Demon Machine i no longer fear ending my hell Nyke didn't speak once she sat down. She didn't answer the teacher's question on purpose. It involved speaking more than she was comfortable with doing. It seemed he wanted to know who had a phone and who didn't. It seemed like an obvious thing for everyone to have a phone of some kind. They were so popular and abundant these days that it would be odd not to have one. And yet, some of the students didn't. The teacher was handing out phones to students that didn't have them and giving instructions on some game he wanted them to play. Once he came around to Nyke's desk, she held up her personal cell phone. It was a brand new version of one of the name brand phones developed by her father's corporation. Nyke wasn't sure if other people kept up with tech news to know it, but Nyke had an incredibly expensive phone. It was one of those things that screamed rich person.
She held it up toward his face with no malice despite the action being pretty rude. She just wanted to get the point across that she didn't need a handout from him. As for the game in question, Nyke was quick to find and download it. Most of the games she had on her phone were puzzle games. It was what she liked the most. This one was different though. Sure, there were some puzzle elements in it, but it wasn't the main draw of the game. it seemed the teacher wanted them to play the game three hours a day. "For what purpose..." She muttered to herself as she looked down at her phone. It seemed so arbitrary and yet, it was an assignment from the teacher. How was he going to determine that actually played through three hours and didn't just leave the game running? Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

Ericka didn't mean to arrive late. So many things were going on that she lost track of time. Here she was, already being voted to be the class president and he was late for class. It made her feel so unqualified. The blonde haired blue eyed girl made sure to ferociously apologize once she got to the class. Why was she late? She stayed behind to help another student clean up their dorm room. Not everyone had an easy time moving in and some people needed more help than others. Ericka couldn't just stand by and watch someone struggle with the task handed to them, so she offered her help. It was a sweet thing for her to do, but it got in the way of her own responsibilities like it did now. She had to make sure she stayed focus and took her education seriously. her parents moved all the way out to Japan just to make her dream come true, so she had to take things seriously!
She glanced up at each sign as she passed the doors to each classroom. It was pretty easy to find it since there were only three of four occupied classes at the moment, but she wanted to make sure she was in the right place. And once she saw the placard for class 1-B, she stopped to double check and make sure this was the class she was supposed to be in. Sure, it said so right there, but she wanted to make sure she was in the right place before going inside. Only after she cleared those doubts did she opened the door and enter the classroom. It was already pretty full and ongoing, with the teacher explaining something about a homework assignment. "I'm sorry for being late." She spoke up once she inevitably caught the teachers attention.
Like everyone else, she was wearing the school's uniform. It fit her quite well, those the top was a little tight in the chest area. If anything stood out about the girl aside from her European descent, it was how well endowed she was. She quickly took a free seat toward the front of the classroom, sitting int he front row if she could. She wanted to show that even though she was late that she was just as determined as the others to become a hero.

A lot of people were coming in now, mostly girls, a few guys, but all of them late. This just made Arata scratch the back of his head. SOme people had their own phones, others asked him why he wanted to have them play a phone game just for him to get to know them. He had his reasons for doing this, and he had a desire to tell them while pushing up his glasses in that classic anime style to glare the light off of them. But he didn't have his glasses, and his project didn't need to be disturbed.
Instead, he would address the class as a whole first, lifting up his hands to indicate for everyone to calm down so that he could address them all.
"Alright so a few things. First and foremost. To all of you who were late," He trailed off before lifting up a hand overhead, before pointing his arm out at the class, where upon one of the marks on his left hand would fade away as a large spectral glove formed, 1920s rubber hose in terms of design while it mimicked his pointing at them to indicate he was not taking any nonsense on the matter (despite how nonsensical his glove looked).[/color]
"First: If you want to be late to class that's fine, but unless you have a reason for being late like Sam, you'll be standing outside in the hallway, holding full buckets of water and a sign dangling from your neck to let everyone know exactly what you did wrong." It was a little cliche, but maybe being cheesy and classically cliche in terms of anime and manga would be enough to make them avoid being late to his class from now on. He was here to teach them all, not just a select few of them! After that, the glove deflated before the energy that made it returned to his hand quickly as it came out.
"Second and on to the game: I will tell you all exactly why you are playing it, but only a week from now. Just know that it will help me get to know you all better. Thirdly: I'll know if you are playing it or just leaving it on the home screen or not. I have admin access, as one of the artists for the game, I get that rite."
He held up his phone and waved it back and forth, giving a cheeky grin as some of his character designs were used in the game, and he did consultation work for future designs. Pushing that aside, he was moving on to the main lesson.
"You can play it in class, but I expect you to pay attention. So set it to idle mode or something and farm while you pay attention. As for our first lesson, I want to ask you this one major question. Each of you take time to think about your answer and answer how you feel, not how the person answered before you: What is the main difference between us, and a super hero?" He of course meant a hero from a comic book and them as heroes in the real world. And for his first person to answer, he pointed at the first person to enter class late, Nobunaga.

