After the fiasco at the bookstore, Alaster wanted to just lie down on his bed and rest. Unfortunately, he couldn't rest for long. He needed to find a job to complete soon. After all, the bills didn't pay themselves, and as well as his books have recently been selling, it still wasn't nearly enough. Sighing, Alaster got up from his bed. After feeding his pet raven Edgar some food he bought at the store earlier, he opened his laptop and began to search for job offers from the gang.
After a while, he found a suitable job. The client was willing to pay huge if somebody took out a target. Alaster responded and asked for more details. A few minutes later, he received an email listing the specifics. The target was a former enforcer of a local gang. In fact, this gang was the same one Alaster usually did favors for. His name was Shigure Kagenuma. Alaster remembered working with him in a job once. He was a harsh and despicable kind of person, but he was very competent and resourceful. With how dangerous and lethal this guy could be, it was no wonder that the reward was massive. Alaster accepted the job immediately. Not only did he like a challenge, but the money he would get would be more than enough to cover the bills for at least the next four months. Plus, he could use some to take Meiko out to a fancy restaurant and buy her some nice things.
It was a dark night, with the moon being obscured by thick dark clouds. In his usual villain attire and armed with a knife sent to him by his employer, Alaster headed down the alley where a hidden bar was. This was the usual hangout spot that Kagenuma supposedly frequented. Alaster looked around the scenery. The alley was empty and devoid of people, but Alaster caught the glimpse of a few crows flying overhead. A dozen of them were perched on the nearby roofs. Alaster smiled at the sight of them. They could prove to be very useful.
Suddenly, Alaster caught a glimpse of someone approaching. He quickly hid behind a wall before the person spotted him. It was too dark for him to tell who it was. Was it Kagenuma? Was it somebody from the gang? Or was it someone else entirely? Either way, Alaster drew out his knife, ready to strike if this person was a hostile.

She had heard about this man before, Shigure Kagenuma was this horrid man's name. She thought he could be trusted, she believed in him when he spoke to her father, trusting him to 'leave everything in his hands' as he had said back then. Her father should have never trusted him, he wouldn't be in jail if he had only stayed away from this man. She knew she could never trust a non-mutant, and this was a prime example of why. You know how the saying goes, snitches get stitches, right?
Nari thought it might be fun to pay this man a visit, see how time had kept up with the old man. That conniving rat deserved to get punished, but not just any kind of punishment would do. This certain punishment had to be fun, like playing a game of cat and mouse and he was the poor defenseless mouse. Nari always kept a small dagger strapped to her outer thigh when going out late like this, just in case her quirk were rendered useless. She could still remember when her father first showed her how to use said knife, reminiscing was quite enjoyable but was definitely not something she should focus on now.
The dark clouds covering the bright sky above seemed like the perfect calling card for the snake woman, enticing her to come out to play. Nari stealthily made her way in the shadows, missing any civilians that might be walking by and wondering what was going on. If she had met anyone, she played it off as if she was just a civilian like them just walking around during the night. Nari looked around a bit before deciding to proceed further. She had an idea of where her old friend was hiding but she still wasn't 100% confident of her idea. As the brunette walked, she noticed a figure retreating into an alley way, as if to stay out of sight. She blinked and looked toward the alleyway before making her approach. The brunette took her small notepad out and wrote a small message on it, hoping to communicate with the figure that way. She walked as usual, getting ready just in case before waiting at the corner, not going into the alleyway just yet. She held out her notepad towards the alleyway, hoping the figure who might be there could read it. 'Are you playing hide and seek? If so, that's not a very good hiding place ' the message said.

