The one benefit of being a mechanic was when anything involving vehicles came into town, even when they were massive war vehicles, Tai had an excuse to check them out. Naturally, as per their arrangement, Kyoko was going to have to be here too. That's right, she was his assistant, intern, whatever and thus had to learn about all this. Just in case. To be fair, it beat showing up alone. What exactly was someone supposed to do at a place like this alone? Tai walked through a crowd with his hands in his pockets, sporting a black top with rolled up sleeves, dark blue jeans, and his comfy sneakers. Finally reaching the open armory area, he leaned up against a pole.He sent a text to Kyoko, a follow up to give her an exact position. Meet me by the entrance of the armory. Delivered Tai placed his phone in his pocket, on vibrate, just in case she followed up with a message. He took a moment to look around, a variety of people were heading inside and to the nearby shooting range. While it was fairly quiet, the occasional pop of fired rounds could be heard. They weren't causing him to flinch or jump in shock, but it did make him uncomfortable. He usually ran in the direction of the sound.
He turned, peering inside their destination. All kinds of vehicles were inside, from old heavily armored tanks to amphibious vehicles. It was rare to get this close to this kind of hardware. He left his post, approaching a nearby tank on display, chuckling at the humor of a guy who looked like a war machine standing next to one. He crouched examining the continuous track and the rear drive sprocket. Tai whistled. It might not have been seeing use, but it was still intimidating.

Kyoko was dead asleep in her bed she suddenly had her computer's messaging system linked to her phone go off and her phone as well. She snapped awake in the dark room, still half asleep and screamed as the sound had scared her awake. She looked around and saw that no one was there the only thing making noise was her computer that had recently turned off from sleep mode and the AC she ALWAYS kept blasting to make sure none of her stuff overheated ESPECIALLY during the summer. She flopped her back onto the bed while spreading her arms across each side of the bed. She grabbed her phone to try and read the message she was sent, her eyes were still blurry so she rubbed them very quickly and yawned. "Who the hell is messaging me? Dont they know I sleep in all the damn time..?" she said to herself as she tried to read the screen now that the eye boogers were gone. Well it was going to be hard to read the phone because he grip had slipped as she was focused on rubbing her eyes and it landed right on her face "FUCK, OW" she shouted as a jolt of energy suddenly shuddered through her body again. This was definitely not her morning.
Once she got the phone off her face she sat up to make sure the damn thing didn't fall on her again and saw that Tai had sent her a message. "What does he want..?" She checked the message telling her to meet him outside of the armory area at the military event. She sighed annoyed that she had to go get up now...did she really? she pondered it for a second and decided it would be best not to piss off her new mentor, boss, man candy...whatever, he teach her to do metal things. She sent him a few minutes 'Ok,might take me a bit I need to get ready.' she said as she evilly chuckled knowing it would take her quite some time to get ready.
~~After some time passed~~
Kyoko arrived at the armory wearing a light pink cardigan and a grey tank-top the cardigan helped hide her metal spine, her hair was up into a rather large sized pony tail and she was wearing her usual comfortable jean shorts and some black and white sneakers. She sent him a text 'yo, sorry im late. im here now. Where are u?' she sent using individual text bubbles instead of just 1 larger text. She was usually was not late to meeting but she had to get ready so it took her around 30 minutes to get there. She spotted him rather quickly after sending that message 'Oh never mind I see you'
She spotted him over by the tank they had on display, oh boy a tank...if she could get in there she wondered how much mayhem it would cause. She laughed at herself, it was dumb to use a tank when she could just trick some idiots into helping her get what she wants instead of getting dirty herself. She started to walk over to Tai with both hands behind her back, despite looking rather innocent if tai paid close enough attention he could notice she did not flinch at all to the sound of the guns being fired. After spending so much time with what society called the "unsavory" types, gun fire in the background noise was just like static on a television channel or the sounds of cicadas during japan's blistering summers. Once she was in ear shot of him she began to speak "Hey there, What part is that you're looking at?" she asked curiously to see if he actually knew stuff about this military weaponry or if he was just burning some time while he waited for her.

