❝You're showing me colours of the sky, But all I see is Grey❞ 393 w. kenjutsu-f | reinforcement-f | radiant dawn-e The grey girl had given her until the weekend to aquire a new copy of the book...it had been three days. And now it was the weekend. Why had it taken Relena so long to complete such a menial and simple task? Two reasons. The first was that the book itself was so stained, ruined, and rife with the smell of coffee that she had to dump it in the trash. She wasn't even sure what the title was since the front was beyond repair. But the other issue was the more pressing matter. Relena had no idea what the girl's name was...so how was she supposed to right this wrong when she didn't even know who she had to repay?
Thus she began her quest to hunt down the elusive grey girl that she dropped a book shelf on. For three days she analyzed school records, traced classrooms, and even resorted to talking to people she would rather not associate with. It shouldn't have been difficult, but she made it that way due to her lack of common social skills. In the end, she was able to speak with the teacher in class 1-C and learn that the grey girl was in fact Risaka Reinacht!
With this information in hand, she spoke with the registrar at the reception to learn about her living arrangements. If Risaka indeed lived on campus, then that would be all the easier to speak with her. If not, well then she could possibly visit her at her home. It would just require some extra effort on Relena's part. Which was fine, considering it was her fault for the entire incident. And after all of her effort, Relena breathed out a sigh of exasperation.
Risaka lived only three doors down from her own room. How did she miss that?
And so Relena came back to the Girls' dorm at UA, marched up the stairs to the third floor, and walked past her own dorm to stand at the proper door. Room 35. Relena nodded to reassure herself that this wasn't a stupid idea, but it was most likely a stupid idea. She knocked on the door with a firm rasp of her knuckles and stood back to see if Risaka would indeed answer her.
She just hoped that there were still no hard feelings. One could only hope...

RISAKA REINACHTU.A Student / Miss Gray
''Everyday I ask myself if I even should bother'' words 628 • tagged @ • notes | Within the hallway of the Girls Dorms one was clearly singled out to stand out from the rest. Maybe it wasn't obvious to the blonde girl but the door and a decent space around it was completely loss of colours. Sad and dim grey shades giving of a very lifeless presence. How it turned into such state was not intentional at Risaka's part, her quirk was unaturally hard to control and if staying somewhere for too long the space around her becomes monochrome. This has been a fact she had to live with ever since requiring her Quirk. Living somewhere simply just became a sad room for her no matter what, and it does take a toll on grey lass. But she lives with it by shrugging it off, being used to the grey life could only do so much until it's something insignificant, for her at least. It was rough living with her adoptive parents for 10 years and being bahsed at for making things monochrome, abusive childhood more or less. But finally living somewhere away from them truly gives Risaka new perspective of how her life can be, that her life can have positive times.
Within her room, all alone with no roommate she casually sat by the desk and read through a book she was assigned to read by her teacher, it's subject was unimportant but rather uninteresting, but still Risaka did her duty as a student to go through with the studies to succeed. With a pair of headphones on while listening to orchestra she was having a peaceful time, it was the weekend afterall. Risaka have even forgotten that a certain someone owe her a book, that only spoke just how much Risaka really cared about knowing others. She wasn't attending this school to have friends, school for her was the place to develope your career and you as a person, call her introvert if you will.
When Relena did knock on the door Risaka felt the impact behind the door phase through her room. She gave off a tiny grunt, despite having her eyes and ears occupied she stood up, frowning already. Taking off her headphones before stepping infront of the door. She didn't wanna open it, if she bothered she could've just pretended to be away, but then the visitor might return another time and that in itself sounds awfully bothersome to her. ''Someones knocking... why now at this time of the week? Please don't let it be a teacher, I swear I haven't done anything vulgar lately, right?'' Thinking to herself she gathered up her thoughts and took a soft deep breath. Unlocking the door she slowly opened it, but only enough for half of her face to peek through the door crack.
''Who is it?''
