Well, if someone had told him seven years ago that he would be on a military base receiving special training to become a hero, he’d probably would have called them crazy, but well, here he was. The camp had a lot of activity and special lessons, and it seemed everyone was already making good use of that opportunity, and well, he couldn't fall behind, could he? He already came a bit late because of the paperwork related to his father industries incident. The first stop at the camp was a no-brainier, he need to go to the armory to check if he could take the his friend’s robotic frame with him, apparently the military wanted to check it out before letting it wander around the camp, basic security procedure.
Luckily the armory he need to go wasn’t too far, and since there weren’t many people there, the private in charge of the equipment attended to Kal’s request almost immediately. -Oh, so you’re the Takahashi kid, well chief finished inspecting your little toy a few hours ago, please follow me, we left it on the back so it didn’t get mixed in the middle of our equipment. -Kaling then started to follow the private deeper into the armory. - So, you build that thing yourself? Never saw anything like that in my whole life. -The private asked curiously while they were walking. - No, no, that’s my father’s work, I just barely know how to maintain it... - The private then stopped for a bit, as if he remembered something important. -Wait… Was your father the one that died… - His voice stopped when he saw that Kaling’s was looking down, clearly uncomfortable with the subject, that wound was still too fresh for him to talk about it.
Their conversation stopped until they reached the place where the robotic frame as stored. -Well, here we are, you can take him with you now or… - A smile then appeared on the face of the private, like was presenting a big surprise or revealing a well guarded secret. - We could take it to the front, and you could and experiment with a few spare parts you have around, the chief gave his permission for you to use some of them. - That took Kaling by surprise, he expected that they would give him trouble to let his friend walk in his frame, but now they’re letting him even use their own equipment to try and upgrade it. -Well, then, what are we waiting for? Let’s take it to the front! - Said Kaling excited, well perhaps a bit too much excited, but the private didn’t seem to mind that and helped him get the frame to the front.
When they arrived at the front of armory, the private pointed him to a table with a few parts and a to a rack with some tools you would probably see in every mechanics workshop and a few more to help him. - Feel free to use anything there, if you need anything more just ask me or someone around. Also, contact me when you’re done there, I want to it see that thing in action! - Kaling then replied with a “Yes, sir!” and the soldier returned to his post.
Preparing himself to began to select some tools that he would need to start working, he was quite familiar with them, since they were more or less the tools he father used to work with. He then turned to see what he would try using first… He then decided that it would be best to start with something small, like the grappling hook that was on the table and began to work....

It felt awful looking at a million toys and not being able to touch even one of them. Kids knew that feeling when they went to a toy store, Maximillian now knew this feeling as he was looking at a lot of weapons, parts and all sorts of tools he could try holding and testing, though without being able to do any of that: in his crazed stupor of trying out everything he saw as if he had just entered the amusement park of his dreams, the abuse of his quirk actually harmed his own body, having gotten the first signs of frostbite all over his fingers, which needed to be treated at the medical area.
Now there he was, like some dumb idiot with bandaged hands and fingers, as to maintain the small amount of heat right where it was, to not let it escape from his hands. This, along with the fact that they were quite sensitive that very moment meant he couldn't touch anything too strongly or even use his quirk the way he had been using it before.
This situation was positively limiting, forcing him to try and find entretainment by just asking questions, staring or, much more convenient, actually watch someone do something. Other people were so interesting whenever one took the time to just observe, even if it is considered incredibly weird.
Something. Something had to catch his eye, something that was responsibility of any kind of person so he could just go ahead and observe. A robot! A walking robot going all over the place with some purple-haired boy, just his luck! Interest obviously spiked when he saw the robot so, to really observe closely, he walked up to Kaling's table, not caring to announce his presence since his quirk did it for him: within an 8 metre radius from Kailing, the heat everywhere began being sucked up to the cold battery that was the boy.
"Hey. What's up with the big robot you got?" The blue-haired boy asked while walking in circles around the functioning robotic frame, wondering if it would work if he attached some sort of ice weapon to its.. hands, maybe. He still could create some ice, specially if he was careful. If Kaling proved to be interesting, maybe.

