Kenshin had a lot of things on his mind recently. Things that were distracting him from his sword training. After having been knocked down to the floor so easily by his mother's sword, she could tell that something was bothering the boy. However, Kenshin insisted that he was fine, and he just needed to take a walk for a while to clear his mind. Heading out the door, Kenshin kept walking and walking. Eventually, he found himself on the outskirts of Tokyo. Away from the city noise, perhaps Kenshin would have an easier time gathering his thoughts and thinking about what it was that kept his mind occupied. First, there was those fights with both Tetsuko and Maximillian. The boy felt bitter having lost both of those fights. Those two were very skilled opponents, and Kenshin was determined to one day beat both of them in a rematch. He did not take failure well. After all, if he could lose against anyone, then that meant that a villain could come in and cause harm, and Kenshin would not be strong enough to stop them. That could never be allowed to happen! Then there was UA. The hero school that Kenshin had excitedly signed up for when he turned 14. Having been sent a letter of rejection, Kenshin was utterly devastated. Why? Why had he not been accepted? Was he not good enough for them? He worked hard, trained hard, kept up with his schoolwork and got excellent grades. So why? Why did the school reject his application? Was he lacking something? Kenshin still had no answer as to why UA did not want someone as talented and hard working as him. It has been a few months since that day, but thoughts of that rejection continued to pound on the boy's brain nonstop. Why did it bother him so much? His mother didn't have a hero school to go to in her time, and she didn't need one. Kenshin's dream was to follow in her footsteps and become a protector of the people. Hero school or no, Kenshin was determined to continue his mother's work no matter what. He needed to get stronger. Become a powerful hero who could stop crime and protect the people from villainy. But that wasn't the only thing Kenshin wanted. He also needed to learn just what he was missing. What quality was he lacking? UA must have seen something the boy was missing that he could not. What was it? Even if he did know what it was, even if he improved, Kenshin did not know if he wanted to apply to UA again. Was it even worth it? As the boy became lost in thought, he did not notice the young lady walking in front of him. It was only after having bumped into her and sending both of them crashing to the floor that Kenshin finally snapped out of it and realized his blunder. "Oh shit! I'm so sorry, ma'am!" Quickly getting to his feet, Kenshin approached the young woman to help her up. "Are you alright?" | Word count: 515

Miku recently got a new key in an envelope, along with a letter. It was from her dad saying that their old house in Tokyo finished rennovating and since thats Miku's home, she should also have a copy of a key. Miku then used her first chance to get to Tokyo by bus and see her old new home. Before it was just an abandoned building on the outskirts of Tokyo. Broken down, dilapitated, simply terrible, it was a Villanous hideout basically, and she lived there. But in the letter, she saw that the house was fixed up completely, rennovated, new furniture, new everything. And Miku was excited to see it
Now, she was wandering around the outskirts as she hasnt been here for 4 to 5 months. And even when she was living here before, she would not get a good look at her surroundings, because Papa Skull made sure to take her to school by car. Sos he wouldnt notice what were the surroundings like. And thus she realized, she was a bit lost. But before she processed that completely, someone bumped into her and thus both fell down on their bottom. "Owie" Miku quietly said She then heard someone ask if she was alright. Miku saw the boy that crashed into her "I-I am. Sorry about this..." she apologized

I'm such an idiot! Kenshin angrily berated himself for not watching where he was going. He could not believe that he was so lost in thought that he actually bumped into someone. How could he do something so stupid? Kenshin was surprised to hear the girl apologize. Why was she saying sorry? She was not the one who bumped into him. "Hey, it's not your fault. I'm the one who should focus on looking where I walk. Again, I'm so sorry for bumping into you." There had to be something he could do to make up for it. After helping the girl get up, Kenshin decided to introduce himself. After all, he didn't want the girl to think that he lacked manners on top of being a careless idiot. "My name is Kenshin. It's a pleasure to meet you."Kenshin did not know what to do now. Should he leave the girl and let her get back to whatever she was doing? Or perhaps chat with her for a bit? After a bit of thinking, Kenshin decided to talk with this girl for a while if she did not mind it. The troubles in his mind would not go away, so perhaps a nice conversation would help distract the boy from those thoughts. "So um, how's your day been so far? Besides the part where I crashed into you, of course." Kenshin chuckled nervously. This was so awkward, and not just because Kenshin was not used to talking with people. | Word count: 250
Notes: Poor Kenshin, trying not to make things even more awkward lol

