To be back within the infirmary of the hero academy, it had truly been an odd chain of events. Seated at her desk Elise sighed softly as she flipped through the pages of a book she had brought along with her, an activity which didn't last long since she placed it down and moved her chair to a nearby spot close to her desk. Currently, the school was preparing itself for the annual Sports Festival, and the very first licensing exams for its third-year students, which could easily lead to students overexerting themselves in the hope of gaining some last-minute training before the big event. A sad but understandable consequence of such a hyped event.
Even now Elise was not entirely certain about her decision to return here. Touma did make a fair point: With her skills and experience she was well-suited to tend to the injuries of the students and to carefully monitor and advice them when it came to their health, it also gave her an opportunity to protect them in a way that didn't mean returning to the battlefield once more.
And yet was this truly the path she wanted to walk? She still struggled with the concept, the awareness that Tetsuko was gone. She could no longer rely on her iron-blooded knight, and that was a painful realization: That she relied so much on her relationship in order to feel happy.
Despite the fact that there were currently no injured students needing her attention, it was not like Elise was just spending the time in idle thoughts. She had brought along the small portable piano that she had gotten from Luka for her birthday, her fingers dancing along the various keys as a soft melody, one of her songs, played through the infirmary.
Music always had a soothing influence upon her, and at the behest of Misako, she had chosen to start considering her career as a pianist again. She knew her fans were waiting for her return to the stage but was this truly the right time? Perhaps it might, perhaps it never would.
Although now she thought about it, the role of the hero academy's school nurse seemed kind of cursed. First there was Sophie who disappeared, then Nimue and now the school had her to fill the role. There was a certain sense of twisted irony to the fact that it was her, Spymaster's successor who had been chosen to take the role of the academy's healer. And yet, wasn't it perfect in a way? Her origins were in the medical field, she had embraced the profession of a doctor because she wanted to help people, to save those she cared for, so to be here in the infirmary felt oddly... fitting.
To the students, only the news had been brought that a new school nurse was appointed by the principal, but no details on her identity were given yet. She had no idea how the third-years might react to the fact that a former classmate of them, who to their knowledge had left the hero academy was now one of its faculty and in charge of their physical wellbeing.
Fate was full of unexpected twists and ironic outcomes...
