APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY
Appearance: Disukodo Arisu's usual appearance and clothing are all tailored to try to step past the faint gloom and chill that follow her around. As a result of her quirk, there's a gentle shade and cooling effect that occur nearby, which- when she isn't actively trying to make sure she gives off a perky, energetic vibe- can leave her seeming particularly gloomy to those not quite aware of why she seems to sit in shadows all the time. She keeps her blue-black hair in barettes and pins so it always looks done up- she takes pains to keep her clothing, which trends towards bright colors and approachable styles, and herself as close to spotless as she can. Everything she can do to present herself, from the dark blue of her eyes to the very tips of her sneakers, as on top of things, she does. The last thing she wants is for her natural bubbly attitude to get swallowed up like the bits of light her quirk steals from her surroundings.

Personality: Arisu is very aware that she's in constant danger of coming off gloomy due to the side effects of her quirk- as such, much of her focus is simply on mitigating that detail entirely. She puts a lot of effort into being cheerful and friendly, as bright and bubbly as she can. Despite all this, though, she is deeply competitive, and has a thorough delight in the sheer glory of victory. This also devolves into a tendency to get rapidly frustrated if set in a poor match-up in a competition, or just being pitted against someone much better or stronger than she is. She isn't the sort to give up, but is prove to getting mouthy and whiny when stuck in what she feels is an "unfair" situation- I.E. one where she doesn't have a natural edge.
At the end of the day, while Arisu is absolutely devoted to trying to prove herself to be just as amazing as she thinks she is, she's very self-conscious, and failures impact her mood and ego hard, especially if they're public. She tries very hard to always win and look happy doing it- but that doesn't always work out so well. When her facade falls through, she can be very morose, falling into the gloom of her quirk and withdrawing from those around her, presuming them all to be as disappointed in her as she is. This is rarely the case, but she certainly doesn't see it that way.
Arisu is a fierce friend for all her faults, and she has a short enough temper to get herself in trouble defending her friends from perceived persecution or injustice. She tries to be clever about it, but that isn't always something she can successfully manage- but being caught is a price she's willing to pay.

HISTORY
Arisu's family life was relatively unremarkable. She didn't grow up with parents pushing her beyond her means, but rather a father who loved to encourage her competitive side as much as she loved to indulge it. Her mother was always a bit distant- not that she didn't love her daughter, but she was, in truth, a little envious of the natural bond between father and daughter, and couldn't quite overcome her irritation to develop a close relationship herself, preferring to watch them from afar and enjoy their interactions vicariously.
That isn't to say that it's all been roses and rainbows. While perhaps not the most notable quirk, for a long time, it seemed that Arisu's quirk only extended to keeping her shrouded in shade and cold all the time. The slow dispersal of her quirk's gas constantly converted portions of the light and heat around her into wisps of plasma too short-lived and weak to even be visible. Being both easily noticeable and seemingly useless, she was the victim of a lot of teasing and bullying growing up, from adults and children alike. She resented it, of course, and got sent home more than once for leaping at a bully and starting physical fights over insults that were too much for her fragile ego to handle. It wasn't until her family attended a bonfire around her eighth birthday that she finally got a hint as to precisely what it was she could do, scooping up handfuls of the bonfire and bouncing the odd, dark flames that resulted from hand to hand much to the terror of her parents.
Once the true nature of her quirk came to light, Arisu became absolutely determined to do something with it. Originally planning to simply dive headfirst into vigilantism, it was the opening of hero academies that offered both legitimate licensing and training to manage and enhance their use of their quirk that gave her parents something resembling a safe path to the greatness their daughter craved.