The boy with incrediby familiar hair colour helped her up and apologized. Miku rubbed her tush while he apologized as the fall did do a hurty. The boy then introduced himself as Kenshin. "Nice to meet you Kenshin. My name is Miku" she introduced herself as well
Surprisingly then, Kenshin spoke more. She thought the boy wanted to be on his way, but instead he started having a little small talk. Perhaps this was as an apology as well? "It's been a relatively peaceful day. How about you?" she asked
Considering the bo- Kenshin wanted to converse, Miku indulged him and did so. If he needed a friendly chat, she didnt mind. She had time. And perhaps it would be a nice time waster to make her forget the bad things like drama. But then she remembered, did Kenshin have time to talk to her? What if he was busy? "Maybe I shouldnt distract him much. But he seemed lik maybe in deep thought prior to our little crash. Buut then again I didnt really see him too. I was kinda lost in thought too, otherwise I could've prevented this, so its my fault" Miku thought to herself as she waited for Kenshins responce

So the name of the poor young lady Kenshin bumped into was Miku. Kenshin would remember that. She asked him how his day was, after telling him that her day was relatively peaceful. Kenshin hoped that his little plan would work. He really wanted to clear his head already. "It's been fine. Last couple of days have been pretty exciting, to be honest. A few days ago, I fought a couple of thugs that were causing trouble at the park." The events of that day were still fresh in the boy's mind. "I was only there to play on my bass guitar as usual, but there was this guy playing the ukulele. He was awesome! He said he was rusty, but he played like he'd been doing it for years. We played some songs together and even gathered quite the crowd!"Excitement filled Kenshin as he continued to talk about that day. "There were these two idiots who started bullying this girl that was there. All because she was born with a giant spider for a head. So the guy and I proceed to teach those idiots a lesson once they brought out weapons. You should have seen it! The ukulele player was a badass! He summoned this giant ...well it wasn't an insect, but it looked like one. Anyway, it knocked one guy down like he was nothing. And then when the other thug aimed a gun at him, he didn't even flinch!"Kenshin was careful not to mention the man's name or appearance too much. The guy was a vigilante, and Kenshin did not want to blow his cover by talking about him to some stranger. The irony here was that Miku was of course no stranger to the man. Unbeknownst to Kenshin, Miku knew the man far better than Kenshin did, as the man was basically her dad. "I helped with the thugs, but I honestly think that the guy could have easily handled it on his own. He was a pro!" Kenshin's eyes lit up as he smiled. "I hope I get to meet that man again someday. He's a 100% genuine badass, and his ukulele skills are awesome!"Kenshin then realized that he rambled on for a bit. "Heh, sorry. I didn't realize I kept going on and on!" He didn't want to be the only one talking. A conversation was a two way street, after all. He wanted to listen to Miku speak as well. She probably had a bunch of interesting things to talk about. Kenshin would pay attention to anything she had to say. At least Kenshin's goal of getting his mind off of things was beginning to work. | Word count: 447
Notes: It's safe to say that Kenshin has pretty much become a G fanboy lol

Afer her short answer, Kenshin proceeded to give his. His days were exciting and had a funny story about a time at the park where he came to play the bass guitar, but he heard a ukulele player. What a funny thing, Miku knew 2 of ukulele players. She wondered if it was someone she knew.
When Miku heard 'he'. She assumed it was her dad. He was known to say he was rusty. And to Miku, he kinda was. But Kenshin said the guy was a pro, so she thought it was someone she did not know. Kenshin was real excited as he talked more about the day. Two guys bullying a spider girl. But when Kenshin mentioned the uke player summoning a ... bug thing... Miku knew who that was. She noticed Kenshin didnt mention the name or describe the uke player. Just mentioned how badass he was and how Kenshin helped kick ass. But he stopped when he realized he was getting carried away. Miku getting a chance to speak asked curiously "Did the uke player have the same hair colour like you? Messy hair? Uhmm.... white shirt, black pants? Slightly hunched posture?" She tried her best describing G
After Kenshin would hopefully confirm it, Miku would say "He's my dad.... Well... adopted dad. People tend to raise an eyebrow if I say that he's my dad, due to our age"

