In a world of super-powered people being the minority, stuff is always bound to go completely wrong, thanks to Japan's usual conservative racism from certain people. It wasn't that uncommon for quirked people to report verbal and physical harassment, reporting robbery, abuse, among others. Not only that, some of the quirked had adapted to this hostility by becoming hostile themselves. Quirk-Only gangs, some of whom bordered on being terrorists, waged constant war against the quirkless, a war that only brought problems for innocent people. With all of this in mind, walking the alleyways at sunset was just ASKING for trouble.
Maximilian wasn't exactly searching for trouble when he was doing exactly that, though it was unavoidable. To catch the train to Musutafu after buying ice cream from his favorite shop, the fastest way was to cut the road short with a trip through an alleyway or two. It was improbable that he'd be ambushed with such a small shortcut, it really was just five minutes of walking through them at a brisk pace. What Maxi did not have was the ability to lay low, or to use stealth. The frost aura he constantly had on him made sure he didn't. It was a beacon for villains and anti-quirk gangs which, of course, meant that he was now surrounded on both sides by some burly-looking ugly cunts.
They were spouting random bullshit about him being a filthy animal, about being a mutant, a danger to everyone around him. Only one of those could be true in his case, specially if they were to fight him. He wouldn't use his quirk. God forbid, he couldn't. It's illegal. His confidence, however, told him that he could handle himself pretty well, specially since their numbers wasn't that big. He'd get out alive, of that he was sure. Putting down his bag full of ice cream buckets away, the brawl began quite quickly once they got tired of him not answering.
Truth be told, Maxi was ever so slightly afraid of talking. Even knowing he could win and come out alive, he didn't exactly know how much pain would he have to go through. He disliked pain, as one should. At this point, though, he really didn't have a choice. Maxi was fighting graciously, his moves clearly showing someone who was more than what he showed, his dodging capabilities allowing him to sidestep their easy frontal attacks, just to counter-attack with one of his own. Things would start getting complicated the moment people behind him started really joining the fight, while others brandished rudimentary weapons. Relegated to dodging and taking the occasional hit on his arms, he'd need help soon before he got overwhelmed. Otherwise, he might just have to use his quirk..

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | Toma had gotten home around six o'clock, with a present from his mother in hand. She had sent him home with leftover curry she had made for lunch. He quickly reheated and wolfed down the dinner, had a shower, and prepared himself for a night out.
Donning his black leather gear, and mirrored motorcycle helmet, he climbed out the window of his second story building. Clambering down the fire escape to the alley below he began prowling the alleyways, looking for ne'er-do-well and listening into the walkie-talkie chatter from his handset.
After about an hour he had started to think he might need to move into Tokyo proper until he spotted a group of thugs surrounding a young man with blue hair. At first, he held back in a dark alcove and watched. The guy seemed to be holding his own, but eventually, numbers began to conquer him.
Toma stepped out from his stalking spot, activated his Solar Field, and called out to the assembly of anti-quirk assailants. "Hey!" He stepped towards the crowd slowly, his hands glowing a blazing yellow. "Back away from him. " He stopped about three meters away from the crowd, all of them stopping for a moment to turn and look at him. "You are committing assault, if you continue I will be forced to suppress your nefarious activities before turning you into the law."

Well, what a pleasant surprise that Maxi had just gotten. A hero was there to actually help him and, from the way he talked, he seemingly was the real deal, not some knock-off vigilante! From what he had loosely read in the law, this meant he could actually use his quirk as long as he was in his vicinity and allowed to fight. Knowing fully well that the men wouldn't ever stop their charge to try and beat him senseless for being a quirked, he wiped some blood that was leaking from one of his arms, gritting his teeth. "Your warnings fall on deaf ears, here they come again."
He warned Toma just as the attackers went back to the offensive once they got over the fact some "acrobatic ballerina" with a filthy quirk jumped to the assistance of another filthy quirked. For Maxi, this was incredibly good, since he had only things at his front to come and bother him. He had someone taking care of his rear. Cracking his fingers, it was like he could finally let loose, even if he wasn't using his quirk. Dodging from the front was easy, specially against untrained, slow quirkless, a well placed punch or a kick being enough to send them back. "EY! Help me out here and tell me I can use my quirk!" Maxi asked Junji just as another pipe was going down to hit him. The process was easy, almost automated by his body. Side-step, kick the man away while holding his pipe. Smack him upside the head with it and throw it at the next one. They constantly telegraphed their attacks and even those were slow, sluggish. They were untrained racists, just worms that fought in packs.