Kailing was so focused on his work ahead, that he really wasn’t paying attention to anything around him, well, that’s until the temperature began drop suddenly, which made he stop for a bit and look around. he then saw a blue-haired boy, who had his hands covered in bandages, “Did he overdo himself in training or was that an accidental injury?” Kaling asked himself, but didn’t dare to ask the boy that, because that would be probably rude.
-Oh, that’s the Prototype Jk-8 Frame that my father build when I was a kid, you could say that this is the main “body” of my friend here. - He explained it like that was a totally normal thing, well, at least it was for him. - The guys here at the camp asked to have a look at him first to check if it was safe to let him roam the place with me.- He then took a small wrench from the hack, flipping it a few times on his hand and then pointed at the table where the parts had been placed. - They gave me the greenlight to him walk around and I almost couldn't believe when they told me that I could use some of their spare parts to upgrade him, I mean, most of them are junk or aren’t functioning properly, but there’s some awesome things, like this grappling hook! - He then grabbed the hook and started looking at it, expecting every bit of the equipment at every angle, like he was examining a piece of art. but he soon dropped it and then picked another object at the table. - This Hand Cannon also seems interesting, if I could add this thing properly to my frame, I could him some ranged attacks to his otherwise melee style... - Kailing was obviously excited and enjoying tinkering around with so many different things, he looked like a kid showing off a collection of new toys to play with.
-Ah, sorry, I got carried away and forgot to introduce myself. I’m Kaling Takahashi, from class 1-B. -He then began to scratch the back of his head, a bit embarrassed. - My entry at U.A got a bit delayed… So I don’t really know anyone around here...

An upgradeable robotic frame, made by the boy's father. Nothing short of impressive, of course, though for robots that he has seen before, at least in TV both in shows and in real life, the robot seemed more humane than a lot of them, even if it had its flaws: the robotic structure seemed flimsy at best when it came to durability, the frozen boy being quite sure he could break it with his quirk should he desire.
Not only that, its movements were slightly stiff, slow. While he saw it wander, he didn't hear any creaking or grinding as most usual slow machines would, which would indicate damage to the joints (like rust or corrosion), where one would usually lather it with DW-40 and see if it worked: from what he heard, it usually did.
No. This thing was slow from design, or better yet, its design limitations. So far, he has never seen a robot move as naturally and independently as it did without any direct input from a human. He only saw that kind of thing in movies and usually the robots were never that friendly to humans. Not the comfiest of thoughts to have while one walks free right in front of him.
"Dude-- I think you should focus on making sure it moves smoothly first. It seems a lil' stiff and slow and that's by design limitations. So far though, I've never seen a robot wander around like that without direct input from a human." He tried to say that as nicely as he possibly could. He didn't want Kaling to take away from his comment an indirect insult to his father's genius: au contraire, Maximillian was very much impressed by the work the old man did and, from what he knew, continued to do.
Why would Kaling be here himself to upgrade the robot instead of the real creator himself was a subject matter with possible answers he didn't want to think about in any way, shape or form.
"Maximillian Tychus Kane, 1-A; very nice to meet." He introduced himself while replying to Kaling's problem with a simple shrug of his shoulders. He hadn't been delayed to a school ever, he really couldn't relate, though it was still possible to sympathise. He would never want to be delayed from a school that has given him so much: and made him that much stronger.