Nobunaga Tsukiko It was no surprise that Nobunaga was receiving multiple stares from his fellow classmates upon entering the room after apologising to the teacher. Considering his height, build, masculinity, and general attitude upon arriving, it was no wonder that the Tsukiko was bound to get a few stares or comments from the others. Regardless, he was more interested in keeping a watchful eye over the bandages on his arms for they were inflicted with the most damage.
His eyes turned to face Lani who immediately called out to Nobunaga and wondered to know what had happened and how did he get such injuries. Sadly, such battle wounds were not from facing a villain, nor fighting against the Top Dog bully of U.A (Though needless to say, that will come later), alas his wounds came from his regular training schedule at the Training Facility to which he truthfully replied back to his colleague.
“Injury at the Training Facility. I was using the gymnasium to help bulk up my strength and I went too far and I bruised myself. It’s my fault, don’t worry about me. Though erm... Thanks for the concern.”
After managing to properly adjust himself into his seat and finally deciding to download the game from his mobile app, he took the opportunity to examine the room and its people fully. Even though the class was a female majority, such matter did not concern the Tsukiko, and he was instead more interested on what kind of Quirks people had, his eyebrow slowly raised at the bubbly girl that sat on a desk next to him, and he found himself rather distracted by her pink hair and pointy ears, something that he has never seen before…
In fact, a lot of the Class 1-b girls that occupied their own seats are gorgeous! From the girl who asked about his injures with her gorgeous tan skin, white hair, to the crystal clear European decent girl with a matching name. Even girl called Miku; who was terrified at Nobunaga’s appearance was rather cute in her own way. It was clear that he was going to have a very hard battle in trying to develop some form of friendship with his class members. Something that he was certainly NOT looking forward to.
Once Nobunaga’s gaze turned to the teacher to which his eyebrow slowly rose at his teaching method. The Tsukiko felt rather puzzled at his mannerism and began to wonder was this teacher one of those so called “Otaku’s” that he heard so much about from one of his many ventures across town? His gaze only stiffened when he was asked a question by the very teacher:
“What is the main difference between us, and a super hero?"
Nobunaga folded his arms and began to ponder at what the teacher meant by such a question, taking a moment of clarity to think for himself. Being at U.A Academy, it is a symbol of a student’s journey to become a Hero, a symbol of Peace and Justice! To use their might against evil, and to be an example to the world. There was also his experience; having only attained his family Quirk at sixteen and ladled a “late bloomer”, Nobunaga had to earn his way to U.A Academy the hard way, and his family having been developed from being Vigilantes, he was subjected to bullying at school something that he swore to never be a victim ever again. Lastly, there was the term ‘super hero’, such a term can only be described in comic books and manga…
Yes, clearly this teacher was indeed an “Otaku”, at least to Nobunaga’s eyes.
Nobunaga opened his eyes and finally answered:
“The difference is we are Real Heroes. However, our heroism comes with consequences. We are the foundation, a harbinger of a new age for Heroes of the future, and as such we need to find our roles as heroes in society. That is why being a Hero means using all of our strength to ensure that we provide a safer environment for our community for Quirk and Non-Quirk civilians and keep the people safe from villains. If we fail in our duty, then we lost the respect of the people, we lose faith in ourselves as heroes. Our failures have consequences. A ‘Super Hero’ that you say Sensei, I am going to assume are those from books and manga’s. Although they help to provide a more younger generation inspiration to become a hero and use their quirks to fight crime; there is one problem. The Super hero’s in comic are a poor representation to us. Besides the fact that such manga’s generally fall into a cycle of telling big world-breaking stories and then "resetting the table" and reversing all of those changes…”
Tsukiko growled at himself, feeling that he was drifting slightly off-track for a moment, before slamming his fist down on a table, taking this matter seriously:
“The point is this: Comic book super heroes can come back whenever a story wants! But we can’t! We can get hurt, we can die and we don’t come back!”

