APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY
Appearance:
Nessa is a petite woman with a slender build that matches her height. Though her hair is long enough to reach down her back, it is almost always bound by a ribbon or braided in a way that cuts down on its length, making it reach no further than Nessa's nape. Platnium blonde in colour, it can sometimes be mistaken for being completely white.
Nessa's facial features are a somewhat interesting mix, as her face is largely defined by soft yet firm lines, giving her what should be a calm and composed expression. However, the lines of Nessa's mouth and her eyes are remarkably sharp. With those two features also being her most expressive ones, they almost completely offset the serene appearance she would otherwise have. When that sharpness is combined with Nessa's general demeanor, it results in her being practically unable to wear an expression which is not intense. Whether it's a smile, a scornful look or anything in between, Nessa's natural features will grant it an almost piercing quality.
While her body is by no means muscular our broad, Nessa's overall shape can be described as athletic, though one would not be able to guess when her figure is obscured by clothes. That holds especially true because Nessa prefers wearing all manner of dresses and gowns, practically never slipping into anything that shows off the outline of her body in its entirety. This choice of attire carries over into her life as a villain as well, or rather it would be appropriate to say that Nessa does not draw a line between "casual clothes" and what she wears as a villain, treating the two as one and the same. Perhaps the biggest difference and oddity when it comes to her wardrobe is the fact that she likes to attempt and incorporate armor pieces into it, often combining dresses with plate or chain-mail. Nessa's standard outfit consists of a single black gown, almost completely covering her skin safe for a part of her chest. The dress even has a choker integrated into it, meaning that her neck is usually covered as well. Besides the dress she wears a wide variety of boots, and may sometimes slip on a jacket or coat over the dress if the weather calls for it. When it comes to accessories, it is not unusual to see her wearing a belt with a sword sheath attached to it as well as an assortment of ribbons to tie her hair together.

Personality:
Nessa can be seen as a woman who was born in the wrong century. Though her upbringing and apparent love of gowns and dresses may lead one to believe that she has a taste for the finer things in life and all the lavish luxuries the modern age can provide, Nessa prefers to live an almost spartan lifestyle. She rarely acts wasteful and thinks little of hoarding wealth of any kind. Even her abodes tend to be remarkably barren, rarely exceeding more than one or two pieces of furniture, a fridge and wardrobe. One small exception to her life of austerity is food and drink, for which she will both gladly spend more and indulge in more freely than the average person might.
At a glance it would seem that she is particularly adverse to using modern technology, however Nessa does not truly have any sort of dislike for it. She acknowledges the usefulness of technology and will gladly make use of it when appropriate. What makes it seem like she is avoiding it however is the fact that many of the devices made with entertainment in mind barely hold her attention. As such television, smart phones or high-end computers all tend to be things she has little interest for. On the other end of the spectrum is the reverence she holds for hand-crafted and unique items. Whether it's jewelry or weapons, Nessa has a deep admiration both for the beauty of such objects as well as the skill and craftsmanship that's behind them.
While her upbringing has resulted in her speaking in a calm tone and carrying herself in a solemn manner, those characteristics lie in direct opposition to Nessa's emotional profile. Nessa is a being of passion in every sense of the word. Her sadness is anguish. Her love is a deep and intense one. Her wrath scalding and unforgiving. She is capable of taking all her emotions to an extreme. Though she isn't necessarily unstable, she does appear fickle and moody at times, which is only compounded by the intensity her feelings can reach. She also happily wears her heart on her sleeve, making no attempt to hide or mask her emotions, lacking both the ability and wish to do so. This also makes her both sincere and blunt in equal measure. Nessa is not one to sugar coat her words or use euphemisms. Her intense passion of hers also translates into her hobbies. Above all is battle, the driving force behind Nessa's actions. She revels in all forms of combat. Though duels are her favourite, she isn't opposed to any other sort of melee either. This competitive spirit extends beyond just martial prowess however, and Nessa will happily test her skill, strength and even luck or similar qualities against others. Though duels to the death is what she tends to default to, non-lethal sparring is also acceptable. She is even willing to engage in wagers and bets if the proposition is interesting enough. Even more mundane hobbies she might pursue, such as reading or cooking are given a level of care and attention that reflects Nessa's love for the things she does.
Though Nessa doesn't care much for labels one way or another, she has no qualms about admitting that she is a villain. She understands that's how the public and others see her and she sees to reason to argue against that consensus. In part it is her upbringing, but also her own twisted values that push her towards villainy and her dedication to her way of life makes it so there's little room for discussion when it comes to that. Though a villain, Nessa is not without principles and morals. In her childhood, what Nessa held onto more than anything else were the stories that offered her a window into a different world. Knights of matter of Britain and the heroes of Greek myth were Nessa's idols. Each and every one of them flawed, far removed from what the modern interpretation of a "hero" would be. But for Nessa it made no difference. She recognized and admired these figures for their strength and for the grand deeds they performed, not the purity of their moral character.
