She had to give it to him, Nick Cross was resilient if anything, especially when he endured the attack upon his crotch! Perhaps it was his armor? She had no idea if it even possessed a weak spot! His head and his crotch were both equally hard, and if it wasn't for the nature of this situation she would have likely been inclined to make a witty joke about that. Meanwhile the fiend of a villain had regained his composure, wincing and snarling that he had more surprises in store for her. However, she didn't expect something like 'that' to happen. As he rushed toward her Elise braced herself for another dodging maneuver, but the sight of the monstrous tendrils erupting from his palms mid-motion came unexpected! Rapidly she bounced to the side as the first swing came at her, a long vertical sweep that came downwards with the intention to crush her, but Elise's speed was superior to his handling skill of the tentacles! Bouncing from the side onto the top of the lashed out tendril Elise decided to show just how acrobatic the nimble little vixen was, the sideways slash of the second tendril making her use the first tendril like a platform to bounce higher, and yet it was at that time she felt her body slowing down mid-maneuver, the familiar sting of pain coursing through her body: she might had lacked bones but her body still had endured the hard impact of being kicked into the vendor stall. It was for that reason Nick had the opportunity he sought, the slippery tendril smacking the airborne blob down with the viciousness of an ogre wielding a club! Pain coursed through her entire body, yet Nick was far from done with his frenzy, as a final tendril smacked the slime several meters through the air and made her bounce like a thrown rock to the ground, her body rolling to a stand-still as she felt her core growing warm and with a small burst of liquid revert her form back to normal. "Gah..." The girl panted in pain, a horrible coughing fit overcoming her as a bit of blood was spat onto the ground. Her body felt like every muscle was in pain. A hand pressed onto the ground, attempting to push herself upright, but it didn't seem to be enough. Her body collapsed back onto its side, her vision blurry. Rin should have gotten away by now, right? Surely the pro-heroes and police would arrive on the scene soon. She had done her part more than enough. And yet, was it enough? "Not yet..." Elise muttered under her breath as she pushed her body up with both hands and glared up at Nick as her body shakingly grasped at a silverish object on a nearby table. "I don't care what price it demands of me... Even if it's my life..."Another pained cough escaped her mouth, a hand wiping away the traces of blood from her lips as she took a unsteady step forwards. "I won't..." she could feel the heat of her core, the sliver of fluids left in it, she didn't care what it would take, no... let her pay the price that it required to have the power to fight this monster! "I WON'T LET YOU CONTINUE TO TERRORIZE MY FRIEND!"Darting forwards the burgundy-haired lass felt the familiar rush of warm radiate from her core, the fluids flowing outwards as her body reverted back into a blob, several rapid bounces being made as she charged straight at him. This was it... her last stand, her defiance in the face of evil, her moment of going Plus Ultra, and it would have its consequences! If Nick lashed out with a tendril he would no doubt notice that the moment he landed a hit, that it had only been a glancing blow, and that a painful sting would have been felt, one accompanied by a possible leakage of whatever fluids were inside the tendril! Obiligatory Music

The petulant bitch might have been faster than Nick, but his tendrils gave him the little extra he needed to still succeed in striking her several times over. He let out a wicked chortle with each successful hit until he was full on laughing gleefully at the pain he was dishing out. This fucking nobody thought she could take his Rin from him? This was what she got.
She fell back from him and her slimy body reverted back to its human shape. Nick retracted his tendrils and walked towards her. A quick and simple neck snap would be the easiest and fastest way to end this, he figured.
He heard her muttering as he approached. His eyes narrowed in bemusement; she was talking about how she was not going to give up, like she thought she was the protagonist of some grand adventure. He snorted derisively. “Cut the chatter, would you? We’re not starring in a JRPG here!”
Seriously, if she began giving long-winded speeches about the powers of friendship and teamwork he would not have been surprised.
She came at him with everything she had and then some. He could see it in her eyes; it was a determined fire that gave even someone as dark inside as him a jolt of fear.
Shit, she really believes that crap!
