Having more people sign up than they had anticipated was a good thing. And why wouldn't it be? The military had both the equipment and the personnel necessary to run multiple concurrent tests. And the more data they managed to collect on quirks and quirk users, as well as how they behaved in critical situations, the better. Though humanity had already come face to face with quirks and dealt with its turning point, that moment was only just coming up for the military. Examinations of this nature could decide the future of warfare. The primary rescue exam had been set up at sea with a focus on diving, but seeing that there had been a good number of interested parties the examiners quickly organized another similar test. In fact, to say that it was organized from scratch was a bit of a stretch. Many of the elements of the test had been set up as soon as the other test had been, and once it became clear that there would be a surplus of participants, only the finishing touches had to be added. The result of that effort was an old underground bunker, remodeled to serve as an exam area. Unlike the primary exam, this one wasn't going to entirely focus on diving. Rather, participants were expected to navigate several floors of the bunker, each of them built so that it provided a certain kind of challenge. The instructors present at the site were Daisuke Oshiro and Takeshi Kazuhira. Daisuke had played a significant part in designing the final layout of the whole test, whereas Takeshi was going to be more focused on the actual performance of the participants. The bunker itself was divided into three levels, each level containing one or more rooms the participants had to pass trough. All participants started at the lowest level, deep underground. A lift took all of them down to the starting room from which they would start their journey trough the entire bunker. The first level that awaited them only had two rooms, though both had a thing in common. Darkness. Though there were a couple small flickering lights here and there, some 80% of the first level of was in complete darkness. The first room the participants would come face to face with was a labyrinth of narrow hallways they had to navigate in near complete darkness. What made this more challenging than just navigating the cramped and dim space was the fact that for each participant in the test there was a dummy bomb hidden somewhere within the maze. Though the door to the next room would unlock even if the bombs were not defused, failure to do so would of course result in a number of penalty points for each participant, as they were all being graded on how many objects they completed, how effectively they managed to do so and how fast they managed to clear the bunker. Daisuke had been responsible for the construction of the test bombs and they were set on a five minute timer. The second room beyond the bomb maze was a relatively simple, long and wide hallway. What presented a challenge there once more was the pitch black darkness as well as the fact that there was exposed electrical wiring strewn across all over it, with water dripping from the ceiling. While that room was considerably smaller than the previous one, all the additional obstacles and the direct danger they posed were meant to make it more difficult. Although Daisuke was one of the instructors assigned to the test, he barely payed it any mind. Even as the test was moments from beginning, he was more concerned with reading a manual than observing the participants. Takeshi on the other hand couldn't have been more different. Tense, on edge, with his eyes glued to the monitor and staring at the participants. Each of the rooms had severalcameras installed which let the instructors observe the performance of each participant. Takeshi was effectively in charge of the entire test and even sat at the command console which would allow him to control certain parameters within the bunker. Though all participants had been transported to the starting room, the test would only officially begin once the door to the first chamber opened. They had been provided with a small booklet detailing the challenge and objectives that awaited them in each room as well as a low power flashlight. "To all participants. The test is about to begin. You are expected to clear every objective and reach the next room within a reasonable timeframe. For these purposes you are allowed to use your quirks in any way you'd like, as long as you accomplish the objects put before you. Please do your best and show us your full capabilities." Takeshi's voice was carried throughout the whole bunker over speakers. His words were hollow, monotone, read off a card provided to all the instructors. His mind was occupied with other matters to even fully consider what he was going to say. Without a countdown, without any fanfare or warning the door to the first room opened and the bombs activated. The trial had begun. ___ Ericka NicolaiMaximillian Tychus Kane@alastercorvus @aerisleon Chise IshiharaNyke NoraKyla CaseyHere we go. I apologize for the slight delay, but it took a bit of time to get a second thread going for this event to accommodate everyone. In the post above you'll find a general idea of what the challenge will be, but to reiterate, your characters starts on the third level of an underground bunker, in a simple spacious room, all together. The door has opened to the first test chamber which contains a maze with only a few flickering lights to guide your characters. You have two primarily goals for this phase. Find the door to the second room and find a total of 7 bombs scattered throughout the maze. The bombs themselves are not dangerous and simple explode in a cloud of colour, but the instructors have made it clear that not finding and disarming the bombs will be penalized. Keep in mind also that the maze is filled with dead ends and smaller obstacles. For your own posts you are free to explore it and progress as you see fit, but once my next post arrives be prepared to have obstacles thrown in your face. This first round of posting does not have a time limit and will establish the posting order, but please try to post in a timely manner. Above all, good luck and have fun!

Demon Machine i no longer fear ending my hell Te task Nyke signed up for seemed like an interesting one. After her time on the base and learning all the different things she did while present there, it was time to give back in a direct way and allow them to evaluate the effectiveness of her quirk. However, with just the start of the exercise, things were already becoming questionable. The lift that brought the group down to the first level of the bunker was going to be taking on more weight than expected as Nyke stepped on to it. She easily weighed double what her classmate weighed because of her quirk. And though the lift was designed to take a large amount of weight, the silent girl was still hesitant to step on to it without testing the lift first. Fortunately, the thing could handle her along with everyone else that was on board.