Kyla looked at the teacher and nodded. They could play in class, at least his class anyway. That made things a little easier. Kyla wasn't too keen on using up all her free time on a phone game. Sure, it could turn out to be really interesting, but she wanted to do other things aside from school work as well. She also didn't really understand the point of the game, but she would do as she was instructed. Until then, she messed around with it until the teacher asked her to do something else. She wondered if she could mess with the files of the app at all. Once Arata explained that he had admin access to the game, Kyla decided against it. He could probably tell if she messed with anything and she didn't want to get into trouble and have her grades affected because of it. For now, it seemed like a good idea to do as shew as told. However, the next thing was something she had to think about. The teacher went around the room and asked the class one question and told everyone to think about it before they answered. He said not to consider what everyone else was saying, but it was hard not to when each person was answering in order. First up was the large guy that entered the class. He was late, so the teacher picked on him first. His answer made sense. They couldn't just be written out of a tough spot or problem. They had only one life and they had to be careful with what they did. They were accountable and not just given the default point of view. "We're people, not stories." She answered aloud, speaking just as she was thinking it. It took her a moment to realize what she said after she said it, but she liked the answer she gave. Kyla knew what kind of place a world without heroes was. Even though it was a new profession, she saw what happened when villains were allowed to run rampant with checks. There were people being hurt, not nameless background characters. Each person had their own life, dreams, goals, and futures and each of them needed to be protected. Arata Hayashi

Miku didnt quite know what the difference was between them and super heroes. While she did hear answers from other people, she didnt quite like it... or it wasnt something she'd say. The thing was, she read comic books so she knows bunch about super heroes. And thats what she considers that UA is teaching them to become. Super Heroes. Super Hero, Hero, True Hero. Those words were interchangeable to Miku. So it took her a while before giving an answer, as she also remembered her caretakers words, because as a Vigilante and an ex Villain,he had his own words on heroes and villians and such. Actually, when it came to that, his words rang to her the most. It was just a matter of how to word it. And when she figured that out, she started talking... and oh boy did she start talking "A Hero or a True Hero is a person noted for courageous acts or nobility of character. A True Hero serves and protects and gives others peace and hope. A Hero isnt just a brute and a ruthless fighter who beats up Villains. They are an example to youth and to everyone else. The qualities a Hero should have is courage, virtuosity, sacrifice, determination, focus, compassion, humility, perseverance, dedication, honesty, loyalty, intrepidity, fortitude, responsibility and widsom. And a True Hero considers a good deed its own reward. A hero is not born, he or she is self-made. Previously mentioned are some of the most fundamental qualities, which a Hero invariably possesses. We all do possess some of the virtues. However, what sets a Hero apart from the hoi polloi is that he can be said to be the highest or the perfect embodiment of all of these virtues. To me, Hero, True Hero or Super Hero are interchangeable terms because they all apply to us. To people with quirks we are Heroes. To people without quirks we indeed are Super Heroes. And honestly it doesnt matter what people call us. Hero, Super Hero, True Hero, Villain, Vigilante, Saviour, Monster. The only thing that matters is what we choose. I personally choose to be a Hero, I will try to do my best and let my actions speak to everyone, because actions speak louder then words. And then the public can choose what to call me, be it Super Hero or whatever"She took a breath and continued. "I dont know if I answered your question or not teacher as I can talk about Heroes and what is a Hero and what make a Hero a Hero for hours and hours. And while I do have my piece to say about comic book or manga Heroes and my own opinion that would contradict my classmates opinion. I can only say that, to not waste anyones time and give others a time to answer your question with their own opinons and beliefs...Umm..I can say that while I havent read any manga, that comic book heroes arent just an inspiration to the younger audience to become Heroes. Comic book Heroes can be good examples to us Heroes on what we should be, provided we dont things too literally. Anyway, I feel like I talked to way too much. So um... next person?"Miku then finally stopped talking and gave another classmate a chance to speak. Honestly, she talked so much her throat dried up a bit. But she couldnt help it. The hero subject is a touchy thing to her, and she has strong and passionate opinions about heroism. Most likely because the way she was raised.

