The scope of things was undoubtedly big. It wasn't every day that a whole battle ship was replicated, just to be sunk and used as a glorified exercise arena. But, this was a special occasion after all. The army had spent some time examining the potentials of civilians and students who possessed quirks, and now all of that would be put to the test. The scenario which had been assembled was a relatively simple if grand one. Those who had signed up for the specialized test were to be put on a battleship replica which would then be sunk under controlled conditions. Once sufficiently sunk, the participants were expected to navigate their way from their starting cabins, trough the ship's narrow, dimly lit and twisting interior, make their way to the equipment room to retrieve their diving gear, locate a dummy somewhere on the ship which served as their rescue target before making their way off the sunk ship and towards the surface where they would be picked up by a helicopter and will have officially passed the test. Of course simply getting there wasn't the point of the whole exercise. The participants were going to be evaluated based on their performance, whether or not they accomplished all of their objectives and of course how quickly they managed to do all of it. While the entire challenge was a daunting one to be sure, all participants were free to use their quirks however they liked, after all this was supposed to test how well quirks could be applied in situations like this one. The entire test was taking place out on see, with roughly ten square kilometers being sectioned off to serve as the training grounds. The sinking ship was placed in the middle of that area, with the only other thing present being a smaller ship used by the army as a base of operations for the entire exercise. Though the ship had a handful of personnel running it, the only two instructors present who were going to evaluate the participants were Masumi Hisakawa and Daia Tachibana. Masumi was commanding the smaller ship and was in charge of most of the aspects of the exercise. She could track each participant individually as well as observe their progress, both trough waterproof cameras built into the exercise ship as well as ones which were attached to the designated diving gear all participants would be using. She also had control over many aspects of the ship itself such as the lighting, the ability to lock certain doors and even to control the pace at which the ship sunk by sealing or opening additional breaches in the hull. Everything was in place to provide a serious challenge for all those involved. Daia too was an instructor and would test the participants, however he did not occupy the same organizational position as Masumi did. Rather than operate from the command center, Daia was waiting in the water. As his field of expertise was underwater combat, he would have a more hands on approach to the test and would in fact try to slow down and obstruct any and all participants who tried to make it to the surface. The only other instructor who was present in the vicinity was Sho Yamamoto, the helicopter pilot who had flown the participants onto the ship and would be there to receive them once they made it to the surface. Of course that wasn't going to be a walk in the park either, as the participants were expected to climb up to the helicopter using a rope thrown to them, all the while carrying their rescue dummy with them. Sho was also there on standby, in case any of the participants, ironically enough needed rescue of their own. All participants had bee instructed to move to their designated cabins once they were on the ship. The design of the ship itself had been altered slightly and consisted of three levels. The lowest level contained several cabins and was simply built as a maze. There was many hallways, tight turns, dead ends and stairs leading nowhere. Many parts of this level were also without any light, forcing the participants to partially operate in complete darkness at times. Once the exercise started, the participants were expected to navigate these corridors as quickly as possible and make their way to the second level. The second level was built in a similar way to the first one, though far less confusing in it's layout and completely lit. The task here was a completely straightforward one too, since all the participants had to do was make their way to the main room in the middle, where they'd find their diving gear waiting for them. The only real challenge here was putting all the gear on as quickly as possible as the rising water levels would be catching up with the participants. The third level once more became more complicated in its layout, with the primary goal being to locate one of six dummies in the area. The third level also provided an additional challenge in the form of various hazards, such as exposed gas pipes, hot steam rushing out under pressure, as well as malfunctioning doors and dilapidated floors. Once the three levels of the ship were cleared, the participants were supposed to find the exit and make their way to the surface. Masumi waited for each participant to be in their designated cabins before she began to speak. Although most of the personnel on the ship didn't pay much attentions and saw all of this as little more than a usual work day, Masumi and Daia were both tense, visibly on edge from the moment the participants had been transported to the battleship. "The exercise will begin shortly. The hull has already been breached and the ship is filling up with water, slowly sinking as I speak." Masumi's voice was being carried over radio and broadcast throughout the battleship. The command ship was positioned so that she could just about see the battleship from her command deck position. "You have already been briefed on what your task is, but in case the details elude you, you will find a simple instructional leaflet together with your diving gear, which as you should already know is located one level above you. Your priority is to clear all the objectives as quickly as possible. Your are allowed to both use your quirks and cooperate if you so desire, but we will judge your overall performance regardless of how you choose to accomplish your task. Your cabin doors will open once the water levels just about reach the level you are on. I'd like to remind you all that you will have approximately ten minutes before the starting level is fully submerged, thus I advise you to reach the second level and your diving gear before then. Good luck." Masumi finished her monotone briefing before leaning back in her chair. It was somewhat fortunate that all communications with the participants would be done over radio as the light static helped mask just how incredibly tense the woman was. Even now, she simply stared at the array of screens in front of her, each of them displaying a different cabin and the participant within. Daia was in much the same position, though without any camera feed to look at. He simply observed the battleship from a distance away, alternating between diving down and resurfacing again. Both of them were waiting for something. When the ship had already partially sunk and the water had just about reached the deepest level of the ship, the one with all the cabins, all the doors on that level automatically opened, allowing any and all participants to begin moving freely. The test had officially begun. At the same time Masumi discreetly pressed several buttons on her command console before returning her attention to what the cameras were showing her. Two additional breaches in the ship's hull were opened up in response to the button presses. More water began rushing into the ship's interior and the vessel began to sink noticeably faster. The time participants had to clear the first level had been cut down from ten minutes to five. The participants would not be informed about any of it of course. Masumi had made her first move, and many more would follow. Daia waited for his turn as well. This examination would quickly become something far different than was advertised. ___ @sugo Kanna KusanagiKaling TakahashiLani BijanMeiko HaganeRowan SakamotoThe event is officially underway. Above in the post you can find what your character's goals are right now, though for the next few posts you will specifically be focused on navigating the first level and getting to your diving gear before the ship fully sinks. For this first round a posting order will be established for the rest of the thread. Keep to said posting order at all times, other than a situation in which a poster is skipped. You have a 48 hour period to post, if you do not post within this timeframe you will be skipped for that round. When someone makes a post, or runs out of time to post (the above mentioned 48 hours) the next person in line will have 48 hours to post starting at that moment. If for whatever reason you can't make it within that time limit due to some reason, DM or PM me and I can give you an extension. Keep in mind that being skipped can place your character in a dangerous situation so be careful. Of course above all, have fun with the event!

