If you come to fame not understanding who you are, it will define who you are. "I agree. I will try to convince him to sign up with you in the next round. Please treat him well, if not gentle."
Hachi leaned her head back a little. While it had been an excellent way to test her students in both their abilities and their behavior under pressure, the all-too-real threat of them being seriously hurt had nearly done her more harm than the villain herself. If any of them had been injured when out of her sight--or worse--she didn't know what she would do. Not as a hero, not as a teacher, certainly not as a human being. She'd lost too much already without losing anything else precious.
"I think my tip to you..." She buzzed again, humored by Mia's off-hand comment about her students. That reminded her of Mikhail, too. He'd learned. Mia wasn't a teacher, but given the time with some of UA's best and brightest, maybe she would, too. "Is not to be underestimating them. They're second-years--they've been through a year of rigorous training, not unlike the work we did as vigilantes. And they're all desperate to prove themselves to the world. They'll surprise you."
Well. If Hachi could blush, again, it would be all over her face like a red stain. Instead she just placed a claw over where her nose was and rubbed around it, like she were pinching it. "Lord. I've done quite well without a 'someone', perverted interest in my stinger or not. I..." She paused and raised her head to look at Mia. Girls? She'd been asked by--...oh. Well. Then. She coughed into her claws. "People will find a way to make a fetish out of anything. Even sharp horns or poison stingers."
Humanity could be dumb sometimes.
"Being a high school teacher only helps my case to not ever want a physical or romantic relationship. The UA online channels are, at times, as bad as a K-drama."
Hachi found herself smiling again, embarrassment put aside for now, at Mia. She wasn't sure what she had expect to hear from her question regarding Mia's place in the poll versus Hachi's own, but through the long list of possibilities, this was a good one. She didn't care for the popularity like it was her "reason" for being a hero, but when it came to an actual comparison of criminals handled, lives saved, and all of those proper heroic things, she wanted to come out on top. Understandable.
"I agree. And I appreciate that. Though I hope you do not mind how...little I'm interested in the ranks, even official ones. If I do wind up above or neck-and-neck with you in that regard...I would be less surprised, honestly. But," Hachi placed both her hands in her lap over her helmet, "I only hope that that competition, if it ever comes, can be friendly. Agreed, Kearney-kun?"

“Eh, I don’t think gentle’s on the table, but well I can certainly do.” She was definitely just teasing but for Red Horn’s nature it was hardly a surprise any of that coming out of her mouth. She was looking forward to seeing the kid either way, and whatever he was capable of, whether he was brave enough to let her get a taste of it or not. Mia scoffed a little at the idea she’d underestimate those kids. “Oh trust me, I know what some of your second years can do. Both from just watching that sports festival and some more…personal experience.” She teased a little before adding. “And no, I ain’t gonna tell ya who I’m talkin’ about.~” She teasingly remarked, not about to get any of the kids she’d sparred with in trouble, from Yusaku to Kouta she didn’t want any of them getting detention cause they sparred with a full pro without some sort of permission…or in Yusaku’s case, the shadier stuff she’d first caught him doing. “I’m sure all your kids are great just…like I said, seeing all my prime picks go elsewhere was a little deflating the last time. Like hearing your mom has a favorite kid and it ain’t you, only a little toned back.” Okay maybe not THAT serious even toned back but it was the best analogy Mia had for how it left her feeling. Not angry just…deflated.
Mia didn’t comment much more on the sexual stuff as it clearly wasn’t an ‘area’ Hachi seemed comfortable discussing, and she just chuckled idly at the bee woman’s reactions, sighing out through one of her little laughs in an odd state of bliss. “Yeah I getcha. Bunch of super power kids trying to be the best of the best. I can certainly imagine what their ‘drama’ is like.”
At the comment of competition, Mia had no frame of reference for Hachi really. She’d been a bit of an…outsider, in any sense of community there was between the heroes. She didn’t intend to be, sometimes she tried to make an effort but…she didn’t know what it was. She didn’t find it easy making friends with the others or even getting to know them. Beyond that hero who could summon a fucking lion headed centaur, she’d never had a good experience with a fellow hero beyond this one…
The idea of a friendly bit of competition? Something she’d definitely appreciate.
“Yeah.. even if you did come out on top in an official ranking system? It’d definitely be a friendly competition. I’d have a bit more ‘grit’ to it than anything we have now, maybe I’d get a little heated, but I promise I’d still absolutely respect the work you do. I’d just wanna make sure I do more.” She smirked a little and added as she leaned back. “I mean hey, nothing wrong with wanting to be a better hero is there? A more popular one…that has it’s issues. But a downright better hero? Hard to find fault in that whoever’s aimin’ for it.”