There were people that she recognized and some that she did now. The most obvious was Kyla and Ericka. They were her classmates and one was even her class president. There were two other students she remembered seeing in the halls of the school at one point or another as well as a teacher there with them. Having a trusted adult around made things less nerve-racking. If something went bad or got too serious they had an advocate to speak for them and trust their safety in. And while Nyke didn't know the teacher very well, she did understand that Yuuei did look after the safety of their students even off campus.
As for what Nyke wore to the exercise, that was simple. This was an activity where she needed to use her quirk, but not where her costume was to be shown. That was mostly for class and the like. So she came in a hoodie romper. It was an odd garment that covered her upper half and was connected to shorts for her lower half. The hoodie was sleeveless and she kept the hood down for the moment since she was going to be in the dark and needed to see as well as she could. It was all black. Wit it set against her dark skin, her white hair was the only thing that really contrasted the lack of light in the bunker. In her hand was the provided flashlight that she was going to use the navigate the dark maze before them. And once they were allowed to start, Nyke silently glanced to the others as she contemplated what to do.
Being the quiet type, she wasn't going to say much or share what she wanted to do, but it there was too much noise Nyke would just go ahead and walk off on her own. For now, though, she'd stand back and listen to what the others had to say. @tag | 471 words | --- Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

Alone. That's what she felt like. Chise had been practicing and training hard ever since the military came to her school. She's learned with different people, those that were new and those that were old, trying her best to get stronger than she already was. She was just some small support studies girl that meant nothing when it came to the school as a whole. She would prove them wrong, she would prove that she did matter. She would get stronger than ever before and prove to those that doubted her that she could become a hero! That mentality was what pushed her into signing up for this event. Her and a select few others were gathered in one room to be taken down to the lowest level of the bunker to begin their challenge. She wasn't sure what this challenge entailed, but Chise would do her best to push through until the end, no matter the cost!
Chise stepped onto the elevator along with the rest of the group and waited, feeling the elevator start to descend, taking them to their objective. The peach haired girl looked around her, most of the faces were people she had never met before. She could only hope that they were either teachers or students in the hero course. As she looked around, she did see two familiar faces: Ericka, the blonde class president who helped her design and bring to life a hero costume for the redhead and Maxi, the ice maker from class 1-C who helped teach her how to climb trees and even reassure her that the path she had chosen was the right one. It was good to see at least one familiar face, but she had two which made the situation a little more better! She at least knew what their quirks were but was still oblivious as to what the other's quirks were. As she contemplated talking to Ericka and Maxi, the elevator soon stopped, letting the group know they had reached their destination.
The violet eyed girl stepped out of the elevator as instructed, seeing as they were let out into a maze of some sorts, a dimly lit one it seemed. Chise could at least make out the surroundings, but wasn't sure if there would be any tricks involved with the task they had to complete. A voice could soon be heard over an intercom of sorts, telling the group that the test was about to begin. How long would they have before the start, perhaps they could plan something out as a group. The main goal was for everyone to make it out, right? Use their quirks, it might be useful if they knew one another's quirks to see how it will benefit the situation as a whole.
With a deep breath, Chise turned to face the group and spoke, "I-I know we don't all know one another, but perhaps it would be best if we talked things out as a group before going into this test. We can talk about our quirks and possibly split up into teams so we can cover more ground and clear the test in a reasonable amount of time. My quirk isn't all that useful in this situation if what this challenge is, is a maze or labyrinth of some sorts. I can only copy voices," Chise spoke to the group, the class president in her speaking out, trying to form a plan of action before their trial would begin.

Aeris Leon Teacher 1-A || Fantasy || Danse de Fee It's Showtime! Aeris was hesitant about taking a lift down to the bottom of a sub-terranian environment at full military control, but when she saw the others getting on the students stepping on, she knew that there should be at least on guardian to keep them safe. First she recognized the most obvious face in the bunch for her, her own student Maxi. Between their fight and their day at the medical tent, he has gotten more of her time than anyone short of Jasmine. She knew what he could do, so at least she knew she had one she could depend on without a doubt. Next were the students from 1-B. Erika Nicolai, Nyke Nora, and Kyla Casey. She did not know much about the three, but knew that Nyke and Kyla were mutants, while Erika was an Emitter. She did take some time looking over her fellow teachers' classes, trying to figure out how her class stacked against them. But she didn't get much depth in to the specifics. Chise Ishihara was a member of the Support Class. It would be nice to be able to bring a member of the Support Squad into a situation Heroes might have to go into. It would give her first hand knowledge of the situations they would be supporting for. The last member was a white haired boy just a couple centimeters shorter than herself.
Aeris was dressed for a heated filled low circulation environment. A pair of denim shorts. Speghetti strap t-shirt with the schools logo on the front and butterfly decorated sneakers. She leaned back against the railing as they descended. She noted the way the lift reacted to Nyke's step. So her mutation had something to do with density? When they were released. Aeris stepped forward and looked back to Chise's suggestion. "That would be good, if we had time. But with this time frame, we need to move and act quickly. If you think you can help in a situation, step forward and do it. We come across a bomb, that is when we will start to split up. One will defuse it while the rest continue on to look for the next one."
She then moved into the dark corridor, looking at the lack of illumination. "Maxi. Ever seen that movie where Mirrors were used to amplify the one ray of light in the dark temple? She pointed a thumb to the low light lamp, hoping he caught on what he could do to help out thier immediate situation.