"A reason for being late? Not necessarily, no. Since it was the first day of class, one of the expectations here was for the lateness to be excused, especially if people are still figuring out where their rooms are and getting used to the school. Accidents tend to happen in that sense, no one should be punished for it. But if that's what you want, to make an example out of me that is, I don't mind standing outside and holding those buckets. "
It might seem as if Kogami was a bit stubborn with his view of things. Part of him would never accept the punishment as a learning curve, he didn't count the first day. He wasn't even too sure of himself if he belonged here or not. However, Kogami would still try to make it worthwhile.
The next question that came about was somewhat interesting, the reason for someone to compare themselves to a superhero.
"Us and a superhero? Right, it actually depends on the artist and the art style. In all honesty, the better stories mimic reality, mortality seems to transpire beyond the contents of each page. If that's the case and you're more into the original work concepts of the earlier comic books, the answer is nothing. There is nothing different. Our lives as heroes will test our mettle with personal and professional relationships, as well as our views and values. We will face enemies with nothing to lose, taking advantage of the fact that we will continue to play by the book and use it to hurt the people we care about. Regardless of all of that, we have to persevere. Why?"
Kogami would open a bag of chips and took a bite.
" Because we all need something to believe in. Someone is willing to risk their lives to fight and protect, all the while submitting themselves to the same laws that even quirkless people and the police have to abide by. Anybody who's willing to do that ....well... nevermind. My answer is complicated, but I don't see a difference."
Kogami would then eye Nobunaga from the side.
"You take comics a bit likely, maybe I should suggest some new reading material for you?"

Oh god, we got a bunch of wanna be adult's over here! Melissa thought to herself as each kid answered the question, though in reality none had been picked but Nobunga to answer the question, Melissa supposed they were just eager, eager like she was. Not to answer the question though, no. Everyone gave roughly an answer that was similar except most people gave a long blow hard answer that really, in Melissa's eyes just showed desperation. All but the emotionless voice of the girl with the large sphere in her forehead. Melissa just sighed again as she looked to the phone, she had been playing this game but still had yet to make it past the character customization option. Eventually the voices of her class mates continued on giving these answers and she couldn't take it any more. "GEEEEZ LOUISE!! Could you guys make being a hero sound even less cool" she said rolling her eyes. "Aren't you all meant to be kids too, y'all will be known as the boring heros if you keep this up" she said shaking her head as she put her new game phone into her bag. "Teach, like this is fun and all, but when can we use our quirks? We came here because we've never been able to use our abilities in every day things, I don't wanna be sitting stuck on this character creation when I could be out there" she would point to the window where other classes were obviously having their own induction days, where they were using their quirks. "Isn't getting to know our powers more beneficial than playing some boring game and getting the same silly answer over twenty times" The pixie uttered shaking her wings loose, allowing them to open up, essentially revealing themselves for the first time.
"Iv waited so long to be able to fly properly," She said as she stood up. "Everyone came here because we understood that something inside of us made us want to be heroes" Melissa uttered as she stood on her chair and then on to her desk. "We know comic book heroes are fiction while we, WE ARE LIKE SO TOTALLY HERE" she shouted pumping her fist in the air. "Everyone of us wants to exceed our own limits, but mainly, right now, for me....I just wanna see what my quirk can do when pushed to the all, thats why I came here, thats why I wanted to study at this school. I'm not the kinda girl who can sit and play games, so please, please Glovebox sir, please let us show you what we can do, not only as students but as heroes in training" Melissa said. She had been in class for twenty minutes now and really, well the fact that they hadn't gotten to use their quirks had grated on her. They were all supposed to be hero training, and while other classes got to show their capabilities her class had been stuck in doors playing a game and answering silly questions. So not cool. You'd think she would be embarrassed for such an outburst, but evidence by the large smile upon her face, the quivering of her translucent wings and the lack of any crimson shading upon her face. Well embarrassment was obviously not an emotion that this small creature ever felt.