Alaster waited silently. Did he hide in time, or did the person catch a glimpse of him? Alaster gripped the knife's handle tightly. Hopefully they'll just pass by and not get in his way. He looked up on top of the roof of the nearby wall. There were two crows perched there, and they were within range. If he was forced to fight, at least he had options.
Carefully, Alaster took a quick peek around the corner of the wall he was hiding behind. He was surprised to see a notepad of all things. He quickly glanced at the message before quickly hiding back behind the wall. Seriously, hide and seek? So not only was he spotted, but he was being mocked as well? Well it was pointless to stay hidden now that the mysterious person knew he was there. With knife in hand, he stepped out to greet this stranger.
He was surprised to see that the notepad was being held by a young woman. She didn't look like a gang member or a random thug. Then again, Alaster did not trust her. Looks can be very deceiving, and if she were just a civilian, she would have just ran away. Hell, she saw him step out of the corner while holding a knife, and she still didn't move. Whoever she was, the last thing Alaster would do would be to underestimate her.
"Well, you found me, although you're going to wish you hadn't if you make the wrong move." Alaster glared at the notepad, then to the woman. "What business do you even have in a place like this? And what's with that note?" Alaster took a quick glance at the bar entrance, then back at the woman. Kagenuma might appear soon. He hoped that she would leave soon so that he can get back to the job at hand. However, he doubted that it would be that easy.

Nari was quite surprised to see the shadowy figure that rounded the corner was an interesting looking man, seeming to be close in age to her. The brunette smiled and listened to the man talk, he must be a big shot to openly hold a knife like that. Concealing a knife in a secret spot was more fun and it posed an element of mystery. It wasn't nice to hold a knife to someone who was only trying to say hello. Nari blinked and began writing down a response to his words, her, be sorry if she made the wrong move? This wasn't her first time at the rodeo now. 'Me, make a wrong move? I only wanted to say hello. Is there anything wrong with that now?' the note read.
She listened again as the white haired fellow question her reasoning for being here as well as the notes she was writing. The brunette wrote another note before showing the other, blinking as she looked over at him. 'I was merely taking a stroll downtown. Walks at night are rather calming than one would think. Also I use these notes because I cannot speak, I am mute you see. This is my only way of communicating. I apologize if this is an inconvenience but it is how I live.' Nari's second note read. She wasn't going to say she was here to see if Shigure Kagenuma would be here around this hour, she didn't know what the other's intentions were and why he was carrying a knife on him. Perhaps he was a fellow villain or a rather mind obsessed civilian.

Alaster was confused. Not only did she not flinch at the sight of his knife, but she smiled at him and was continuing to write on her notepad. Didn't she know that he could easily take advantage of the situation and stab her while she wrote? Unless she wasn't actually defenseless. Perhaps she had a quirk of some kind? In any case, Alaster decided to let her finish writing. She hasn't tried to attack him yet, so he supposed that he could let her finish writing whatever it was she was scribbling on that notepad.
So she only wanted to greet him. Right, like anyone just felt like saying hi to a complete stranger without some ulterior motive. But then Alaster read the part that explained that she was mute. He suddenly felt a little bad. He hadn't communicated with a mute person before, so he had no idea what it must be like for her to not be able to talk.
"Ah, forgive me for my dreadful lack of manners. I apologize for being insensitive, and for drawing this out." Alaster lowered his arm, but kept his grip on the knife. "You see, this is a very dangerous place, and there are many shady and dangerous people around these parts. It's unwise to walk around places like this without a weapon to defend oneself with, especially at night. Speaking of unwise..." Alaster then pointed at the woman's notepad. "You're very lucky that you ran into me and not a thug. Not everyone would allow you to just stand there and write on your notepad. You really ought to be more careful."
Alaster once again glanced at the bar entrance. Seeing that no one was there, he quickly turned to look at the woman. "I highly recommend that you take your night walks to a much safer neighborhood. Unless of course you have some sort of business here?" The more Alaster looked at her, the more he suspected that she wasn't a civilian. She was definitely suspicious.