You leave me here wondering if I'll ever know How much you care, or how much you don't If you're going to be somebody's last time, baby be mine. “ Semper Fi was hosting a special exercise for those with quirks and Kyla had signed up for one of them. Much to her surprise, she was grouped together with quite a few people that she knew. Both Nyke and Ericka were her classmates, with Ericka being her class president. There was also Maxi, who she had met in the library toward the start of the school year. Then there was one of the teachers. She wasn't in her class, but she had seen the woman around the campus from time to time. There were also two people she didn't know. Chise and Alastor were mysteries to her, but Kyla was interested in getting to know them. They were doing this task together, so it would be best that they all worked together. It seemed like they had a good little group going, so Kyla was confident they were going to be fine. As for each of their quirks, however, only time would tell how the group would do provided the challenges that were ahead of them. They were being taken down into an underground facility. What the base had to offer was extremely expansive and Kyla was impressed by it. Between the rescue class and this activity, it seemed like Semper Fi had their own little city to their disposal. The lift they rode down into the darkness was unnerving, however. As the light started to drown away, it was easy to see Kyla become more uncomfortable. While her face didn't show it, her body movements did. Her arms and legs were pulled ever so slightly closer to her center and she stood close to her classmates to make herself feel more secure. And as the darkness enveloped them, the light from Kyla's Nasod Core was the only thing that could be seen in the pitch black before the flashlights were turned on. The cooling blue glow was almost like a beacon that sat on her forehead. It was an odd portion of her mutation that many people just couldn't understand. The technology was unnatural, so it being a mutation was odd for some even though quirk mutations were all over. Once they were at the bottom, plans were started to be discussed and their task was explained. They had to defuse bombs in the area and find them in complete darkness. Kyla looked down to her flashlight and waved it around a bit to see what she could spot from where they were standing. The ideas of staying together or splitting up were tossed around and some clever quirk usage was decided, but nothing was done just yet. Combining the ideas seemed like the best option. "Can we pair off then? I don't think to wander around alone is the best idea." She explained. If someone fell or got hurt, it was probably best if someone else was there to help them. Also, the second set of eyes could look over something that someone else missed. Yes, it would cover less ground, but it seemed like the best of both ideas. ”

How nice of them to cram a group of people deep underground. Supposedly a whole entire new "rescue team" exercise, the only kind of exercise that he had actually completely skipped, now that he thought about it. The boy had spent so much time tinkering around with weapons like a child high on PCP going absolutely ballistic inside a candy store, he had spent time in the medical facilities after going ballistic so badly with his ice during this weapon craze that he gave himself frostbite like some sort of god damn mongoloid who can't control himself. (Admitedly, his time at the infirmary was actually quite productive and nice, he got to really talk to some good people.)
The most time he had spend in the military camp, though, was undeniably in the combat area: he had trained there for hours on end, to the point of even forcing himself to wake up early. Developed techniques that he now fully incorporated into his fighting style, the style that he so affectionately called "Orbital Blades" -- Name Not Final --, spent an entire day fighting what he counted and god knew that he wasn't lying, four swordsmen back to back with results that surprised even himself.
Biggest of all, the most important moment to him in these latest few years of his life also happened in the combat grounds, where he fought the person he most assumed to be an evil, despicable monster that was Jasmine. Completely outclassed, outmatched and outpaced, instead of feeling resentful and even angrier, all he instead saw was that Jas was just a strong, socially awkward idiot and nothing else; definitely not the immoral monster he had convinced himself that she was.
This realisation had hit him harder than anything he ever thought it would, forcing the boy to come to terms with the fact that his assumptions about people being quite easily completely wrong from time to time and, to make sure that he never followed assumptions as religiously as he did, he'd have to constantly check himself, question himself to prevent such a situation from ever happening again.
It also helped him come to terms with the fact that it was alright to be defeated and outclassed from time to time, that he could always recover and improve no matter what happened to him. He didn't have to doubt himself, to feel inferior or afraid: for everyone had their own faults and failures and that, instead of feeling sad and inferior, just focus on improving as much as you can.
And it was just another day of him going over to the combat area to practice in the handling of his swords so he could fight with his hands free to do whatever they needed while controlling the blades: even though it was completely unecessary to use his hands most of the time, he still did it to help his mind get a proper image of what it wanted and was doing. A visual cue often helped him and, since it did so much, he began using it as a sort of "crutch".
Well, plans down the drain when some soldiers, on the demands of two guys he really didn't care for almost forced him to come over for an "important" exercise related to bomb defusing or something? He really didn't want to hear their bullshit that very moment so, to get them to shut up because it was still early for him and his head felt like it was about to explode, he went along.
The elevator ride was uneventful, though surprising. As it turns out, he actually knows almost everyone there! From the ever adorable, pure-hearted Chise that he so admired for her tenacity when it comes to being a hero, from his overly french teacher Aeris that he respected, though had problems relating to, be it the cold (in apparent personality), calculating yet surprisingly helpful Kyla or the cheerful hardworker that is Ericka, he actually had a lot of friends there, to whom he nodded and waved, each and every single one of them. The only person he knew and didn't wave to was Alaster for obvious reasons: he already suspected of Captain Vanilla-Cone and, even if he wasn't a villain, they weren't on the greatest of terms. All he gave him was a sideways suspicious glance and nothing else: he wasn't up to dealing with his preachy bullshit today.