All he could think to do in those split seconds was meet her head on. He slammed his hands against the ground with such force he left cracks across the tarmac. He did this to launch himself forward through the air like an incoming bomb. He cocked a fist back, roaring so furiously even the most savage of the world’s predators would have been terrified.

What was fear in the face of an opponent who was ready to put her life on the line? Indeed, even as Nick roared furiously it seemed to do little to slow down the charging Elise, and with the way he cocked back his fist the trajectory of his swing would be easy to predict: a powerful and brutal swing, but one which lacked speed!
If he had swing his arm forwards to deliver it, she would have bounced sideways and up into the air right next to his arm, the same silver glint as before coming from her as she tried to carve the object she had carried with her along his arm. Being that she was a medical student Elise desperately tried to use her knowledge of the human body to aim at the weak points of his arm, the object she carried with her soon revealing the reason why any attack landed by her would suddenly have a cutting property...
As she rose past his arm the girl spun her body around in mid-air, her upper-body forming again as she raised both hands into the air, the silver glint from before now clearly visible in nature: a knife she had picked up earlier from a vendor stall which was selling food!
"HYAAAAAAAAAH!" With a almost feral way-cry the girl tried to attack the armored monster from a blind spot, the back of his neck! She knew all too well that frontal attacks, even with her superior speed and mobility would be difficult to execute if he had those tendrils, but what about having an attack from a angle he couldn't react from?!
Even while her body protested fiercely to this craziness, Elise ignored the pain as she attempted to plunge the knife into his neck, right near where the mysterious growth on his back was situated! It was only sheer coincidence that she had attacked right where his weak spot was, but surely this would cause some damage?
"I'LL PROTECT RIN!"
This might had not been a roleplaying game, nor some sort of fairy-tale, but if they thought this was enough to make Elise hesitate to do what had to be done, then they'd better think again! By now the crowds had already made their distance, and from far away the sound of sirens could be heard, although the softness of the noise made it clear they were still a fair distance away!

Nick’s flying punch, though full of fury and hatred, was not enough. She dodged him completely and his fist instead impacted with the ground and shattered the tarmac. His armour absorbed most of the impact but he was still rattled and left momentarily stunned.
He was slapped back to reality by the sight of her dropping back towards him with something silver glinting in her hand -
Shit!
He tried to jump out of the way but was not quite fast enough and the blade pierced his side, tearing a gash through the armour and leaving a blazing red streak across the skin beneath.
He landed flat on his face. The strength was rapidly leaving his body like water down a plughole.
Fuck fuck fuck it hurts!
Everything hurt, but there was nothing he could do. He felt his armour turn back into its liquid-like state and let out a small screech of despair as it began to recede.
It was then he saw it: the Scorpox action figure, lying on the ground less than a foot away. He closed his eyes and he was there again, lying on the sofa with her in his arms far from her father and his mother and everyone else who would ever want to hurt them or take her away from him...
“Why…”
His fingers dug into the ground.
“Can I never…”
He began to push himself back up.
“Have anything I want?”
He summoned every last dying ember he had within him to force his armour back over his body. His muscles screamed in protest and he tasted blood in his mouth but he did not care.
She won’t take her from me she won’t she won’t SHE WON’T
Howling a terrible howl that sounded more like a desperate, agony-stricken wail than anything fearsome or defiant, he charged again. His body felt as though it were being torn apart but it did not matter to him. His tendrils erupted from his palms once more as he blitzed towards her with speed that greatly surpassed that of before.

It worked! As she bounced onto the ground after her eyes gazed down upon the body of the armored villain who tried to jump out of the way, but instead only partly avoided her attack. It seemed that even with the armor bestowed onto him, Nick Cross still felt the effect of the pain, with the way he was lying there on his face he almost looked pitiful. With the armor regressing into a liquid-like state as he spoke words that made her glare down at him. "Haven't you realized yet?" She began, feeling her body tremble lightly in anger.
"You can't claim her by force." She bounced a step closer, still warily eying him. "Even after that despicable crime of yours..."