these rapid eyes will keep on moving The military base Semper Fi was hosting an official exercise similar to the classes their rescue teacher offered the students during the time the base was open. And after the results of the class, Lani was looking forward to trying out something like it again. While she wasn't in the group that had the sunken ship as their course, she did have an affinity for water. Growing up on an island and being a surfer, swimming with tumulus water was something was she very familiar with. Sure, she didn't swim through any sinking ships, but she wasn't afraid of the setting she was being placed in either. At least not until she had to get into the starting place that was her cabin. Unlike the second and third floors of the ship, the level they were on was dark. A few places here and there had light, but it wasn't well lit at all at the starting point. This put Lani at a disadvantage when it came to her quirk. Not to mention the darkness made her really uncomfortable. Unlike her classes, Lani wasn't wearing her costume. Without an official license, it wasn't her place to wear it outside of the classroom environment. What she did wear was the last bit of summer she was going to enjoy for a while. A rainbow striped swimsuit top and black denim shorts were all that really covered her body. If she was going to get wet in this exercise, it was best not to be too covered up and bogged down by the water. She had her hair tied up and clipped to make herself more comfortable with the exercise she was about to do. And even though she didn't have her costume with her, she did bring the guard to her sword, the Rainbow Road. That was something she owned personally and since she knew she was going to be observed with her quirk, Lani wanted to make sure she had the item she felt most comfortable using it with. It hung from the belt loops on her shorts as she waited in the room each person was assigned to, Lani waited silently in the room as everything was put into place. And only once the voice started to play over the speaker did she stand up and look toward the door that was going to let her out. Masumi's words explained things to them and Lani listened carefully to what they had to do. It all seemed simple enough. They had to escape the ship with the six dummies hidden around the place. There were even diving suits given out for those that needed them. As far as Lani could tell she wasn't going to need one. They were still close enough to the surface that she could swim a good distance before getting too cold or needing air. The water pressure wasn't serious enough to need a suit since the ship wasn't all that deep. She would take some diving gear though, just in case she needed some air while swimming. And once things started, Lani made her way out into the hall that touched her room. Her first goal was to look for any identifying markers in the dark. signs, emergency information plackets, anything that would give her a sense of where she was at and where she needed to go. She needed to move quickly to the second floor just so that she could have more light around her. Additionally, Lani wanted to make sure she gathered the other participants together so that they could work together as a group. So naturally, the first thing she did was call out to the others while she kept an eye out for anything of note around her that she could see or feel. "Hello!? ANyone else close by!? We should stick together!"644 | @tagged | notes ulla

Why on Earth was she here doing Hero stuff? Well, actually for a few reasons. First, she was drunk when making this decision. Two, she was curious what was the great appeal in saving people. Thats why Meiko signed up for this silly test in civillian. Though, being placed in a sinking ship, surrounded by probably future heroes or heroes or hero enthusiasts who were hopeful and wanted to save people. She felt like a black sheep who was a lamb brought for the slaughter. Regretting this already "You chose this Meiko and now you gotta deal with it" Meiko said as she now heard a voice through the speaker giving her instructions on what to do
Meiko sighed and took of her shirt right away. Luckily she brought some plain jane disposable shirt, so she didnt lose anything precious. She had to do this, because: a) She was most likely gonna swim, b) For her quirk to work, she needed to have exposed skin. After she heard the instructions of Masumi. She made her game plan. Go to the floor with the diving gear, but only grab the breathing apparatus, not the entire diving frog suit. Clothes and the suit would disable her weapon summoning quirk. She just needed something to breathe "I'm not smart with maths, time and ship stuff. I need to breathe and I dunno how capable these people are when it comes to sinking a ship" Meiko thought to herself, feeling extra cautious due to her unfortunate circumstances.
Finally though, she felt everything started. She started to move, not slowly, but not quickly as well. Just being extra cautious. As she was leaving her area though, she thought she hear a voice. A female voice, calling if anyone was close by. And considering 2 heads were better then 1. Meiko thought, maybe it was best to team up. Worst case scenario, she gets a human shield "HELLO??!! PERSON!!! I AM HERE!! I WILL MAKE MY WAY TO YOU!!!" she yelled out to the girl voice. And carefully and cautiously started to make her way to the direction of the voice

Wow. This is very poorly lit. It’s almost like they set us up to fail. Masaki thought, more comfortable spending time in his head when he was feeling anxious. Having signed up for this on a whim but didn’t really know what he was getting into until it was explained – whether this was some horror showcase or real danger was something he had only found out once starting. A rescue operation. Good thing, I’ve been attending class.