The next words that came out of Miku's mouth shocked Kenshin. She perfectly described Genzu, or G the vigilante Kenshin had met at the park. Did she know him? "Yeah, that's him! Do you two know each other?" Miku then confirmed it. Holy crap! This girl is G's adopted daughter! Kenshin's excitement began to skyrocket. At this point, the boy could barely restrain himself. "Woah, really? That is so awesome! That badass dude is your dad?! You're so lucky!" A thought then occurred to the boy. "Does this mean you kick criminal ass, too? Did G teach you how to fight? Do you play an instrument as well?" Kenshin had so many questions for Miku, and he was hoping that she would be fine with answering. He then realized that he was getting ahead of himself. He quickly tried to calm down and tone down the excitement. "Sorry. I'm not usually like this. Please forgive me." God, this was just embarrassing! Here he was, getting all excited as though it were Christmas or something. Kenshin half expected to begin squealing like a hyperactive and overexcited school girl at any moment. Seriously, there wasn't a lot to be excited about. He was only talking to the daughter of the coolest and most badass vigilante he had ever met! Kenshin immediately returned back to his usual cool and calm self, pretending that he did not almost just completely embarrass himself. He also tried not to ask Miku too much about G. He was having a conversation with her, so he should really focus the conversation on her rather than her dad. | Word count: 269
Notes: Damn, tone down the fanboyism, Kenshin XD

Miku was surprised with how Kenshin was excited. He almost began fanboying saying how awesome her dad was. That made Miku smile a bit, making her finally feel happy and proud of her dad for once
Though when Kenshin assumed she kicked criminal ass as well, her smile faded a bit "No, he refuses to teach me how to fight, thats why he sent me to UA. And when it comes to instruments. I can play the drums" Miku answered
It felt odd meeting a fan of her dad. Does that mean he's pro Vigilantism "Hey, considering you... erm... like hw my dad works... Does that mean you like Vigilantes too?" she asked curiously and quietly
She didnt seem to have much questions for Kenshin, but then again she wasnt good at these. She just thought, her dad is number 1 Vigilate, of course that was gonna turn peoples heads and make her dad famous. It felt odd that she was the daughter of the Vigilante version of Darkshine. A number 1. "Im kinda a daughter of a celebrity. That feels weird. But explains that weird tribute video I've seen yesterday. I wonder if there are more of those" Miku thought to herself

Ah, it seemed that Miku did not fight like her dad did. Was he the protective type of guy who wanted to keep his daughter safe? The cool and tough badass apparently had a warm and caring heart. That made Kenshin admire G even more. But then she mentioned UA. Miku went to the hero school that had rejected him. It seemed that despite her small and cutesy appearance, the girl was definitely not one to be underestimated. Whether it was because she had G as a father, she was a badass in her own right, or both, Kenshin did not know. Either way, Miku clearly had something that UA saw in her. But what was it? What did she have that he lacked? Kenshin was so focused on his thoughts of UA that he almost missed out on Miku's next words. She played drums? That was pretty freaking awesome! Kenshin had no doubt that she was very good. Maybe he'd be lucky enough to see how good she was. "That's awesome! I wouldn't mind seeing you in action sometime. I bet you're great!"Miku then quietly asked Kenshin if he liked vigilantes. Kenshin thought for a bit before giving his answer. "I could probably answer with a yes or no, but it's not that simple. I don't really see vigilantes as all being part of the same group, able to be easily judged as a whole. Each one has their own agenda and way of doing things. It all depends on the type of person. Why does a vigilante do what he or she does? What's important to them? Do they want to fight villains? Or is saving and protecting people more important to them?Kenshin realized that he was beginning to go off on a tangent, so he decided to get to the point and answer Miku's question. I'm honestly far more impressed with the latter over the former. Still, I believe that anyone, hero or vigilante, who willingly goes out of their way to fight crime and more importantly protect others from villains can't be all too bad." Kenshin then smiled as he spoke quietly. "Of course, my opinion of the matter may be entirely biased, seeing as I'm considered a vigilante myself."Of course, Kenshin did not see himself as a vigilante. Despite being seen by the rest of the world as a vigilante, he always considered himself as a hero, just like his mother before him. "No matter what the government, media, or anyone says, I don't think that people should need to have some license or attend a hero school to be allowed to save lives. All that matters is the desire to protect those who can't defend themselves. Anyone who has that instinct to protect and the desire to rise to action should deserve to be seen as a hero in my opinion."Speaking of hero school, Kenshin was curious about UA. Now that he was talking to someone who had confirmed was attending the hero school, the boy had a chance to learn more about the place. Maybe he would be able to decide if he would one day attempt to get into UA again, or if it was even worth doing so. "So tell me Miku. What's UA like?" | Word count: 548