Figures. Tai thought now viewing her chain of texts. And of course she would blow up my phone. There was no need for her to be punctual, he was paying her with literal scrap metal and other junk. At least she didn't make a habit out of being late, not that he could do anything about it anyway other than to threaten her already poorly paid position. Before he could respond to her text, she sent him another message. Tai put his phone away again and kept examining the tank.
Once he heard her voice, he glanced over to Kyoko and was at eye level with her legs. He resisted slowly gazing upward and shot his eyes up to her face to make eye contact. "Well look at that. Not spooked by guns? I'm impressed." Tai commented, noting how often some people were incredibly anxious around weapons. He found it hilarious that people used even more dangerous quirks and yet, people remained completely unfazed about guns. Tai thought Kyoko would be one of those people; all pink and bubbly, but apparently she was only kind of pink and bubbly - but with more balls.
Now onto her question. Tai wasn't the most familiar with military gear and equipment, but he had enough mechanical knowledge to talk about some of the systems in use. "Pop quiz, hunh?" Tai smirked and looked back to the tank. Already as close as he felt like going, he pointed to the rear of the tracks. "That there is the drive sprocket, it rotates the track with the help of the road wheels. The tracks are linked to help it move over all kinds of terrain, but of course..." Tai stood up and continued "if the links were to break, the tank would be shit out of luck." Tai walked over to another angle and pointed at the top of the tank.
"That little gap there is the air intake for the engine." He added, sure he could probably walk entirely around the tank and point out all kinds of features. Unfortunately, he couldn't address everything. "Don't bother asking me about the weapons though." Tai added with a shrug, planting his hands in his pockets.
He looked back to Kyoko. "So, we're going to be doing a little learning today. And by we, I mean you mostly." Tai told her the goal for today. Sure, he could learn a few things about some of the vehicles he had never worked on, but it's not like he expected to be fixing small amphibious tanks. He really just planned to float around the older, smaller vehicles. The Humvee were made of the exact same parts as a car, minus the mounted weapons of course.

Tai didnt really seem like the observant type but he did manage to notice that she did not even flinch when it came to the gun's firing noise. "No not really, I grew up in an orphanage in a poor part of Tokyo so I've seen it all." she said waving her hand in the air trying to wave away the story, she was never comfortable talking about her past. She actively always avoided telling it and if she was forced she'd try to keep it to as close to the truth as she could. "Not many things really can surprise me unless it's just REALLY out there or extremely unexpected." she said trying to give some insight into her mind for Tai. For more insight into kyoko's mind, as soon as Tai turned around she took advantage of and took a peak at his clothing, more specifically she looked a this but and then quickly looked at the tank before he turned back around. she was not gonna lie, he had a nice butt. She wondered then if tai worked out? Or what would happen if he worked out? would he sweat? HOW WOULD HE SWEAT? HIS SKIN WAS MADE OF METAL.
As he began to speak again he explained about the air intake and the springs that help the vehicle move on all sorts of terrain. "Ohhhhhhh...i KIND of get it now, next question i've always wondered, on ATV vehicles that people drive what do those springs above the wheel do? does it help it tackle all sorts of terrain too? Also why does a tank need air intake?" she said curiously asking him another question on this pop quiz she decided to give him suddenly. After he answered her question she sat and listen to her explanation. "WAIT let me guess..." she said stopping and thinking for a moment, she then thought about the combustion process needing air to make the car turn gas into energy since almost all cars used combustion to move the car instead of propulsion. "It's to create the combustion process." she said smirking to herself by using the free wifi the army was letting people use and her quirk to confirm her answer via the internet. As he went on to claim that his knowledge of weapons was rather stunted she then went on to offer some help "Never fear the internet is here! I can help answer a question if neither of us know the answer." she said pointing to her spine with her thumb to remind him about her quirk.
