Almost is Never Enough [Storyteller]

She felt like she was making a fatal flaw, the idea that she was not able to answer the question on what he liked to do made it difficult to be concrete. She thought she had to think about what Mizuki liked, but she had not spoken to Hanako too often and especially not after offending her which was at the same moment that Yuuki figured out that she was already dating the hot security guy. Another tally on the list of how much times she thought that life wasn't fair. That she was always a step too late out on the open and in to the community, society, into love life. At least she made him laugh which was a good thing, the bad thing was that Mizuki's name was in the list of likes. Music, dancing. That was interesting, game related, so she had made a good guess on that. Heroism, did that mean vigilantes the way he explained it? He could definitely become a vigilante or a hero, especially if his quirk was so dangerous or scary. His favourite colour was purple! She should keep that in mind because obviously, she would now pick things with a purple colour. She did not have anything now to change colour into, which was good, she might accidentally do it and make the situation too awkward. "Bugs are very fascinating aren't they?" The way he said it, in the end, made her believe that it was very important, hence why she made a reference, maybe it was a mutual women thing but she hated bugs, they were creepy little crawlers. 

Her smile faltered when he said that he knew Hana long ago. Oh no, not the perfect romantic childhood sweetheart because that was a very difficult game to beat. She followed his gestures, his grin, his happy gestures, it was heartbreaking for the now blonde. "How romantic, and you immediately started dating?" She had to know, please say no, please say you dated other girls before, that meant Hanako was not his one and only. That meant that this could be broken even easier than the whole set of romantic childhood sweethearts. It felt like she was on thin ice and that her heart caught cracks in it and could break at any minute. 

Bugs, who could even like bugs, what was the whole ordeal with them and the whole presentation, yes they were interesting and the fact that they survived for aeons on, congratulations but what was the purpose of some of them, such as cockroaches and wasps, she did not get that and yes, it was nice for a caterpillar to become a beautiful butterfly but they did not have to come near her or on her skin or worse, in her hair, which happened all the time in spring. "Oh, how fascinating." Oh god his quirk was a Bug-type, yes hell no that she would be happy with that but she did not falter, her mask stayed on, she was winning, the show must go on. She must win, it was an all-out war soon and she would have no way of turning back or that would be an embarrassing thing to do. So she would continue, she noticed she had not asked about his disliked and that he clearly strayed away from that but she did not care, she would learn with time and she decided to ask about Hanako, which was her first mistake. They were childhood sweethearts, she could not help but not smile about that at this point but try to continue on. Questions, after questions, to know the essence of this game and how to fight it. "Well, there is something as love at first sight, okay maybe it would not be first sight as you two had seen each other as children but after nineteen years." What was Mizuki her age, Yuuki had never thought about that and that did not seem necessary but maybe now? She was younger than Mizuki, that could be a good thing.

She nodded, so-called interested in what was going on, so he had not been dating her right away, interesting. Hmpf, not the first but probably the last if it was up to him. If it was up to Yuuki, it would not be, she would show him how there were better woman out there than Mizuki, she would find proof of her previous relationship and that she had been cheating. It would work and he would be heartbroken and come crying to the woman who would never use him like that, Yuuki. She would be perfect. She thought she heard a strange sound and looked up. "That's cute." She finally decided to say and turned back her eyes to Gabe, yes, it was, puke worthy cute.

She had killed it, she had done it, she had made it worse, it was horrible how she had started the conversation to get to know him better but by asking about Mizuki, she had made her own mood foul and thus had now killed the conversation in retrospect that was not what she wanted to have done, it made her want to cry. But she did not, for it would not work if she did that now, it would only make it work. A few thoughts went through her mind. First of all, she checked if her tea was finished but that the last sip was cold and she did not want to think about it much, she should put it at the sink or take with her, but considering the conversation was over and yet he suggested she would escort him down, she would not take the mug with her. When she made the motion to stand up from her chair, she remembered Hanako's clumsiness and that she wanted to try that out. She looked surprised though, half in the motion of getting up when she noticed his hand and looked surprised up to see his face but quickly accepted to just get to enjoy that moment, it would be a shame if she could not. She would bring the cup to the sink but decided when she returned to him, wanting to start saying she would come along: "A bit of fresh air-" but she so called stumbled over the chair, she had planned it out and was ready to let herself fall, so it did look real. She wanted him to catch her, would that even be possible, could she end up in his arms. 

It was a daydream to wake up in, if only it was possible. 

It was like opening a magic door, suddenly it seemed to be a much more achievable goal than it had been before. Now that she stumbled, all on command, of course, but that did not change the fact that his hand slipped around her waist, being pulled out of the problem, back into safety, which was in his arms. "Oops, clumsy me." She said with an attempt of an embarrassed giggle. She took instantly a step back when she was no her feet, he let her go and she should not push her luck too much right now. This was a better first attempt with the war about his heart starting, not that anyone knew about that and they did not have to know either. But she would push Nifuji to ask Gabe to come to the Friday party with him, Nifuji might make it less suspicious than she would do. It was a shame that Hanako had said nothing before, now she was definitely on the wrong foot. 

However, she stared at their hands, walking one step behind as he took her hand and simply helped her out of the room and down the stairs, what? Is this what he always did? If she was Hanako, she would be very jealous, that might explain why... she blushed but shook her head lightly to get it out of her system, she could not afford to blush right now that would ruin the game. She noticed that as soon as Nifuji would be able to see them, Gabe let go of her hand and she held on to it herself. She decided to walk outside to talk to Nifuji as if it was the most normal thing she could do. "I told Hajimari about the Friday party, he should definitely come along don't you think?" She waved around enthusiastic, it might work, with that, someone snatched her small purse, which she had been carrying in case she would buy lunch, with her. It took her about ten seconds to notice, "Huh?" 

As Yuuki tried to get Nifuji to be just as enthusiastic, because it meant that with Hanako ill, he would have to come by himself and as he would only know Nifuji and her, that meant she would be on the top of the list to speak to! It was a great way of thinking and it should work perfectly! Yes, this plan was going to work because Nifuji seemed to not and agree, that's when she lost her purse, she should definitely not keep it up in the air but she noticed as her fingers touched each other without anything in between and she stared after the person that ran off. Surely she knew that there were thieves in Tokyo but this had never happened before. Which made her stand there like a frozen person, eh, everything was in there. Pictures of her siblings and her credit card and the like. Nifuji sprinted past her but so did G and she held up her hands holding herself because oh god what had she done. Nifuji was too slow compared to G and his quirk and came back to her asking if she was okay. She nodded, almost crying, tears in the corners of her eyes, she lost so many things with that. 

But not only Nifuji came back, G and followed by something that looked like a giant version of a bug, which meant she had to fill in the gaps in her brain. She shook a bit more and took her purse and looked at it and nodded. "Huh?" She wasn't paying attention, press charges, she looked at the thief and wondered if that really worked. "H-hai." She nodded and Nifuji already offered to take it over. With a bright red face, Yuuki thought it might be smarter to go inside. She did not dare to look at G and his quirk, she should compliment it. "S-sorry, I feel so stupid." She decided to say while looking at her shoes. Best way to avoid and yet to continue talking.