Miku smiled a bit "Thank you! Maybe we'll play together one day. Ah! What kind of music do you play?"
Later though when she asked him what does he thin of Vigilantes, she listened to him speak. He gave a bit of a mixed answer, saying not all Vigilantes were good? Each has their agenda. Which Miku did not understand. Vigilantes were unlicenced crime fighters, they were good. While he spoke, he revealed that he too was a Vigilante which was totally mindblowing to Miku. That was awesom. She listened to him more and openly agreed with him, you dont need a fancy sheet of paper to be a Hero.
But then he asked what was UA like "Its ok I guess. Bunch of us kids in a class doing lessons and excercises and tests. Writter stuff, practical stuff. Nothing special." she then looked at him "You're not missing much. Im sure you're way more skilled then me. I mean,I feel like UA is just a process to get you to become an approved Hero. You learn real things out here in real life, not in some simulation of a city. Aafter all. All the best students are the ones who had some real life hands on experience. But I guess thats just my pro Vigilante bias going on" she said as she scratched her head

Kenshin smiled at the thought of being able to play together with Miku. Even better if G joined in. With his bass, her drums, and G's ukulele, the music they would make would be mind blowing. Kenshin wished that he had brought his bass guitar with him, so he could play a bit for Miku. Oh well. "I mostly play blues, rock, jazz, and sometimes metal. I can play other things too, but I usually just stick to those four."After listening to Miku's opinion of what UA was like, Kenshin felt a bit underwhelmed with UA. Was that really it? Was that all there was to the hero school? "Wow. The way you put it, UA sounds kinda dull. Or at least not as cool and exciting as I thought it was."As Miku kept talking, Kenshin found himself agreeing more and more with the girl. He didn't need a hero school to learn how to be a hero. Experience was the ultimate teacher. Life made the boy tougher and smarter than any lesson from some hero school. Perhaps he was just stressing out about it for nothing. "I think you're right. A hero school like UA sounds nice, but I don't think it's needed at the end of the day. I've been doing just fine without it. And my mom kicked ass back when she was fighting crime. But of course, the government would just treat her as a vigilante just because she didn't have a hero school to go to."Kenshin smiled. From what he heard Miku say, it was clear that she was pro-vigilante. She even said it herself. "At the end of the day, I don't care what the government or anyone else thinks. To me, people like G and my mom will always be true heroes in my eyes. Really, any vigilante that helps people should be called heroes. Well, not just vigilantes. Anyone, really."Kenshin's mind was not yet completely cleared of all the thoughts that plagued him, but his chat with Miku helped immensely. "Our conversation helped clear some doubts I had in my mind, so thank you Miku." He didn't mind talking with Miku for a bit longer if she was okay with it. But what else could they talk about? Whatever was on the girl's mind, Kenshin would listen. | Word count: 389
Notes: It's good that Kenshin's becoming more comfortable with talking with others