Nessa sees herself and her own ideals in a similar light. Though she places a great amount of importance into the idea of honour, many of the more modern and humane virtues are foreign to her. So while the idea of using deceit or ambush tactics would never cross her mind, she also has little inhibition when it comes to killing an opponent, wounded or otherwise. As twisted as her principles are, one can rely on her to adhere to them. Besides the moral dilemmas that can produce, it can also make her come off as somewhat eccentric as Nessa is the type of person who can sit down to share a drink and a laugh with her enemy, even if she knows that they could end up in a duel to the death the next day. This is only made more complicated by the fact that Nessa thinks nothing of the division between heroes, villains and vigilantes, much rather preferring to categorize individuals by whether she personally likes them or not. One of the more admirable aspects of Nessa's character is that she lets no debt go unpaid. Any kindness done to her will be acknowledged and reciprocated. The same holds true for any perceived slight inflicted upon her, meaning that Nessa can be rather vindictive and capable of holding a grudge for long periods of time. She is someone who will not cause unnecessary suffering to bystanders with no cause, but she is also someone who will display uncaring callousness when confronted with the suffering of others. Her lack of sympathy can almost be seen as a form of Social Darwinism, as she takes the plight of the weak as a matter of fact, even if she herself doesn't bother to enforce it.
In the end Nessa is a woman of extremes. She outright rejects some concepts and values, while wholly embracing others with little middle ground left between the two.

HISTORY
Nessa had been born into what should have been a happy, well-off English family. Should have been. The truth of the matter was that Nessa's parents were far from happy, and Nessa's birth could not change that, as loved as she was by them. The Redpaths had been a family with strong ties to nobility. Along with those ties they had also amassed a small fortune and had several estates to their name. But those things were not to last. A string of bad business decisions, as well as several high-profile scandals had left the family with little money to their name, and even fewer friends in influential circles. Though the family had been on a decline for generations, it was when Nessa's parents hadn't managed to turn it around for the better part of their lives that it became clear that there was no hope left for the family to remain in the upper echelons of society. No estates left, no companies to generate revenue and no plots of land to make use of. The dwindling funds of the family were being burned up rapidly to keep up the appearance of wealth, rather than to try and work towards solutions. Servants were hired, expensive and lavish parties were thrown. Nessa most of all was made to feel as if she was part of the nobility. The girl spent her early childhood fully convinced that her family was a rich and powerful one, without reason for a single worry to assail them. For all the troubles, all the issues and carelessness her parents displayed, they did love their daughter. Of course, it was only a matter of time before the charade came crashing down.
Hopelessness breeds desperation. Nessa's father had been in contact with a clandestine group for some years, but could never bring himself to act on the offers he received regularly, as the shred of decency he had left in him prevented him from doing so. But as the end was nigh and there was no hope of him or his wife getting a job, let along continuing the life they had grown accustomed to, he became involved with the group he had managed to refuse for so long. Simply calling themselves "The Crowns", it was a closely-knit club, consisting of all manner of nobility. It was impossible to ignore however that a majority of the people present had suffered a fate similar to the Redpaths. A fall from grace. Though individual opinions and personal aspirations varied, the common goal all members shared was the return of aristocracy. Those with a good standing wanted to amass even more power, while others such as the Redpaths simply wanted to restore what had been lost. Though the club had existed for some time, it barely had any members over the decades. What had caused a change and a nominal surge in popularity was the advent of quirks. Now there was more that could be tied to their claim of superiority. If they had quirks, and a genealogy to prove the importance of their bloodline, it would only strengthen their claims. It was naive to think it would be that easy, but many saw quirks as a legitimate method of confirming the inherent superiority of some families over others. Although Nessa's parents did not have quirks of their, the contributions they made using the last of their funds is what allowed them entry. What ensured they'd stay in the club's good graces was Nessa. Unlike her parents she had been born with a quirk, a rather dazzling and regal one at that. It wasn't just her quirk however, from her appearances to her manners and education, Nessa stood out, head and shoulder above the other families' children. One of the things her parents had made sure of, was to give Nessa a top notch education from early on and it showed. This was only helped by Nessa's own competitive nature and her love from the classics of Greek and European literature. Not long after she began regularly attending club meetings, did she become a darling of the noble families. First it was simply the adults taking note of her, but it quickly started becoming something much more. Arranged marriages became a common topic at the meetings and Nessa found herself at the center of those discussions more often than not. Though it was usual for the children to spend their time playing with and getting to know their peers while adults did the talking, Nessa was the exception who found herself dragged away from games and into the circle of adults.