The brunette looked at him with a smile, a bit surprised in the change of attitude from the white haired man. Sure he could be genuinely sorry for what he had said prior but then again this could all be some kind of trick. Nari wouldn't let her guard down, she'd dealt with people of this nature before and wouldn't get fooled but some sob story by a stranger. Another thing that surprised the snake woman was the fact that the other had lowered his weapon to his side, not pointing it directly at her. She watched him keep a close grip on the weapon, as if she would try and steal it from her hands when she had her own weapon. Nari kept a knife of her own strapped to her outer thigh whenever she walked outside like this just in case she couldn't use her quirk. Her choice in clothing let her conceal her weapon with ease, she never did like tight clothing and much preferred loose dresses and stuff of that nature.
The serpentine woman listened to the other talk about how she shouldn't be walking in a shady place like this, how she should have protection on her, how it was good that she had run into him and not some strange thug of sorts. She's heard this before and the brunette was more than capable of handling herself, she's done it before and she can do it again. Nari heard the other ask if she had business downtown, if not then she should change her choice in walking destinations. The brunette wrote another note on her notepad before showing the other, 'Actually, I did have business here. I was supposed to meet a friend down here at around this other but I have not seen them yet. They said they would be around here but perhaps I cam a bit early.'

Upon reading the woman's next note, Alaster suspicions grew more and more. Who would want to meet in a place like this for anything legal? Maybe he was jumping to conclusions, but Alaster just couldn't shake this feeling. Something was up with her. Still, there wasn't anything else Alaster could do while he waited for Kagenuma to show up. He supposed it couldn't hurt to keep this conversation going in the meantime.
"Ah, so you're waiting for someone as well? I'm also here to meet someone, but I wouldn't exactly call him a friend. Quite the opposite, really. I just have a little business to settle with him. Whilst we wait for the people we're meeting to show up, I wouldn't mind talking with you for a bit longer, if you wouldn't mind of course, Miss..."
Oh right. Introductions haven't been made yet. Alaster figured that it wouldn't hurt to introduce himself. "Ah, please forgive me. Once again, I seem to have forgotten my manners. You may call me Crowley." He didn't mind giving the woman his villain alias, but of course there was no way he'd give anyone his real name, let alone a suspicious stranger. "If you don't mind, what's your name? Or if that's too much to ask, what alias would you prefer me to refer to you as?"
Alaster doubted that she would give him her real name, but he was curious to see what alias she would come up with. Sometimes, lies were far more interesting than the truth.

Not a friend hmm? Perhaps this was a hit and run type of mission? Perhaps he was meeting an ex-lover of sorts, or perhaps an old rival. Whatever it was, Nari was curious to find out who this person was to the white haired man. Nari smiled when he said he wouldn't mind chatting with her for a while, perhaps she could get some info out of this man after all. Nari took her pen and began writing another message before showing her notepad to the man, 'I wouldn't mind at all. It might be quite fun to get to know someone new.' She heard him speak but realized she hadn't introduced herself to him, he hadn't introduced himself yet either and it was always better for the man to introduce himself first.
Crowley hmm? It did not sound like a typical name, perhaps it was a foreign name or perhaps it was a nickname for the white haired man. Perhaps he wanted to keep his true identity hidden from her as she might be suspicious to him as he was to her. Nari wrote Crowley another message before showing him her notepad. 'You may call me Brooke. It is nice to meet you Crowley as that is the alias you wish to be known as,' the message said. Nari was curious to see what the other had wanted to chat about, she also had to keep a close eye on if Kagenuma was around or not. She would not let him get away because of some idle chatter.

Brooke, huh? Alaster doubted that that was the woman's real name. He was curious, however, as to why she chose to use that particular name. Did she just spontaneously think of that name? Or perhaps it meant something to her? In any case, Alaster had some time to kill, so why not keep the conversation rolling for now?
"Well isn't that a lovely alias you picked for yourself. A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Miss Brooke." As Alaster bowed, a thought appeared in his head. If this Brooke lady was actually a villain, was she one of the people Big Sister brought to Villain Chat? Alaster began to ask Brooke. "I have a question. Are you by any chance a part of an online chat? Specifically one for..." Before Alaster could finish, he was interrupted by something.
The door to the bar had opened. Stumbling outside was a drunk man. However, it was not just any stranger. Alaster knew him quite well. "Well it's about bloody time." It was his target. Shigure Kagenuma in the flesh. Alaster quickly raised his knife. He turned to look at Brooke. "Sorry, but we'll have to continue this chat of ours another time." Alaster then began approaching Kagenuma, knife in hand and ready to take his life.
Kagenuma looked in Alaster's direction and was startled. "Crowley, you son of a bitch!" He pulled out his gun. Bollocks! Alaster ran towards the wall to take cover. Kagenuma aimed his gun at him and fired, but the bullet missed by a wide margin. It seemed that he was too impaired by all the drinks he had at the bar to aim properly. "Damn it!" After firing another missed shot, Kagenuma decided to run for it. Alaster began to pursuit him. There was no way he was going to let his target get away. Kagenuma was a dead man!

