| | Veronica let out a long breath. Moments passed.
“Good,” she said at last. “Never speak with him again.”
She stood. “I’m leaving now, Miku. You’ll see me again when I want you to. Until then – good luck with the hero program.”
She knew she could not stay any longer with the looks she was getting ever since her outburst. It did not matter much to her, though. She had gotten enough, for the time being: confirmation that her daughter was alive, confirmation that she was attending Yuuei, and the reveal of who she had been living with in the five years between the break-in and now.
She strode off without a backwards glance. There was something else she had gotten out of this: the bastard who had almost killed her five years ago was still out there in Tokyo somewhere. She would find him, she vowed to herself. And she would make him regret the day he was born.
Her own flesh and blood living with such a person, looking up to them was just downright insulting to her. She did not care about Miku that much, but being insulted in such a way? Yes, that she definitely did care about. He was not going to get away with this.