Though it was somewhat different from the childhood she had gotten used, Nessa did not mind the responsibilities, expectations and chores that were being pushed onto her. Ever since her family had joined the club, she had had more friends to talk with, kids who were a lot like her. She also had access to the collective library, with books donated by all the families which was a joy all on its own. Most of all however, the meetings themselves, the talk about nobility, aristocracy and usurpation intrigued her. It reminded her of the classics she used to read growing up and she found herself strangely drawn in by the ideas discussed within the club. As Nessa showed herself more and more to be capable and a perfect fit for the aspirations of the nobles, the true cost for her family made itself apparent. It happened bit by bit, with practically no money left and with no quirks, Nessa's parents were slowly being pushed out of the inner circle. The Redpaths were not particularly alarmed, believing the popularity of their daughter to be their insurance. Sadly for them, most of the other nobles did not seem them and Nessa as a package deal. And so, as the club continued trying to establish itself, Nessa's parents were invited less and less to the meetings, while Nessa herself never missed one. They were still technically part of the club, but they couldn't help but notice that their daughter was practically being taken away from them. The seeds they had planted with Nessa's education and the care they provided to her were now being tended to by the club. They saw Nessa as more than just a member. She was their prodigy. Their scion. If they were going to make a move, then she would lead them. Nessa's education was dramatically expanded during that time, covering a wider variety of topics. The one which got the most focus however was swordsmanship. As obsolete as it may seem, the club saw it as a symbol of their legacy, an art to rally behind and to call uniquely theirs and to represent the movement as a whole. To no surprise of the club members, Nessa took exceptionally well to the teachings just as she had done before. Though she usually took to her studies to prove herself and impress, the sword quickly became dear to her heart all on its own, to the point that she did not see it as an obligation but a passion.
During her stay at the club Nessa had never abandoned her own interests. She still read the books she had been reading since she was little and slowly those same books coloured her experiences at the club more and more. The core ideas, the goal of the members she did not reject but their methods and attitudes she grew more and more tired of. After all, year after year passed, yet all that she ever got was words. Grand speeches, assertions, threats, plots, schemes and plans. But nothing was ever done. For all their bravado, each and every one of them seemed like cowards to her. It was an ideological split the nobility could not predict or guard against. They wanted power and status. But that was all they wanted. Once they got their status from centuries ago recognized again, they were perfectly fine with return to a mundane life. Nessa was different. She wanted to to be on the ground. She wanted to act. The burden of a vassal or knight to serve his king was no burden in her mind, but an opportunity. She wanted to be locked in a duel to the death with someone. She wanted to fall violently in love. And she wanted to emulate the heroes of old. Great figures who towered above all others and imposed their will without fault. Beings who went beyond the mere classification of "human". The nobles were perfectly fine with letting Nessa take a leading role and be their literal and figurative sword. What they did not understand was that she did not look at their aspirations as favourably.
What caused the collapse of the club in the end was not a schism between Nessa and the other members, but rather then march of time. Quirks had become more and more commonplace, to the point where it was more common than not to see children with Quirks walking down the street. The pretense under which the society of nobles had been revitalized faded away. Many gave up and left outright. Some still clung on however, believing Nessa to be exceptional enough to overcome that setback. She simply scoffed at them. With the widespread appearance of quirks and with a considerably diminishing of the club's member-base, what had tied Nessa to the club disappeared. The intrigue of constant talks had grown dull as is, but now with even the core pillars the club had relied on crumbling she couldn't bring herself to take it seriously anymore and they had no way to keep her. She was an adult woman now, one many of them admired and in turn feared. Once she was gone it was as if the club ceased to exist. Trough the years Nessa had used her position within the club to support her parents, allowing them to live a noble if diminished lifestyle. Now that she was free, she found herself strangely opposed to the idea of returning home. Her parents had cared for, provided for her, for that she was thankful and for that she had helped and supported them all those years. But, she could not deny that at the end of the day they were no different than the ones she had just turned her back on. There was nothing left for her at home.
With the club gone, Nessa found herself without a purpose. It had been surprisingly easy to go along with the flow, but now that she was on her own she did not know what to do. Her grand aspirations had not left her, and she knew what her way in life how. How to achieve it and where to start was a different manner entirely. A change was needed. A new perspective. England had become suffocating to her. The appearance of Quirks had ended one chapter of her life and it would also serve as the beginning for the new one. Nessa set out to what seemed to be becoming the land of heroes and villain. The faraway eastern country of Japan.