She felt her mind briefly thinking back about that eventful night, the stage... Rin's expression as Jasmine confessed to her. "Even after you raped her, you never owned her... RIN NEVER BELONGED TO YOU!" No, there was someone else who had claimed Rin's heart, someone else who made her smile in a way nobody else did, at least that was what Elise believed as she recalled that sight. However, hearing the dreadful howl Elise realized too late what the man was going through, the armor encasing his body once more as Elise rapidly lunged forwards with her drawn knife.
Nick turned around, the tendrils erupting from the palm of his hands and lashed straight at her. Bouncing upwards she sliced with her knife at an incoming tendril, but the way that Nick was pushing his body made it seem he was somewhat faster than normal! A tendril thrust forward like a drill toward her, pinning her airborne body in mid-air as she felt the slime trying to mold itself back together. She needed to act quickly!
He couldn't! Her concern seemingly was justified, as a final tendril curled up similar to a fist and pierced straight through the gap the other tendril had made, smashing straight into her core! A pained cry escaped from her as she felt as if her entire body got crushed underneath the pressure, and using the last of her strength she made a large leap backward trying to enlarge the distance between herself and the villain. With a soft bounce, she landed on the ground, her body molding back over her core as she rose upwards, several bounces forwards being made when suddenly she felt a burning sensation in her core, a splash of liquid erupting from around her body as she collapsed onto the ground.
The sirens were close now, and she could see a figure approaching from among the crowd. "Te...tsu?" the burgundy-haired lass panted as she climbed back onto her feet. "That man... He... Rin... suffering..." Panting those few words Elise was determined to ensure the man would be arrested. All she needed was a final bit of effort!
Trying to force her core back into activity she took a step forward, and there it went wrong.
Badum!!! Badum!!! Badum!!!
she felt a sharp sting in the area her core was at, a pain horrible enough to make her entire body make a violent spasm. She felt her legs giving way, another pained cough following.
Badum!! Badum!!
She could feel her heartbeat beating erratically, another cough making her realize blood stains had splattered before her, seemingly coughed up by herself. It was clear that she had suffered some internal damage by getting her core hit.
badum...
She had to push onwards, she looked at Tetsuko, the fact she was here must had been a sign. If she searched blindly along the area it would have taken too long, so surely Rin must... she must have been safe... And then silence. She couldn't even hear her own heartbeat anymore, her vision growing blurred as the last of her strength faded from her body. She collapsed flat on the ground, seeing the man she had fought.
He had been unable to kidnap her, she had protected Rin. Her breathing started to slow down, it was alright... surely Tetsuko could handle the rest. The pain started to get numbed as exhaustion overcame her, her eyes slowly closing as a final thought lingered in her mind:
I was finally... able to keep my promise Rin...
And then... .. . Everything went dark.

Post by Tetsuko Shindou on Oct 31, 2018 7:42:44 GMT -4
"T-Tetsu?! I-it's Rin. E-E-Elise is in... ... hurry! T-to.. t-this address.." The sword was a simple weapon, yet, one that permeated the history of human combat. Thousands of years had perfected and branched its purpose and design, yet one truth about the weapon's performance remained self-evident. For this tool designed to cut and pierce and slash, one aspect was the foremost determiner of its effectiveness, and thus, the lacking of this quality indicated being useless. A sword that was dull was a sword that could not achieve its purpose. Sure, you could strike and swing the ineffectual slab of metal, but even Musashi himself admitted anything short of cutting was pointless and foolish. A foolish and blunt weapon. That was exactly what Tetsuko Shindou, the living blade, felt like right now. Her feet pounded against the pavement, her body moving fast through the chilly Autumn night. Tetsuko had been planning to surprise Elise with a nice kimono, but she'd long since shed it so she could run faster, leaving her in the simple white hadajuban she'd had on underneath. It was light as anything, leaving her skin chilled by the air. Dressed not nearly as extravagantly as others, the Shindou girl felt like a mortal among monsters on this wicked and twisted night. What an apt way to feel too. Like everything