Alright, fuck it. This was getting absolutely ridiculous, actually. In such a short amount of time, in one single morning where he decided to get up early and come over, he had already fought TWO swordfighters. Yes, he very much expected to spar with people and that was quite alright with him, though two people with the same love for swords? It seemed almost stupidly convenient to someone who had just begun experimenting with his own style of bladesmanship to be faced with two swordsmen back to back. The fights weren't easy either, they were both talented, though different in their own rights. One of them had even gotten a pretty good cut on his designer tracksuit jacket.
No biggie, he'll just get it replaced, it's not a bodypart or anything, it just costed a few thousand yen. He has lost more before.
Dressed in a combo of designer black with white streaks tracksuit pants and a now cut down the middle tracksuit jacket, Maximillian was spending his time now not moving around and directly practicing but, instead, meditating. Indeed, something he barely ever did in his life, only once or twice when he was a kid in a therapist's shitty attempt to calm his uncontrollable temper down, at which point his parents promptly gave up. Now, though, with him being older, having experienced unkown hardship in failing, self doubt and a severe, though occasional feeling of homesickness (of his parents, never of his shite country), he was giving it a try again.
The blades levitated quietly around him. Six polished, shining ice blades that quietly floated around the boy, their natural state while Maxi's mind didn't directly control them, though it still chose to not drop them. Instead, his energy was focused inwardly. How had it come to this, really? An unmotivated, constantly depressed person whose great confidence only lied with his own intelligence and powerful quirk choosing to take the tremendous hardship that was joining a strict program as its first set of students. For something that was already supposed to be difficult, he had chosen to join it when it was a project in its infancy: bound to have flaws, errors, miscalculations.
Fights before had just left him broken and bruised, once, even forever marked. People, at least for the most part during the start, they seemed to just reject him outright, to avoid him so that they wouldn't even need to talk to him. In any other case, he'd have given up, chosen to do go do something else, to follow an easier, more comfortable carreer. He didn't need to put himself through this.
It was undeniable though. These were the beast years of his life. Indeed, through all these hardships, problems and issues. Through the humiliation, nightmares and hatred he felt for once specific person, he had never felt as happy and accomplished as he did this very moment. For once, he had taken the reins on his life and rammed it directly to a much more exciting road of his life. Instead of going through the boring, safe road, he chose the much more dangerous, exciting one. It was a change of pace not even he thought was possible, coming from himself. It proved to him. It proved to him that he wasn't a lost cause, that even he was capable of doing great things. For this, he'd continue to do great things.
Thoughts, Thoughts. As exposed as he was, anyone could easily approach him.

This military thing was fucking awesome. Everything about it was great to Eli, maybe he should switch careers? Nah despite everything he wouldn't let someone look down on him because they had some rank or ribbon that he didn't possess. Even so, he loved the activities here. Obstacle courses, sparring, rescue training and much more, it was a place filled with everything you needed to train in if you wanted to be an amazing hero. He really appreciated the militaries resources, regardless of their rank and awards that made them pricks.
He had done a few runs of the obstacle course and rescue training exercises so he decided he should go to the combat area also known as the sparring place next. Of all the people to spar with there, the first he saw was Maxi. "Time for a rematch!" he shouted across the area. "You beat me last time Maxi, you think you can do it again? I'm excited to find out aren't you!" Elis blood was pumping, nothing gave him a rush quite like the anticipation of a fight, it was exhilarating for him. Nothing could beat it, not a sugar rush, not some stupid book he hated reading, not even getting into mischief with Darren and becoming a delinquent, though it was a close second. Nothing was good enough to get Eli as excited as he was, and now it was a rematch too. He had a chance at redemtion and you best believe he was gonna take it.