One level. Two levels. Three levels. At the absolute bottom, Maximillian got off and was already feeling a bit bad about this entire situation. It was cold and he could feel it, it was dark and he could see it. It felt tight and somewhat damp, more than enough to make him feel guilty about being a presence that made everyone feel even colder than before. The instructions were clear enough though, get through the mase, to the bombs, disarm them.
He listened both to what Chise, his teacher and Kyla all said, coming to a decision himself, quite a simple one. Whipping out his phone, a top-of-the-line beast gifted to him last year by his very well-off parents, it obviously had a battery life to last, more than enough to get through this tight, relatively small bunker. Turning on its flashlight app, Maximillian quietly walked towards the entrance to the labyrinth.
"Ms. Aeris, if you'd will, care to come with me? We'll make the first duo." Maximillian asked as kindly and politely as he could, not wanting to make anyone feel left out or insulted. The big reason he had chosen the teacher to come with him was because she was a professional, whom he wouldn't feel bad about making cold. Surely, a professional has gone through so much worse. Besides, the probably knew how to disarm those simple, HOPEFULLY fake bombs as well so they were good to go. Quietly getting to the right of the entrance, to follow his tried and tested (through maze games) that following the right wall religiously would get you to the end inevitably, he simply waited for confirmation from his teacher: or a retort from any of the others.

Ah, the final day at Semper Fi. So many interesting things happened during Alaster's numerous visits here. Alaster had made a visit to most of the areas at the camp. The rescue area was the only section Alaster did not visit. He figured he may as well make a stop there before finally bidding the military adieu.
As with all but one of his ventures at the military base, Alaster was not here as the villain. If anyone saw him and recognized him, it would not be as Crowley, but as the writer Harry R. Krowe. In addition to his hair being combed back neatly and his eyes open and gentle to contrast his usual creepy squint, Alaster wore a casual outfit of a long-sleeved shirt, hooded jacket, jeans, and sneakers. He was not here to cause anyone trouble, provided that no one wished to cause trouble to him. He was just here as a civilian.
Hearing about an obstacle course of sorts set up by the military, Alaster had decided to join in. Of course, he would most like be at a great disadvantage compared to everyone else. Participants were invited to use their quirks, but Alaster's was not really suited for this kind of thing. Unless the military had some crows stashed somewhere for him to use, Alaster was basically going in as a quirkless person. He could not rely on any weapons here, either. Alaster was not foolish enough to bring one to a military base, and if he had, they would have undoubtedly been discovered and confiscated.
Still, Alaster was not useless here. He had dealt with difficult situations before. Even without weapons or his quirk at his disposal, Alaster would not back down from this challenge. He would just need to use the experiences from the various heists and jobs that the gang he worked with provided him. In addition to relying on past experiences, Alaster would also need to work with the people he would be taking on the task with.
Sadly, Alaster did not know any of them, with the sole exception of Maxi. Alaster mentally groaned upon seeing Maxi there. Of all the people he had to work with, of course the one bloody person he did recognize among the crowd of strangers would be the one who had blackmailed him into giving him intimidation lessons, all because of one tiny regrettable loss of temper. Alaster sighed. No matter. As long as the ice user did not cause any trouble for him, Alaster would leave him alone. Hell, he would even be willing to help out the lad if for some reason Mr. Hero actually wanted to work with Alaster. Despite only getting a sideways suspicious glance from Maxi, Alaster greeted him with a warm cheery smile, trying his best not to make it obvious that the smile was fake. Alaster also made sure to greet the others in a similar manner.
As the group took the descending elevator to the underground facility, Alaster noted the darkening of the room. It seemed that darkness would be one of the many obstacles here. Fortunately, Alaster had his phone on him. The battery level was above half, as well. He just hoped that it would last long enough to get the job done. After the elevator dropped everyone off, some of the people began discussing strategy. One of the people there, a girl with peach hair and violet eyes, admitted that her quirk was not very useful in this situation. So Alaster was not the only one here who whose quirk would not be of help in this situation. Alaster smiled at the girl as he spoke.
"It's quite alright. My quirk is not exactly suited for what we're about to do either. Still, as long as we can all work together and come up with a suitable strategy, we should all do just fine."
Another person there suggested going in pairs. Alaster noted that including him, there were seven people here. Unless one of those pairs had three people rather than two, someone was going to end up alone. While Alaster was used to, and even preferred, working alone, doing so in this situation would prove to be very unwise. He could not afford to be without a partner while traversing this obstacle course in darkness.
"Regardless of who we choose or don't choose as partners, I wish every single one of you the best of luck! Let's all do our best!"
Taking his phone out, Alaster was ready to turn the flashlight on. As soon as everyone was ready, he would move in and start the challenge. No turning back now. It was time to move forward!