Miku hears metal. Miku approves. Hearing that she smiles and nods "I like metal too and rock. Basically fast paced music" she chuckles "I know it surprises people because 90% of the time I dont look the part. But I was raised by a metalhead to be a metalhead. So slower music is kinda hard for me to play." she explained
When she explained UA, Kenshin seemed underwhelmed or disappointed. Miku then said "No matter what kind of shiny coat of paint you put it... School is school. You sit, you write, you do homework and you train for hero stuff. Its just a process so you can get a hero licence. And it paints a target on you, Villains will target UA to prevent the emergence of new heroes. For example, some nefarious evildoer somehow slipped drugs into our school either with food or water. People ended up drugged. I was resistant due to my Quirk, but not everyone was lucky. But, I shouldnt speak ill of the school. I have to admit, the school granted me the freedom I never had. And it allowed me to befriend people and not be alone anymore. I dont want to deter you from UA if thats what you desire. But if you're really a viggie, then... ah... I dont know. Honestly everything has its pros and cons. Its best if you dont listen to me. You should make your own choices"
She then smiled and tried to lift the mood since she most likely put a big damper "If you do choose to come to UA. Consider getting to Class 1B. We can be classmates then!"
Later the more the conversation steereed on they both agreed that UA wasnt that necessary. If they had the skill to be a hero, no one was stopping them. They didnt need to prove themselves to the goverment.
When Kenshin said that anyone who helps people should be called a Hero and Miku couldnt agree more. She had the same thoughts. Someone could save the day. She nodded and agreed with Kenshin and spoke
"Exactly, anyone who helps or saves people is a Hero. Imagine there's not a Pro Hero around, but a Vigilante or even a civillian saves the day. We did the right thing. But the goverment doesn't reward our actions, it condemns them. Because we are not 'certified' heroes and because we use our quirks of our own accord, we 'break' the rules. To clarify, in this world full of super heroes, a person can be PUNISHED for acting heroically. The majority of Pro Heroes have lost sight on what being a hero actually represents and care about money, fame and ranks. Being a Hero wasn't just a fancy career I could pencil in the future plans sections of a school yearbook. I want to help people for real, inspire others and foster hope. I don't want to be a working hero. I want to be a true hero. And to me, that's what Vigilantes are. They are good samaritans who save people and help them. And a good deed is their reward not money and fame and rank" she then puts a hand on his shoulder "That's what you are, a True Hero. I'm honoured I met a Vigilante other then my dad. Because it lets me say 'Keep up the good work'"

Kenshin was surprised to see that Miku liked metal. She certainly didn't look like one who would listen to music like that. Never judge a book by its cover, indeed. Then again, it was not too surprising, considering that she was raised by a badass vigilante. Miku did have a point. At the end of the day, school was school. Even if UA was a hero school, there would still be the same essential things that made every school boring and lame. Although perhaps UA was not as lame as Kenshin was led to believe. Students were drugged? Holy shit! Kenshin wondered what that was like, but he decided not to ask Miku about it. She then told Kenshin that at the end of the day, the choice of whether or not to join the hero school was up to him, and that he should not take her words too much to heart. Kenshin was still undecided in that front. Kenshin then smiled when Miku suggested that if he does join, he should enroll in 1-B so the two could be in the same class. "Does the B in your class stand for Badass or Best? Because if so, then it makes sense for you to be in that class. And sure, if I decide to apply again and not fail this time, then I'll gladly join the ranks of 1-B. It would be nice to have a friend to talk to."The two of them clearly shared the same view of vigilantism. This made Kenshin smile. However, Kenshin began to get a bit nervous when Miku placed her hand on his shoulder. The boy was not exactly antisocial or anything like that. He's just been so used to being alone that anyone outside his family touching him just felt awkward and strange to him. Kenshin sighed. He really did need to hang out with people more often. "Thank you, Miku. Hearing that makes me happy beyond words." Kenshin then placed his hand on Miku's shoulder. "I know that you're a great hero, too. Probably better than me, in fact. If you're not already, you will be one day."Kenshin was curious about something, and he hoped Miku could satisfy that curiosity. "If you don't mind me asking, may I see your quirk in action? Or could you tell me what you can do if you don't really want to show me?" He wondered just what kind of power the girl has. If he was lucky enough, maybe he would even get to fight. Still, knowing what her quirk is was enough. Anything else was just a bonus. | Word count: 438