Nari cocked her head, hearing the mention of an online chat room come up in their conversation. She was indeed part of a chat room, a villain's chat to be more specific, but did that mean this Crowley character was part of this chat as well? An interesting turn of events was soon happening. She was about to write a note to respond to but soon heard the door the the bar they were by swing open, reveling the man she knew was her target at the moment. She couldn't believe he was actually here! The brunette thought she would have to search all over town to find this rat but here he shows up, perfect timing if that.
The brunette stopped when she heard Crowley speak as well...was he going after this man as well? What was his connection to Shigure Kagenuma and why was he after him? Whatever the matter, she had to get to him first, this was her fight. She watched the small duel, knife against gun, knowing that was poor decision on Crowley's part. You never bring a knife to a gun fight, you were always sure to loose. Perhaps not in the case if the one holding the gun was intoxicated. Nari made sure to dodge the missed shots the drunken man fired, quite sloppy in his aim due to the alcohol in his system.
The snake woman watched as her target began to run, considering this was the best course of action for him in the moment. Nari couldn't let him get away nor could she let this Crowley character get to him first, this was her fight and her fight alone, no one was to intervene. He wasn't going to fast, Nari could easily catch up with him with her easily out beating that of the impaired man. Nari quickly ran to catch up to them, rushing past Crowley to tackle Kagenuma to the ground, straddling his back as he looked like a trapped bug beneath her. She stared down at his semi-bald with gleaming eyes and the widest smirk one might see, ready to go in for the kill. This seemed too easy~

Kagenuma kept running as far as he could go. Damn it, he thought to himself. Of all the times I had to choose to get drunk, of course it had to be the day that Crowley of all people is on my tail. And for what? Because I betrayed that stupid gang? He looked behind him for a brief second, spotting a woman chasing after him as well. Great, another one. Just what I fucking needed! He then smiled to himself. Well if those two think that I'll be easy prey, they have a nasty surprise waiting for them. Crowley and that bitch aren't the ones trapping me. I'm the one who's gonna trap them! He then tripped, cursing as he quickly got up and continued running down the alley. Shit, gotta sober up soon!
Meanwhile, Alaster became annoyed as he saw Brooke join in on the chase. So Kagenuma was the "friend" she wanted to meet? Why? Was she trying to collect the bounty on his head like he was? Or did she have some other business with him? In any case, Alaster was not going to let her be the one to kill Kagenuma. That honor would go to him and him alone. He would do everything in his power to make sure of it!
"Hey! What the hell do you think you're doing?" Alaster was running as quickly as he could. Unfortunately, physical activity was never really his strong suit. She was running ahead of him. If this keeps up, she'll get to Kagenuma first, and then Alaster won't get to collect the money. "He's my target! Stay out of this!" He doubted that Brooke would listen to him. Besides, it's rather difficult to write a note while running after a person.
As Alaster ran towards Kagenuma, he saw Brooke tackle him and pin him to the ground. After making a mental note to start visiting the gym more often, he pointed his knife at Brooke. "Thank you for your assistance, but I can take it from here." However, he could tell that she wasn't going to give up Kagenuma that easily. Alaster quickly glanced around the rooftops, noting the number of crows perched on them at the moment. He wanted to save his quirk for Kagenuma, but if Brooke insisted on getting in his way, then he would not hesitate to take her out as well. "This is my only warning to you, Brooke. Back off now, unless you don't wish to remain in one piece."