around her was vicious and bloodthirsty, like nothing around her possessed the humanity she hoped it would. Everything was so cruel, to her and the ones she loved. The one she loved. The one she'd failed to protect. Her head pounded like a jackhammer, racing along faster than her body could. Why? Why was this...? Why was the world...? Why was she...? Ever since Rin's words had fallen upon her ears, Tetsuko had been running, sprinting as fast as she goddamn could toward the place she was supposed to be meeting Elise. Every single twisted fucking possibility, every potential tragedy and misfortune had run through her mind and distorted her view of the world around her. Like she was seeing the screwed up truth of the world yet again. How many times would she do this? How many times would she run after it was too late? The music night, the Eisenbergs, the military camp and now this? What God had she displeased to suffer the pain of failing the person she loved most over and over and over! She wanted to scream. She wanted to scream til her lungs broke. Yet, somehow, she couldn't. All she could do was run. Screaming, crying, whatever emotional reaction she desired, it could not be afforded. To lament her own weakness like a whining child was not something she deserved. So Tetsuko just kept on running, her breath heavy against the air, her eyes wild with shock and such an unthinkable pain, as the crowds began to thin while she approached the destination. Some were moving quickly around her. None were going the same way. Was there a God in this world? Perhaps. It wasn't something Tetsuko had ever had the intellect or knowledge to prove or disprove. Was that God benevolent and kind? Now that question, Tetsuko could answer. Not through study or logical deduction. Through personal experience. Anecdotes were a fallacy, sure, but Tetsuko could not fathom any explanation for what kept on happening to the girl she loved. No explanation short of utter cruelty. "ELISE!"Her eyes widened at the scene before her as she ruthlessly shoved through the crowd. It was a simple setting laid out before the swordswoman, but the information received had her head spinning. There was the odd armored man, standing close by, evidently having attacked Elise. There were the words spoken by the Germanic girl, claiming he had something to do with Rin's suffering. And there was Elise herself, lying on the ground, hurt. The light itself fading away from her eyes. And there was nothing else in the world at that moment. "..." Tetsuko stepped forward, her mind coming to a halt, her thoughts all shed as a dark clarity washed over her. Her intent became so clear to her as she fixed her eyes on Elise's body. Unmoving, having collapsed in her own blood. Tetsuko feared the worst, and almost felt her body collapse entirely, but Elise was... She was still breathing! She had to be! With everything else in her mind having devolved into an utter mess, Tetsuko would stand by Elise's body as that darkness began to consume her, emanate off of her as she set her eyes on the man who'd done this to Elise. The man she'd failed to save Elise from. Useless. Broken, blunt, without any purpose. That was what the Shindou girl knew she was, clearer than ever. Yet in spite of this, she felt such a burning desire and intention deep within her. Unwavering and… Immovable. Like everything was OK if she could just cut open the throat of the man before them. That urge to scream rose again in Tetsuko's chest, but she suppressed it, instead causing her to give a beastly grimace as she looked to Nick. Iron sprouted from her own hand, rapidly forming into a blade that she held at her side, though her intention became clear. In that moment, with nothing else existing outside of Elise and the man who'd hurt her, Tetsuko's intentions felt crystal fucking clear. With heavy and steady breaths, she just stared into Nick. No words were needed to convey what she was saying. ’I will kill you.'
Nothing made any fucking sense in those moments, but Tetsuko knew this man was the enemy. Rin was hurt by him. Elise was… Fuck… She didn’t even know, she didn’t even…. Tetsuko felt so numb and cold, the only comfort coming from that darkness that continued to guide. Like another hand, wrapped around her own, holding that blade firm with her… And guiding it to where it was best placed. She knew nothing. She just knew she had to let it guide her blade until she could confirm Elise would not be harmed further. Her failures… She couldn’t let Elise suffer from them anymore.

Nick was no longer laughing. His body felt as though gigantic invisible hands were trying to pull him apart from every corner. His head was about to burst. He was going to throw up all of his innards.
