People often said that those who had a reason to fight for were those who were able to become truly strong. In a way Elise understood that belief quite strongly. After all, she had lived for the sake of another for so long. In a way one could say everything she did, had directly or indirectly been tied to that person, and now that she was gone? It all started to crumble down. First was the zealous dedication, her belief that if she searched and struggled hard enough, she would surely find Tetsuko and everything would be alright. However, in the weeks and months that followed no amount of effort or dedication allowed Elise to reach the conclusion she desired. No, instead she was forced to acknowledge and come to terms with the fact Tetsuko was gone. In the wake of that revelation came denial. She continued to search, to the point she had become obsessed with it, forsaking her own wellbeing just for that foolish hope that everything would return back to normal.
Of course, it never did...
Despite all her effort, nothing had changed, and after denial came despair: that awareness that the unthinkable had happened. It hurt, it hurt immensely. At first, she was still in a state of denial, but after that it became more akin to a shock, and along with it only a feeling of sorrow and emptiness remained.
When one had lived life for the sake of another, if that one person disappeared, then it was as if nothing had meaning any more. Some might consider it overreacting, dramatic even but in the end, those people didn't understand just how important that bond had been. How reliant she had been on Tetsuko for her happiness.
It was just like this that it all came spiraling down. When 'she' arrived, she would easily notice that something was wrong. There was no need to ring the intercom, for the room was left unlocked, although those with ill intentions would quickly reconsider considering the humanoid robot 'Merlin' was stationed at the front-perch, like a loyal watchdog keeping guard over its home.
His eyes gazed quietly up at the unexpected intruder. "..." For a moment it remained quiet as if calculating, or considering something upon which it finally moved aside and spoke, its voice sounding much more humane than usual. "Meister is in her room..."
It didn't take long for one to notice that the apartment felt empty, unlived in even. Sure, it was still clean but the lights were out and the curtains covered the windows, making it only dimly lit inside the room. Once she reached her destination it would become clear where Elise had been in recent days, the absence of a usual witty or cheerful greeting as she entered the room, instead being met by a trail of empty plastic bottles that trailed all the way to the bed. Hanging over a chair were disheveled and clearly unattended to clothes, and as one might have guessed, their owner was lying under the blankets, a glimpse of solid pink slime made it clear that Elise was not even in her usual human disguise, no instead it was a pink slime girl that was lying under the covers, her shape humanoid for sure, but it was clear that she was akin to the slime girls from a certain famous anime stereotype.
However, even then no greeting came, the blankets only stirring slightly upon sensing the presence of someone in the room.
Of course, it never did...
