Weekends were already really nice. There was no classes, no school, no training unless you wanted to; you could just relax. This weekend was even nicer. There was a light bit of rain trickling down from the sky and it wasn't too hot out. Perhaps if it had been a few degrees higher, it would have been muggy and disgusting, but it was just under that threshold of heat. Takara loved the rain, especially when it was so lightly falling. Not only was it refreshing, but it also helped the plants grow and become stronger, plants that his Quirk relied on. The schoolyear had just started not so long ago, and Takara could already tell the year was going to be long. A lot of his classmates seemed to not have a lot to go on, not a lot of potential, at least to the young blond. None of them seemed to be anything special. Maybe some of the girls looked cute, but that hardly would make them good at heroics. None of them were like him. None of them could hold a candle to him. He would one day surpass his hero, his idol, his older brother Haru. But given who he was in school with, he doubted he'd gain much from any of them. With the annoyance in his mind, and the day still young, Takara had left his dorm room at around 10 in the morning to wander around the school. While Takara would usually not be seen in anything less than the newest trends in fashion and clothing, today was slightly different. Still decked out in expensive cloths, the plain black shirt and dark blue jeans were from his older set of cloths; cloths more so geared towards doing work, cloths he wouldn't mind dirtying. He did however carry with him a fair sized gym bag full of a change of cloths for when he was done what he had planned for the day. Along with the gym bag, Takara also carried a small and compact bag of gardening tools. The young blond had wandered the school grounds a few times and had noticed many of the small gardens around. One in particular had caught his attention. While most gardens were always set up for their aesthetics, many were also geared towards probably plant placement. Some group of plants were bad for stealing nutrients, some required extra space, some didn't need much water. Plants were very finicky, and this particular garden didn't seem to be organized very well. Takara had chose not to wear his usual headphones while he was out. They were in his bag, but he had wanted to listen more carefully to the nature around him without any obstructions. As he neared the garden, small voices entered his mind. He returns. Thank you. We appreciate your help. They were so haphazard with us. Takara gave a nod as he approached closer to the plants. He approached the first wooden slate that was filled with plants and dirt and ran a hand across the soil. He moved to the next, and the next, and the last, each time doing the same to each. "Weird that they would use two separate soils for all of you. And even then, not even match you all to the proper composition" Takara's head tilted and then looked over all the plants. His gaze soon moved off of them, and off into the distance. The nearby tree line that surrounded the school, far more natural in terms of soil than what these plants were getting. Taking another few seconds, Takara sat down between all the wooden garden beds. Crossing his legs, Takara's eyes slowly shut. The rain continued to fall, beads of water crashing over him. He took ins some deep breaths and just took in the nature around him. He would enjoy this peace and quiet before getting to work.

| ◀ | Cold as ice, soft as snow ❆ While a light bit of rain was certainly no snow, Sekka appreciated it all the same. After all, spring would not last for much longer. Summer would soon arrive, and with that, an unbearable amount of heat. It was nice to enjoy reasonable weather while it still lasted. Even with the rain, Sekka would still go take a walk outside. There was no need for an umbrella. She didn't mind getting a bit wet. After all, the girl planned to go swimming in the school pool later anyway.
Sekka had done a light workout earlier this morning, and so was still dressed in her workout clothes. The girl had a blue short-sleeved t-shirt, gray shorts, white socks and sneakers, and her bag was strapped over her shoulder. Her hair was loose at the moment, with her orange scrunchie on her wrist. Though the girl usually tied her hair in a ponytail whenever she worked out, she preferred to keep it loose at almost all other times.
At the moment, Sekka was taking a bit of a break from exercising. For now, she was merely walking around outside. There was no particular rhyme or reason for Sekka's movements. The girl just wanted to walk around outside for a bit, not really caring where she went as long as she kept moving. In a sense, this walk was a small bit of exercise. Nothing too intense, as Sekka didn't wish to tire herself out, but it was still something.