None of it mattered to him. All he cared about were the tears welling up in his eyes, not from his physical pain, but from his emotional devastation. He had been so close. Rin had been right there. He had almost had her back.
And this bitch…
This little whore…
“Rin is mine!” he howled. Blood gargled up in his mouth but it meant nothing to him. “I had her first! You’re no one!”
I’ll kill her I’ll kill her I’ll kill her I’LL KILL HER
He shambled towards the fallen girl like a zombie in a low budget B-movie. Every movement he made was agony, but he pressed on regardless from sheer determination to break this girl’s neck for daring to ever deny him what he wanted most.
He did not make it to her. The universe was far from done denying him things, it seemed, for out of the surrounding crowd some other girl came rushing. He turned his head to her just in time to see her form a sword. He blinked.
“Who the hell…”
An inferno of rage erupted within him and he let it all out in a scream, but the sound of sirens pierced through it. Increasingly loud sirens.
No…
He had to run. It was weak and cowardly and he hated that with every fibre of his being, but he knew he would hate being thrown into a prison cell more. Dredging up all the strength he had left, he turned and leapt towards a nearby building, catching one of its upper windowsills and then pulling himself up and leaping from that to reach the roof. He hurtled down the fire escape at the other side of the building before his legs gave out.
Now his armour finally receded. The pain in his body was indescribable. He did not even get a chance to take in the dark alleyway around him before everything faded to black.

It was fortunate for him that Nick had chosen the option of flight instead of fight, because mere moments after he made his escape several police officers arrived at the scene moments after Nick started running. "Search the area! He can't have gone far!" one of them told his companions as two officers ran into the direction Nick escaped from. Meanwhile, the remaining agents quickly started to try to restore order. Meanwhile one of them approached Tetsuko, a wary look in his eyes at the sight of the drawn blade. "It's alright young miss, that man won't get far, now please withdraw your weapon. Can you-"
His eyes gazed over toward the collapsed girl at her side, seeing the blood stains and quickly pulled out a small device from his breast-pocket. "This is 503, send 119 to Tokyo Plaza, the following address. We have an injured civilian."
However, as he crouched down beside her and tried to gently roll her onto her back he realized that his earlier assumption was incorrect. "Do you know her?" the man asked Tetsuko as he started to address the girl "Miss? Can you hear me?" A gentle tap against her cheek was made to try to provoke a reaction, but no response came. However, the cause of alarm came when he checked her pulse. "!!" because there was no pulse to be found.
Considering Tetsuko had no doubt answered his earlier question he was quick to address her. "I need you to stay calm when you hear this: Please administer CPR to her, she is lacking a pulse or heartbeat, it's likely she has gone into cardiac arrest, I'm going to call for help."
Clearly trying to sound sympathetic rather than worried the man rose onto his feet and pulled out the same radio device from before. "This is 503, urgent medical care required, I repeat urgent medical care is required at Tokyo plaza."
Meanwhile, while Tetsuko was tending to Elise one of the officers would return, his words seemingly provoking an angry scoff from him. "Who cares if she used her quirk? This girl is dying! We need to get her to a hospital, not a cell!"
It didn't take long for an ambulance to arrive shortly afterward and a brief exchange with the officer allowed Tetsuko to accompany her lover to the hospital. How long it must had felt for Tetsuko, how haunting the feeling as she was forced to wait for the doctors to finish their treatment. Hours might have passed as Elise was in the emergency care when finally a doctor came outside and looked into Tetsuko's direction. Raising a hand to his mask he removed the piece covering his mouth, his expression somber as he finally addressed her.
"I'm... sorry..."
If there had been a god in this world, then it would have been without a doubt one of the cruelest entities in existence. Although Nick Cross had been stopped from kidnapping Rin, the price that was paid for doing so had made itself known.

Why did this have to happen?
