Just a Little Heist, as a Treat [Saga/Multiple]

Miyami just felt pathetic. Going into this heist, she was hoping that it would be easy. But she always had a feeling that something could go wrong. Things always seemed to go wrong for her. However, even she could not foresee just how badly things would get messed up. All she wanted was just to walk away with a decent earning. Now, she was just a mess and was too upset to try and hide behind her stoic and uncaring mask.

Great. Now everyone knows you're just a scared whiny little bitch. Way to fucking go! Damn it, I can't do anything right.

She failed not only herself, but the Painter as well. Hell, she would very easily understand if the villain wanted to beat the shit out of her for proving to be a failure. Hell, in Miyami's view, that would be completely justified. Letting people down, apparently that's all I'm good for.

However, everything that happened next was definitely far from what the girl expected.

First off was the only thing Miyami did see coming from a mile away. Getting slapped on the cheek. Even if she could escape the man's firm grasp, she probably wouldn't have even bothered. She felt too shitty anyway. And of course it hurt. "Ow!" The girl meant to say it sarcastically, as though it was not a big deal. But with how hard the guy's grip was, it actually did hurt, and thus Miyami's cry of pain ended up sounding far too genuine for her liking.

But the man's words made Miyami's eyes widen. He was the same? All this time, she thought that this guy here was just a gangsta wannabe, someone who dressed up and had an overinflated ego, someone who just stopped petty criminals to flex his own abilities and hog some personal glory, someone who didn't give a shit about others who were suffering. Was she wrong about that? Though unlike Miyami, it seemed as though Gucci here never gave in to despair, never gave up. Or at least didn't stay down for long. According to him, there was always a job. But it wasn't villainy he had in mind. A janitor? And apparently, he even knows where she could get a job, but he doubted she would listen.

Right now, all Miyami could do was listen. She barely even registered being let go and pushed down. "I... No, that's not... I am listening, but..." But her mumbling ceased as the guy continued speaking. One shot. One more time. Try and get better. But jail would be so much better than if she failed. Okay, with Gucci done talking, it was Miyami's turn to try and speak up. Though she doubted he would listen.

"I tried. I really tried! I tried my hardest to keep on the straight and narrow! I even did try to become a janitor, multiple times! Anything's better than sleeping in a cold deserted alley every night without anything to eat for days at a time! But every time I try to show my face, every time I try to seek help, all people see is a runaway whose quirk went out of control and attacked some asshole cops! Nobody believes me when I say I want to change! How can I try and get my hopes up to live a better life when nobody's willing to give me a chance? I want to try, believe me! B-but all people see in me is a street rat, a thief, a monster. I keep trying, and I k-keep failing!"

It was pointless to talk further, as Miyami did not want to start crying again. Would Gucci here even listen anyway? Would anyone? No one ever did. And even if someone did try to listen, did try to accept Miyami and do their best to try and save her from this life of crime, San'en would always show up to drive them all away. It was hopeless. No matter how much the girl tried, it seemed that all roads led to failure and despair. It was far simpler to just give up, to just accept her status as an outcast and criminal.

But still, Miyami did not want that life. Even if it was futile, even if she was alone, she still wanted to do better. She wanted to try and get back her old life. Life back when her mom and dad were both still alive. Back before that asshole cop stepfather of hers ruined her life. But that didn't matter now, did it? She would always be alone. Nobody would ever listen to her....

...Except that was not true. Miyami did not expect to hear such words to begin with. Not just from Gucci, but also Cold- no, from Gabriel. Miyami was done with the petty nicknames. Gabriel also tried to be sympathetic. But then he got hit in the family jewels and Miyami found herself feeling guilty for smiling and chuckling a tiny bit. "S-sorry."

But the one who surprised her most was the Painter. Rather than feeling livid or disappointment, it looked like her partner was... sympathetic? Miyami was not ready for the sudden hug and consoling words, just freezing in place in surprise. Y-you too, huh? Miyami began to wonder if she had somehow made everyone dig up bad memories. And that thought just made her feel more shitty.

It was time to go, however. Despite still not reacting much, at least Miyami was able to move her legs in a sprint as the Painter grabbed her hand and ran with her. Normally, Miyami would be happy to get out of here. This whole thing was a failure, and in the girl's eyes, she was the one to blame. If only she were stronger, faster, more useful. But no, she barely did anything. She was useless. She had let the Painter down. All she did was bring sorrow to those around her. Why do I fuck up so much?

Miyami smiled sadly as she heard the Painter's words. "Damn. I'm sorry..." There was something she needed to do to try and help. After all the Painter did for her, it wouldn't feel right to just sit there and do nothing. "Listen, I know a place. If you want, you could stay-" But before she could say anything more, it appeared that the lady was in pain. Shit! She said she needed a doctor. "Don't worry. Leave it to me. I know a guy." It was the least the girl could do.

As Miyami reached in her pocket for her phone, she felt it. Oh right, the ring! I forgot about that! So the girl did get away with one thing. But now she felt horrible. She didn't deserve this. If she could, she would have just gone back and returned the lavender ring. But now she had another idea. Obviously, Miyami had no money to pay for the private doctor. But maybe he would help the Painter if she used the ring as payment. With how fancy and beautiful it looked, it had to be worth at least hundreds of thousands of yen. But even if money wasn't an issue, maybe she could let the Painter have it. She deserved it way more in Miyami's eyes, plus it would mean the whole things wasn't for nothing.

But first, it was time to call for help. Taking out her old and crappy burner phone, Miyami began to text one of her gang buddies, asking for a ride to the doctor. Waiting a short bit for a car to arrive would be much faster than trying to head out on foot to a place so far away. She then turned to the Painter. "Help should be arriving soon. Just try to hang on for as long as you can!"

Miyami just wanted this night to be over. She just wanted to collapse. But there was work to be done. She wanted to change. She wanted to try and get her shit together, to try and get this joke of a life back on track. Even if it would be exceptionally difficult, even if nobody believed in her, Miyami wanted to at keep trying. It was the least she could do to try and make it up to those two vigilantes. Maybe those guys weren't so bad after all.

And the first step to take in that goal? The first good deed? Helping the Painter. Miyami needed to help her out, no matter what.
