Axel internalized those words perhaps more than was healthy. SHe couldn't have done this without him. Without the chaos before him that should be, and would be taken as a compliment, giving only a simple nod in turn, waiting for Ishtar to enter the helicopter before climbing up in after her, not needing the comfort of a conventional seat, filling the spare space on the floor with his back pressed against one of the metallic doors... this was all gonna lead to something. He just had to keep telling himself that. He'd helped Sonya, Sonya trusted him and now... he could see some return on the time he'd invested here. Ishtar, as Villains go, was probably the best employer he could have asked for but... he still had his own goals to consider in all of this.
As they approached this scene, he made sure everything was ready, a holographic screen appearing from his gauntlet, typing away at his forearm keypad with his free hand, his thoughts inputting several key inputs that wouldn't be efficient to input with a single hand to work with, ultimately making sure everything was a go and shooting Sonya a thumbs up before folding his arms and leaning back, letting her do her big show as he just... observed.
As she made her speech... worked up the crowd... got them chanting... where Ishtar may have seen some grand moment, some grand revolution she was causing to empower and bolsten her forces, Axel was seeing beyond the speech. To what they'd done here today. Without the protection of a screen between himself and the mess he had created. If he could swallow back his regrets he would but... guards were hurt, bleeding, injured, if not just dying or... outright dead, criminals who could be here for any number of reasons were being let out onto the streets and, as Ishtar had said...
None of this would be possible without him.
He stood from the helicopter, staggering out with loose steps behind Ishtar as her speech ended... she was speaking of promising him something. Some gift, some reward... he could think of any number of things but with a tinny sound akin to a breath through his rough speakers, he shook his head.
"I... Maybe later. I should.... there's gonna be a lot of technical forces working to quash all this. I'll work on making sure these criminals at least have a chance..." He shrugged, trying to joke. "I mean, even the cream of the crop won't make it to you if the heroes get here too quickly. I'll just... yeah." With another nod he rushed to the edge of the helicopter pad, the speed granted by his lighteweight yet powerful frame allowing him to hop and skip over the edges of the fences and concrete walls surrounding the prison, soon dissapearing amongst the rebellious numbers that were rushing headfirst towards the streets of Japan... towards innocent civilians. Towards the heroes that would stop them.
Axel had to question of this was all really worth what he wanted.