Nothing was making sense, nothing but Tetsuko's sincerest urges. The desire to keep Elise safe from any and all harm. The desire to end the life of the man who'd hurt her. The desire to stop being such a failure. There was nothing else the Shindou girl truly understood in those numb and frigid moments. Nick's words about Rin were just more noise to the cacophony in her head, though the weight of them would be understood later. Deep down, Tetsuko Shindou already knew the man she was looking at was responsible for so much pain. For the suffering of the girl that Rin Kurama used to be.
Holding her sword tightly, that dark intent coursed through her, urging her to move, to strike. She had an itchy trigger finger, and Nick's primal scream didn't help. The pure, ugly rage wasn't that of a human's. This armored figure before Tetsuko was something decidedly more savage, more animalistic. So it wasn't much surprise when the beast of a man had to listen to his fight or flight responses, the nearing sirens that only added to the 'noise' for Tetsuko, were instead an exorcizing call to Nick. The beast fled with inhuman strength, Tetsuko's first instinct to give chase. Yet a stronger instinct prevented her from taking another step. An invisible force that would not allow her to leave the side of her wounded lover.
Feeling the dark hand loosen its grip, the swordswoman felt like the very foundations that were holding her up were crumbling away. Leaving a weak and shaky structure behind. The police officer's words fell upon deaf ears as Tetsuko stood silent, frozen in shock before she finally dropped her blade, letting it shatter along the ground along with what remained of her dark calm. "Oh God..." Dropping to her knees, Tetsuko's eyes widened in shock, stomach churned and skin grew cold, as she laid eyes on her lover's body.
Lifeless.
But she had to be alive.
She couldn't...
Medic. Needed a medic. Right then, right now. Tetusko's hands trembled as she brought them to her distraught face. The officer asked if she knew Elise, but Tetsuko couldn't utter a proper answer. "Medic... Where's a medic? Get one here... Get..." The officer was trying to check Elise's pulse. His reaction only increased the volume of the growing white noise in Tetsuko's head. There was no describing how she felt. No description for the paradoxical fusion of numbness and unspeakable pain.
To think the officer told her to stay calm.
Nothing matters now. Do what he says. That was what Tetsuko's limited ability to still respond to commands told her, and she quickly followed. Maybe this was all a joke. She knelt beside her lover, hands placed over her chest as she began her reputation, administering the limited first aid she knew. "C'mon Eli, this isn't funny, y'know?" What a dumb joke. Not funny at all. "Open your eyes Eli... Please..." Her hands continued to press hard with each rhythmic repetition. Ribs weren't spared, perhaps the greatest hint that Tetsuko... Knew this was real. What a reality to have to accept.
"Wake up... Open... Please..." Tears fell against the unmoving body.
It was a truly
terrible
joke.
"PLEASE!" A roar of a sob bellowed out as Tetsuko felt the strength in her whole body waver. The noise in her head gave way to single inescapable truth. She'd failed. This time, perhaps, for good. Everything was lost. Officers returned, and the broken blade barely head what they were saying as they began to take Elise way to the hospital. Maybe everything could be saved. Maybe they could fix her where Tetsuko had failed. Of course, they had the greatest chance of anyone. It wasn't like she could do a damn thing to protect the people she cared about.
A dull blade was useless, after all.
Tetsuko... Would never forget those hours she spent in the hospital room. Hours had passed, but it felt much, much longer. The Shindou girl had been provided with a small eternity to sit. And wait. And tremble. And realize how fucking useless she was. Yet, for all that time, she held out hope. The alternative was far too frightening. Even if she was useless and weak and pathetic and stupid and... Even if she couldn't do anything, even if she didn't deserve to be there, waiting for the news, maybe someone else could at least...
Maybe someone could do something. Maybe God would have mercy, and recognize that Elise wasn't the one deserving of punishment. That she didn't deserve to suffer because of Tetsuko's own failures.
Or maybe
God would keep playing
his cruel joke.
The next few moments didn't matter. It was all a blur, and it was the blur that ended the world. Tetsuko heard the doctor speak after he came back, but nothing more. The noise was louder than ever. Her body became cold and numb, it shuddered with the harsh reality. She wanted to cry out, to scream and sob, but all she did was stand there. Frozen. Broken.
Useless.