Semper Fi was hosting one final exercise before the gate closed up to civilians again. It was the last chance to do something interesting on the base and they were providing courses to those with quirks for what Ericka could only assume was a final assessment. She was happy to take part. With her adventures at the base over the last few days, Ericka wanted to repay the soldiers kindness for everything they had done so far. Yes, some of them were uncomfortable with quirks and those that had them, but the reception from a lot of the soldiers was simply interest and wonder. She got the same kind of vibe from them that she got from her parents, both of which did not have quirks. And that made her feel at home on the base oddly enough. Not to mention the girl was incredibly familiar with firearms. She even knew some things about them that the soldiers did not. It seemed odd for an outsider, but Ericka's parents taught her a lot about them. Not just because her quirk used them, but because they wanted her to be able to protect herself in this world growing with villains and people that would do harm. Ericka was dressed as casually as the others. Her pink dress was her favorite and she wore it often. However, the girl also brought along something that was maybe a little controversial. She had a pair of BB guns that she recently acquired to show some of the soldiers. They were faithfully modeled after a more realistic and well-known pistol, and she wanted to show them her craftsmanship and how she used her quirk with them. It was going to be her final farewell demonstration after the exercise was over and she was excited to see how they responded. For now, however, they hung from her waist in holsters on a belt that looped around her hips. As for the people on the lift that she boarded to go down into this underground area, Ericka knew quite a bit of them. There were her classmates Nyke and Kyla. Both of them were capable students with nice talents. She knew of their quirks and wasn't surprised at all when the lift shifted due to Nyke's weight. Having them here made her feel really comfortable. There was also Chise and Maxi. Both of them were students from other classes she had met. Chise was a shy girl, but she had an eye for design that Ericka like.d She was looking forward to seeing what CHise could do after thinking she couldn't make it in an exercise like this one. If need be, Ericka would be her number one cheerleader. There was also Maxi, a helpful guy from class 1-A that assisted Ericka and crafting some target dummies for herself. She remembered it being cold around him and he could do things with ice. In fact, she could feel it now as the seven of them rode the lift down. And finally, there was a teacher and another person she did not know. The teacher she had seen around the school but wasn't quite sure what class she was in charge of. However, her familiarity with Maxi made Ericka suspect that it was his class. And she didn't know what to make of the other guy, but if he was a civilian, Ericka wanted to make sure that he was comfortable with them around. "That's good to hear. Thank you for joining us all." She said to him after he spoke. What he said was true, but that just meant the last group was going to have to make a team of three. So Ericka moved over to where Chise was and tugged on her arm with a smile. "Let's go this way then." She said to the redhead. The two stacked girls could go off together and brave the darkness and Ericka could catch up with what CHise was up to. It was perfect, as long as she was okay with that.

They talked. They moved, but barely. Takeshi found it odd to see that the participants in the exercise weren't in any particular hurry. He himself was hardly competitive or even enthusiastic, but he felt that if he were in a similar situation he would be far more proactive about getting the task done in a timely manner. Perhaps that quality was what made him stick with the military despite the initial skepticism of his superiors. Once the initial wonder passed however, the situation didn't seem that strange to him. They were civilians. Some of them students, some adults, but it didn't really change the fact that Takeshi only saw civilians in them. Even the fact that they had quirks helped very little to change his view of them. It was perhaps somewhat arrogant of him to take such a position, but civilian wasn't necessarily a derogatory term for him. It's simply what he got accustomed to calling people who weren't part of the military. Even with their quirks, skills and maybe even experience in fighting villains, they lacked the discipline and the sense of duty that came with being a soldier. It was a small advantage, but it was one he could always lord over them. He chose the more difficult path in life. He had traits which none of them had. Maybe those traits would help him little if it came to a clash between him and one of them, but it was still something he could grab onto. It wasn't that important to him to begin with. Although he took pride in the small advantages his military career afforded him, this wasn't about superiority for him. Takeshi never went out of his way to prove himself to others, not his parents, not his peers and certainly not to a random assortment of civilians who just so happened to have quirks. What he was going to do that day had nothing to do with a feeling of inferiority. He'd do it because Masumi wanted him to and because quite frankly, it's not like he liked quirks or quirkers. He couldn't really muster up any hate for them or connect them to a feeling of inferiority, but he couldn't deny that they were a nuisance either. Still for the time being he had very little to do, when it came to actively interacting with the exercise or the participants. He was practically relegated to watching the monitors and hoping that he could take note of what they did, analyzing their quirks in particular if they gave him the chance. Though that was a possibility, it was a rather unlikely one. The reason behind that was fairly simple. The first task put before the participants was an easy one. In fact most of the supposed hazards and confusing elements of the first task, were not as half as important as they may have seemed at first glance. Though the tunnels were indeed dark, once the participants began actively trying to find a solution they'd quickly find that it really didn't present a real obstacle beyond the mild intimidation factor. The reason behind that had to do with the second simple element which was incorporated into the first challenge. The maze wasn't much of a maze. Though at first it seemed like the number of choices as to where to go was utterly overwhelming, three factors contributed to it being rather straightforward in reality. First, all detours were incredibly short, picking a wrong path would quickly lead one to a dead end without them having to waste much time. Second, the correct path was always a long straight corridor, far longer than any of the side paths which led to dead ends. And the final element which tied it all together were the