APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY
Appearance:
Dax is a young man who's slightly less than average height, standing at only 1.65 meters - or 5'5. He's also a bit scrawny, 62 kg or 136 lbs, and has yet to build the muscle for his future occupation. While his hair is black, it can sometimes looks dark brown in certain lighting conditions. While his hair appears messy and unkempt, Dax actually puts a great deal into styling it to give it that tousled appearance. When he's out in the field, he likes to wear a pair of vintage biker goggles pushed up on his head, his hair styled around them. His eyes are hazel, but either reflect as more green or amber depending on the lighting. When he uses his Psychometry Quirk, his irises and pupils fade into a brilliant glowing white with gray limbal rings.
When he's not wearing the UA uniform, he prefers to wear baggy clothing complete with jackets or hoodies to help hide the presence of his feminine chest - binders can only flatten down so much. He's always seen wearing a pair of vintage biker goggles and black or brown leather gloves, which help suppresses his Quirk so he doesn't suddenly have visions at inopportune times.
His hero suit is heavily inspired by military combat gear, building on Dax's role as a sharpshooter. It mainly consists of loose clothing in gray, black, and dark green, as well as sturdy combat boots. The bagginess makes it easy to move and fight in, while the dark colours help with stealth. A rig belt leading down to leg rigs hold multiple pouches for extra ammo, his Shock Bullets, a first aid kit, a flashlight, granola bars, and a water canteen. Kevlar padding is sewn into the material in key places; his torso, knee pads and shin guards, and black gauntlets, which detach at the wrist so Dax can quickly free his hands in case he needs to use his Psychometry. His ever-present vintage goggles sit up on his head when not worn.

Personality:
Dax has the makings of being a great hero, at least personality wise. He's a genuinely kind person who'll always go out of his way to help someone out. He always likes being seen as useful, whether that's being a hero or doing something small like being a shoulder someone can cry on. Despite his desires to be useful, he's always really humble about it, and never does it for recognition or fame. There's very little he'll actually say no to. While this can make him a bit of a people pleaser, this also means there's no job too small for him. While some call it determined and some call it stubborn, Dax never gives up on something he sets his mind to, whether that be helping someone, a specific plan, or a life goal. Once he's decided on something, nothing short of heaven and hell can get him to change his mind.
He's also very observant and always keeping an eye on his surroundings, but that's mainly a by-product of his Quirk. He's pretty intelligent and knows his way around a machine from his years in his dad's shop. Ever resourceful, he's always tinkering, always building; he's the kid in class taking apart pens and building rubber band launchers out of miscellaneous junk. Currently, he's working on designing and building his own support gear and dreams of one day building a souped-up motorbike. He loves taking things apart and figuring out how they work. He would be in the Support course if he wasn't so dead set on being a hero.
He knows that he doesn't have a Quirk suitable for combat - a fact that he's not really fond of. He always dreamed of being a hero; fighting crime and saving lives just like the vigilantes and later pros he saw on the news. However, after his Quirk manifested into something not useful for combat at all, he became really insecure about becoming a hero at all, if he'll even be good enough to be one. He still works hard in school, but he knows there's a lot of things he can't do because of the limitations of his Quirk. He's worried he'll be subjected to a life of detective work and paperwork, just trailing along behind all the action.
Despite his lack of combat abilities and his self-doubts, Dax won't give up on being a hero. He charges into situations fearlessly, if not a little recklessly, to be on par with his classmates and refuses to be shuffled off to the side as just support. Telling him he can't do something will only further spur him on, as he's determined to prove everyone wrong. He relies heavily on his support items, even building some of his own with the knowledge he gained growing up in his dad's mechanic shop.