Nari’s pupils turned to slits, staring down at her target. She was ready for the kill, her tongue slowly leaving her mouth and opening to it’s lamprey mouth. She was stopped however as she heard the white-haired man’s voice again. Luckily, Nari saw Kagenuma’s grip on the gun was loosened given his position. The snake woman used this opportunity to grab hold of the weapon in case the other was trying to play any funny business. She slipped her tongue back into her mouth and changed her pupils back before turning to look back at the man. She was greeted with the same knife from before, it’s sharp point close to her face, closer than it was before. It didn’t look that sharp, quite dull in fact. She made sure her knives were sharp enough to cut the toughest of objects.
Well, Nari supposed she was done playing the silent game, this guy wasn’t going to give up without a fight. “You’re quite funny Mr. Crowley,” Nari spoke, “but I highly doubt you’d be any match for me. It takes a lot to get me to talk, you should feel special~ What business do you have with this filthy rat anyway? He’s nothing but a worthless coward that would do anything to get ahead…even if that meant betraying those he was closest to.” Nari’s eyes lowered, flipping herself to she was facing the white-haired man but still pinning the man on the ground, pressing his putrid face into the concrete below him. Nari pointed the gun at Crowley and smiled, “It would be much easier if you kindly backed away and let me handle this.” Why waster her quirk on someone who wasn’t worthy of it when she had a perfectly good weapon in her hand. Hopefully, this oaf wasn’t stupid enough to only have two bullets loaded in his small handgun. She was positive she had the upper hand in the situation, Crowley's quirk couldn't be that much considering what type of person he seemed to be.

When Alaster got close, he noticed something slip back inside Brooke's mouth. He didn't get enough of a glimpse to know exactly what it was, but he knew for certain that that was no ordinary tongue. Was that her quirk? She then began speaking. So the mute thing was just an act, presumably to hide her tongue, or whatever that was. She then took Kagenuma's gun and had it pointed right at Alaster. He wasn't too worried. He did have some body armor underneath his clothing to reduce the damage of a bullet. Still, a shot to the head was the last thing he needed right now. Things were certainly getting more and more interesting by the minute.
As Alaster slowly backed away from Brooke, he decided to talk with her while devising a plan to deal with the current situation. "My my, you are just full of surprises, Miss Brooke! You actually had me going for a bit with that mute act of yours. You pretended to be mute in order to hide whatever thing is hiding inside your mouth, I presume? Quite clever! I almost made the fatal mistake of underestimating you!" Alaster then looked at Kagenuma. "I'd be careful with him if I were you. Even while drunk and without a weapon, he's far more dangerous and clever than he lets on."
"If you must know why I want him dead, I was hired to take his life. He has a bounty on his head that I fully intend to collect. I have bills to pay after all, and I also wanted to take my girlfriend out to a nice fancy restaurant. But besides that..." Alaster glared at Kagenuma. "I truly despise traitors, and it would be a great pleasure to punish and torture him for his betrayal right before killing him."
For now, all he could do was keep the conversation going while slowly backing up to a nearby wall. Once he had some cover, he could activate his quirk without worry of getting shot, then observe and see what exactly Brooke would do. "Well now you know why I want him dead, but what about you? What's your excuse for wanting to be the one to kill him?"