bombs themselves. Although not apparent at the starting location, once the participants made their way down the right tunnel they'd arrive at the first real obstacle. A crossroad. Though it featured many pointless side-paths, just like the rest of the maze, it did also feature a potential choice to make on how to proceed even with all of the above taken into account. The participants essentially had the choice of four different long corridors, all long enough that the end couldn't be seen and each of which seemed just as viable as the other one. The trick was deceptively simple. All one had to do was stand in the point where the paths crossed. The answer would almost be immediately apparent. The ticking of the bombs. Louder than it had any right to be and serving as a perfect guide trough the simple maze. Out of the four possible paths, two would have audible ticking echoing down them, while the other two would be dead silent. Though it might be difficult to tell at first, once the trick itself became apparent it would be trivially easy to pick the right path. The bombs, their targets would guide them at every junction. Takeshi simply watched this phase of the exercise unfold. He couldn't make it any harder for them nor did hoping that they'd slow down in any way help his cause. In fact, the sooner they were done the sooner he could start making their lives a bit more difficult. ___ Ericka Nicolai Maximillian Tychus Kane @alastercorvus @aerisleon Chise Ishihara Nyke Nora Kyla Casey And with this the posting timer starts. Please keep the posting order in mind and make sure to always tag the next person in line so that they know they're up. Demon Machine i no longer fear ending my hell Nyke watched silently as a plan was put together and decided on. It seemed that people wanted to split up to cover more ground, but not so much as they were moving individually. Moving in smaller squads and packs was what ended up being picked out and with two groups already pairing off, that left three people. Nyke had Kyla and the unknown man, Alastor, to pick from. And not wanting anyone to go off on their own, Nyke assumed that she would be traveling with both of them for the time being. She didn't mind it at all. In fact, she had Kyla with her, so that was beneficial. The two had spent quite a bit of time together, so that worked out. As for sharing or suggesting anything, Nyke remained silent.
She didn't feel the need to add to the conversation or even speak about her quirk. It would do nothing to solve the problem of the darkness or to find the bombs in question. So the small girl deiced to do something else while the others speak among themselves. She walked the edge of the room with her flashlight, getting a stock of the area and trying to understand the position they were in. ANd by the time Ericka had snatched up Chise, she determined that there were four hallways they could moe down. It wasn't until there was a pause in the conversation that Nyke could get a real clue though. It was faint, but loud enough to echo through the corridors. A ticking sound that could be heard. Were these the bombs? It seemed like the most obvious thing and it was worth investigating, so Nyke pointed her flashlight over into the direction of Kyla and Alastor.
"Here."
It was short, simple, and to the point. Nyke wasn't one for words so when she did speak, she made sure to get her point across. And while she wasn't always clear, those that knew her eventually understand that clarification wasn't coming and they would have to make due with what she said. The girl could be difficult like that. She wanted to go down the first hall with them and directed them in toward it with her flashlight. Whether or not they decided to follow her was their choice, but Nyke was going to do this one. And with that, she started down the hall. She took a slow clear walk with one of her hands holding her flashlight and the other holding the wall of the corridor. Her heavy footsteps echoed throughout the corridor as she moved and eventually came to the end. It was a long walk than she expected. And if she was going the wrong way then she was going to be wasting a lot of time. However, things turned out well in the end. As she moved, the ticking became louder, even more so than her footsteps. It was a good sign as long as she could figure out how to properly disarm the bombs. That said, doing it one-handed wasn't going to be easy, so hopefully, the others came with her. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

Chise was a little uneasy about the whole situation, but she had to stay strong. It wasn't like the military was actually going to use real bombs....right? After she had posed her idea about talking about quirks and splitting up, no one really seemed to pay thee talking about quirks any attention. At least one of her ideas stuck through. If they split up into teams, it would be easier to cover more ground that way! he peach haired girl watched as Maxi, one of the only two people she knew, walk over and pair with the U.A. teacher in the group. She was both surprised and relieved when Ericka walked over to her and tugged on her arm. "A-Ah right!" the redhead said, feeling her cheeks heat up just a bit as Ericka tugged her along, urging her to follow the blonde. She was glad Ericka paired up with her, it might be more difficult if she were to pair with one of the people she didn't know as well.
As the pairs were made, the group traveled down the dimly lit corridor to a fork in the road....or well, four different paths to choose from. As they grew closer to the four paths, two sets of ticking could be heard. Being as they were in a spacious area, the ticking was amplified, making finding which hallway the bomb was at a bit more difficult. The violet eyed girl watched as the girl with short white hair shown her light down the first corridor, deciding her group would take that path. If somehow they could travel down each of the four hallways, it would be beneficial. At least one group was bound to find a bomb...although that would mean someone going off by themselves. Chise took her cellphone out of her pocket and shone the light down the remaining three corridors. She closed her eyes and listened, trying to determine which of the remaining hallways might have the bomb down it's path.
Without much to go off of, Chise turned to Ericka and spoke up, "P-Perhaps we should try the third corridor. It seems to sound the strongest coming from that way....unless you think we should go a different way but that is my opinion," the violet eyed girl said, sounding a bit shaky at first but gathering the courage to calm her nerves by the end. Chise turned to face the rest of the group and spoke up, "Wouldn't it be beneficial if at least someone went down each hallway...so that we have a better chance at finding the bombs before they go off?" the poofy haired girl posed her thought to the group. If anything, they would have three of the four corridors covered but someone would have to backtrack to the remaining one if they don't find a bomb down the hallway they picked.