She spoke before even trying to gather the information that she knew this blonde girl. Staring at her with her left grey eye she could only blink confused. ''Huh... Aren't you that blondie that almost murdered me? Brave of you to knock on my door, planning on knocking the door ontop of me as the icing of the cake?'' With a bit of an angry tone she fully opened the door and let her height and stare look down at the other female. Truly Risaka was naturally hostile, but she didn't seem to be insisting a fight, but more of a -Make This Quick- sort of attitude. With the door fully opened Relena was able to view inside past Risaka. Indeed everything was just as grey as herself, but it was neat and clean, Risaka is a simplistic girl with no need of too many things in her room. |

❝You're showing me colours of the sky, But all I see is Grey❞ 563 w. kenjutsu-f | reinforcement-f | radiant dawn-e Relena wanted to keep her cool in this situation. She had thought that Risaka's quirk was really amazing and she wanted to ask her so much about it, but she felt that it would come off as patronizing. That was the last thing she needed to add on top of the already building ire that the girl felt toward Relena. Perhaps another time? Maybe after we get past this initial awkward phase.
She was too lost in thought about what she would do to repay Risaka that she never quite realized that the doorway was also black and white. She was just worried that this girl still hated her. Of course that answer was given quite quickly as Risaka answered the door with a rather dour aura around her. But her uncle had always taught her to remain neutral in aggressive situations. Never allow your enemy an upper hand in any encounter. But this wasn't an enemy and uncle never taught her how to deal with social engagements. So when Risaka presented her with a hostile stare, Relena had to suppress a shudder. Even sword girls felt intimidated, after all.
"Yes, though I would prefer Relena instead of 'blondie' though it is your preference." She raised a quizzical brow at Risaka. "I do not understand. How would I even go about tearing the door from- Oh, I see. Sarcasm." She gave off a monotone and fake chuckle. "Ha ha. Quite amusing."
Her eye was drawn past Risaka to the room behind her large frame. Relena was actually quite impressed by how clean the dorm was. It almost had a sterile quality to it, which may come across as offensive by some, but it was quite complimentary from the sword wielder. "Compliments on your abode, Risaka."
She coughed into her hand to quickly change the subject, in case the girl did take offense. "Anyway, to the point at hand. It is not bravery that brings me before you. In fact, if it weren't for a particular incident which you may recall quite vividly...I would not have put so much effort into tracking you down."
Relena could have easily asked someone how to work a computer to buy the book online. In fact, Saiko was someone she could have spoken to. But with hackers and scammers out there, Relena didn't want to take the chance of having her identity stolen. Plus her uncle never gave her allowance on a card, so she always carried cash with her. It was unfortunate, but who would be able to rob a hero in training? Honestly.
"This may come across as a tad embarrassing, but one must own up to their mistakes. I seem to have misplaced the ruined book. I do not know the name, nor have I been able to find another copy in the school library that looks similar. However, my uncle in Musutafu runs a small bookstore that the neighborhood community uses to swap different novels. Ah...I appear to be rambling and wasting your time. My apologies."
She bowed her head in apology before continuing. "Put plainly, I would humbly ask if you would join me in a quick sojourn to search for your lost property. I understand that this is asking much of you, but I was hoping you would be available? Perhaps I could even treat you to a meal or a coffee?"

RISAKA REINACHTU.A Student / Miss Gray
''Everyday I ask myself if I even should bother'' words 417 • tagged @ • notes | This Relena girl quickly grew to become a small lady with nothing but bothersome requests. It was not like the monochrome student gave the noble looking blondie to do a simple task. Risaka didn't expect to see her again, Risaka rarely told people to do things for her, she just wanted to be alone. Although even now she wants to finish the book, she thought she got over it but Relena's appearance reignited that desire. Risaka sighed out, almost as if she was defeated, a very one sided defeat.
''Not only did you destroy my book, but you lost it, and not even remembering the name of it, well guess there are no way out of this. Wait, how do you know my name? Ah screw it, I know people talk behind my back so it's no surprise.''