Next tai went on about testing her, good. She LOVED to take quizzes, school was such an easy subject for her, despite always being able to use her quirk to search up any answer she didnt know, it was also the BEST tool for her to study with. She went on to open up a screen of light so he can see what she's doing, she opened up her notes app and created a seperate screen of light that acted as a hologram of a keyboard. "Alright sensei im ready to learn~" she said laughing a bit to herself at her own goofiness.

Droning out at her blurb at being from an orphanage, he cracked a small smirk. They had that much in common, he would have asked which one if she hadn't said Tokyo. His was in Kyoto, far enough apart that there was virtually no chance that fate had brought them back together again. Let alone the fact that he was eventually adopted, some of his old friends weren't so lucky. Or so he had heard.
He snapped out of the memory almost as fast as he had thought about it. Tai didn't quite know how some things didn't shock her, but then again... Kyoko did say she had a computer inside of her. If she connected to the internet, it was safe to say she had probably seen some shit. She might have even been a pervert. He chuckled at the thought, a rare sight indeed; Tai cracking himself up. Nonetheless, she did seem to keep certain things close to the chest. Everyone has their secrets, I guess. he thought nothing of it, in spite of his curiosity.
She carried on, asking about what ATV springs were for. Tai opened his mouth to answer, but just before he could answer, she quickly came to the conclusion herself - in the form of yet another question. He stretched his hand to answer again and she changed subjects back to the war machine's air intake. Tai stopped. There was a pause, so he figured it was safe to answer. Opening his mouth for the second time to speak, Kyoko told him to WAIT. He sighed, irritated by her disruptive rambling, just before folding his arms and waiting for her to finish.
Of course. The internet. he thought, it acting as a metaphor for her current fast moving train of thought. Tai hadn't even realized there was a wi-fi signal out here. That's pretty convenient. he thought, finally being graced with a reprieve from Kyoko's onslaught of questions and answers. She revealed a screen of light, showing him exactly what she was looking at.
What the shit is this? he tilted back in surprise. He waved his hand through it and leaned forward to poke his head through the projection. "Oh, I can speak now?" Tai asked, raising his right eyebrow. He was going to have to remember she could do that and maybe wipe his search history. Assuming she didn't already have it.
Tai was at a loss on what to teach her, so he said so. "To be honest, this place is a learning experience for me too. There's a lot of military vehicles here, they'll have some features even I don't know much about." Tai paused and blinked hard, adjusting his eyes thanks in part to the bright projection. "At the end of the day, I'm still just a simple mechanic." he commented, turning his head to look around.
Spotting the Humvee, he found the pairs next destination. He brought a hand up and signaled her to follow with his index and middle fingers. Placing his hands in his pockets, he suddenly had a thought. Wait a minute... Tai stopped and turned to face Kyoko directly. He looked her directly in the eyes and spoke. "Serious question." With a brief pause, he turned his head away and furrowed his lips. "If you can access all of this information when you have the internet, what the hell do you need me for?"

What? He smirked when she told him she was from an orphanage? Well that's very weird..why was he? She blocked out most of her years at the orphanage since really that was just a couple of years until she was 18 and was forced to live on her own since that was the age for booting most of the kids out. But despite it being only a couple of years those years were the years she made a name for herself in her crime network and had been exposed to it's violent nature so gun shots were not uncommon for her to hear. It kept gnawing at her to ask him why he was smiling but she'd rather save that question for another time. She decided instead of wondering she would focus on the task at hand at try to answer his questions and think of questions to ask him regarding her lessons about machinery. She laughed at him when he tried to touch the hologram and nothing happen, he phased right through it as if it was not there, the only one who could interact with this hologram was her since it was her OWN computer unless someone plugged in a mouse to her back through the USB port. "Only I can move the screens." she said moving it around by touching the top of the tab with her finger and moving it in small circles so that he could see. She was testing the waters with Tai about having someone know the ins and outs of her quirk, hopefully it was building trust with him.