As she kept walking, Sekka would notice a nearby garden. The sight of some of the nearby flowers made the girl almost form something vaguely resembling a smile on her face. They look really pretty! Of course, the girl would be careful not to walk on any of the plants as she moved, not even the grass, sticking to the ground whenever possible. Not that she was a massive fan of plants or anything like that, but it seemed simple enough to avoid. The girl was cold, but not cruel. There was no need to step on plants. So Sekka would refrain from doing so if she could help it.
While continuing to walk, the girl would notice something that would immediately make her sigh in annoyance. Or more specifically, someone. Great, of all the people I had to stumble upon. Sekka rolled her eyes, ready for an unpleasant encounter. On the first day the two had met, she didn't know what to think of him. But then, that fateful conversation in the school chatroom happened, and now Sekka couldn't think of anyone who annoyed her more. She didn't dislike him, as such a word felt too strong. The guy was just someone who knew how to get on the girl's nerves. She could not understand why such an arrogant stuck-up elitist jerk like him even wanted to attend a school for future heroes in the first place. Would the two ever be able to see eye to eye? Well for the foreseeable future, that answer would be a no.
"Oh, it's you." No polite tone in her voice, no respectful use of honorifics despite usually doing so otherwise. Sekka didn't see Takara as someone worthy of treating with respect. Not now. And probably not ever, unless his rudeness was an act of some kind that the boy stuck to as a facade for whatever reason. "A 'pleasure' to bump into you of all people." As always, Sekka's tone was emotionless. No anger or hostility, and yet, she made no effort to hide the sarcastic tone in those words.
But upon seeing just what it was that Takara seemed to be doing, Sekka raised an eyebrow, and for a moment, dropped her cold tone, returning to neutral. "Ah, so you're into gardening? What's that like, if you don't mind me asking?" How curious. She didn't know that the boy was into things like that. While it would have been very easy to joke about being shocked at Takara actually getting his hands dirty instead of making his servants do it for him, Sekka wasn't petty. Someone needed to show an air of maturity around here, and unless Takara changed his ways for the better, Sekka had no faith that he would be the one to show that maturity. Why she kept on hoping he would prove her wrong was something the girl still didn't quite fully understand. Maybe it was due to the thought of a selfish person trying to someday become a hero, someone that should be selfless by definition, being too infuriating to think about?
But despite his very presence being unpleasant, Sekka would not just immediately turn around and walk away, despite being very tempted to do so right now. In fact, the girl was in the mood for a little experiment. That being how long she could try to hold a half-decent conversation with Takara before she got bored of toying with the spoiled brat. Who knows, maybe the guy would prove to not be nearly as bad as he for some reason wanted others to believe he was! Or maybe this would end up being a colossal waste of Sekka's time. Well, there was only one way to find out. |

Takara's eyes remained closed for a couple of minutes. While he was not one for meditation, he often found sitting calmly around plants to be therapeutic. It also helped him connect with the earth and the flora. While his connection was far reaching, outside distractions could always hamper his ability to communicate.
The slight meditation was stopped as the plants spoke up to him about a person approaching. The young teen would let out a small mental sigh as his eyes slowly opened as the other voice flowed into his ears. Continuing to remain seated, Takara listened to her words. He blinked slowly in response and just as slowly got to his feet. Thinking previously of the cute girls in his class, of course the cutest had to also be the one to be self righteous. He supposed most people had to have some flaw though. At least it wasn't like she was a cute girl with a horribly annoying voice. With that thought though, despite whatever animosity was between the two because of Takara's apparent attitude and apparent arrogance, the blond could care less. He wasn't here to make nice, he wasn't here to make friends. Whether this girl and the rest of his classmates thought being nice and friendly was going to get them far, or were all just some weird ploy each of them was playing, it didn't matter to him. They could do whatever they wanted, he was just here to prove he was the best and that he could be as good of a hero as his big brother Haru.