She planted her fists on her hips and closed her eyes, sighing out as if she was a disappointed mother and Relena was a child, the height difference between them only enforced that. Luckily for them there was no one else at the girl dorms corridor on the third floor as of now, Risaka took the opportunity to accept Relena's offer. Maybe it wasn't obvious to the blonde gal, but Risaka didn't wanna be seen with others in her freetime, it felt unatural for the monochrome girl. ''Whatever you say Relena, just don't make me hold your hand and give you baby steps, it'll be a quick visit..'' And without any delay the monochrome snagged a coat, her expression as serious as ever, she was a girl with eternal body language. Closing the door shut and locking it indicated she didn't dare to trust the students in this building enough to even have a simple dorm room unlocked. Risaka gazed down at Relena for a quick moment and put her hands inside of her coat's pockets. ''It better be close, I don't like the chilly days..'' She gave a shudder just of the thought of walking outside and feeling the cold pinching breezes, she had just turned on her heater inside of her room.
''When we arrive we find the damn book and then leave, nothing else, I don't want people think I am with someone, ugh..'' Now that Risaka thinks about it, she has never in her life shared a cup of coffee or meal with someone on the same table, ever. |

❝You're showing me colours of the sky, But all I see is Grey❞ 461 w. kenjutsu-f | reinforcement-f | radiant dawn-e Relena didn't know why, but she got the distinct impression that Risaka would make a good mother. A doting and angry one who would always yell at her children for not doing their homework or going to bed on time. The thought actually caused her to inadvertently snicker, but she quickly covered it up with a fake cough. The last thing that she needed was for the larger girl to be cross with her.
She was already prepared for Risaka to yell at her and call her an idiot. It was obvious from the way she glared at Relena but, to her surprise, Risaka's temperament was quite tame. Perhaps my imagination is far more active than I give it credit for. Go figure.
What was even more of a shock to the smaller blonde was that her offer was accepted. The monochrome girl was actually willing to go with her into town! Relena's delight was evident from the smile on her face, which she sheepishly tilted her head to avoid eye contact with her escort.
Which, now that she saw the jacket, Relena realized that she hadn't brought one! Though the trip wouldn't be too far away, it was cold out. Ultimately, the girl decided against the notion and walked side by side with Risaka out of the girls' dormitories.
"Tis but a hop and a skip to Uncle's house...er, forgive me. He says many an expression and, at times, they can get caught in my every day speech."
The path to Relena's house was indeed a straight forward one. The two would simply have to cut through the shopping district and swerve through a couple of sharp alleys before reaching a humble neighborhood of houses in serious disrepair. Relena passed by a man resting against a brick wall and reached into her skirt pocket, producing a handful of yen. She dropped it into the hat next to him and the man waved enthusiastically.
"Thank ye, Relena. Say hi to Uncle fer me." He slurred.
Relena just nodded kindly at him before shrugging helplessly at Risaka. The next building down didn't have a door per se, but a tattered blanket that covered a person sized opening. The girl knocked on the side of the frame before calling out.
"Auntie! Uncle! Tis a right proper time? I bring a guest in need of your assistance!"
She regarded the black and white girl with a warm smile. "Trust me, if anyone in this whole city knows of your lost book, it is Uncle. Just be forewarned, he can be a tad eccentric."
Relena grabbed hold of the torn fabric and held it up to allow passage. With her other hand, she held it over her chest in an almost butler-like salute. "After you."

RISAKA REINACHTU.A Student / Miss Gray
''Everyday I ask myself if I even should bother'' words 628 • tagged @ • notes | 'A hop and a skip'? Risaka mentally shuck her head with disagreement, anywhere outside of school was never just a small skip. Even to the small kiosk outside of school felt like an amazing lenght for the monochrome girl. Her knee reaching coat flapped a bit back when they both began to leave the dormitories, who would've thought that this gray girl would walk out -with- someone for a change? Risaka didn't try to pay too much mind to it, it was just a small stroll, she trusted the blonde girl afterall. Even if that trust was very small, for Risaka it was a big deal.
Once they actually stepped out into the cold Risaka silently grunted from the sudden cold striking at her face. 'This fucking weather...' she thought to herself. She was more annoyed by the fact the blondie didn't bother to put any thick jacket on, even if the trip was just a ''skip''. Risaka raised the torso of her coat up to cover the lower part of her face, her eyes only giving off the negativity that many doesn't take any liking to, even some people on the street to the book shop gave off weird stares at her. She tried her best not to let their stares get to her, but the further they ventured down on the street the grimmer her expression got. It almost looked like she was about to pop a few knuckles on the very next weird look she gets.
