-Ta-Ga-Ku-En!!!Once the cheerleading event was over melody went into the crowd to watch the game or do anything else she was asked of. She paid close attention to the elise and Darren since those were the only two faces she could recgonize. Melody thought she had heard elise's name before cause rin explained how the QED drug was cured and it wasnt hard to remember since it was unique.