Brun had just arrived to the school building. The place was massive. Nothing like the previous school he attended. At the entrance he recieved a "good luck text from his grandparents and his birth parents. Smiling a tad behind his glasses he tucked the phone away in his pocket protector and popped up his collar. No one needed to see his scars, and it would be annoying if anyone asked about them.Putting on his fingerless gloves he'd sigh once and enter the building.
Looking at the board, his assigned classroom was 1-B. Scratching his head, he looked left and right, but... he didn't know where exactly to start looking. He was already running late as it was, and he didn't account for the sheer size of the building so he estimated the time he'd look for his class would be doubled. Stroking his beard, he would sigh once more. He'd have to face the punishments for his lateness and having the attention on him was the last thing he wanted...
"Aww man! How'm I supposed ta find this place!" His thick country accent reverbrated through the empty halls. He looked next to the board to find a map of the school and its grounds as well as the current building he was in. It wasn't to far away, thank heavens. "Damn! I'm stupid!" he said cursing to himself in English. He'd walk down the halls trying to find his correct classroom until he came came accross 1-B. He was a bit nervous. These would be his class mates for the next coming months. He'd knock on the door and open it slowly. He had apprently interupted a class discussion.
"Isn't getting to know our powers more beneficial than playing some boring game and getting the same silly answer over twenty times
Everyone of us wants to exceed our own limits, but mainly, right now, for me....I just wanna see what my quirk can do when pushed to the all, thats why I came here, thats why I wanted to study at this school. I'm not the kinda girl who can sit and play games, so please, please Glovebox sir, please let us show you what we can do, not only as students but as heroes in training"
Brun was taken aback by the girl who suddenly jumped on her desk and started pumping her fist into the air. Was she talking about her quirk? Brun wanted not to interupt her moment but decided it best if lay low but give his input on the discussion.
"Uh.. hey Ya'll I'm Brun! Brun Azir! Sorry fer bein late n' all. I kinda got lost on my way here." He'd bow down to the class and teacher in apology for interupting the discussion. "If I may interject though with my reply while i'm up here. From what I gather, this school aint just about honin' our quirks lil firefly." His comment was directed towards Melissa with a bit of hostility. "Some of us have been put outta sorts because of what we can do. Coming 'ere is like a safe haven fer some and a training facility fer others." He'd take his seat by the window and possibly continue. "Don't take it too personally though I do kinda agree with ya. I won't lie. At least have some faith in this... Glovebox Sensei? There might be a reason fer all this." He rested his head on his hand and put his elbow on the desk to hold it up correctly and looked Melissa's way. "If I sounded rude I apologize, ma'am. I figured I'd give my two sense while I was standin." With that said he'd take off his glasses and put them onto his shirt.

these rapid eyes will keep on moving Lani messed around with the app as the teacher answered questions and went over the specifics. Things seemed simple enough and as long as it wasn't too boring she would try it out. She was really curious what the goal of it all was and the fact that he had a part in the game seemed kind of sleazy. Was this just supposed to be free advertising? Lani couldn't help but think there was some kind of ulterior motive, but she wouldn't press on it too hard. If it was some for a bullshit reason though, the girl would definitely flip out in the middle of class. She took becoming a hero seriously and wanted to succeed. Not only that, but she wanted her whole class to succeed in it. They were going to be the best class after all.
"To be honest, I don't care about the difference." Lani started, not really answering the question. She was difficult like that. The girl sat up in her seat and continued to speak. She placed her elbows on the desk and cradled her chin in her palms. "Heroes, superheroes, your every day local hero, some of them are super cool and others are super boring. Stories or reality don't matter cause I'm not here to be them. No matter what I become, I'm Lani and I'll always be Lani. I'm here cause there are some seriously fucked up people out there and someone's gotta stop 'em." She then moved her left hand from under her chin and pointed it toward the teacher. "But tell us bossman? what's the difference to you?" She asked, returning the question to him since everyone was answering. Lani didn't really think there was a right or wrong answer. It was all perception and opinion, so hearing the teacher's opinion on it would be just as insightful. ulla