Luckily for the public and herself, Relena got her attention to the man with the hat on the ground. Homeless obviously and not a very delightful sight, at very least he didn't get the weird looks. Even if Risaka wanted to donate some she couldn't, she didn't bother bringing actual cash and she wasn't the kind to put trust on those who are in the street. Such a naive girl, showing such kindness to only recieve nothing back other than self satisfaction. But Risaka wasn't gonna try to lecture the blonde girl how people in the street use the donated money on worse things.
Wait.
Risaka blinked and turned around and looked to her surroundings. Such a tragic looking neighbourhood! For a quick moment the monochrome girl thought Relena made them both get lost in the unsightly suburbs. But Relena looked too bright to make such mistake, Risaka sharpened her stare at the blondie and crossed her arms while walking right behind. ''This doesn't look right... I didn't even know this district was here at all, and ... this close to the school.'' Simply nodding to herself she made a mental promise to never visit her again, especially during winter. But as soon they arrived to the so called book shop Risaka could only blink in pure disbelief. What was this rack of a shack? This place looked nothing like a trusty book shop! Risaka has been in many shops in her lifetime, both bad and very fancy, but she never thought this kind was even able to exist. ''Not even a door... what in the world..'' Simply speaking to herself Risaka sighed in defeat. They have already walked all the way to here, might aswell check it out right? She stepped in when the cloth was dragged to the side, of course the cold winter couldn't be stopped by a rag alone. Brushing her arms she gave of a freezing expression. ''Ugh, your uncle better be the Book Master or something similar, as long my desired book is in here somewhere...'' She observed the insides of the building, her monochrome figure standing out as always with her breath being visible in the air due to the cold. Oh how she already missed her bed back at the hero school. |

❝You're showing me colours of the sky, But all I see is Grey❞ 621 w. kenjutsu-f | reinforcement-f | radiant dawn-e As Risaka entered the humble house, Relena followed behind her into the living room. Although it was small, the room was immaculate with not a trace of dust or stain to be seen. Sitting off in a corner was Relena's Auntie who was busy with one of her canvases. Looking up from her painting, the older woman gave the two girls a warm smile as she stood up from the project.
"Oh, Relena dear! How wonderful of you to stop by. And look here, you have brought a friend? I didn't know you had those." She chuckled at that last bit.
Relena lightly smacked the top of her head, shaking it while mimicking the smile. "Yare yare dawa. Please don't tease, Auntie. Have you seen Uncle?"
She nodded as she wiped her hands on her jeans. "Why yes I have. He's in the back study. I'll go ahead and make you all some tea, so go on ahead." As the the would go past, Aunti would pat Risaka gently on the shoulder. "Please make yourself at home, sweetie. It isn't often for Relena to bring any company, so thank you for humoring her."
Relena chose to ignore the comment, slightly puffing her cheeks out in mild annoyance at the teasing. She led Risaka into a hallway that led toward a single red draped entryway at the end. "My apologies. Auntie has a strange sense of humor. Thankfully, it is fairly tame today. Anyways..."
She pulled back the curtain and stepped into the study. It was slightly larger than the living room and arguably the only large room in the modest dwelling. All four corners were lined with book shelves from floor to ceiling with a single table in the center. Four metal chairs were pushed in, resting on a fur carpet. An old man was pacing back and forth in the warm lighting of the cheap lamps that extended from the walls and makeshift ceiling fan/light that looked like it threatened to fall from the drywall at any minute!
The man himself wore a long black robe that dragged along the floor behind him as he continued to pace, holding a large brown tome in his hand while stroking his long, thin white beard with the other. His bushy brows furrowed in concentration as he was preoccupied with reading the passages and hadn't even noticed the girls enter the study.
Relena coughed in her hand to get his attention. "Excuse me, Uncle. Please pardon the intrusion. I-woah!"
The man, without any preamble, threw the book at Relena. She snatched the book with her right hand just centimeters before it would have collided with her face. She gave a cocky grin to him as he approached her.
"I'm getting better, old codger. What were you-OW!"