Has some bad habits from childhood, like hiding what he's doing or watching if he thinks others won't approve of it. He can be pretty secretive and dishonest about things, not because of any malicious intent, but he'd rather lie to avoid conflict, criticism, or getting into trouble. However, that's not saying he avoids breaking rules to also avoid getting in trouble, as that's entirely untrue. Dax is known to have quite the rebellious streak and strives to be completely independent. His preferred course of action, especially if he knows he's doing something that someone won't approve of, is to do the thing anyway and then lie about it. In fact, one might say that spite is a big motivator for him. After all, it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

HISTORY
Delilah Taylor was born in America in a pretty well-off family. She was a just a child when the first cases of Quirks started appearing around the globe. At first, she was filled with the wonder and curiosity only a child could have at this new, strange world. Her fairy tales were becoming a reality. However, this fairy tale would not last long. More and more cases of quirk-related crime and unrest appeared, and Delilah's entire childhood would be shaped and defined by the violence sparked by the riots, the discrimination, and the segregation against Quirkers. A few times, Delilah's own life was on the line at the hands of these villains. She grew to fear and even despise villains and the Quirks that brought so much death and destruction. After graduating high school, Delilah would join the US military to help protect the world from these monsters. It was only a matter of time before an all-out Quirk War began.
A few years after joining the military, Delilah was relocated to Japan, where she met Maboroshi Satoru, who worked as a civilian automotive engineer and mechanic on her military base. The two fell in love and married in 2055. They would settle into married life before giving birth to their daughter Kioku. Kioku grew up in an emerging era of vigilantes fighting back against the villains. She always found them so cool; their powers, their fighting, everything. However, Delilah discouraged this immensely, and even punished her when her interest got too extreme; Kioku was grounded for a month when she was caught watching a vigilante fighting a villain on the news. Delilah didn't trust these do-gooder vigilantes one bit, and refused to have her daughter's head filled with false ideas and lies.
Aside from Quirks and vigilantes, Kioku was very much a tomboy and preferred to spend her free time involved in sports or tussling in the dirt with her male friends, instead of playing with dolls like the other girls in her class. She hated the colour pink and dresses, and always kept her hair in a chin-length bob; Delilah wouldn't let her get it cut any shorter. However, Kioku would rarely get to see her mom due to deployments, and was mainly raised by her dad. She honestly preferred this, and would go to his mechanic shop right after school, do her homework in the back office, and then go out onto the shop floor. Satoru taught her a lot about cars, like how to change a tire and the oil, and all the different parts of an engine. She was covered in grease more nights than she wasn't.
When Kioku was 12, she started feeling like something was wrong, but she could never really figure out what. She became depressed, but Delilah always waved away her worries, claiming she just needed a change of scene or a breath of fresh air. None of that helped. She just never felt right as herself. After doing a lot of research and soul searching, she came to the realization that she didn't want to be a girl anymore. Kioku wanted to grow and continue her life as a man. Coming out to his parents was difficult and emotional, and his dad took it much easier than his mom. Delilah started to sob and wail about Kioku "giving up her true identity" and "always being her little girl". She absolutely refused to accept or respect Kioku's desire to be a boy, claiming that she loved Kioku too much to use male pronouns. Her response sent him into a deeper depressive spiral. There were many fights and screaming matches, many tears were shed, and many blame was passed around. Yet despite things relatively calming down after a year, the worse was yet to come.
Nobody really knows why his Quirk manifested so late in his life, but during an argument over him wanting to legally change his name and transition, things got heated. Delilah went to backhand Dax, but he grabbed her wrist to stop her. Suddenly, he froze, his eyes glowing a pure white. A few seconds later, Delilah collapsed to the ground in a heap. Dax and his dad took her to the hospital, where she eventually came to, but the damage had been done. She could make do with him being trans, but under no circumstance would she let a dangerous Quirker live in this house. He almost killed her! So Dax was given that night to pack everything he could before he was kicked out and disowned. Satoru tried to fight for him, but Delilah had made up her mind and Dax was out before the night was over. Satoru drove him to his sister's place - Dax's aunt - to live there, promising he would get this sorted out.
This incident would lead to Satoru serving divorce papers, and after months of court dealings with Delilah being very uncooperative and argumentative, he finally gained full custody of his son. The two of them moved to Musutafu so Dax could attend UA the following year, as well as legally transition.
