APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY
Appearance:
Meara is slightly taller than average for a girl. She has a long and lean athletic build that gives her the appearance of a decently built gymnast. This look is something that Meara takes great pride in as she feels that she is living up to her Family’s history of warrior women. That and she was never one to “dress pretty and look like a girl.” The most she’ll do as far as makeup is she’ll wear a nude colored lipstick and maybe some mascara. Other than that she doesn’t dress much like a girl. When not in school uniform she’s normally wearing baggy blue jeans, athletic shorts, or sweatpants and a hoodie.
She also has a full back tattoo of a Celtic cross with a solitary wing on the right side. Her brother has a matching tattoo on his back but with the wing on the left side of the cross. This tattoo has a lot of meaning to her because it symbolized that the siblings will always have one another’s back, and it was the last thing her and Dylan did before he was convicted and sent to prison. So now it acts as a reminder of what she is aiming for as she becomes a hero.

Personality:
Meara is a smart lass, she could possibly be in the top of her class if it wasn't for the fact that she's so forgetful. A lot of people would consider her a peculiar lass, due to the fact that she has a knack for reading people’s faces and getting a basic understanding of what their current emotions are and be understanding of them. But at the same time she can be a bit oblivious to certain emotions like annoyance or affection, especially if said emotions are directed at her.
She has also been told that she is too forgiving and that she likes to give people too many second chances. One of the prime examples of this was a girl that Meara went to school with. The girl was a bad influence on her and would often steal small things from Meara. However whenever Meara found out about it she would rather forgive and forget because Meara felt sorry for the poorer lass. This eventually caught up to her and the other girl ended up stealing Meara’s crucifix that her brother had gotten her. Needless to say Meara ended up getting the necklace back from her, but not after a pretty nasty fight in the school cafeteria. But even after all this Meara still believes that people are always worth giving a second chance. No matter what they did, because in her mind if the system had given her brother a second chance, then he wouldn’t have fallen the way that he did.

HISTORY
Meara grew up in Belfast Northern Ireland in one of the rougher neighborhoods. Her father was a police sergeant and her mom was a teacher. Though her parents had quirks they did not openly oppose the use of quirks, they were still cautious with letting their children use them. In their eyes quirks were just like any other weapons from past generations. It wasn't the quirks themselves that were inherently good or evil, it were the people and how they chose to wield them. So they allowed her and her brother to train and hone their abilities so that they would be able to control and effectively use them if the situation ever called for it.
Her older brother Dylan was unfortunately was imprisoned for attacking someone with his quirk. It wasn't a long sentence because he used his quirk in defense of another, but after he got out, he wasn't the same person that Meara had known. No, he was a bitter and scorned person who hated the current system and wants to see to its downfall. Shortly after his release he disappeared, but not before vowing to burn the governments of the world to the ground so that quirk users can take their place at the top of the worlds political food chain. The last thing she heard about him was that he was a low level grunt in a gang of like minded people that are trying to spread their influence around the globe. This is what has motivated Meara to do the exact opposite of her elder sibling.
While she too wishes for a change in the way the governments of the world view quirk users, she wants to do it by showing them that they're wrong in thinking that they needed to fear quirk users. And maybe in doing so, she'll be able to bring her brother back from the darkness he's lost in. That is why she applied to UA and aims to be part of the generation that helps to change the world. Both for her brother’s sake, and for the future generations. She heard of U.A through various online news articles and reports and liked what she heard about what their goals a school was, so over the course of 6 months she pounded the books so that she could learn the basics of Japanese so she could understand the language at a fundamental level. Her parents joked with here that if she had put in the same effort that she did in learning the language as her training to be a hero once she got there, then there wasn’t no doubt that she would become the greatest hero the school will produce. But that isn’t her goal, no Meara’s goal is to save her brother and anyone else like him.