Kaling listened carefully to Max’s commentary about the robot’s stiffness and slow speed, and he had to agree that it was probably a more pressing problem to fix than trying add some gadgets to his friends, but it was a problem that would require a bit more of time, resources and skill to fix it. -Well, I don’t think I have the necessary skill to fix that right now, besides he’s stripped of his original upgrades. - Kaling then poked lightly one of the frame’s fins - Those things were supposedly to help him fly with some help of a propulsion system, not just get stuck on doors like they’re now, I don’t think he’s meant to run at high speeds without using a thrusters or something. - After finishing his explanation, Kaling stood there for almost a minute, with a thoughtful face, thinking of what upgrades his father had in mind for the frame which his friend used to follow him at almost all times.
-Oh, sorry, got a bit a lost in thought here. - He said a bit embarrassed, realizing he went “offline” for almost a minute - Right, I’m kinda used to having him around me that I sometimes forgot to mention that. - He then turned around to face Max to continue his explanations. - Remember when I said that this is my friend’s main “Body”? Well, let’s say that this prototype frame can’t do anything on it’s own, here, let me show you. - Kal then turned around to look at the frame again and stretched his hand to it, suddenly, a blue jolt of energy could be seen between him and the frame, and a few seconds later, the frame powered down, standing there immobile. - As you can see, that frame is just a body, it doesn’t has any A.I programming like any other common robot. -He then stopped his explanations for a few seconds, thinking of how he could explain his quirk without making it confusing. - With the power of my quirk, I can kind of, place my friend in any electronic object, like a cellphone, or even as you just saw, a robot. - Kaling then picked up his phone and placed his A.I friend into it. - Look - He said as he held the phone to the boy see, his hand weren’t touching the screen or any of the buttons in the bottom of the phone, but it looked like someone was using the phone, scrolling though the apps until a text app was selected and a “H E L L O” was suddenly written on the screen. - See? - He asked with a smile on his face, waiting the see the boy’s reaction.

Original Upgrades. That revealed a lot to the observant Maximillian actually, bringing awareness to his mind that, in actuality, it used to be much better, maybe at the level of a real robot like Maxi always dreamed of seeing, something that almost made him drool. As an avid fan of Anime and a lover of awesome fighting robots, seeing one in real life would be actually amazing. Fuck it, maybe he should actually do his best to help Kaling, maybe give him some money, maybe hire a tutor or two. If it's for his own dream of seeing a true fighting robot, he'd god damn do it. "Fast, agile and could Fly!? Dude.. so cooooool!"
With an excitement quite palpable, it only grew once Kaling began explaining his quirk, showing him how he had some sort of soul he could control and connect to the machine, as if it was his spirit fighter. That anime was so cool, the guys always went like "ORAORAORAORA" and beat the shit out of everyone that fought against him! Almost drooling a little, he clapped happily while looking all over the robot, then the "spirit". "Dude, that's actually so cool! You are just like an awesome anime fighter!" Good god, his excitement was so tremendous he even let slip the fact that he absolutely loved anime. Maybe Kaling liked it too, he striked him as the kind of guy that would like anime, at least fighting robot anime. Those anime were always awesome, even if some felt forced and cliché. Just the visuals tended to be impressive enough. "Wish I could show you what I can do. Right now, I can just let you feel me sucking up the heat around ya. It's a part of being a mutant." Maxi confessed, letting Kaling really feel just how cold it was around Maximillian. To show him just how cold it could get, he placed his uncovered forearm which, of course, was deeply scarred, rugged and at a lighter shade than the rest of his skin against Kaling's face gently. His skin: it wasn't just feeling dead, it felt frozen.

Max seemed to be amazed after hearing that Kaling’s robot had a lot of potential and could be upgraded to greater heights. The potential of his friend’s robotic frame was something that even Kaling himself wasn’t sure, but the blue haired boy seemed to assume that it would be something amazing, like you would see in anime or movies about fighting robots. -Well… Yeah, but I never had the opportunity to see him at his original potential as well, I mean, my father always said that giving a robot capable of breaking walls and flying to a six year old wouldn’t end well…
When he finished explaining his quirk, the blue haired boy excitement became even more evident, it was weird as something so common to you could look so awesome to someone else, Kaling couldn’t help but laugh a bit embarrassed when he mentioned that he was like an awesome anime fighter. - Well… I don’t think I’m that awesome yet… I mean… I need to learn how fight first to get on that level, but one day I will get there, I’m sure of it! - He finished the sentence now with a bit more secure tone, sure, he might’ve joined a bit later than everyone else, but he sure as hell wasn’t going to fall behind!
Then Maxi started explaining or rather, showing how his quirk worked, the air around them who were already rather cold, became even more colder. Kaling just them noticed the other boy’s forearm, it didn’t look quite good to say at least, when the arm’s skin touched his face, he backed out a bit by instinct, due to how cold it was. - Woah! It’s amazing to think your body can even work at that temperature! - He said, amazed, he thought that he could only control the temperature around him, but no, his whole body was even colder than the air around them. -So does this means that you can freeze things? Like Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat? - He asked, visibly curious and excited to know all that the other boy quirk could do.
