I often feel like a butterfly with broken wings
He had been walking for some time now. It was the end of the day and he was all by himself, just like he often was. Going from the suburbs of Musutafu - where the Igarashi household was - to the center of Tokyo was a long, long walk, but when a kid as a non rational fear of moving vehicles his own legs are his only option. Walking everywhere, however, had it's own advantage. It gave Ryuusei a lot of time to think. About Yuuei, about his life, about the world... Since joining the first ever hero school, thoughts about those subjects came up to his mind a lot. He wanted to let them out; to talk to someone about what was going on in his head... but he had no one. No one except the person he was going to see - someone that would hear him, but, unfortunately, couldnt respond.
Arriving at the Tokyo hospital, the sun was already setting. He walked through the front door at a slow pace, removing his earphones and putting them inside his black jacket pocket. He seemed a little clumsy doing that, since he only had one hand available: one the other, he was holding a flowers. With that done, he approached the reception. On that day, Ryuu had his longish ligh-brown hair pulled back into a ponytail, so it was easy to recognize who he was - specially because of how often he went there.
Ryuusei-sama. How are you?
Hello - he bowed - I'm fine, thank you. I'm going to spend the night, if that's okay.
Of course, just go right up, she said, giving him a pass that Ryuu put around his own neck.
Thanks, have a good night.
And, just like that, Ryuusei started walking the halls of the hospital just like they were the halls of his own home. The hospital probably wouldn't let anyone else in so easily or allow them to spend the night without any kind of skepticism, but it was common practice for Ryuusei. His parents personally knew the hospital administrator and, besides that, they paid a lot of money each month for the person that Ryuu was going to visit to have her own room and the best of care. It was probably the only situation that his family wealth didn't bother him - it actually made him thankfull.
Arriving at one of the many rooms, he open the door just like he had done a million times before, closing it after he got in.
Hey sis - his tone was completly different from what everyone else usually got from him - Sorry for being a little late, I probably should try to get a bike.
There she was. On the only bed inside that large room, Ryuu's older sister layed uncouscious, in the state of coma she had been on for around two year.s. Actually, it was exactly two years: that the marked the date of the incident. Yaso looked a lot like her mother: tall, long blonde hair and blue eyes. Her skin was pale and her face beautiful. But in that condition... she was skinny, her skin also without any kind of color; on her face, the bone structure was almost completly visible; her hair damaged and dark, like it had just died out. It was a corpse that was kept alive only by machines.
I got you some flowers though, they're your favorites - he placed them at Yaso's bedside, leaning to kiss her forehead at the same time. If it was another person, looking at Yaso would be a difficult task, but Ryuu could only see his brigh and joyful older sister. After that, he sat on the chair that was already positioned just next to the bed.
Mom and dad still find it difficult to come, but don't worry about that, they still love you. I think that they just... they just want to keep the good memories of you, you know? I also think they blame themselves for ot having been there... That feeling I can understand.
Through the room's window the sun couldn't be seen anymore. In its place there was a full moon on a clear sky, its light shining into the room providing some kind of natural light. For some long minutes, there was just silence. That was until Ryuu gathered courage to talk.
I'm having doubts in relation to being a hero, I really don't think Yuuei is the place for me to be in... - he began opening up to his sister, knowing full well that he wouldn't get a response - When I don't try I get in trouble and when I do try I still fail... And I'm pretty sure that the class voting me for Vice-President must've been some kind of joke because nobody really talks to me... It would be easier if you were here.
He leaned back into the chair and exhaled loudly. He could vent about it for how long he wanted, but the truth was that it wouldn't change his situation. He closed his eyes for a bit when...
Don't be like that Ryuu, you can be the best of heroes.
That voice... How long had it been? Opening his eyes he saw Yaso looking straight at him, woken up from her long sleep. Ryuu was in shock, no words could come out from his mouth. Yaso, however, kept on talking.
That Yoru boy is your friend. And I'm sure that everyone else in your class could be too, you just can't be afraid of talking to them!
Adjusting the tubes and such connected to her body, she began to get up from the bed. Now sitting, she continued to speak.
And that Rin girl, you helped her! I know you tell yourself that you didn't do a thing, but sometimes being a hero is also just being there to give people a little push forward... That small thing can be a life saver, you know?
Yaso got up. Her walking was flimsy, weak, just like she had just learnt how to walk. Now closer to Ryuu, she crouched.
And if you like her, you should say it to her, don't you think? If you do it with a big smile... - Yaso put a big smile on herself -... I'm sure that everything is going to go just fine!
For some reason, while Yaso got back up, Ryuu still wasn't able to properly speak... How was that happening?!
And you know little one, you're strong, you don't need me to be here - Yaso pressed her index finger into Ryuusei's chest - You have a good heart. Follow it and you'll get your answers.
Waking up in the middle of the night, Ryuu found himself holding his chest with his right hand. He had a dream about something, but he couldn't remember it quite well... It seemed important, but he didn't know why. Looking ahead, Yaso layed on her bed just like always.
She looked angelic, just like a flower.