He slammed a fist down on the top of her head and swiped the book angrily from Relena's grasp. "Idiot! Use your honorifics when addressing me! To think you were raised in Japan! Disrespectful children belong in lesser countries such as America."
Relena rubbed at her head, but bowed to the elder. "Yes, Uncle-Sama. Forgive me."
Uncle simply grunted. "Next time use your weaker hand. You will never grow if you don't challenge yourself. Now, what brings you here...and with a guest I do not recognize."
"Ah, yes of course. This is Risaka-san and she is a fellow student at UA. We had an altercation and the end result was my ruining a precious book of hers. I was-"
Uncle clonked her on the head again with an annoyed expression before turning to stand before Risaka. "Risaka-san, please forgive my idiot child's lack of manners." He bowed before the monochrome girl. "Please, allow me to make it up to you. What book do you seek? I more than likely possess it."

RISAKA REINACHTU.A Student / Miss Gray
''Everyday I ask myself if I even should bother'' words 734 • tagged @ • notes | Risaka tugged her neckcollar closer to her jawline, giving a bit of a cold reaction to the whole room being so silent and open with the outside. And as a surprise there was an old granny in the corner. Completely caught off guard Risaka blinked at the old lady, not saying anything, Risaka might be a girl with rough edges, but she knew how fragile elders are, so no need for rough introductions. ''Risaka, my name is Risaka..'' Shrugging to the old lady, the gray lass clearly understood the humor behind those words, but still not taking it lightly like the grumpy girl she is. ''And I'm not her frie-'' With barely any time to spare Risaka was forced to go further into the house. ''Oh what a joy, here I thought I could just pick the book and go..'' She stared at the short blonde with her unamused pair of pale eyes, feeling a tad bit annoyed from the very joyish attitude she's giving. ''Uhuh, yeah I get it, whatever, she doesn't bother me, I'm just here for my book..''
Once the red fabric got pushed to the side Risaka actually admired for a moment the interior and overall touch of design to this room, it did have that relaxing feeling for a good spot for readers like her. ''Huh, this house actually got a half decent room, guess I judged too early.'' The man in the room looked pretty wise, certainly someone who knew their books, however Risaka wasn't convinced this man had the book. But that thought quickly became irrelevant when she saw that book sorar through the air. Risaka almost attempted to catch it herself since it was going right at Relena, but with a surprise the small blonde had her own honed reflex. ''Geez, what kind of uncle is this..'' Risaka huffed out annoyed, how much more silliness did she have to go through until she got her book? Crossing her arms and stared into the space of the room as the uncle walked up to the cocky blonde, hearing the fist smack against her. ''Yep, that's what cockiness gives you, a knuckle to the head.'' She didn't react to the second hit after Relena mentioned the incident. Not reacting this time to it, dropping her head down with a sigh. ''You can catch a damn flying book but not predict two knuckle sandwiches, you silly girl...''
Risaka appreciated the geezer's traditional manners, strict and on point, even able to discipline cocky girls such as Relena. Her shoulders hunched with her arms dropping from her front, turning towards him with her dead bored eyes. ''Eehm, it's fine mister, it's been a week since so it doesn't bother me as much, although I wish she could start use some boxes or something instead of jumping against shelves... But right, the book.'' She stepped towards the table, from her large pocket she pulled out a bunch of sheets, all hand written. ''Since the one I had was completely ruined I took the time to rewrite the first 32 pages from the book, I took many notes of it so it should suffice. It's name is Cries Only For The Wicked, a novel by a russian war criminal that sought redemption in his many years after the world war two. Simply put, it's a very specific novel among the endless amount of diary based books out there, biggest problem is that the author himself is unknown due to his name never being mentioned in the book. The book is very limited as far I can tell, not a single trace of it on the popular websites nor sold anywhere. If you happen to know such book do tell, I found it's story and genuine writing realistic.'' She flipped among the pages from the handwritten papers, locating a specific page informing about a very peculiar incident. ''However, in page 14 it was already mentioned he lived in a nothern town in his childhood, a town named Ramayk, and according to the Wiki pages it was said that a library was looted from that town around 1987, it's my only safe bet to say the least, that this book heist also included a minor production of this book of his, since he started his writing in his hometown.'' |

❝You're showing me colours of the sky, But all I see is Grey❞ 920 w. kenjutsu-f | reinforcement-f | radiant dawn-e While Relena was busy rubbing the pain away, Uncle simply got straight to the point. He stroked his beard thoughtfully as he listened to Risaka recount her plight regarding the book. He was actually quite impressed at her diligence in not only seeking to read the tome, but write down its contents. Quite remarkable for one so young...unlike his idiot niece.