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | "DO NOT USE YOUR QUIRK ON THEM!" He jumped into the fray and grabbed the arm of a man swinging what looked like a thick wooden dowel rod at the young man. He twisted the man's wrist to make him release his weapon and pushed him back as far as he can. The lynch mob member stumbled into his compatriates, but they helped him stay on his feet.
"These are..." He felt a small twinge of pain and a hollow conk sound as something deflected off his motorcycle helmet. Turning he lashed out and snap kicked a man wielding a broomstick. "..Normal people. You can't hurt them with your Quirk, It's a crime." The crowd started to encircle them, forcing Sunhawk to back up against the young men back.
While the herd encircled, Sunhawk looked for an exit. He took a nasty punch to the cheek for his effort. He dodged away to avoid a second strike, an uppercut aimed at his head. He smiled a cocky smile behind his visor and chuckled as he threw his ungloved hand in the air.
"Cover your eyes kid, cause I'm about to break the Law." He focused his power, pulling it from the ambient field around his body to a focused point at the palm of his hand. A small spark of plasma arced across his hand before exploding in a blinding light.

Well, it really felt like a stupid law to not let him move and defend himself freely! He had a quirk, it was part of him. Not his fault that these rejects didn't have any! Through gritted teeth, he smashed his elbow into the face of one that advanced, being noticeably more violent at the last stretch, using his leg to slam the just-elbowed guy into the ground, away from him. If it continues, he might just have to use his quirk and put them on the ground.
Well, he would, were it not for the sudden warning from this weird stranger telling him to cover his eyes. He quickly did, closing both his eyes and even covering them with an arm-- and even then, he could see the place brightening up. Light quirk? Possibly. Either way, the order he got was to not use his quirk on them, though now he'd use it not only not on them, but also they wouldn't even see it. Assuming that Toma could get out, he clapped his hands and ran towards a wall, scaling it at great speeds, simply using ice as handles and little boosters for him to get to a roof, safely away from them.
Breathing easy, he still looked over the edge, straight down at Toma, seeing just what he'd do to get out. Was he a strong acrobat? He didn't think light could actually propel people.. maybe, his light quirk was more complicated than it seemed. "Get outta there, man!" Maxi called out to him, just in case his vigilante hadn't noticed him climbing the wall to safety. Just in case he couldn't get out quickly, the ice mutant was already priming himself to truly break the law to defend Junji, just as he had defended him.

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | The kid had taken his hint, shielding his eyes well enough not to get blinded in his flash. After the flash ended the lynch mob groaned and moaned, blinded for now and most likely disoriented. Toma watched as his compatriot took his opportunity and bolted towards the wall, scaling it without too much trouble. He was impressed, the icey boy had used his quirk to get off the ground quickly. 'At least he didn't hurt anyone.' He thought to himself.
Toma felt his hand cool down enough to use just as the mob started to recover, he had been distracted making sure the victim had gotten away and hadn't worried about himself. They started to close in on him but he raised his hand again. They faltered for just a moment, but it was enough for him to take off in a run. He made a mighty leap as he neared a fire escape, a normal person wouldn't have been able to make the jump but at the apex of his rise, his hands and feet let loose a tiny spark of light and a sound like a gunshot. Suddenly he was flung into the air high enough to grab the bottom of the third story of the fire escape before pulling himself up. He quickly dashed up to the rooftop and met up with the kid.
He started to run, preparing to leap from rooftop to rooftop until he found somewhere safe to hide out, but he stopped and turned back to Frosty. "Are you coming or no?" He looked down into the alley to see that some of the members of the mob were trying to make their way up. "I know somewhere safe we can go."

Well, the guy sure could do some sick jumps, seeing from how he made it to the roof with relative ease, using his quirk that he simply couldn't figure out what it was anymore. First light, now the sounds of a gunshot? Was he a human arsenal with flashbangs and guns, though all in one quirk? That'd be awesome to think about, though quite unrealistic to happen. Even then, he himself is a frozen mutant of some sort with telepathic control over his own ice. Really can't call anything unrealistic anymore, could he?
At the simple suggestion of starting to do some parkour from rooftop to rooftop, Maxi almost froze a little, no pun intended. He had never done anything of the sort, even if he had what he'd call a natural talent for it that he simply never developed because he was just so damn lazy. He knew Junji could make it, if he could do more of those insane jumps he did before. He couldn't make it without his quirk and, seemingly, Junji wasn't exactly keen on it. "Not without my quirk, no. I'm not some sort of athlete." He explained, still peering over the rooftop, then at his back. He could hear them get closer and, honestly, fighting them on a rooftop was incredibly dangerous for everyone.
Should Junji simply tell him to not care about using his quirk to escape, Maxi would right away start skating in a circle to pick up speed, creating a thin layer of ice below him and ever so slightly ahead of him, easily done thanks to his presence. Behind him, he'd just leave a trail of cold water, or well, molten ice. With the speed picked up, he'd make the jumps with relative safety, even using his quirk to help him not fall on his ass every time he jumped a roof.
If Junji told him to not use his quirk, Maxi would have no choice but to stand still and look at his savior, with the simple bewildered look of a man who waits for the other to finally tell him his master plan.