From his starting point, he looked around and was barely able to make anything out. It was both cool and dark, his eyes would need time to adjust to the darkness, but they would only barely do so. However, Masaki possessed a clear advantage. He was the resident master of magnetism trapped in a steel prison, while the ship may have been sinking to a watery grave – he had no intention of joining it. It was rare for Masaki to become cocky, but he was confident in his abilities in this place. But who wouldn’t when the environment itself was a sandbox of possibility to them?
Before exiting the cabin, he closed his eyes as his quirk painted a picture of his immediate environment. As expected, tight and narrow corridors of steel. I should watch my step. However, there was too much metal to paint an accurate picture to him. Thus, he decided not to overextend any further. Masaki opened his eyes and began to step out of his cabin.
Adorning very simple clothes, he was aware that he would be getting wet. It was a battleship after all. A white t-shirt, a beige pair of shorts, and easy to slip on gray shoes – Masaki was a walking portrait of a guy some people would love to hate and maybe even punch flat in the face. This was only aided by his ever-present smile. He wasn’t smiling in the face of danger as much as he was trying to look friendly, just in case he saw someone else or they saw him. Not that it would be easy to make him out and he didn't realize how creepy he would look if found him creeping around in the dark smiling.
Not long after the start, voices began to sound off.
The first one sounded like… Lani? Yes, it has to be. Masaki nodded his head, happy to hear a familiar voice. While he didn’t know her very well, anything beat traversing chaos alone. However, he stopped and started to second guess himself. What if it wasn’t her? What if these were speakers playing her voice to trick me? he naturally began thinking a little too hard about this. He avoided his third line of thought, that it was just a ghost. He didn’t believe in them.
A second voice followed, much louder and saying much more in response to the other. He had no idea who this was, but she was much louder. However, their logic made sense. If there were others, it was in their best interest to try and convene. He decided to call out as well and added a little extra to the strategy, for efficiencies sake.
“Hello! If anyone else is close, follow the sound of these taps! I'll start heading towards the first voice!” Masaki lightly tapped his knuckles rhythmically against the metal wall, trying to avoid disturbing the environment. The silence of the area would allow the sound to travel and would provude a more precise location in regular intervals. He started walking in the direction Lani’s voice had originated from, his first of likely many tough decisions.

After a moment or two of reflection, Kaling realized that he was thinking of his quirk, his AI friend, only of a battle quirk made to inhabit his robotic frame and fight alongside him. The specialized test that military opened made that even more evident, if he was going to abe of any use on a situation like that, he couldn’t just rely on his father’s work, he would need to improvise… To think outside of the box.
Kaling was sitting on his cabin, nervously looking at the waterproof camera that he brought alongside him for the exercise, while he didn’t know the exact details about what was going to happen, it was common logic that heavy robots and water didn’t go well together, so he decided to try something new, instead of using his friend as a muscle to help him in fights and tight situations, he would use him as a scout, letting him watch his back in dangerous moments and using to take a peek places that were hard to reach or to dangerous to stick your head in to look.
He then raised his head as someone started explaining the exercise through the speakers, while the exercise looked simple in theory, Kaling knew it would probably be one of toughest tests he had until now. Navigating through the ship wasn’t going to be an easy task. IN anticipation to the beginning of the test, the boy stood up and tied up his camera to a wrist wrap, to make sure it wouldn’t get lost. He just finished being sure that his black shorts were tied up correctly and that his white T-shirt wouldn’t wrangle up with his wrist wrap when trying to remove it, and the door of his cabin then opened.
The hall outside of his cabin lacked any form of illumination, and it seemed like there was no indication on which way he needed to go to get to the upper level,, with the clock ticking, or rather, the water rising, he couldn’t lose too much time navigating this place and had to find a more efficient way out. He then heard a female voice in the distance, calling everyone to stick together, but it was so hard to pinpoint her location in that maze of steel corridors, that it would take too much of their precious time to group up if they didn’t have a better strategy to find each other.
He then heard a second which accepted the call and was grouping up, but it was only when he heard a third voice that he decided to give the grouping up plan a try, with the sound of the taps on the wall, it was going to a lot easier to find everyone. He then also decided to improvise a bit, turning his camera on, but not activating his quirk yet, and held it high with his left arm, to use the light from the camera screen as a “small flashlight”, while it didn’t improve his own vision too much, it would make it easier for anyone to find him because of a glowing screen in the dark.
-Hey, I’m also making my way to you guys, I’m following the sound of your taping. If you see a small glowing screen in the middle of the dark, that’s probably me! - Kaling yelled to warm everyone about his plans, while he started to march in the others direction a bit recklessly, sticking his head near the wall, to hear the sound from the tapping more clearly. - Also, remember to pay attention to our surroundings, it would be easy to go right past the exit and not notice if you’re a bit distracted! - He warned them, to make sure nobody would forget that while focusing on finding each other.