Kyoko was fully satisfied with her answer now and had shown Tai her eager to learn side however she was only met with a sarcastic comment of him insinuating she wouldn't shut up. she reacted very angrily "HEY I WAS TRYING TO BE A GOOD STUDENT SLASH EMPLOYEE" she said giving him a soft punch in the arm as payback for that snarky comment about how she was "But yes, im done." she said with a condescending smile at him to try and make a joke out of it. Tai then went on to say how this would be a learning experience for the two of them to learn about these kinds of vehicles
He moved on to ask her a question about her quirk, and her reasoning behind having him teach her. Hmmm that was a good point, why did she not just learn herself how to do it? It would have been simpler and she could have done it on her own time but it was no fun to do it that way. "Hmmmm.." she said to herself pondering. "It's better to learn from someone instead of just sitting at home learning by myself and my computer" she said explaining herself. "Oh and your pretty handsome so i figured it would be a good excuse to spend time with you." she said mentioning it casually without even batting an eye at what she had said out loud. She knew she was being very blunt but to be honest she wanted to gauge how Tai would respond to her silly and blunt reasoning

It made sense that only she could move the screens, he really didn't expect that he could. He was really just checking to see if it was safe to touch. He always had a head first sort of approach to things and if it had been dangerous... well, he wouldn't be able to continue having this conversation with Kyoko anyway. He would be lying if he said that her hologram projections weren't the coolest shit, but he wondered just how complex the things she projected could be. Clearly what she was looking up on the internet and probably maps, but what about memories?
"No need to say it as if it's on your headstone or something." Tai brought his hands up and expanded them outward in sync with his next words. "Here lies Kyoko, she was a good student slash employee," he shook his head and put his hands back in his pockets, accepting her soft punch. It barely nudged him, but it did make an audible knock. Because what else would happen when someone taps a particularly dense surface?
Tai awaiting his answer, got one; it was more like two answers. He expected her to answer that learning from someone was easier than trying to do it on her own, it was fairly run of the mill. As a matter of fact, it was probably how he would have answered that question too. But with her access to the internet and her ability to interface with computational devices, Tai still found it hard to believe that she needed him very much. Just moments ago, she proved to Tai that she could get the information that even he wouldn't know. Then of course, there was her delayed second answer. She thought he was handsome.
Despite how nonchalant his reaction would be, Tai did think it made sense. These thoughts had apparently been communicated a lot lately and thanks in part to his new public relations specialist, Heidi, he knew a bunch of people online thought the same. The phrases 'Cyborg Hottie' and 'Blonde Bionicle Babe' came to mind. Naturally, she wouldn't know any of this. He hadn't shared with her his experiences as a Vigilante yet.
"I'd like to say I'm surprised, but honestly... I'm not." Tai stated. It wasn't out of arrogance but having become all too familiar with some people's attraction to his appearance. Whether it was his face or the results of his quirk. It might have been a strange response, but in light of recent events - it was the logical one.
"You're not so bad looking yourself," he both quickly and awkwardly added, returning the compliment. Some girls were finicky about that.
Leaning forward in order to get a little closer, Tai whispered. "But what you're really saying is you have a crush on me. Right?" Tai inquisitively raising his eyebrow in complete sync with his emphasis. Tai never held his tongue for anyone and that wouldn't start now of all times. He leaned away and shrugged, refusing to bask in this back in forth complimenting too long.
"It's fine, you can keep hiding your little crush. I won't tease you about it. Too much." he immediately teased, clearly having grown more comfortable with the lass over time.
He wasn't sure what he thought of Kyoko yet. Was it just friendship? Strictly professional? Or potentially romantic? It was too soon for him to tell if he wanted the latter anyway. While her words didn't have the opposite effect of making him ill-tempered, they certainly weren't reaching him like they might have for normal people.