You leave me here wondering if I'll ever know How much you care, or how much you don't If you're going to be somebody's last time, baby be mine. “ Splitting p into groups was decided on in the end and the first one was made immediately. Mani decided to split off with the teacher while Ericka went off with Chise. That left Kyla with Nyke and Alastor, which kind of worked out. She knew a number of the people here and Nyke was one of them. In fact, it was the classmate she was probably most familiar with, so Kyla was happy with that. Of course, Nyke didn't exactly share her quirk, but neither did anyone else really, Kyla included. It was because she knew about the quirks of many of the people here already. And in the interest of time, she was more worried about completing the objective. Should it become important than that information would be given, however? And in her usual manner, Nyke was already doing stuff on her own. She took a few quick steps to catch up to her short classmate and looked back at Alastor to see if he was going to do the same. "Try and be a little more social Nyke," Kyla complained as she started to walk next to the girl. Sometimes it felt like a useless battle, but getting Nyke to speak more was important with the plans the two had together. If they were really going to try and advertise their plans to the school Nyke needed by being able to sound a little more sympathetic, but at least the way she was now had a bit of charm to it. Kyla couldn't help but think she was a cutie in her own way. That aside, as they started to move down the hall, Kyla could start to hear why Nyke picked this hall. A ticking sound started to echo through the hall and could be heard better and better as the got closer. Once the conversations stopped and their surroundings were all they could hear, it was clear they were headed in the right direction unless it was some kind of trap. Kyla hoped that it wasn't and the longer they moved down the hall the more Kyla felt as though it wasn't/ Surely they wouldn't have to go this far before they found out they went the wrong way right? Then again, it would be a huge time waster and that would make it harder to defuse the bombs once they were found. Fortunately, at the end of the path, there it was. It took a few sweeps of their flashlights to find it, but the bomb was located and sitting there ticking down. Now they just had to defuse the thing safely before moving on to the next portion. It was on a timer and having that end was bad. However, Kyla figured she could take the pressure off that feeling by stopping the timer so the bomb could be defused. "Hold on, I got this part." She said as she knelt down to a closed legged squat in front of the bomb. She took a Nasod node from off the transmitters that served as her ears and placed in on the visible timer. Her intention was to use her node to pause the timer. She wasn't skilled enough with her ability to remotely defuse the bomb as a whole, but if she could control just the timing mechanism, then she could give the others plenty of time to defuse the bomb without worrying about the clock. ”

The labyrinth was that much easier to clear than what he thought, if he was actually quite honest. In his desire to go ahead and not be held back by anyone else, he just lead on his teacher, wether she'd follow him or not -- a matter he no longer cared about --, as any extra minute he spent down in such a cold, damp and lonely place, the more he got reminded of Britain and, thus, the angrier he got. If he got too angry, he feared his quirk might just run rampant, as he hadn't fully understood to make his quirk something that isn't different from the person that has it.
Either way, at first, since he was the first one to go, he took one or two sidetracks from the long hallway, using his right hand to the wall technique. Obviously of course, it didn't work thanks to the way that the maze was made, which would make this strategy inevitably work, just after a long, boring time.
Instead, Maximillian observed as Nyke walked directly through the hall, with conviction that clearly showed, at least from a stoic person like her, that she knew where she was going. He'd be damned if he passed up chances like these to get the exercise done sooner and, thanks to the way that the exercise was structured, they also were encouraged and rewarded by working together.
Bombs. He didn't know how to disarm one, though apparently Kyla knew what to do, at least to stop the count-down, to which she did and quite quickly so; he remembered her quirk. Masuds. ...Masuds? Was that the name, it kinda sounded like that. It started with a N, actually, so Nasuds. Yes, Nasuds.
After Maximillian admired her use of the "nasuds" of hers, he quietly approached the bombs, inspecting them and how they seemed to work through a mechanical system of sorts. At this point, he was doubting that they would actually explode on their faces should they somehow fuck this up, after all, a lot of people here were minors.
A tap of his foot and the floor directly below each bomb became.. glassier. "Flash Freeze." As the tanned boy quietly slid his hands back into his pockets for this, as he wouldn't need them for what he was doing, the previously glassy floor erupted into ice, as it carefully encased and completely froze the bombs in place. He didn't know how it ignited, how it worked or anything of the like. All he knew though, from experience, is that any machinery that is completely frozen like that becomes stuck and immobile. So that's what he did, he immobilized its systems and machinery and, hopefully, make them inoperable.
He quietly turned back to anyone that had watched, then up at the ceiling. "What now?"

There were so many paths to take in this maze, so many options, so many possible disasters waiting to happen. Fortunately, a plan was being formed as to how to navigate through the maze to complete their objective. Alaster just hoped that everyone here had at least a tiny shred of competence. He hoped that these people would prove to be useful in more ways than just being possible meat shields.
It seemed as though the groups were decided. Fortunately for Alaster, he had two partners to work with rather than one. This was excellent. Hopefully, at least one of these girls would be useful for the challenges ahead, if not both. There was not much for him to do but to have faith in their abilities and hope that his trust in them was not misplaced.