| ◀ | The heart is a heavy burden ❤ Rowan had this weird sense of feelings at this point, she was a-okay relaxed because she had done a rescue mission with Miku in a half sunken ship, only now they were sinking and she had no diving gear yet which made her in a half form of panic. Which she told herself while waiting in the cabin was not a good thing to do. Panic only would blind her and miss the point of return probably. She was perhaps also not entirely satisfied with the instructors that were around, she did not trust Masami for what she had done to her and Miku the first time they met. Where she had said that diving gear was only a luxury and now she sort of offered it. There must be something that Masami would change to do or Daia to only make it more difficult and well, be biased about their quirks and abilities.
She waited, leaning, as she tried to be casual, against the back of her cabin and staring at the camera that she could see clearly. She knew Masami must watch over them as the school would obviously not allow them to kill off their students and the state would not allow the killing of civilians so she had to remind herself that she was basically safe. She bit her lip softly as she listened to the instructions from the voice she disliked, it did not help to form her own assumptions now, she needed to get out of this rescue mission with a good feeling about it.
She hugged herself, watched her slender legs in the sports legging that she had picked and her all-stars. She was wearing the most casual shirt and her hair, as usual, was up in a bun. This time, she was prepared for getting wet. When the door opened, she looked up, wondering if they really had ten minutes or that something would go wrong. She stepped out of the cabin, heard people yell and re-thought her previous thought. Would they sink faster if they all assembled at the same point, would there be a balance. Yet she did not plan to do this all by herself because she would probably get lost easy and not remember the ways she had seen before. She thought she recognized the voice of Masaki, which was a nice idea that he was around too. The others she did not recognize now, but perhaps it had to do with the echoing sound. The voices were far off, so she believed that she was quite far away.
She first simply followed the sound of the tapping but heard a fourth voice who admitted he would be following along as well, so it was perhaps better to say something. She tried to not hurry too much, but as it sounded so far off, she did not want to hold up everyone and yet tried to narrow the halls down in her mind as she had to already figure out a lot of things before she would eventually reach the place. However, before doing so she decided to yell out too, definitely not her favourite part of the rescue mission, "I am here too, I am trying to get close as soon as possible, you all sound very far away!" |

Why did Kanna get roped into the rescue area...? After spending most of this time around the combat or armory areas, she picked one crucial moment to visit this part of the military base, and now here she was, signed up for the rescue test. She didn't really understand why, but on some level she'd rather refrain from showing the army everything her Quirk could do when used offensively: During this test, she'd have all eyes on her, just like any other participant on any other test. Yet as she waited in her cabin, Kanna had been doing what she did best the whole time, far from idle as she awaited the start of the test. Even though she'd look to be doing nothing more than typing away at her phone: "Got everything I need... Now lets see what else they got in store.", she'd muse, fiddling with her watch, already clad in a bare legged wetsuit. Only it wasn't really a watch, but a high tech diving computer she'd purchased not so long ago, and fully tinkered with its software. The digital display might be far too simple to run a complex User Interface, yet it had a good enough processor for a girl like Kanna to make far greater use of it than most would dream possible. By cross referencing a gps tracker with closest she could get to blueprints, she could read constant updates on her position to help navigate the ship. Together with her smartphone - carefully protected inside a waterproof case - she could also tap into the myriad cameras used to evaluate them, as well as each and every electronic nearby.
Naturally, doing something like this took time... For this reason Kanna had arrived earlier than expected, using every minute taken to initiate the exercise to her advantage, scrounging as much information as humanly possible. She memorized every path she'd moved through on the way to the cabins, relying on her own memory as well as the electronics', casually running her hand over the ship's walls as she walked past it, doing what she did best. And now that the examiner's voice pierced through the air, accomanied by a rumbling of the colossal metallic vessel they were on, the blonde narrowed her eyes and listened. "Well then... Let's get to work.", thinking out loud, the blonde stretched her arms and legs in various ways as the doors slowly opened... And once they opened, she immediately found herself in pitch black darkness. Not a problem. Grabbing her phone, she turned on the flashlight, lighting the way back and racing through it, "I made a left here... Then a right..." She heard some voices piercing through the darkness, none close enough to do anything about it... Not that she would have... If she deviated from the path she remembered, she'd have to find it again, which would slow her down significantly. Anybody who signed up for this exercise without being able to memorize that much proabably wouldn't pass it anyway. Sure, she could always just use her GPS, but without complete blueprints to this fucking maze, finding her way again would be a hassle. Thus she ran as fast as she could with water already reaching as high as her calves, and higher every second. Everyone's voices kept getting louder, some faster, some slower, all of them seemed to be making way to the right path. Kanna found it pointless to waste her lungs shouting. Instead, she announced her presence far more vehemently, banging her fist against the metallic walls of the vessel. Not nearly with enough strength to damage it, but enough for the sound to reverberate through the structure: Clang! Clang! Eventually, her paths crossed with one of the people she actually recognized on the way - Rowan, one of her own classmates. She'd all but breeze past the dark haired girl, phone flashlight in hand while rythmically banging on the wall: "Oh, Rowan...?", she'd mumble, jade green orbits catching sight of the girl, barely slowing down her run as she motioned the girl after her. The cool water had now risen up to her knees, splashing around with every motion; running was getting harder by the second. They had no time to waste on pleasantries, "Come on you're on the right path."