The old man gingerly lifted a page from the table to study it. After a few moments, he performed the same action with the subsequent pages that had been laid out before him. A grumble escaped his gnarled lips as his bushy brows came together in deep contemplation. After several minutes went by of complete silence, Uncle set the pages down.
"Young Miss, to study such a tale..."
He halted his speech and just chuckled in a sardonic manner, shaking his head. "No no. Pay me no heed. A thought had simply surfaced that I do not wish to share."
Relena took a step forward and put her hand on his shoulder with a look of genuine concern on her face. "Are you well, my Uncle?"
The usually eccentric man simply gave Relena a polite grin and nodded. "Oh yes. My apologies, my dear. This book...while the story holds no particular attachment, the object itself means a great deal to me."
He pointed to a shelf toward the back of the room. "Top shelf, row 3. Number 4. The faded one, Relena-chan."
The blonde girl just nodded and complied with his request, taking to the ladder and ascending her way to the designated section. As she reached out for the book, she immediately noticed that it's material was different from most. It seemed so fragile that merely touching it would turn it to dust!
She turned to regard her elder who was shuffling over to his chair to produce a small wooden box. As Relena came down the ladder, Uncle set the box down and opened it by the hinges. They sealed the book safely inside the box and shut it gently. Uncle looked up at Risaka with a gleam in his eye.
"I never fully translated it...Cries Only For the Wicked. It hurt too much and my old heart could not take the strain. So please, Risaka-san, if you will. When you have finished with the translation, I would be deeply indebted if you would have Relena-chan here deliver a separate manuscript."
Relena could tell that there was a deeper meaning to this. Some old Russian story about a war criminal? And from 1987? The story would have nothing to do with her Uncle, but perhaps the item itself held some personal ties to him. But what did he mean by...'could not take the strain?' The girl didn't understand and she was sure that she never would.
Before Relena could speak up, Uncle's mood snapped back to his usual self and he let out a wheezing chuckle. "Alright, you two. That's enough from this 'old coger' as you called me, eh?"
Relena lowered her head and blushed, but Uncle just laughed it off. "Go on! Get the hell out of my library so I can be at peace!"
She bowed to her mentor and began to lead Risaka out when the man called one final time. "And Relena-chan?"
The girl turned back to the man. "Yes sensei?"
"Next time bring some God Damn Cake! You freeloader!"
Relena just released a quick, exasperated sigh in the man's direction as she spun around on the balls of her heels to lead Risaka out of the room. Auntie gave them a polite wave farewell, to which Relena also waved back happily.
Out in the cool air, she smiled at how nice it felt. While she loved the warm embrace of the sun upon her skin, Relena also deeply appreciated the slight nip of the cold. But, then it dawned on her that the wind chill was picking up. They had been in the library for some time and the weather had turned slightly for the worse. She hugged herself to stave off the cold, which didn't do any good, and lightly hopped in place.
"Oh dear, it has gotten quite cold out. Perhaps I should have brought a jacket."
But it wasn't like she could complain too much. After all, she had been successful in helping Risaka retrieve her book and she only had sustained minor damage. Everyone won in the end...so why did she feel such melancholy from her Uncle? It would be a discussion for another time.
Relena turned to regard the monochrome girl with the newly acquired book. She gave her a somber smile as she continued to grip herself against the cold. "Well then, mission accomplished."
She threw her hand up to present a weak thumbs up as vapor expelled from her mouth. "So I guess I'll show you the way out of these slums and we can head back to school, eh? I'm sorry for everything that happened. If it's any consolation, I-"
Her stomach let out a loud, rude rumble that interrupted both her speech and thought pattern. Her eyes widened in embarrassment and she laughed it off nonchalantly.
"Oh, I suppose I forgot to eat today. Hm...I wonder if the cafeteria is still open. Then again, we'll be passing by the shopping district on the way back."