If you come to fame not understanding who you are, it will define who you are. Personal experience? Hachi had to take pause with that. Had there been students she met who she'd allowed to jump into combat with her for fun? That was against the rules. Mia knew that, too, because she was avoiding giving her the names of those students to keep them out of trouble. Well...while not exactly endearing, Hachi was not a saint in her own allowances for some of her students. She let things slide in certain situations. But would she have let them continue if she'd caught a fight--even a friendly one--in progress? Hard to say.
Oh well. The past was the past. She wasn't going to try to wrangle the information out of Mia, nor did she particularly want to. Better they find a professional hero to test their skills against than resort to vigilantism or something equally illegal and harder to explain.
"I'm sure it had nothing to do with them liking anyone else more...some may have just wanted to hone skills that didn't lend themselves to your style. I specifically requested those with flying abilities and didn't get all of the ones I wanted because they were more interested in groundwork," she shrugged her large shoulders, "Given another chance, there with definitely be some who chose differently that would love a chance with you now. I could give you a few with Quirks aligned with yours, if you want to try to get in touch with some?"
She chuckled softly. Her grumpy expression--was it rude to call it that?--was cute, even if the analogy was a bit extreme for the situation. She was so expressive.
I'm envious.
Her smile only grew as Mia accepted. It was still a hard smile to spot, but it was ever so slightly easier without her helmet on, and with her head tilted upwards. Hachi didn't have a bad relationship with any of her fellows, but she wouldn't call the majority of them "relations" to begin with. Casual conversations at best for most of them, save those she worked with at UA or her partner. Having somebody whom she could have a friendly work relation beyond partnership--and one where she could possibly get a little competitive with--would be nice.
"Then I look forward to if such a thing does happen. In the meanwhile, perhaps whomever catches the most illegals on the boat win this 'round'?" She might have been joking with how her tone grew ever so slightly sly, but she might also not have been. It was hard to tell.
Hachi paused and glanced at the door as she heard voices approaching. "Ah, seems they're here to talk, finally. This was pleasant, but we do have crime to stop. You'd think they'd be a little more punctual."

Mia wasn’t too sure what to make of the fact that Hachi didn’t pry in on the implication she’d been fighting with some of her students. Had she not caught the implication? Probably not the case. Hachi was pretty smart from what Mia could tell. Not to stereotype but that tended to be the case with those who liked to keep to themselves. Not to say she was specifically a math whiz, but quick on the mark, sharp witted? Mia only had a brief first impression so far, but all signs pointed to yes. She was very…emotionally inclined too. Her own voice was stern and firm but the way she talked about others gave the impression she knew how to read people very well, and how to potentially act around them. Maybe she wasn’t saying anything cause she didn’t mind. Maybe she wasn’t saying anything so the two of them remained on a more…pleasant stream of conversation. Mia hoped for the former, but it was certainly hard to tell.
With the talk about her seeking out flying students, Mia shook her head. “Have you seen me jump? I’m not exactly land locked.” She’d tease, but she waved an arm flippantly pretty quickly. By now her muscles had been subtly returning as she’d gotten some time to relax. Not quite the red titan the media knew, but a fair bit more muscle than their conversation had began with. “Nah though, I get it. I do. Like…I just wasn’t for them. Still just… feels like a gut punch ya know? As much as I got my own ego to fill with it, I do like the idea of being someone those kids might look up to…” She sighed softly through her nose. “That kid Jazz was…just right. She never stopped talkin’ about kickin’ my ass some day, telling me I had to be number 1 just so she had someone worthy of takin’ the throne from…ehehehe.” She smirked a little as her mood perked up. “That was the best kind of fan…not gonna lie I’m still kinda lookin’ for that and… seein’ all the kids are either too serious about their work, or too timid. It can leave me feelin’ a bit hollow.”
She idly rubbed the back of her neck, letting out a quiet comment. “I mean…heck. Forget the students. Only other hero I seem to share a nature with is hellhound, and she’s in a whole other hero-division.” She shrugged idly. “I ain’t about to start doubtin’ myself, but can make a girl wonder if she’s doin’ something wrong when she’s the only one of her kind ya know?”
She definitely didn’t mean to sound ‘special’ as she spoke about that, more coming from the heart as she tried to express an odd sensation of being the outsider. She was strong willed, but with Jazz gone, and no like-souls among students or heroes alike…even she could doubt her approach from time to time.
But. Never the kind to dwell on her downer emotions, Mia literally seemed to shake it out of her brain, ruffling the hair on either side of her head before lifting her eyes back up with a relieved sigh. “aaaagh!~ Enough of that shit though. I’m glad your interns are goin’ for ya. Ya should for real send that kid my way. I’m sure I’d be able to do somethin’ once I get a good look!~” With Hachi actually playing along with the idea of them getting a friendly rivalry going, she quirked a brow with a wide grin, genuinely surprised by this playful side of the Mama Bee, but giving a firm nod in response. “Hell yeah. They ain’t all equal though. If I take down thunder and you take down that Pinocchio kid, number 1 is definitely worth more points than number 5!~” She teased with a bright smile, offering a hand across to ‘shake’ on their joke deal.
Hearing the voices herself, Mia sighed through her nose, taking Hachis hand in a firm shake if the offer was taken before resting more into her seat. “Ah well. Was fun while it lasted…I mean.” She gestured over her slightly more toned physique. “Chattin’ with you literally put the life back in me…was good getting’ to know ya Yellow Jacket.”