Masumi watched the first moments of the exercise with a mixture of curiosity and anxiety on her face. It was difficult for her to put into words, but in a way she really wanted to see what sort of approach people like them would take. She dismissed quite a few of the participants almost right away. Yes, many of them were kids thrust into a potentially dangerous situation, but she still didn't like how careful and reluctant they were being. Precious time was being wasted on practically nothing. Of course, they weren't completely incompetent, quite a few had gotten the idea to call out to others and even used some form of signaling to make it easier for the other to find them. She couldn't say she blamed them too much. Strength in numbers was a concept she could relate to, both as a person and as a military officer. Although she payed close attention to how things were unfolding, she did also scoff and turn away from the screen for a moment. Why was she bothering to actually evaluate them? That wasn't her goal. Perhaps it was the mix of fear and curiosity that made her think deeper about how they were performing, but she quickly banished the thought as she refocused herself on what her actual objective was. The first stage was the easiest and had the least number of hazards to worry about, it didn't mean she couldn't waste their time there as well. With how fast the water levels inside the ship were rising, she wouldn't be surprised if some of them did not make it past the first floor. In the time it took them to all out to each other and meet up, the water levels had already risen above ankle height. Masumi expected the negative effects to be twofold. For one, just the sensation of cold water, slowly creeping up one's leg while lost in the dark should be enough to cause some amount of panic. However, that wasn't all, the higher the water level was the harder it was to move around. It was a positive feedback loop. The more time they spent there, the higher the water level and the higher the water level the more time they'd take to get to the next floor. Despite all of that, the secret to the challenge before them was a simple one. The hallways had several plaques scattered on the walls, usually some twenty to thirty meters apart. Each plaque had something engraved on it. Dots and lines. It was morse code. There were two types of plaques on the first level. The first category simply spelled out "DEAD END", making it clear that the direction they were facing would not lead them anywhere. The other variant was a bit more complicated, in contained simple instructions such as "left, right, forward, left", indicating the right path to take. The exit was some five to seven plaques away from their starting position, assuming they all navigated and read the signs flawlessly it wouldn't take them more than a couple minutes to get out. However one girl did catch Masumi's eyes. Looking at the files, her name was Kanna and she was making remarkably fast progress towards the exit without even being aware of the plaques. Masumi found herself smirking. Though there was a possibility that the girl was cheating, or even using some sort of quirk Masumi's gut told her that she had simply remembered the way. It was impressive, a fear she could appreciate even if it wasn't the point of the exercise. No, in fact Masumi liked the method more than anything she was supposed to officially evaluate. Although it almost pleased her to see it... it also made Masumi a bit more spiteful towards the girl. The idea that they were more than their quirks, even though they seemed to focus on them so obsessively. She almost got it into her head that Kanna was provoking her, but dismissed the thought as pure paranoia and agitation. Still, that did not mean that she wasn't going to act. She did decided that she would waste as much of their time as possible even if she'd struggle to eliminate any of them that early. She wasn't about to make an exception for some girl who just seemed a tad bit more bright than the average person. A couple button presses later, a door which had been on the path Kanna had been brought in trough closed shut. It was a massive steel door with several pins holding it in place, practically immovable even for most quirks. With that the path Kanna remembered became a useless one. Some of the plaques which directed people towards that path were also rendered useless as a result. Though Masumi could not close the exit completely, she could eliminate individual routes and force them to adapt. The door closing produced a loud bang, which reverberated throughout the entire ship. Masumi leaned back with a satisfied smile and watched on. She was rather excited to see how all the participants would react. ____ @sugo Kanna Kusanagi Kaling Takahashi Lani Bijan Meiko Hagane Rowan Sakamoto And with this the posting order is officially in effect. these rapid eyes will keep on moving After Lani spoke up, a number of other voices spoke up as well. What was important to Lani here was to count how many other people were able to respond and how far away those sounds were With the voices echoing through the metal corridors, that was going to prove difficult, but she could get a relative guess based on who she heard first. The further away they were, the longer it took for their voices to reach Lani and vice versa. Of course, there were a number of reasons they could be responding late, but that was the only real information that Lani could go on right now.
Based on what she heard there were four others besides herself. Since Kanna did not respond, Lani didn't know if she was there or if she couldn't respond at all. But based on what she did here, she had at least one classmate with her. Masaki's voice stood out over the rest as she had heard it in class before. She didn't interact with the boy much and made a note to change that in the future, but it was good to know that she had a classmate with her. The first voice she heard was more adult, but Lani didn't recognize it. And after Masaki was another newer classmate. She knew even less about this one and kicked herself for not getting to know the boys in the class more. A light chuckle left her lips as she remembered that the beginning of the school year had her class 1-B basically be an all girl's class. Things changed so quickly.
She placed her hand on the wall next to her and continued forward as she listened out and finally heard Rowan's voice. Seemed everyone was okay and trying to make their way toward everyone else. However, their time was limited. The water was rising and was ankle length. Lani wasn't too worried. She could swim well enough that she could traverse the floor even with it higher up. She just needed to make sure she found the exit before she ran out of breathing air. She didn't know the swimming capabilities of the others, however, so it was important that she got everyone else out first. For now, she was going to follow Masaki's tapping sounds. It was the only constant noise and the best way for them to meet up. "Alright! Just keep it up!" Lani yelled out to confirm that she heard what Masaki had said. And as she moved toward the sound, Lani noticed something odd. Occasionally, her hand would move over a bump on the wall. It wasn't a small one either. It was a long bump that was different than the metal that was on the first floor and the thin supports that sectioned off the hall and frames. What were those?
