Alex had adapted, and started sending the mission texts at least twenty-four hours in advance. Ever since the snafu where someone missed the text, he made an effort to ensure that stupid little mistakes like that didn’t happen again. He had gotten the hang of using the drones more and more, and finally had figured out that he didn’t need to be close to the arena at all in order to use the megaphone or do what he needed to do in order to record the matches. The first step he needed to do was just start doing these consistently, because he had a good chunk of students who had signed up for the darned thing in the first place. It was really nice, honestly, to see the huge response that this had gotten. It meant that the students here really gave a damn about self-improvement – and this first round of events was just fine tuning all the logistics so that that self-improvement would be possible.
All participants were promised video of the entire match, and Alex considered that to be the most important thing he did here… at least at first. He was trying out a bunch of different stuff, and honestly just kind of seeing what stuck. This mission was a VIP protection one, and the terrain was fairly simple because he hadn’t had the time yet to build anything elaborate. He just went in earlier that morning and shoveled some snow around with his quirk to ensure the starting areas and exit areas were visible. It was no use giving out the location if the damned participants weren’t able to find the starting area – though the two drones flying overhead around that region are kind of a dead giveaway.

Protection team, meet at Ground Alpha at 1630hrs on Sunday. Please bring your hero costumes, because this is going to be a tough one.
Your team will consist of Lani, Kyla, and Taylor.
The rules for this exercise are simple. You will start as a team on the upraised stone platform. It’s only a couple of inches high, but that’s your starting point. Your win condition is getting Lani, the VIP, 40 meters in any direction from your starting zone. In your locker room is a blue bandana, and Lani is to wear that at the start of the match just to ensure that everyone knows who the objective is before the start. There are multiple rectangles of snow that I plowed out this morning, hopefully they’re still visible by the time you get there.
If Lani steps through the edge of one of those rectangles, the Protection Team wins. For the Capture team to win, they need to move Lani back to the starting area. There are two circles in the middle of the training simulation, with one being the one all of you will be standing on to begin the match and another one roughly fifteen meters out that the enemy team will start the match from.
There will be two drones in the air capturing footage of the exercise, please please please do not attack the drones. The school bought them for Hero Operations and the Principal will get very upset if they are blown up. I will be trying to fly them at least fifteen meters above the ground at all times, but I haven’t gotten used to dealing with them yet so I might accidentally dip a little lower. The match will start when the drones start playing a really loud trumpet noise. You really won’t be able to miss it, I promise. It’s really obnoxious, but it’s the only sound I got get working on the damn things.

The rules for this exercise are simple. You will start at the outer edge of the outward stone circle, which is approximately fifteen meters from where the Protection Team is starting. You do not have to position all clumped up together like the Protection Team does, and can start from any deployment variation you wish.
Your win condition is simple. You are called the Capture Team because your goal is to move the VIP back in the middle of the training area by any means necessary. Once that trumpet is blown, if you get Lani – the super bright girl with the blue bandana on her head, you literally can’t miss her – back to the enemy team’s starting area you win.
Their win condition is to get Lani at the edge of the rectangles that should have had the snow plowed out a bit. Basically if she gets around 40 meters in any direction from the start, y’all lose. The rest of the Protection Team will go out of their way to keep their VIP moving, but keep your eyes on the prize and this one is very winnable for you.