After some walking around in the maze, the group had arrived at a crossroads. To Alaster, it was clear that the intent was to have people split up and walk down each path, hopefully finding a ticking bomb waiting for them at the end of it. However, there was the possibility of finding nothing at the end of a path. Going down a long path in vain would suck, not to mention that time was not something that should be wasted. Alaster began to think. Hmm, what to do?
His thoughts were interrupted when one of his partners suddenly pointed a flashlight in his direction to get his attention. Apparently, Nyke had an idea about which way to go. Perhaps this was more than just a simple hunch or guess. Did she figure something out? As Alaster walked toward her direction, he began to hear something. It was faint, but it was the sound of ticking. It got louder as he moved closer. The bomb! So the girl was right after all!
Then, Chise spoke up. She suggested that perhaps it would be a good idea for the group to split further so that every path could be checked for bombs. It was not a bad idea, but Alaster was hesitant to follow her advice. First, he refused to go down any path alone. He needed his partners/meat shields with him at all times in case there were more dangers to deal with in this maze. If either of his partners wanted to go in alone, then that was on them. Second, Alaster was heading towards a path that had a very strong possibility of having a bomb at the end of it. He did not want to change course to a new path that for all he knew could very well be a dead end, and thus a complete waste of time. Possibilities were nowhere near as reliable as certainties. And third, even if Alaster did go down a path alone, and said path did contain a bomb, what would he do then? Alaster had no knowledge of how to disarm a bomb. Sure, he once planted a bomb as part of a job for the gang. However, that was just setting a bomb, not defusing it. He was relying on his partners to have at least some clue on how to do it.
Then again, this was an exercise, not a real life scenario. For all Alaster knew, perhaps the (hopefully) fake bombs were not wired like a real bomb, and all it took to disarm them was a simple push of a button. That would be a massive relief. However, it was not wise to expect the military to make things that simple. After the fiasco at the shooting range, Alaster knew better than to trust the military with anything.
As Alaster began to run after his two partners that had gone down the path with the ticking bomb, he noticed Maxi following them as well. Geez, why was he going with them? Did he not have his own group already? Alaster could honestly not blame the ice user, however. It seemed as though he agreed with the idea of heading down a path that certainly had a bomb over a path that only possibly had one. Then there was the whole strength in numbers thing. Either way, Alaster did not mind having an additional meat shield around.
As the group continued down the path, the ticking sound grew louder and louder. At last, they found the bomb. Nyke was right about the bomb being down here. Now all that was left to do was to find a way to disarm it. Alaster just sat stood and watched as Kyla and Maxi dealt with the bomb. The girl used her quirk to freeze the bomb's timer, while the guy used his quirk to freeze the rest of the bomb. It seemed that their combined efforts were enough to successfully defuse the bomb.
All right, that's one bomb down! Hopefully the other group were also successful in finding and disarming the bomb on their path. When Maxi asked what now, Alaster replied. Having not done anything to contribute yet, he figured that he may as well add in his thoughts. The last thing he wanted was for anyone to start thinking that he was useless to the group. "We head back. Find the other bombs and take care of those too, as well as anything else the military might try to throw at us." Leading the group, Alaster began to head back to the crossroads to choose a different path. He doubted that the rest of the maze would be this easy. It was only a matter of time before the group encountered something very dangerous.

Ericka nodded to Chise's suggested. The hall she picked was different than the one the others went down, so they would at least cover some of the space while the others went a different path. Nyke had already left the group without saying a word. The girl's quiet nature and stoic attitude worried Ericka a bit, but she seemed to get along with Kyla. so she had someone to look out after her at least. The twp of them seemed to be planning something together in their off hours during school, so maybe the quiet girl had made a friend. Ericka was happy for just that. As for Maxi and the other man, they joined Nyke and Kyla going down a single hall. This left Chise and Ericka to go down their own and two halls unattended. Ericka frowned a bit as Chise suggestion to get the other halls covered went ignore,d but that seemed to be as good as it was going to get. Ericka patted the redhead on the shoulder and smiled, "If they went the wrong way they'll know where to go. You and I gotta stick together though, okay?" Ericka said to encourage the girl.
Ericka could have split off into one of the other paths, but she didn't want to leave her partner by herself in case something happened. The whole point was to split off into groups rather than going in solo. So it was up to Ericka and Chise to go down the hall that she heard the sound coming from. Walking with the girl, provided she decided to just go ahead, Ericka pointed her flashlight down the hall and started to move. Provided Chise was with her, Ericka was going to use the time to catch up with her friend. "How are things since last we talked. We don't really get to hear a lot about the support studies." Ericka inquired. Being a part of the hero course was very different than support studies, so Ericka was interested in what they did. And Chise was really the only person Ericka knew that was int eh class. "After we talked about costumes before, I suggested making some for my class. A lot of them turn out really well! All thanks to you really." It was praise, but it was deserved praise.
And it was just enough conversation for them to reach the end of the hall where a bomb laid at the dead end. There it was ticking away with the timing visible to those that saw it. Disarming it wasn't that simple either. Between holding the flashlight and working with the bomb, Ericka wasn't sure she could do it by herself. Fortunately, and unbeknownst, to her, Chise's career path was suited for just this sort of thing. Ericka pointed the flashlight toward the bomb so that it was completely illuminated. "You want to give it a go?" She asked, to give Chise a chance before Ericka took a crack at the ticing device.