The girl stopped for a moment at the next one. They were spaced pretty evenly apart, so it wasn't just a coincidence that they were there. Were they important? She placed her palm up against the bump and felt around it. It was a rectangle. The edges were buffered fillets and there was a more solid plate on the top. Indents were on the plate, almost as if they were trying to spell something out. However, whatever was on it wasn't letters. They were too thin and small to be a letter. What else would be on what Lani could only assume was a sign? Were they evacuation plans or what? She couldn't figure it out because she didn't know Morse code, but it was possible that others did. "Hey! Pay attention to the walls! There's some message written on some signs! They aren't letters though..." Hopefully, if someone was able to figure them out, they could escape the first floor in a flash. ulla

After hearing Voice 1, she heard a male voice she dubbed as Voice 2, who said would make some taps and stuff. Then another male voice she dubbed Voice 3, who said something about a glowing screen, and lastly she heard another girl voice she called Voice 4. Meiko was luckily the closest to Voice 1 and tried to make her way towards the first person she heard. She noticed that the water reached her ankles which was bad. She wasnt really a genius, but from watching movies, its not the lack of air she learned that could kill them. It was the water pressure. The higher level of water, the harder would be to open and close doors, the harder to move, they can get trapped and not be able to open a door to freedom and THEN they can die of suffocation. While sure they needed to be careful, they needed to be swift.
She made her way to Voice 1 who luckily yelled out "Alright! Just keep it up!", thus giving Meiko navigation where to go to. The voice was naturally moving as this time it sounded closer, it wasnt as far as it was before, which made Meiko glad. From the sound of things Voice 1 went towards the tapping noise. So even if Meiko didnt hear Voice 1 again, she was gonna find it and the person it belongs to
Carefuly, navigating the halls she once again heard Voice 1, who spoke that they should pay attention to the walls. But this time, the voice sounded way closer, it was maybe like down the hall Meiko called out once again "Voice 1! Female voice 1!! Im right behind you!! Or ahead of you!! I cant tell where you are, but you're close to me! And maybe even straight of me! Im coming to you!" she yelled out, but not as loud as before as her target was closer Determined, Meiko moved a slightly faster pace to meet up with the person she heard. She was eager to be with any human living being.

Clearly, there was no shortage of people in here. It did little to fill him with confidence, but it did make him feel slightly better. Each of them was doing their own thing, some of them very similar things.
Masaki recognized Rowan's voice among some of the others, apparently, he knew more people than he thought he did. Ankle deep in water, he felt cold and uncomfortable. Likely a part of the challenge itself; the fear generated by the situation was meant to overwhelm them. His feet sloshed through the water with each step, creating poorly lit ripples while the water continued to slowly rise. Lani spoke out, giving some much-needed information. The place was too poorly lit to see but knowing that there were strange bumps in the walls was always an advantage. Masaki took a moment to look and feel around the ships walls to find any near him.
Finally finding some of these strange bumps, Masaki put on his entirely metaphorical thinking cap. Whoever was putting them through his challenge seriously underestimated the groups intelligence. Chiefly, his intelligence. Hmmm... is it braille? Masaki thought, continuing to run his fingers along the bumps. No, there aren't any long lines in braille. These indentations are much longer and the space between them is too wide, so it must be Morse Code. Masaki established in his head. Too bad, of the many things he did know about - how to fluently read Morse Code was not among them.
"Good catch, these messages are in old Morse Code" Masaki said loud enough for the ragtag crew to hear. While he added the word 'old', he had a respect for timeless techniques such as this. "The frequency of the bumps and their length determines the letters. This one is ESS-OH-ESS" he gave them all a quick lesson and demonstration of the most common code, S.O.S. Quite ironic. He tapped three times quickly, then slowly three times, followed by another final quick three taps. "Unfortunately, I don't know all the letters. BUT unless someone knows more or can get that information now, it won't be of much help."
Masaki hadn't let speaking stop him from trying to make progress, he continued to walk through the maze. The answers to the puzzle were likely embedded in these messages. But they were on the clock, so it was best not to bank on anyone knowing it. He turned left towards and started to briskly walk through the water. He finally caught up to a mysterious figure in the darkness and wasn't sure who it was.
"Hello?" he crept up on Kaling with a smile. Creepy. There wasn't much time to waste though, he paused for a moment and waved a hand for him to keep moving. He presumed the person was friendly, boy he hoped he wasn't wrong. "Walk and talk."-- Kaling Takahashi

The water was quickly rising quickly, time definitely wasn’t on their side, Kaling could already feel the cold water on his ankle, with both feets already totally immersed, which didn’t only make him uncomfortable, but also made walking around the steel corridors of the ship a bit more harder and tiring.
He payed attention as someone started speaking again, about some odd bumps on the walls of the ship, he then used the small screen of his camera to produce some light and check for any of them on the walls, he then noticed that there were indeed some kind of plaques in the wall… And scribed on them were… dots and lines? Was that some kind of secret code? But fortunately, the same voice who had the idea to use the tapping sound on the walls to help everyone find each other, also shed some light on that mystery, the messages were all in morse code, but unfortunately, he said that he didn’t know any other letters besides S and O.