Takara's mind thought on her words as he opened a side pocket on his gym bag. Pulling out a pair of gardening gloves, he also pulled out a second backup pair and placed them on top of his bag. Apparently it had been a pleasure to bump into him. He still said nothing as he placed his gloves over his hands, followed soon after by himself kneeling by a few of the flowers. "The azaleas don't like your tone" Speaking simply, Takara brushed some dirt away from the flowers base, not looking back to the girl. There were a few things being chatted about by the flora in the area, enough that Takara had to partially turn off how much he was listening to. While there was a fair bit of chatter from the plants about the other, someone who could not talk to them, much to their chagrin, there were a fair few comments about how the girl had approached the area. While she had been cautious on the ground, the negativity she brought with her had not been appreciated.
"I designed and grew my families entrance garden to our summer cottage" Another fairly simple response as Takara grabbed a small trowel from his gardening bag. He once more brushed some dirt away before tilting his head upward towards the sky. His face was splashed a little with more of the rain and as he hung his head back down towards the dirt, he shook it a little to get some hair out of his face. He pushed himself up to a standing position and turned to the girl, quirking up an eyebrow. "It's peaceful when the plants aren't disturbed" His eyes went over her again, much like the first time they met, though this time was more focused on her face. "The wet hair is a good look" Takara stated, gesturing lightly with a gloved hand to her increasingly soaked head of hair.
While still standing, Takara went and grabbed the extra pair of gloves he had and waved them at Sekka before dropping them on one of the wooden garden beds near her. He turned back to the original azaleas he had been looking at, kneeling once more. "Gardening is also nice when people know what they're doing and don't mess up their placements of the plant life" It was weird to Takara that so many of the gardens could have been made with such care, yet this one had been so thrown together. It's almost as if they gave up, or maybe they had been expecting someone to fix it at some point.
"The azaleas would be more receptive to you if you helped instead of just standing around doing nothing" Spacing his fingers apart under the glove, Takara placed both hands into the soil and pulled it apart. He fished through with his hands as he did so. He needed to move the plants around and put them closer to like minded individuals. Takara didn't care what Sekka did or didn't do. The plants were far more vocal however.

| ◀ | Cold as ice, soft as snow ❆ The words that came out of Takara's mouth were both completely expected and surprisingly unexpected. Seeing the way the guy spoke in the school chat, Sekka knew that he would reply in a rude tone, and she wasn't surprised at all that Takara couldn't even last a second without being irritating. But as for the exact words used, this was not what the girl thought. Really. You know how azaleas of all things feel about me. It was humorous. Sekka was sure that this was just the guy being rude and sarcastic, but what if he was actually speaking to the plants somehow? Was he just being an ass again, or could the guy actually speak to plants? Was that his quirk? It was interesting to think about.
Sekka rolled her eyes and shrugged. "Well I'm sorry that my tone somehow offended the azaleas." What a ridiculous notion. As if flowers would give a crap. How full of himself was this guy? But putting this guy's arrogance aside, listening to him talk about his gardening was surprisingly not dull. "Oh. that's actually pretty neat. I didn't take you for someone who can actually do things on your own, but good for you." Was he as passionate about plants as Sekka was about exercise, winter, and dragons? Well assuming that Takara didn't drive away the girl with his repulsive attitude, then maybe she could find out.
Upon hearing the comment on her hair, Sekka blinked. Uh, what? With how full of himself this guy was, Sekka found it surprising that he would even look at her, much less comment on her appearance. "Oh. Is that your opinion, or the azaleas'?" She then looked away, not really used to getting compliments. "Either way, thanks, I guess." Was this Takara's way of trying to be nice? Because if so, he needed to work on that a lot more.
"I see. Is gardening particularly hard to get into?" Sekka was reminded of her mom. In the past, the lady would have her own garden, one filled with a beautiful assortment of flowers. Sekka remembered the days when she and her siblings would watch the pretty flowers at the garden, being careful not to touch them to avoid making their mom angry. Sekka remembered wanting to learn how to make a garden like that one someday. Her mother promised to teach her one day. Unfortunately, the accident happened, and now Sekka's mom was in no position to show her how to garden. Or do much of anything, really. It was painful to think about.