But then Relena recalled how adamant Risaka was on strictly getting the book and heading back. Which made the blonde feel a tad depressed herself as she hung her head, hearing her stomach growl again as she shivered in the cold.
"Let's just...get going, Risaka-san." She said in an uncharacteristic deadpan tone.

''Everyday I ask myself if I even should bother'' words 825 • tagged @ • notes | Risaka was caught off guard when hearing the old man's response to her research, she honestly expected a full on dead end, but when those words of familiarity entered her ears she perked her eyes and looked at his husk of an appearance. An old man that was also the classic stereotypical wise guy, he knew his books, that's for certain. Risaka did not attempt to speak back, but simply letting him do his part of the deal, the deal between her and Relena at least. She held her arms crossed while watching Relena do the delivery, an old case with an even older object inside. She caught a glimpse of the cover and the familiar red edges, it didn't take much for the monochrome lass to confirm this was indeed that book. She looked back at the old man, on the verge of breaking her cold character with her amazed eyes. ''I-uh, I..'' She had a desire to ask just what he meant, but there was no time for maze walking, with the rest of the book she can finally explore story to it's fullest, how this russian war veteran experienced true hell. ''Good thing I didn't just forget about the book, looks like I will be going on an adventure through these pages.''
She held this ancient looking book with a firm grip, but not too hard, she felt this copy was extra fragile, and that alltogether made it more precious. Translating all the pages will take some time, but Risaka felt certain she can sweep through it, and if she's lucky she will find more outside the book through other sources. ''Thank you, I will make sure to deliver it back with all the notes, and I will do it in a secure place such as my room.'' It was rare for Risaka to show kindness in this manner, it's not like she sees elders as automatically respectable, considering the life she has lived so far, but Relena's uncle was someone truly she could see hard work behind his eyes, and how much this small library meant. ''And time to go, about time really, I need to get this book studied asap, and hopefully blondie can be my delivery lady once I am done.'' Thinking with her lone thoughts she was escorted out of the room along with Relena, and before she knew it the blonde lass had her mouth open already with too many words to spare. ''I...I thought it was obvious to bring a jacket along...'' Risaka spoke and tugged her coat, the book safely against her side under the coat to not let the cold potentially harm the texture of the book's surface. ''Yeah, I guess it's 'mission accomplished', a mission made by clumsiness.'' Risaka gave a very brief second of angry aura from her gloomy expression, just thinking back when Relena knocked that entire bookshelf somehow still haunts the monochrome lass.
Risaka was just as ready as Relena to head back out to the slums to only walk even more just to get back to school, only that Relena's stomach began to grumble, it made Risaka halt her foot, with one awkward face. ''..You haven't eaten all day or something?'' Risaka didn't wanna comment vocally, but she looked down at Relena with unamused eyes, because it was very clear what was about to be said. ''Here we go, she's gonna ask about a damn food place for us both to eat in, she takes my time very granted..'' By just simply standing idly while Relena talked away about the options for food and drinks Risaka gave out a rather silent huff, just waiting for the blondie to finish her talking and get moving. But to Risaka's surprise the blondie turned defeated by default. The monochrome girl raised a brow from the sudden negative attitude, talk about a bi polar personality. But those rumbles were loud, loud enough to make Risaka think about food herself, which honestly made her aggravated. ''Hhhhhhg... this is why I don't encourage myself to go with people, sidetracking from left to right.'' But alas Risaka acknowledged Relena's small amount worth of humbleness, Risaka didn't believe at first that Relena thought for others.
''Tsk, stop with the premature depressive attitude, not even I can pull such, and I feel like for a cup of coffee anyway, so you're in luck blondie. But then you gotta pick the place with best ratings, and only that, got it?'' Risaka felt not herself from telling Relena her offer, she coughed once to break the tension and faced to the exit with her hands in her large pockets. ''You did afterall go as far approaching me about the book when I was on the verge of forgetting it, this is the least I can do, one hour is all I can spare..'' |

❝You're showing me colours of the sky, But all I see is Grey❞ 836 w. kenjutsu-f | reinforcement-f | radiant dawn-e As Relena took a step forward to walk past Risaka, she immediately stopped in her tracks. Her brows furrowed and she slowly tilted her head to face the gray girl. She had already set her mind on raiding her fridge for leftovers, groaning internally at the thought of cold noodles and ginger ale. The mere thought was enough to make her empty stomach churn in agony.