Kaling then tried his best to remember any letters in morse code, it was once used in the comics by two heroes, Dark Law and Vapor man when they were tied by a super villain, while he monologued, both heroes communicates by taps in morse code, it even had a cheat sheet for you to decode the message in the end of the comic! But the only letters he could remember were the ones who were either a sequence of only dots or only lines, he hoped that it would be enough help them find the exit.
When he was going to start trying to decipher the message on the plaque, he felt someone approaching him, he turned around, and a saw boy, probably another student judging by his age, he had a somewhat… creepy smile on his face, but when he said “hello”, Kaling recognize his voice from before. - Oh, Hello, you’re the one who recognized the code morse, right? Good catch! -Kaling praised him, and then made a sign with his hand for him to stop for a second. - Wait, I think I might able to read this damn thing… - He said, as he turned back to the plaque to decipher it’s contents… ?I?HT… He didn’t know the first and third letters, but by logic, the third one could only be an G… ?IGHT… a lot of words ended like that, but judging by the situation, only a few made any sense. - It’s a five letters word ending with Ight, the only things I can assume here is that it’s either telling us to go right, or to find or follow the lights… but since there’s no light’s here, I suggest we turn right! - He told masaki, and then started walking to the right, already looking for the next plaque to see if his theory was right. - Alright people! I remember some letters from the code, so listen up! One dot is E, two dots is I, four dots is H! One line is T, two lines is M and I discovered now that two lines followed by a dot is G! Even if you guys don’t know all the letters, sometimes you can guess the word using the information you have! - He yelled, as he walked through the corridor, only stopping for a brief moment when a loud metal noise reverberated through the ship, something happened. - Did you hear that? Either something very heavy was shutdown, or an hallway collapsed… Either way, let’s keep close to each other, or we will risk being separated by things like that. - He warned the other boy, with noticeable tension on his voice, while they’re were making progress, Kaling was sure that there would a lot of danger and traps waiting for them.

| ◀ | The heart is a heavy burden ❤ As she came at a crossing, she was wondering which way to go, it was difficult to make an idea and the sounds seemed to be coming from everywhere. The knocking to her right, some voices to her left or in front of her and she knew that she had to hurry but she had to make a decision and properly base it on something. That's when a blonde girl showed up and she felt the tense feeling leave her shoulders as she recognized Kanna. She turned to follow Kanna immediately, trying to be as soon as her friend was now that the water was around her ankles, she felt the cold and it made her shiver. It was okay that they were moving, that kept her at least active and a bit warmer.
She heard the other voices and noticed the sort of symbols at the crossings but she followed Kanna without much further ado, she had no idea how to read it now that she believed Masaki said that it was morse code. She only couldn't help but let out a yelp when a door slammed shut before them and she could at least stop on time before she would bump into it. "We have to go that way, right?" She asked Kanna and stared at it with disgust, oh... so apart from it already being a maze, they also changed the directions. Would that make the plates on the walls useless or could they change those magically too?
She looked at her hand, believing that the door might be thick, she knew she had opened once one with Miku and that had been even more difficult. "Take a step back, I will open this up again." She said and was determined to do something about it, at least the good thing was that she bumped into Kanna. "Take a step back." She walked towards the door with two more steps forward and placed her hand on the middle, only lifting it up, so it would be easy to crawl through as soon as she had fixed this.
She focused shortly by closing her eyes and taking a deep breath and activated her quirk which set into motion by a warm feeling in her hand. She took a few steps back to give the door space. It wouldn't work on the whole door, it wouldn't get further than the one by one area around where her hand touched and it gave them a little of about 15 centimetres around it. The whole was big enough to crawl through and as soon as the explosion had finished she looked at Kanna, "This way so to say?" She expected another door to stop them but she could do this a few more times before the consequences would be annoying.
Perhaps they should call people towards here but she let that to Kanna. Perhaps they would come over to the sound of the explosion anyway. |

"Yeah, that way.", nodded Kanna, making a quick turn right and urging Rowan after her. She'd never bothered learning to read morse code, but it was a code like any other, so with a phone in hand she could effectively read and decypher it. Information was her game after all, and with a challenge like this, Kanna clearly felt at home... But at the same time, even if she could potentially crack that code, she didn't really need to, "So long as we stay on this path, we won't need that code."