While Eli recognized Maxi with ease, Eli was less recognizable. He had worn his hero costume to the military's gracious event. It was compromised of a a blue hood that was currently down, 3 black straps in the middle connecting to a center diamond, blue pants with red diamond in the middle on the outside edges, black shoes, and blue and red striped sleeves. Eli took note of Maxis plain look, white striped tracksuit pants? With a black base color? Eli was gonna have to teach this guy some style, or at least get Darren or someone to do it. Of course the cut in the middle of Nazi's tracksuit should've made it obvious to anyone that he had just fought and was resting, but while Eli noticed he didn't care much. 'So what if he's a little bruised, not like it was an even fight for us in the first place so it's fine.' He thought, he really needed to check his ego at some point.
As Eli approached Maxi, he noticed six floating ice blades, he had already prepared for another showdown. So Eli himself prepared, creating the self proclaimed classic Destroy Maxi sword and shield combo! That he had used in their first encounter because if at first you don't succeed, use the same weapons and expect a differentooutcome. That is the saying, right?

This was beyond ridiculous at this point, how the hell could he be there, quietly waiting, legs crossed and simply meditating be challenged, by the third time in a row, by someone who used swords!? Sure, of course, Eli himself could theoretically create so many more different things with his diamonds, though what the hell was up with his originality? Didn’t he even know the most basic rule of fighting?
Rule of Fighting!: “If you do something and it doesn’t work, don’t try the exact same thing again.” What was he doing, one might as? The same god damn thing, he was using a shield and sword combo that did not work the first time and sure as shit would work even worse now, since Maxi had gotten a proper grasp of a not only usable, but also -effective- midrange fighting style. He could have gone with anything really, though blades were cooler and did more damage to any sort of enemy. For diamonds, it all came down to angles. He was quite sure that he knew very well how to get Eli.
"Hmph. It's time for you to start making some better decisions!" Maximillian taunted in his usual snarky, british attitude that went quite well with a rule of attitude, though it applied to fighting. No idea if it was a true "Rule of Fighting", though the basic gist of it was "get your opponent mad and he'll do stupid shit". By insulting Eli's decision making on challenging Maximillian again in such a short amount of time, even after seeing that the frozen boy himself had adopted a seemingly different style of fighting with the levitating swords and, instead of trying to adapt, instead went right ahead with what he used last time and FAILED, it was clear winning wasn't in his best interest.
It was the best interest of Maximillian, however, who quickly focused on organizing his blades in a proper position to fight a fighter as tricky as Eli. The last encounter they had, no matter how one sided it had been in favor of Maximillian, did teach him useful things: to always cover his front, to make Eli's approach options more restrictive and take the offensive against his surprisingly weak defenses, even with shield. To better capitalize of this knowledge, the six blades organized themselves as such:
Separated into three groups of two swords, slightly crossed at the outer tip that pointed towards Eli. In a very slight crescent shape in front of Maximillian, it was intended to cover his front as to stop any sneaky attack of trying to get into his back, as well as covering his approach options from all sides in a 180º angle in front of Maximillian. The position he called the "Three Pronged Spear".
Last but so very much not least, the best approach option against Eli was to take the offensive by making the ground difficult to navigate for him, while going on a measured offensive, with a formation that could go defensive at a moment's notice.
Tap. His right foot tapped the ground and soon, his cold aura got even colder, cold enough to passively freeze the very ground below them with a thin sheet of ice that made Eli's movements slippery and difficult to make, while Maximillian's own weren't affected in the slightest. A simple thing to do, as he began dashing forward, sliding skilfully along the ice as he first didn't target his shield, but his SWORD. The double set at the middle both targeted his sword in a direct, horizontal manner, as to strike at a Diamond's natural weakpoint: as tough as it could be, a parallel strike to it could easily cut it clean off. On a blade's flat surface, a horizontal strike along most of it could easily just break it off.
The other two sets, meanwhile, turned their flat sides towards Eli, as to cover the most area in front of Maximillian possible, pre-emptively preparing for a counter-strike.