Bad memories aside, gardening was still something that Sekka was intrigued by. Perhaps it wasn't too late to get back into learning? Hell, the girl would even be open to the idea of letting Takara teach her if he could actually learn how to not be a condescending ass for at least five minutes. Of course, that might be too much to ask for, as the boy's next words made Sekka sigh. I had no idea what I was expecting out of you.
The girl turned to look at Takara, her eyes as cold and piercing as usual, with a facial expression that screamed annoyance. "You know you can just ask for help like a normal human being instead of having to be such a passive-aggressive jerk about it, right?" Though there was also the faintest and tiniest hint of a smirk as she spoke her next words. "Or did the azaleas forgot to mention that to you?" Sekka was not sure why, but poking and prodding at Takara had its own 'guilty pleasure' level of appeal. Sure, she could just ignore him and not bother acknowledging his very existence. But where was the fun in that? Pissing him off was far more satisfying. Plus, Sekka preferred trying to help someone over just ignoring them and letting them get worse. Even if that certain someone was annoyingly stubborn.
"But sure, I don't mind helping. I was actually pretty interested in learning how to garden." Sekka would carefully reach for and put on the extra pair of gloves. "Just let me know what to do, since I'm new at this. Preferably with you not being rude or condescending when instructing me so the experience doesn't have to be unpleasant for either of us. At least do it for the azaleas if not for me." Sekka wouldn't mind helping out, but she really did not want to put up with any bullshit from this guy. She didn't mind giving him a chance to share some knowledge on gardening with her, but ultimately, the girl could always look up the information online or something if Takara proved to be too insufferable for even this girl's normally incredible patience.
"Alright, so what's the first thing I need to do?" |

She does not sound sincere Takara listened to both the plants reaching out to him, as well as the words Sekka was saying. The plants were right, she didn't seem sincere at all when she spoke about them. She also took a shot at him like she had in the schools text chat channel. While Takara was sure he was better than the others in his class, Sekka specifically seemed to have taken issue with him on that. He had wanted to reply with telling her there was a lot of things he could do, but he found it was better to just not reply. Either it would tell her how much what she said didn't bother him, or she would just get more annoyed at him. If he could get under her skin, maybe he could someday use it against her if needed. "They don't care how you look" His words were mixed in with the sounds of dirt being shifted and moved. He didn't look back to her as they conversed, instead keeping his eyes on the plants he was working on. "It is if you're an idiot, so I can't say what it'll be like for you. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're at least average, given you got into this school" Pulling a clump of dirt out of the container, he plopped it onto the ground. He then would turn his right hand upwards and his index and middle finger would alternate moving up and down a few times. From the opening in the dirt, the group of azaleas began to wiggle and soon the roots could be seen gripped the top of the wooden structure. The plants then began to seemingly walk along the wood, and then crawl down it and into the dirt pile Takara was still creating on the ground. "I don't care if you help or if you don't. It's the plants that think you're here to help but aren't currently doing so" Takara really could care less what she did. He'd fix this plot with or without her. Honestly, he'd probably finish it quicker without her given her comments. She didn't know how to garden, and while Takara could understand people not knowing how to do things, it still meant he knew more than them. "If you insist on helping and learning though, put on the gloves. There's a small trowel in the bag as well you might want to grab" Takara had never actually taught anyone anything before, and there was a good chance he'd just get annoyed by someone not knowing what to do. He still didn't look back to her, instead just pointing to the bag he had referenced. "We need to swap the azaleas here with the ferns over there. They're not in the proper soil composition, and while the ferns couldn't give two hoots, the azaleas would do better with the ferns soil. It's still not perfect for them, but until I can get my dad to send me something better, it'll have to do" The young blond stood and moved over slightly to the other side of the flowers container, continuing as he had done before. Sekka, while annoying in the school chat, very high-and-mighty, at least seemed