Kenshin Dwight
_
BASIC INFORMATION
Hero Alias: Barricade
Player Name: Zaz
Faceclaim/Series: Ban - Seven Deadly Sins
Age: 15 (May 11th)
Gender: Male
Affiliation: Student (Pre-1st Year)
Height: 183cm
Weight: 86kg
Hair/Style: White, short, spiked and swept back.
Skin/Scars: Light, burn scar on left of chin and neck.
Eyes: Red, sharp and somewhat narrow.
Notables: Kenshin is half Japanese from his mother's side and half American from his father's, the latter having immigrated to Japan to teach English. His stature and build both reflect this, both being significantly larger than what is normal for most natives. Kenshin also possesses unusually pale skin, red eyes, and white hair, none of which were inherited from his parents. These features are instead the result of partial albinism, his body having stopped producing melanin at a very early age, caused by his body's dependency instead on the membrane created by his quirk.

APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY
Appearance:
Tall, muscular, imposing. These are words that are commonly used to describe Kenshin's appearance. From his face's angular features to the scar running from his cheek down his neck, his image fits that of a stereotypical lone wolf, bad boy, street punk, rapscallion, or whatever else one wants to call it at the time. The fact that his features can also be described as at least somewhat vampiric doesn't make matters any better. Further accentuated by a resting expression that can be described as either stoic or simply indifferent, at best Kenshin has been described as hard to approach, and at worst terrifying, giving him a tenuous relationship with his peers.
Because of his natural stature and build, Kenshin is often mistaken for being older than he actually is. This is a double-edged sword, as while it lends him an aura of maturity, it makes it even more likely for his peers to avoid approaching him, though there is the occasional brave exception. The way Kenshin carries himself can also be seen as mature, with a posture that exudes a calm seriousness, and while these features, altogether, serve to separate him from his peers, at times his apparent maturity can outweigh how imposing he seems, causing particularly meek peers to occasionally flock to him for guidance or protection, which he doesn't really mind.
In casual attire, Kenshin dresses, well, casually, but tends to stick to a sort of punk theme, with depressed jeans, leather jackets, and other things that fit the same general vibe. It definitely doesn't help him be any less intimidating, but he actually wears what he wears because of that, as it simply fits his own theme and makes him look good. In more professional attire, Kenshin's theme works both for him and against him. His stoic demeanor can make him appear more professional, even more trustworthy at times, and he tends to look really good in black and red. On the other hand, as usual, that same stoic demeanor, coupled with his features, can make him intimidating, and he's even been described as looking like a member of the Yakuza.

Personality:
Kind, selfless, protective. These are words that can be used to describe Kenshin's personality, but most often aren't. As someone who's spent most of his life as a lone wolf, Kenshin himself doesn't often think of these traits as his, having had little experience in displaying them save for the rare instances someone is brave enough to come to him for help. That doesn't make these traits any less existent, however, and Kenshin feels strongly protective of his friends, how few and far between they are only amplifying that feeling. Lack of practice hasn't made him any less kind, and he's often the first to offer help to someone in need, however awkwardly he may do so. He enjoys the feeling of helping someone out, and will always give his time when asked for help, assuming said time is available and he has no other pressing matters.
That being said, the act of him giving his aforementioned time to another is also somewhat out of practice, it being a rare, but existent, occurrence for someone to come to him for help. Things like this have plagued Kenshin throughout his life, as the fact is, to put it simply, he's intimidating. His natural stature, physique, expression, and at times overly straightforward way of doing things all contribute to an apparent personality that he does not have, one of a street punk who's likely to punch first and ask questions never. On the contrary, he's more likely to ask questions first and punch never, as he rarely raises a hand to defend himself outside of serious circumstances, and even then he rarely aims to actually injure someone.
When defending someone else, however, Kenshin gets a lot more serious, more so than he normally looks, at least. It's tied to why he wants to become a hero, which is to protect people, so he takes doing so very seriously. He's quick to come to the defense of someone he sees as being mistreated and can get agitated very quickly in such a situation. Contrary to his normal self, Kenshin can be quite aggressive in the defense of another, and it's one of the few times he gets excited. That isn't to say he enjoys the fact that the situation happened at all, but the act of protecting another person exhilarates him, and this feeling is the main reason he decided to become a hero. It may well be a form of self-validation, but his drive to protect is very real.

HISTORY
When asked to describe his past, and particularly how his desire to be a hero came to be, Kenshin will most often dismiss the question, claiming his past to be uninteresting, bland, unimportant, and other such things. For the most part, difficulties socializing aside, this is true. However, just like everyone else, there are a few points that have collectively made him who he is today. Other things, though, have simply always been, one of which being that Kenshin has always been quiet, and this, combined with his natural appearance, has lead to not the most social of lives. From the get-go, he's been forced into the role of a lone wolf. No matter what he tried, it seemed like the chasm between him and his peers grew wider with each passing day, so he eventually grew to simply accept the solitude imposed on him.
Often known as the punk with a quirk, due to his appearance and the fact that, well, he had a quirk, Kenshin's reputation both encouraged and dissuaded confrontations with him. For every wannabe thug that he successfully intimidated into backing down, there was a misguided knight who simply couldn't be convinced that the evil they were mustering up their courage to face for their friends simply didn't exist. Over time, he gave up on trying to repair his reputation and decided that avoiding people in general was preferable, though he did entertain the occasional request for protection from whatever 'other' bad elements there were, if nothing else because it was the only real positive interaction with his peers he had.
The real turning point in Kenshin's rather mundane life came, funnily enough, when the day had been just fine thus far, and he had simply wanted to get a drink on the way home from school. He found himself in a convenience store he commonly visited when said store was robbed, the robber in question bringing no weapon but themselves and their quirk, said quirk involving some generation of fire that Kenshin has since forgotten any specifics of. What he does remember is getting between the robber and another customer, another student, that they had gotten particularly mad at. This earned him a scar that still marks him to this day, though luckily he received no other injuries that day. The police arrived soon after, and all was well.
The most important part about that day was not the injury Kenshin received, nor was it the drink he ended up not getting. The most important part was the feeling he took away from having done what he did. He didn't really think about doing it, it just happened, and he most likely saved a life that day. Considering that the flame was hot enough to scar him, he didn't want to know what it would've done to the person behind him, and it was that act of protection that sparked something inside of him, made him feel truly alive for the first time in a long while. And this is despite spending several weeks in the hospital recovering immediately afterward.
Ever since that day, a desire has cemented itself within Kenshin, a desire to validate himself by protecting others who couldn't protect themselves, and a bit more than a year later he found himself entering U.A., having decided to become a hero. He wanted to become stronger, more able to protect those who needed his protection, and if becoming scarred once more was what it took, so be it. If what it took was having the life squeezed out of him, then he would fight until his body ran dry. He would fight until his last breath in the service of others, the greater whole, by protecting everyone that he could, because by doing so, he felt really, truly alive.