Demon Machine i no longer fear ending my hell Nyke watched as more students came and more questions were answered. It was at this point that she sat back in her seat and remained silent. Now that there were more students in the class, there could be less of a focus on her and she wouldn't have to speak so much. Being in the background and being quiet was far more comfortable for the girl. So when it came to answering the question, Nyke said nothing at all. She hoped that she would simply be overlooked among the plethora of answers and could just get away with that until she was called on personally.
In the time being, she fiddled with her phone and the game they were presented with. If she was going to have to waste three hours on it, she was going to do so now. Considering the teacher was going to be able to tell when they were on the app and for how long and even if they were idle or not, Nyke wanted to make sure she got it out of the way. SHe was curious as to what kind of privacy laws were being broken by him doing that, but if she needed to scrub her phone clean, there was easily someone at her father's company that could take care of it. As for the question itself, Nyke didn't really know. All she did know was that she wasn't super and didn't plan to be. She was going to be a hero, as best she could. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

Ericka thought about the teacher's question as the class went around and answered it. The phone app that everyone was responsible for playing was going to have to come later. It was technically homework, so Ericka would only bother with it if she had some free time during the class. When the teacher was teaching and asking opinions of the class, she was going to pay attention and take stock of what her classmates thought. They were all different kinds of people with different thoughts on different things.. Sure they were all here for the same reason, to become heroes, but each one of them had an outlook that was going to shape the professional landscape of what being a hero really was. But even before them, heroes existed.
Quirks and superpowers weren't what made people heroes. It was a nature and action that defined those things. So when it came time for Ericka to answer, she spoke what she thought on the subject at the moment. "Superhero can do amazing things, but heroes are the real people like the police and the firefighters that help and save people every day. it's who we should aspire to be like and look forward to helping when tragedy strikes." Ericka explained. Her answer wasn't much different from some of the others, but she understood the general line of thought that most of the students had. Why were they being asked this? Ericka could only guess, but she was soon to find out.

Arata took in a deep breath after listening to what everyone had said. And then turned his attention on the class. He lifted up his arm high, and then pointed down at Nobunaga first, "While all of you have the right idea, heroism is a philosophy and how you view your own code of ethics. Your morality on the matter and how you hold yourself. But the main difference between us and a super hero is just that. Superman can be shot and bullets bounce off of him. He can survive in the vacuum of space. He can be exposed to radiation and brush it off like nothing."
"But we aren't super heroes. We're humans. Humans with a bit of an oddity to our genes. That oddity, as you all know, is your Quirk. It makes you super, but you aren't invincible. If there is one thing I want all of you to remember by the time you graduate it's this: You aren't a superhero, but you can be a super hero." He spaced the words out to emphasize the difference between them. "And I want you to keep yourselves safe. You have powers. You have gifts. But you can still get hurt. Superman can take a bullet to the chest. You can't. And I would hate to hear that the story of an upstart hero ended before it took off."
"As for you Mister Azir: That game is going to tell me a lot more about all of you than you think. I'll know by the end of the week how you guys want to act as a hero, how you want to carry yourself and treat your classmates. That's all I am going to say on the matter until the week is up. In the meantime, I'm going to go over day to day lessons. ANd when that week is up, we're gonna field test your quirks against each other. It's my goal to see you all become a team. And within that team you're gonna have your own little squads."
He wanted them to think about the fact that while they had great powers, they were capable of being hurt. And that game. he wanted them to play it as they saw fit. But if they were aggressive players or not, whether they used this feature of the game or the other, he would get to see just how they liked to carry themselves when they weren't in the public eye. With that, he would get some sort of an idea on how to help them along the path to being the hero they could be.
"Now that's that. We can start the normal lesson for today. Get your books out." And so, Arata would begin the lesson.

There were a few more answers that were coming along from some of the other students that were there. Some people had something a little more meaningful to say than others. "Maybe that came off a bit mean....." Rephrasing his thought process in his head, some people had said some things that gave off a bit of a better point than others. Regardless of the matter, everyone had a different opinion about what makes a hero or how someone should conduct themselves as one. In the discussion of diversity itself, that does come off as unique.
"I guess with everybody being so different, I'm pretty sure that it could lead up to some interesting situations. " One could only hope that the differences that people within the class had would give them reasons to interact and even become a basis for them to grow.
But after the whole fiasco about what the difference was between a hero and a superhero was, Kogami was told by the teacher to take out books as they started class. "Class huh, it's starting already?" Moving all of the snacks on his table over to the plastic bag, Kogami would then take out his bookbag and start pulling out his books and writing utensils.
