Watching Jaz deal with the kid, she watched her approach and at first expected her to deck him. On the one hand, was probably a good thing if the bunch of them woke up like an hour later, meant their recounting of this was gonna be less credible, so less odds of Jaz actually getting in trouble for this. Though...as she actually started to speak up, Mia felt a sense of pride. It started a little cliche, with the whole 'I'd be no better than you' thing, but really it wasn't too bad. She was right, stooping to their level was never good, and while a sense of circumstances was always important, she seemed to be taking the high road and this was always a good thing as it all went.
The punk himself who had been covering his head, not expecting to be arrested just...not wanting his skull cracked, slowly started to rise, still very timid and flinching at every motion Jaz made that looked like it might lead into something else. When she provided the borderline ultimatum that he should take this opportunity to make a change well...the rest of the gang may not buy into it when they woke up, but for this moment at the very least he suddenly felt like he could actually take those words in. He nodded along, and when given the chance, looked between the two blondes before darting off to his buddies, picking up those he could and..well he stacked the other two against tubby. He didn't really have many options to move till he woke up, and he had too much blubber to give him a slap that might bring him back to the waking world.
Mia lifted her chin up, watching the goons collect themselves for a moment, silently dipping her head out around the corner of the alley and out into the street. Once the two got moving a little, Mia would glance back behind them, doubly making sure nothing was going on with the goons that might lead to one of them overhearing (not that it mattered, it was just an instinctual sense that made her check) before looking back to Jaz. Her hand lifted, about to pat down on her shoulder...but instead she hooked an arm around her head entirely, tugging the smaller girl into her side, her cheek resting into her chest a little thanks to Mia's own height, just grinning wide.
"It's sappy, but yer gonna make a great hero kid. Maybe better than me if yer talking like that now. Heck at your age I woulda made that last one taste the ground under the tarmac..." She gave his head a little squeez in her beefy arm before gently releasing her and rubbing up and down her back. "Sorry. Just...look you ain't gonna be number one till I retire, but with an attitude like that you're gonna make a damn fine number 2 kiddo." She held a wide smirk, winking at the younger blonde.

Jasmine took a few minutes to watch the kid do exactly as he was told. She sunk into a hip as she folded her arms, watching on with a small smile in her face. While what she said was definitely cheesy and a borderline cliche on some level, it didn't make her words any less true. Street justice was something she had been very prone to deal to just about anyone she thought was a piece of shit that deserved it. Now, though? Now she was trying to be something... more. Something special. While sometimes a fist to the face was definitely the right answer she needed to do more. Hopefully what she had now said would translate into that.
The blonde lioness had been thinking about it for a while now. What did it mean to be a hero? She was well aware of the why that pushed her towards becoming a hero. It was home. There were so many stigmas in New York surroundings people with quirks, or 'Quirkers' as they liked to call them. While the numbers of sympathizers were growing there were still so many people who still felt a racial type of hate towards people with abilities they did not understand. It was fear. Maybe even jealousy. But those with special abilities like herself had been shunned. That was why she wanted to be a Hero. To proverbially cleanse the street of both the rabble and the bad rep that they brought with them.
That, eventually, fed into what it meant for Jasmine to be a hero. It wasn't just some kind of self-appointed do-gooder like a vigilante, nor was it some kind of public defender with a badge. No, it was more than that. It was an ideal. Something to believe in. That thought had begun stirring in her whenever she saw kids chatting amongst themselves about the current Pro Heroes - one of which was standing next to her right at this very moment. They looked up to her. Tried to be like her and mimic her behaviors. On the other side of the spectrum there were the villains - they knew exactly what they were up against whenever they saw a Pro and that was highlighted by the first showdown they had today in that store. When that toad jackass realized it was Red Horn standing in front of him the guy nearly pissed his pants.
That's exactly what Jasmine wanted. Winning was important - it would always hold a large part of who she was. But a Pro hero was just... more. She wanted to be an ideal. A symbol. Something that gave people hope and made evil think twice before rearing its ugly face; a beacon that shone through the darkness, illuminating the road towards a new morning. hat's what being a Pro Hero meant for Jasmine Noir, and she held that ideal very close to her heart.
Trying to define to herself what being a Pro Hero ultimately meant had Jasmine a little off guard. She was taken slightly by surprise when an arm was suddenly slung around her shoulders... ah who was she kidding, she hadn't even realized the two of them had already left the alley.
"O-oi... you're gonna suffocate me," Jasmine said, trying to pull Mia's humongous arm off of herself. While Jasmine never really paid any mind to compliments or insults altogether, what Red Horn said had... left its mark on her. It wasn't too easily visible and it definitely wasn't something that anybody other than Jasmine herself would be able to discern but... for the briefest of seconds the lioness had hidden her face in the meat of Mia's arm, a small smile making its way to her facial features as she felt a light warmth bubble up in her chest.
"Retire my ass," Jasmine would then suddenly say, aiming a sharp stab to Mia's gut with her fingers... one that would sting just enough to have Mia loosen her grip so the lioness could slither out of it. "I'll be tearing your throne down loooooooong before your prime passes, horny. Mark my words," the younger American replied, flashing the pro a wide, toothy grin as she did so.

Mia held the grip on Jaz's head a fair bit softer when it registered that the girl was enjoying her words, even as she seemed to be hiding her face. To see the blonde actually look like they were getting borderline bashful was a nice sight. Sure, Mia herself found it hard to be brought to that state, but...it helped her feel like her words actually mattered to the girl before her. Like...yeah. She couldn't place the feeling, but whatever equal sense she had with Jaz, or big sisterly vibe, or just plain being a mentor, it resonated well with this moment, even if she wasn't gonna poke at Jaz's pride by pointing out that she noticed it.
She did however wince at the poke at her fucking stab wound, indeed loosening up enough for the girl in her grasp to pull away, shooting her a half playful, half dirty look as she registered the pain now radiating again from her gut. "Oh yeah? Well stab wound dosn't have me at my peak so let's make sure that heals before ya start ripping me out of my comfy ass throne.~" She reached for her hair, ruffling the top of her head briefly with a chuckle, but a good natured one at the very least. "Nah kid, honestly, that's good to hear! I wouldn't have it any other way! Once they announce I'm the next number one-!" SHe spoke with a bold sense of confidence as she said this. "I need someone keeping me on my toes and at my best. I'd almost be insulted if it weren't you doing it." She offered a cheek grin and a wink as she rested her hands on her hips, the pain still radiating from her gut thanks to the aggravated wound, but managing to smile strongly through it.

Jasmine rolled her eyes at Mia's attempt to look tough when the pro hero was clearly in pain. Though honestly despite the very often rebelious attitude from Jaz the girl, even if she wouldn't be caught dead saying it, respected and actually liked the older American blonde. It was a strange relationship that she had with her - something of an admiration borderling rivalry, if one could even call it that considering the difference in their abilities. Though, for Jaz, that was nothing more than a welcome challenge. The girl thrived when the odds were against her and it was no different now - while Mia was definitely strong and a massive hurdle to cross, the lioness was fully itending to go through her without a single shred of hesitation, fully confident in her own abilities. She just needed time to improve. Time and ingenuity.
A soft chuckle left the younger blonde at Mia's words, "Yeah yeah, you enjoy the view from up there. But how about meanwhile we get you looked at? Act tough all you want, shit gets infected you can stop dreaming about slamming nerds around in dark alleys, let alone being the top hero," she explained, pointing at the older woman's stab wound. "There's a clinic near by, pretty sure they'd be more than happy to treat the mighty Red Horn, assuming they're not afraid of your abs breaking their scalpels."