Nari chuckled, listening to Crowley speak about her little game and how he was almost fooled by it. “It is quite a fun game to play~ Although, I wouldn’t say I play the game in order to hide my game, I do it because it’s quite fun to trick others into thinking you’re something you’re not. What’s wrong with a little fun now~?” The brunette asked, blinking once before looking back up at the white-haired man. “And who said you should stop underestimating me, Mr. Crowley?”
Nari held the gun in her hands, looking over the intricate detail of the barrel and handle. She wasn’t proficient with guns, but she at least understood the basics. She preferred her knives but ultimately used her quirk as her weapon of choice. It was fun to mix it up to keep the cops off her trail. No one likes killing the same way now, it’s too easy. Nari spoke up once Crowley mention the criminal currently beneath her, “Oh I know lots about Mr. Kagenuma now, do you think I didn’t do my research on this traitor?” she asked looked back down at the despicable man beneath her. She wanted so badly to spit in his face and gouge his eyes out, but she felt the white-haired man would get in her way, seeming so adamant about getting to him first.
“A bounty you say? I’m not in it for the bounty. I just want this bastard dead. I want to make him squeal and scream while watching him slowly die under my hand. It’s more fun to tease your prey than to just kill them swiftly,” Nari explained with a soft chuckle. “If anything, you could keep the money just as long as I can kill this filthy pig,” Nari suggested to the other, it seemed like a pretty good deal in her opinion.
“Why do I want him dead?” the snake woman asked, repeating Crowley’s question. “For one, he betrayed his lifetime partner who just so happened to be my father. He used him as his own tool just to avoid getting his hands dirty. He isn’t even worthy of being called a ‘man’, more like the filthy mongrel he has always been,” Nari said, turning back and deciding to spit on Kagenuma’s face, knowing Crowley wouldn’t make any moves with a gun currently pointed in his face.

While Brooke kept talking, Alaster slowly inched closer and closer towards the corner of wall behind him. However, it was important that she didn't notice what he was doing too soon. If she caught wind of his plan and decided to fire the gun right there, then he'd be screwed, if not dead. He needed to have at least a moment of cover to be able to use his quirk without risk. Alaster continued to respond to Brooke just so that she wouldn't question why he had gotten so silent all of a sudden. It was vital to keep this conversation going for as long as possible.
"Yes, deception is always a fun little game to play, isn't it? Sometimes, lies can be far more entertaining than the truth. And why would I continue to underestimate you when doing so would prove fatal? You're clearly dangerous, and I don't fancy dying just yet." As Brooke looked at the gun she was holding, Alaster quickly glanced behind him. He was almost there. Just a little bit more. "Well of course you didn't go in blind regarding Kagenuma. Anyone with a brain would know to do their research first. So I believe it's safe to assume that you know all about what his quirk can do, including its strengths and weaknesses."
Alaster was relieved to hear that Brooke had no interest in the bounty. She just wanted to torture Kagenuma before finally putting him out of his misery. "I agree. Why just kill when you can torture as well? I just love hearing the sound of worthless fools screaming as I carve into them with a knife. That's why some of my knives are slightly dull. I enjoy taking my time slicing them open. It's no fun if they bleed out too quickly." She then brought up an interesting suggestion. Technically, it didn't matter who killed Kagenuma. As long as Alaster showed his client proof that Kagenuma was dead, then he would get paid, and it wouldn't matter if he had to let her have the finishing blow. "Interesting. I suppose I don't mind you being the one to kill him."
She then explained that one of the numerous people that Kagenuma had backstabbed was her own father. Ah, now her desire to kill him made a lot more sense. "Why don't I sweeten the deal? Since he screwed us both, why don't we both torture him? Make him suffer even more, and punish him for what he's done together? Then once you're satisfied, you can deliver the killing blow while I collect the bounty. Hell, I will even give you half of the money if you really want it. It's only fair, after all." Alaster was inches away from the wall now. He could take cover and avoid a lethal shot, though not without injury if Brooke was fast enough. "What do you say? This way, we don't have to waste our time fighting each other in a pointless battle, this worthless trash gets what he deserves, and we both walk away happy. So, do we have a deal?"
Meanwhile, Kagenuma was annoyed with the spit running down his face. He didn't exactly remember what this woman's father looked like, seeing as he had betrayed and left more people to die than he cared to remember. Still, he was determined to make this bitch pay for insulting him. She'll go to hell where she can rejoin daddy dearest. Crowley would die here as well. The reinforcements should arrive any minute now. Kagenuma let out a chuckle. He then saw Alaster glaring at him and ask, "And just what's so funny?"