Everything seemed to be going well, possibly too well. Kanna moved while her memory remained fresh and vivid, not that it would fade too much with time but a clear picture was always easier to follow. Before they could get too far, a splashing step ground to a halt as a out of nowhere, a colossal metal door closed shut, barring the path she remembered and making her click her tongue. This was obviously not accidental, and Kanna hated feeling like a rat in a maze. So the proctors were wirelessly connected to the ship to issue their commands huh...? That wasn't really surprising, indeed, Kanna already somewhat expected it... But she never guessed they'd actively try to so actively interfere with the progress: "Mendokuseee...!", she groaned, scratching her head, but nonetheless making a quick decision, on the fly. Once you do know the way out, it could very well be preferrable to simply find a way to clear it then to try and seek an alternate path that may or may not exist. Especially with the clock ticking as such. So she approached the wall, examing in the hinges. She had a good idea of how long it would take her to make her way back, and also the rate of the rising waters. This calculation gave her a very clear estimate of just how quickly she could make it to the exit as such, and how much time she could afford to try and waste here to try and get the door open: The only unknown variable laid in the time it might take her to unlock it, and how many more of those the proctor could slam shut on a whim. Assuming they weren't outright trying to kill them all in this metallic tomb, there had to be a way out. Before she could actually start hacking her way not through the door, but the controls used to shut it down, Rowan stepped up, urgig her back. Shooting her an interested, but understanding gaze, the blonde nodded and stepped back. She didn't have to be a genious to figure out exactly what the girl be up to, and preferred this option over revealing her Quirk with enemy eyes on her. And thus with a small, concentrated blast, her classmate blew open a gap large enough for them to pull through, but not strong enough to rip the sinking ship apart at the seams. It still would have taken them a fair bit of time, yet thus far, Kanna still prefered keeping track of how much time she'd spent and how much further she'd need to make it to the exit. And having Rowan around really helped with that: "Ooooh...? Y'know Rowan, I'm pretty sure I told you this before... But that's a really convenient Quirk.", she'd state, smirking, really sure she should proabably remind her classmate of just how useful her ability could prove. She'd never seen her produce large flames, so one might consider her power paled in comparison to the likes of Yumi and Jasmine. Once they'd gotten through the first obstacle, Kanna ran forth, continuing her rhythmic banging on the walls of the ship to signal her advance to whatever allies nearby. They'd been making steady progress but once again, she wouldn't go out of her way to reunite with any of the voices, not if that meant she'd get lost. But keeping on the right path did come in handy at times, as before long they ran into yet another figure... Someone else the blonde knew all too well, for different reasons: "Huh, Meiko...? What the hell are you doing here?!", interjected Kanna, eyes widened, baffled for the first time since this whole exericise began. She'd met the purple haired beauty on a wild, drugged up night at a club, and almost wondered just how much the girl actually remembered with how much she'd drunk. It actually took her a while of looking into that girl's eyes - sober for the first time - to feel the water rising along her calves and remember what she was doing, "We'll talk later, now we gotta get the hell outta dodge. It's this way...!"
They'd defenitely traded no words as to what they did outside the club, not that Kanna would admit to being a hero in training, just as Meiko wouldn't really admit to her line of work or anything. But of all the places they could meet again, this might have been Kanna's last pick... She probably should have introduced Meiko and Rowan, but the associal blonde didn't even think about that...

They weren't completely stupid. Masumi wasn't completely sure if that just annoyed her or if it caused a modicum of respect to form in her. Though whatever praise she had to give didn't count for much. Though some seemed to be figuring out what the idea of the exercise was, it didn't mean they were any good at actually executing it. Never mind the fact that they were incredibly slow and sloppy in their approach, but most didn't seem to know what to do with the signs telling them where to go anyway. Masumi wasn't used to this sort of thing. The army expected efficiency and quickness. Even if they had quirks it seemed to help very little with those aspects of problem-solving. At the end of the day it didn't matter. it would be their doom and it'd make the job easier for Daia if fewer of them made it out of the ship anyway. The water had already risen to about knee level and they had maybe some three minutes left before the first level of the ship was fully submerged. Dealing with cold seawater in a tight enclosed space was anything but pleasant. Masumi did pay special attention to the girl who had been making good progress so far. Sure enough the door closing in her face seemed to stump her, but her friend had other plans than to just give up. Though Masumi wasn't sure at first, it quickly became apparent that the girl was going to use her quirk. At first Masumi laughed the idea off in her head. It was a solid steel door, more akin to the entrance to a safe or vault than a simple construct to separate two rooms. Yet, despite it seeming absolutely impossible a hole was blasted in the steel. Just big enough to squeeze trough. Masumi was almost caught in a moment of shock and disbelief, staring at the two girls as they made their way past the obstacle. Though she didn't want to take her eyes off them for even a second, she couldn't resist the urge to look at the door one more time before moving on. Zooming in as much as she could, Masumi closely examined the door and the hole that was made in it. It was... rust. Rust had built up between the plates of the door and had reduced its structural integrity to almost nil. The idea that a quirk would let someone bypass an obstacle that could make normal people despair or give up outright was one Masumi could stomach. It didn't make her happy but she could at least put up with it. However what she couldn't bear was the idea that those with quirks, even in situations where they were supposed to fail, where their powers and abilities weren't enough to let them snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, they still managed to pull trough because of a fluke or pure chance. Of course none of this was the girl's fault. One of the doors in the ship hadn't be maintained and was on the verge of falling apart. Never mind a quirk, a good kick could have had a similar effect. But, it didn't matter to Masumi. She had already singled out the girl with the explosion quirk. There was little she could do in this phase, but later she'd make sure to make things living hell for her. Assuming she made it that far that is. It might have been sheer spite, but the military woman hardly saw anything wrong with that. The event had put her in enough of a bad mood that she casually hit a few buttons on the control panel. Two more doors shut on the ship. She was going to cut off escape points as they came up, make people waste some time first and then irritate them and make them panic by closing the doors right in front of them, but she was past the point of caring that much. At this point she only wanted to see them drown faster. ___ @sugo Kanna Kusanagi Kaling Takahashi Lani Bijan Rowan SakamotoTerribly sorry for the late post. I somehow completely missed the tag. Next time, please if I don't post in a couple of days poke me. A little side note here, Rowan, your quirk is E rank and nowhere near close to strong enough to blast its way trough a steel door. Since stuff already happened I covered for it here, but please keep that in mind for the future, if it happens again there's going to be bigger consequences.