But...did she hear correctly? Relena's eyes widened ever so slightly as she stood stick still while listening to Risaka's account. It was fair to say that Relena was behaving a bit sardonic, but she chocked it up to lack of food. The blonde continued to hold herself as she nodded, now with far more enthusiasm and a warm smile on her face.
"O-Okay! Yes, I think I know the perfect little café on the corner of the shopping district called Barnie's! I'm friends with the owners and they make the best coffee!"
The girl arced her body in the direction of the shopping district and began to lead the way toward the café. One hour. She had to make one hour count. "Keichi-sama, the pastry chef, makes the cutest little cakes with tiny blue ribbons on it."
Relena ran her hand through her hair and gently lifted up the ribbon that held her mass of blonde hair together. "He started adding the ribbons in after I frequented the place quite often and he even named them Relena rolls...although they aren't rolls." She tapped her chin curiously. "Heh..."
So much had happened since joining UA...she hadn't even found the time to visit Barnie's. It was an awful travesty and one that she was happy to rectify. "It should only be a hop and a skip away. Er, sorry that's a phrase we coin around here. Um...a block at the most, I'm sure."
And yet, as she walked, Relena's gaze drifted to the decrepit book in Risaka's grasp. Just what was so special about it? Why had Uncle, who seemed hesitant at first, given it up? It couldn't be mere curiosity over the tale, could it? No, but I trust Uncle. He has his reasons and he shall tell me when he is good and ready. Quite right. Right?
She veered one last corner with Risaka and came upon the brightly lit avenue of the shopping district. She had always cherished her time in this particular venue of Musutafu! No matter her mood, the myriad of colors and amazing smells always perked her up. But then, when she regarded Risaka, she saw how the taller girl's ashen figure was accented by the kaleidoscopic scenery.
Relena just tilted her head and smiled at her traveling companion while approaching the building at the very corner of the street. It was a quaint little café with a cobalt blue awning hanging firmly over the entrance. Several cushioned chairs were arranged along the small boulevard accompanied by glass accented tables for customers to enjoy the peaceful bliss of the night time breeze.
The door to Barnie's was already propped open by a small aluminum doorstop to provide a welcoming atmosphere and Relena happily stepped inside. She was greeted by a soft blast of warmth from the gurgling coffee makers and aroma of the multitude of coffees. Standing before a glass counter that was neatly stocked with various pastries was a kindly old man with a bushy white beard and squared wire glasses.
"Santa!" Relena exclaimed, throwing her body over the glass case.
The man bellowed a hearty, guttural laugh and wrapped the small girl in his great big arms. "Oh ho ho! Why if it isn't Relena! I haven't seen you in months! Too busy saving the day to come visit a weary old brew master?"
Relena just giggled happily, being released from the grasp and sliding down the case until she plopped back to the ground. "My sincerest apologies! But I'm here now! Oh Santa! I hope it's alright that I brought a friend."
She winced at the word, turning to regard Risaka with an apologetic look. "Oh, I mean um...well, Risaka-san this is Mr. Barney but everyone just calls him Santa for obvious reasons."
Santa crossed his arms over his barrel of a chest and bobbed his head up and down. "Well, any friend of Relena's is certainly welcome in Barney's Coffee and Cake Emporium. In fact, I didn't even know she had friends."
Relena tapped her foot, breathing out a sigh as she rubbed at her neck. But Santa quickly dismissed the gesture by moving toward a large canister of coffee beans.
"I already know your usual, sweet heart. I'll even throw in a couple slices of Relena rolls, just like old times. But Ms. Risaka, what can I get you?"
The blonde shook her head in amusement that Santa had still kept the ridiculous name. They weren't even rolls, but she couldn't help but smile at how jolly the man was. She looked over at Risaka and gestured to the coffee canisters on display, clearly labeled in bold black lettering.
"Like I said, Barnie's is the best. Take a look!"