Winning? Who cared about that, not Eli that's for sure. He cared a lot more for the process of fighting then the outcome, unlike Maxi he knew that there were people who could destroy him. That just meant he had more to learn from them. The only reason he did the sword shield combo was to make himself have the ability to do close range. However due to Maxi's new and unexpected style, Eli decided he needed some distance between him and his friend. His style was interesting and given time, Eli could probably adapt it into his own style. For now though, he would stick with just his. The style itself was fairly good though, especially for Maxi. It gave the user a good defense by having the weapons towards your enemy but nearby, while giving him a good offensive since he could launch his swords at any given moment. Eli preferred the simple, conservative route though. Using your weapons to distract your opponent While you use another to strike.
Finally done assesing all the details he wished to. Eli replied to his comment, "Well you're a lot more energetic than last time, and we'll see who makes the wrong choices." He shouted, and then proceeded to put some distance between the two future heroes. As the ground turned to ice, which was super predictable, Eli made some ice skates and jumped on to them, it wasn't the exact same design but it was enough for him to maneuver decently enough. As soon as he had put the ice skates on, he noticed Maxi had dashed towards him, not having enough time to pull up his shield or sword, he formed and ice wall just large enough to stop Maxi, and then launched a sharp edge out of it in the direction Maxi had been.
"You're not the only one that's gotten stronger and more tactful, don't underestimate me when we haven't fought at least 3 times, you've barely seen any of my abilities, I do like you're new style though glad you finally got into the swordsman club." Eli taunted, he hated being underestimated but it did give him openings. He simply needed to stay calm and collected and he would be fine. He might not win, but he would at least pose a challenge.
Finally Eli figured he had time to attack himself, first looking behind his wall to see Maxi's position, Eli made 3 sharp diamonds in the shape of a drill underground that were very similar to Maxi's size, and made all 3 of them encircle Maxi's position, and launched it up towards Maxi while rotating them just enough for them to cause damage. He would be shocked if Maxi saw this coming.

Making ice skates when you can barely even stand up on them? Pathetic, almost hilariously so! Deciding to go straight ahead, Maximillian decided that he'd show Eli just how far the gap between their skill, their powers and just sheer amount of experience truly was. Had Eli managed to find him and been the first to fight him in the morning, Maximillian might have not desired to be this ruthless, to want to get the fight to be over as fast as he could make it so. To make sure that not only would he leave his body beaten and bruised, he'd also leave his spirit wounded as well.
He kept dashing towards the sharp edge that was just about to shoot out, unaware that the drills were being made underground and were just preparing to attempt to strike at him. Instead, Maximillian was focused on dodging the edge, get over the wall. Bringing all of his blades with him, he actually did something particularly interesting: two of the sets of ice blades, in a simple X quickly got in front of him, slightly higher than the blade, for a good reason.
He activated his drive. Now with a significant boost in his speed and agility, the frozen boy jumped straight ahead, in a short hop that got his feet to land on the crosses that barely sustained his weight, though they did just enough for him to get to bounce right back up again, a leap impressive and high enough, though assisted with his ice, to get over the wall in a way to surprise Eli. Surprise how? There were three things: even if it wasn't literal diamonds, it had the properties of diamonds: meaning that they were just opaque enough for Maximillian's jump to be a complete surprise in by itself; along with that, his jump allowed him to quickly dodge two things in one go, that being the sharp edge and the drills that, by now, were just popping out of the ground, lagging behind his increase in speed and agility.
That being said, Maximillian easily made his way over the wall and, while still in the air, he pointed his hand towards Eli, grinning wide. "SWORDSMEN USE SWORDS, NOT CLUBS!" After obviously nailing that glorious one liner, Maximillian formed a quick, "lite" version of his greatest attack, which usually would be a tremendous spear-like shot though, for quicker purposes to fit his style, he had made a simple spear-like projectile which, instead of calling Longinus like his greatest attack, he called Gunghnir, to go with the "spear" theme. Either way, he shot it directly at Eli, fully expecting him to use his shield that, hopefully, would be well shattered by the purposefully blunt-tipped shot and strike him directly. The swords, instead of assisting on the attack, all got below his feet, to help him glide away from Eli in an effort to get away from a counter-attack and land safely.