Miku giggled and agreed "You bet. Class 1-Best. The class that actually has a student that took down a real Villian. The model class with 0 delinquents and no drama. Class 1-Best!" She was like Lani when it came to her class. She did consider her class the very best. Kenshin said a curious thing... apply again? Miku decided not to question it
When he said that shes a hero, she had to doubt that "Me? Naaah, I dont have the skill and experience" she denied it. She still didnt get Darren to teach her to fite. But in a way, at least she worked on her Quirk, she feels like she mastered it. She's able to grow and manipulate trees, better plant control. Expanded range. She did push herself and work tiredlessly. But her physical abilities? They were lacking. Critically.
Kenshin then out of curiosity asked her Quirk "My Quirk? I can manipulate plants. So in a way, I am a Plantmancer!" she said, but did not dare to show him, instead she turned the question around "What is your Quirk?"
She was curious to know what does Kenshin possess as a super cool Vigilante. "Its probably a cool battle ready Quirk" she thought to herself

It was clear that Miku loved her class. Kenshin did not know whether 1-B was actually the best class in UA or not, but seeing as he knew basically nothing about the school, he just took her word for it. Kenshin was impressed when he heard the part about a student taking down a villain. And a class with 0 delinquents and drama sounded pretty nice. At this point, Kenshin was pretty much convinced of which class to join if he ever did decide to join UA. Miku denied being a great hero. Kenshin smiled. She was most likely just being modest. The boy could tell that Miku was a great person and an even better hero. Hell, she got into UA while he could not. "I doubt that. I think you're probably a wonderful hero, but you're too modest to admit it. If you think I'm wrong, then we can just agree to disagree in that regard."Kenshin was fascinated with Miku's quirk. "Plant manipulation sounds pretty nice. I can't even begin to imagine all the things you could do." Wrapping villains in vines, having flowers ready to give to friends and loved ones, many medicines, poisons, and drugs at her disposal. There were so many possibilities and uses. It was one of those quirks that did not sound like much on paper, but could be very versatile and powerful if used right. Miku then asked Kenshin about his quirk. Rather than just telling her, Kenshin really wanted to show her. After all, the boy believed that words did not do his quirk justice. Sadly, showing her was a bad idea. Who knew if a villain would show up during his armor's cooldown period. That would suck big time. Sighing, Kenshin had no choice but to tell rather than show. "My quirk grants me this cool red armor. It's durable, and it even lets me dash pretty fast. The coolest part though, is that I can turn one of my hands into a sword of hard light when I'm transformed. It's why my alias is Red Edge." Kenshin then quickly brought up some drawbacks. After all, he did not like bragging too much, and he did not want Miku thinking that his quirk was awesome and flawless. "It's pretty nice, but it's not perfect. After I revert the transformation, I can't use my quirk again for a while. It's really the only reason why I'm telling you about it and not just showing you. Besides that, my sword isn't that sharp, and if it gets damaged, then so do my fingers. I found that part out the hard way." Kenshin laughed a bit, but the story behind it was no laughing matter. "Two years ago, I got into this fight with a prick. He was bullying my younger brother, and there was no way I was gonna put up with that. So I transformed and proceeded to fight that bully. Unfortunately, my sword hand missed the guy's face, and it banged pretty hard against a metal pole. I remember feeling pain as I saw my sword crack a little bit. Once I transformed back later, I was horrified when I saw my pinky finger broke. I don't know what was worse, the pain, that bully's stupid smug face, or the scolding I got from my mom for getting into another fight again. Fortunately for me, my mom is best friends with a nurse!"As Kenshin laughed again, he wondered if Miku had any stories she wanted to share. He would not press her to if she didn't feel like sharing, however. | Word count: 602
