"Weren't you getting the food for your brother? You mentioned "brother" and "us" so that's who I assume you are doing this for. Don't you two have a home to go to?" Desmoshi knew what it was like- having to be the one sibling that everyone depended upon he was the oldest out of the twins and making sure Mizuki was taken care of was important- although she was more responsible than him at times.
However, he quirked his eyebrow when Wes stopped in the middle of his response. Then he continued. "Not anymore...we came off some...bad stuff in the U.S. and right afterward we had to take off and land here; our relative in Japan was not very...open-minded. So just like that our plan fell through. It's been a pretty long time since then."
Desmoshi sighed. It sounded like him and his brother were homeless with nowhere to go. And were they quirkers, too? He wasn't sure about that one yet. Surely someone had to be around to help them. "Yeah," Desmoshi said looking at the sky, sitting on the concrete next to him. "A lot of people around aren't that open-minded about... well, people. Especially when it comes to family. Can't pretend I know what that is like. My family has always been supportive of my quirk. Heck, half the family is quirkers." Desmoshi stopped for a second. This guy didn't want to hear how good his family was to him, so he changed the topic. "But UA looks past that. They believe everyone is equal and is the same as any normal human. In a way, they are family."
Quirker or not, Desmoshi was sure that UA would help Wes out. There were some people that got under your skin. But there were others that actually care and took the time to help. Speaking of UA, Wes asked, "So...I should probably ask. Are most UA students this...absurd? You're like the angel version of a trained mercenary. Are there a lot of kids like you? I've never seen anything like it in Chicago...or anywhere in the U.S. before. Through all of the places, we'd been... People with power only seem to run rampant with them... or maybe they would rather keep it to themselves most of the time because they're scared of the world turning on them for having an edge on the rest of the world."
Desmoshi laughed at the statement. "I don't know about being an angel or anything like that. Heck, I'm just a regular guy. I just believe that everyone needs help as long it's done the right way. But there are kids that are just like me." He looked over at Wes with a patient smile. "And just like you. People who have lost others or been shunned away for being different, as you put. To be honest, people at UA help each control our powers and gives us a chance to show the world that there are good quirkers who want to help society. It's all about what you choose to do."
Wes might have thought about what Desmoshi said and replied, "I just find all of that...hard to believe. That there’s a bunch of people just...running around solving problems. Not just that they have superhuman abilities but...that they don't just do what everyone else seems to do when given the opportunity. It’s absurd. It doesn’t...make sense."
Desmoshi thought about it a moment. "Well, believe it or not, there are. I mean, Japan's filled with heroes that help people all the time. Sometimes, for different reasons. And there are others who abuse it. But good people do exist." Desmoshi gave a smile. "From the sound of things, you must have been through a lot. And if you don't feel comfortable talking about it that's fine. But if given the opportunity to do good, would you take it? Well, I am offering an opportunity. Come to UA and see for yourself. See for yourself if I am wrong or not." Desmoshi was trying his best to get Wes help. But it was up to him to make the decision.