Taking a few steps toward the Humvee, he glanced in Kyoko's direction and then back at the vehicle, wondering if she would linger on the new subject matter or switch back to vehicles. It depended on how comfortable or uncomfortable she felt.

Kyoko laughed at his joke, once again, surprisingly enough it was a genuine laugh that she didn't have to fake a laugh to keep up appearances like she typically did to stay in someone's good social graces. "And the best damn one you're gonna have." She said adding to it "You'll pay for that tombstone if you keep it up, I promise." she said joking around, the thought was actually kind of funny to her, forcing him to have to pay for it if she did ever pass away...speaking of passing away how would that work? She immediately forced the thought away, she hated her own self destructive thoughts and to be honest why should she care what happens after she is dead? She really didn't having anything she cared for in this world so there was nothing she'd be leaving behind.
But she decided to officially move on from those morbid thoughts that continued to invade her mind at random intervals and situations, she focused her attention back onto the conversation with Tai, most importantly how he'd react to her being so blunt. Being blunt was most certainly her one of her defining features unless she was playing a game with someone where she enjoyed being cryptic as she watched them struggle to understand her words. However his response actually shocked her for a moment, what? He was full of himself? Her eyes widened "Wow, so your not like one of those stereotypical nerdy mechanic guys...?" she said staring at him intently and bluntly, her eyes glimmering with interest as she leaned in with a finger on her lower lip as she said in a joking manner.
However his next few sentences confused her, hiding it? Was she really? I mean if he asked her outright she'd say yes she thought he was hot and she had a crush. DUH it's probably why she agreed to work with him, that coupled with the fact she wanted something from him. "Huh? What do you mean? I never hid it, just didn't say it out loud, yeah I do have a crush on you." she said bluntly once more not sugar coating what she wanted or how she felt once more as she typically did. "But if you were expecting me to be flustered like some dumb bimbo but im sorry to burst your ego but it's not gonna happen." she said plainly as she walked behind him, she saw him glance at her and then look back to the humvee...what was he thinking? "Sup? Did you want me to look up this car? Orrrrr?" she said as she was typing on the holographic keyboard to look at the stats for this car. She also knew she was blatantly acting very nonchalant about a subject most people found rather tricky and hard to talk about but kyoko was not most people.
She was going to let him decide the flow of this conversation because she already knew what she was going to do depending on his actions.

Tai was hoping he wasn't going to have to pay for something like a funeral and her burial. She proved herself to be a person he could put up with and it would be a shame to have to replace her in the shop. Besides the topic was grim, too grim. Tai was never a fan of dark comedy.
A familiar pose, his crossed arms and face emitted a clear 'really?' "So... you're not like an airhead?" he smugly asked, putting extra emphasis on the term airhead. The truth was... "I won't lie, when you first walked into Sato's... that was exactly what I thought you were. But, it turns out you have a computer in you and you're actually just a big nerd." Tai looked away, scratching his chin remembering the day.
Could Tai actually be surprised by such a revelation? Well of course he could, he's a very typical guy. He may have had a strange feeling in his gut, but he was about as dense about romance and lust as his chassis was tough. "Well shit, I was wondering why someone would work at my shop for basically nothing." Tai commented, shrugging at Kyoko.
"Relax, I was just testing the waters. You do remember that I only just met you..." Tai counted with his fingers, "...how long has it been now?" he asked, unable to recall. A lot can happen in his everyday life and given his undeclared profession, even small events tend to throw him off. "Besides, I get it. You're all... I'm super sexually confident and don't need no man," maybe she wasn't entirely like that. He could've been wrong.
With that established, Tai took a step back and turned around, looking her up and down – examining her. There was no point in holding back now. "Talk about this thing?" he pointed to the vehicle. "Hell no, this new topic is way more interesting. You're off the clock now by the way. Your fault."
Tai was intrigued now. She was different, less flustered than some very typical girls. And clearly comfortable with herself. But considering the circles he was frequenting, this wasn't all that special. He was giving her time of day now, wondering what Kyoko planned to do with it.