genuinely interested in learning. Maybe she was a bit less useless than Takara initially thought. Still though, to him, she was probably more looks than substance. "Ferns are a bit more tough, so you should work on them. Use the trowel to brush away the dirt until you find roots. Don't just stab down with it or you might cut some of them. Once you see some roots, use your hand to pull away the dirt, and make a pile on the ground beside you"Want us to slap her if she's too rough? Takara's explanation had been ended by the ferns reaching out to him, and he finally looked over to where Sekka was. His eyes went from the ferns, to the young girl, and then back to his plot he was working on. Better not, she'd probably go to the principle or something to complain and I'd get in trouble. His mind thought back to the ferns as he continued to help the azaleas out of their spot. "The ferns may smack you if you cut their roots. I told them not to, but they said they might, so just a heads up"More azaleas began to pull themselves out of the dirt and creepily walk out of the container and onto the ground below before Takara looked over to Sekka once more. "Don't rush it though, just go slow with the top layer. The most important part is finding the roots without breaking things"

| ◀ | Cold as ice, soft as snow ❆ The sheer arrogance on this guy! Sekka had to resist the urge to either laugh or sigh. This guy isn't a clown. He's the whole damn circus. Why couldn't he just be like most other people who had some semblance of manners? Were all rich people somehow contractually obligated to be as annoying and insufferable as possible, or was it just him? Boy, if I'm supposed to be just 'average', then what does that make you? A joke. Clearly this school has no standards or even bothers doing a proper background check if someone like you can get in. But Sekka was mature. She would keep her thoughts to herself. No need to start an argument with a spoiled brat over something so minor. It wasn't worth it.
"Whatever." If this boy wanted to believe that he was superior to everyone else, then Sekka wouldn't really bother trying to correct him. Reality would set in eventually, crushing the boy's fragile delusions of superiority. He was nothing special. And if he didn't change the way he thought? Then there were loads of troubles waiting for him in the future. But that was not Sekka's problem. She was in UA to become a great pro-hero someday, not to try to help fix someone who didn't want to be fixed.
"Alright, I understand." Ignoring the rude and condescending tone in Takara's voice, Sekka listened and began to do her best to follow his instructions exactly. She was patient, not in any rush at all. Better to be gentle when not knowing what to do. Still, the girl was determined not to make any mistakes. Not just to avoid accidentally damaging the plants, but also to avoid any criticism from the boy. If he dared criticize her methods, then Sekka was ready to criticize his lousy teaching method. She wanted to help out, but was not in the mood to take any crap from him.
"Awww, are you actually worried about me? How surprisingly sweet and considerate of you! I didn't think you'd even care, to be honest." Sekka continued working on the plants, resisting the urge to laugh or even chuckle. You're worried about the ferns smacking me? Boy, I am tempted to smack you if you don't learn some manners soon. Of course, Sekka wouldn't actually smack anyone, no matter how tempting it was or how much they deserved it. She wasn't petty. Still, the thought of doing so was pretty satisfying to think about. It was a shame that this guy was too cowardly to try and prove his supposed superiority over the other students. All bark, but no bite. Sekka would love to crush his arrogance beneath her foot and give this guy a proper beating.
But for now, Sekka would quietly work on the ferns, making sure to take her time and do everything exactly as instructed. "I don't speak plant, Takara, so would you please tell me if the ferns have any complaints with how I'm doing things? I couldn't care less of your opinions, but I don't want to make them feel any discomfort." This was completely ridiculous. Still, Sekka had no one to blame but herself for this. She was the one who chose to do this. So she would do so without complaining.
As she worked, Sekka would notice the plants moving. How intriguing. Was this Takara's quirk in action? Sekka was a bit curious to know. However, she knew that asking the boy about it would be pointless. He probably would either be tight-lipped about it, or would lie and exaggerate its capabilities. Either way, words from him would not be particularly helpful. So the girl would not even bother. She would just continue to work gently and patiently, doing her best to ignore any stupid or rude thing that came out of the boy's mouth, only paying attention to the important stuff and nothing else. |
