Dreams breathe life into men.
The stars... I'll reach them.
The stars... I'll reach them.
Darren was quick to action once Ryuusei finished talking. He liked that trait of Darren a lot: no bullshit, straight to the point. He took Ryuu's words immediately in, told him and Masaki to think about where another body might be and to meet at the bathroom where they knew another mannequin possibily was. As his blonde friend went off, Ryuusei yelled to him:
Have fun!
It was interesting. Without Ryuusei expecting it, Darren was becoming his favorite person along side RIn and Yoru. A person with whom Ryuu could be more like his true self.
He changed his attention to the partner that remained by his side. Looking at Masaki body posture had the 1-A Class Vice-President finding peace in knowing that his intuition had been correct. The boy from 1-B seemed to be intelligent or, at least, calm enough to think things through instead of going out on pure instinct. When the boy began expressing his thoughts in the form of words and sound, Ryuusei let him talk without interruptions. It was funny hearing someone think out loud while almost blocking everyone else around.
He probably didn't even notice Darren going away, Ryuu thought to himself, finiding it kinda funny.
It was then that, as if having a revelation, Masaki eyes changed and, after a pause, he said one single word to both Ryuusei and Darren.
"Maintenance."
Ryuusei was quick to reply back.
Makes sense. I'm pretty sure that I went by a shaft that came from what seemed to be the drainage room, but it was locked and too dark to actually see something, I could only hear the water moving. It probably can only be open from the inside, which means there has to be another way in - Ryuusei concluded before finishing - Good thinking, maybe there was a worker taking care of maintenance there and got stuck. Let's head for that drainage room then, Masaki.
Ryuusei Igarashi began running at a steady pace, expecting the other Yuuei student to do the same. As he advanced, Ryuusei kept looking around for any indication and signals for the maintenance area. Luckily, he found it not long after.
Here! he yelled at Masaki, signalating him to change direction.
He entered the door after moving some small rubble with the help of Masaki. Inside, it was easy to find the entry to the drainage system room. In there, after a few steps, they would realize that Masaki's proceess of thought had been correct. Ryuusei went out of his way to try and be the best teammate he could, even if his voice and overall demeanor made him look, at first glance, like more of a bad guy with a bad attitude and disdain for others.
Good job, he said to Masaki while pointing at the mannequin dangling in the air, attached to a rope.
It was an interesting room, especially taking into account that it had been made on purpose for this entire exercise. It was a large cylindrical room with moving walls that served the purpose of keeping the excess of water constantly flowing. Looking up, Ryuusei noticed that the rope from which the doll dangled came from the acces shaft he had previosuly saw and mentioned to Masaki.
Going into the water was a big no to Ryuu, not only because of the force of the water but, well, because it was water. But they had to rescue the mannequin, which meant that either Ryuusei or Masaki had to have the ability to jump far enough and with enough strenght from where they stood to the rope while, at the same time, avoiding the moving walls in order to not fall into the water and get stuck to the sides of the cylindrical room.
Looking ahead, then at Masaki, then at the ground, the kid from the Igarashi familiy was quick to think of a possible solution. He crouched, grabbing a small piece of loose metal - roughly the size of an A2 piece of paper - before standing up. He then looked at his partner for this drainage system mission.
I'm placing this under my right foot, he said, doing exactly what he had just said before continuing.
Remember when I said that I have metal in my left ankle? I'm giving you control over my body - it was a bold statement, but Ryuusei continued to explain - You said you can push and pull metal right? If you magnetize and push both the metal from my left ankle and this little piece that is under my right foot you should be able to make me levitate towards the rope while keeping me relatively stable and avoiding the moving walls.
Ryuusei was confident - an ice-cold type of confident. It was noticeable by the way he talked and could've seemed weird to Masaki, especially since this plan didn't really depend on Ryuu. But Masaki was surely smart enough to understand that... The plan that Ryuusei purposed with the little information he had of the shaggy brown haired boy required Ryuu to trust on Masaki's ability at 100%. If things went wrong Ryuusei could get hit by a wall or fall into the water, not being able to get out.
Ryuusei himself didn't know why he was trusting the other kid so much, but he was. He believed this to be the best plan with Darren not being there, so he had to trust him... And had no prblem wth that, even if he had just met him. After a brief pause to let Masaki think about what Ryuu just suggested, he continued:
If your Quirk involves pushing and pulling away objects then you must also have some restrictions, it was comon knowledge, especially among Yuuei students, that any Quirk had their specific advantages and disadvantages. Emitter Quirks like the ones both Ryuusei and Masaki had usually fell into four main things: quantity, time, weight and distance. With this in mind, Ryuusei gave some information to Masaki, assuming he could maybe need at least some of it. If he didn't, it was still better saying it than remain in silence about it.
My weight should be around 70kg, so that's what you're lifting among with the metal on my ankle, which should not surpass the 2kg mark on it's own - Ryuusei continued, standing besides Masaki - And by the feel of it the metal that I placed underneath my right foot should be around 7kg, more or less. You should be able to figure out the distance from here to the victim better than I can. Can you work with this?
It was said with such a casual tone - like it was no big deal. But Ryuusei could imagine the amount of effort it would take from Takeuchi. Pushing two things at once, having to take into account Ryuusei's weight with one of them; guessing the distance from where they stood to the mannequin in order to make sure he was able to maintain his Quirk until Ryuu grabbed the rope; being quick enough in order to not feel possible physical consequences that Ryuusei wasn't aware of... Ryuusei was more or less aware of this, in general. If Masaki was a good reader of people he could probably notice this in Ryuusei's expression.
If Masaki agreed to the plan, Ryuusei would be ready for him to start things, simply saying:
I'll meet you up there, aknowledging they would have to exit by different ways: Ryuu through the shaft by climbing the rope with the mannequin and Masaki by where they had both entered after deactivating his Quirk.
If Masaki told Ryuusei that he wasn't able to do what Ryuusei thought of, the boy would be ready to follow anything that Masaki could think of. Afterall, Ryuusei had already decided to trust the 1-B kid: that meant not only his brain, but also his decision making capability.
Mannequin trapped under the rubble - SAVED BY MASAKI
Mannequin stuck on the trails - SAVED BY DARREN
Mannequin stuck inside the bathrrom - ZONE CHECKED BY MASAKI (WARNED DARREN & RYUUSEI)
Mannequin on the ceiling of the control room - SAVED BY DARREN & MASAKI
Mannequin on the broken pillar - SAVED BY MASAKI & DARREN
Mannequin stuck in the access shaft - SAVED BY RYUUSEI
Mannequin suspended on the drainage system - SEEN BY RYUUSEI AND MASAKI
Mannequin inside the security office - SAVED BY DARREN
Mannequin inside the camera room - SAVED BY RYUUSEI
Notes: Possible cool development between Ryuu and Masaki! A new friendship?! Also for Deuce: if you go along with the plan just feel free to describe Masaki moving Ryuu around and etc until he catches the rope; if not just come up with some other plan and feel free to execute it in the same post, since Ryuusei will go along with it!