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | Toma sighed and tightened the straps on his helmet. “Feel free to use your quirk. Just try not to be too obvious.” He wiggled his helmet to make sure it was snug, while it wasn’t really useful for protection it was what kept his identity a secret so he needed to make sure it stayed tight. ‘Note to self. Get actual protection in the future.’ He stretch for a second and started to run, down the row of close rooftops. The gaps weren't very large this way, something any person could jump over, but they needed to switch down to the alleys soon.
“Listen…” He stopped when the run of rooftops ran out. “We need to get to this warehouse. To make it easier to follow I’ll do this.” He lifted his hand and let off a small amount of energy. His hand glew faintly, but as the night closed and the alleys grew tight it should still help frosty keep track.
Toma started to back up to the edge of the rooftop. “If you keep up I’ll answer all your questions.” Then suddenly he took a step back and disappeared. He snagged the lip of the rise with his fingers before he fell to his death. Holding himself up he looked down quickly and made a judgment call. Letting go he fell, maybe two stories, before he let loose a spark and explosion of force from his hands. His Tauri Leap countered his fall, slowing him down enough to allow him to land on the ground with a thump, but no broken or twisted bones. He grunted hard as he rose from his knees and started running off a dark alley.
He ran for maybe five minutes before slowing down near a large garage door. Pulling a set of keys from his pocket he popped the padlock and lifted the metal door. Inside were a bunch of loose packages. Things he or his family had attempted to deliver but were either addressed wrong or refused. It would be the perfect place to hide out while the lynch mob died down.

Well, he could use his quirk, it was a start, really. Breathing in deep, he ran behind Toma while he lead him down the row of close rooftops, telling him that they should get to some warehouse, leading him to be ever so slightly suspicious. Thankfully, he wasn't 8 and Toma didn't look like a priest, so he guessed he should go along with it for now. Either that or getting himself in danger at the hands of quirkless assholes.
Lead by the nice light that Toma used, Maximillian did his best to keep up, since he was also given the promise of an answer to all his questions, about to say something before being interrupted by the fact that he simply just threw himself off of the roof. Quickly getting to the edge, he saw him fall and stop himself again with that ability he simply couldn't figure out at all. Oh god, how would he go down? Curbing his own fear, Maximillian jumped down, not knowing how to stop his fall or even scale down quickly without fucking everything up. Instead, uniting his own hands, he encased himself in quite a thick ice ball, 3 metre radius around his body, slamming right down on the ground like a massive hail ball. Not exactly gracious, though he had no other choice, if he didn't want to get hurt.
Using his control to press and crack at the ball, he busted it open as if it was an egg, jumping off and skating right behind Toma, doing his best to keep up all the way to the garage door, sliding right inside once it was open. As a trail, the only thing left was a cracked ice ball. Were it daytime, they could possibly follow the molten-water trail over to the garage. Thanks to the dark night, they couldn't. "Alright... A-- Fuck, Alright." The boy spent at least a minute to gather his thoughts and rest a bit after that situation, almost wishing that his quirk wasn't so "public", his hands rubbing his face quietly. "Alright, ok.. You. What's your name and what the hell is your quirk?" Not the tone he intended, he really wasn't angry or even bothered at Junji at all. Hell, he was actually thankfull for his heroic rescue! It was just.. he was still a little panicked from falling from such a height.
Quietly, he lowered his head respectfully. "And thank you."

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | “First off…” He was a little irked by Frosties attitude at first. But when he apologized he realized the kid was most likely in shock. It's not every day you run from a mob threatening to kill you. He sighed and shut the garage door behind them. “Your welcome.”
“My name is Sunhawk.” He pointed to the symbol stitched into the black leather of his riding suit. In the center of his chest was a red hawk, wings spread wide over a blazing yellow sun. He’d come up with the symbol when he had decided to start his new line of work. “And my quirk is called Solar Field.” He held one hand out, palm upwards and fingers bent like he was holding a wine glass. It started to glow faintly, before rising to a blazing yellow with arcs of solar plasma coiling across his fingers. “I can create and modulate solar energy. Kinda like being a mini sun.”
He pointed his palm towards Max as the glow started to pulse. Now instead of sparks of plasma, he let off a few pulses of heat in Max’s direction. The air between Toma’s hand and Max started to heat rapidly, stopping at a warm 26° before dissipating as his glow slowly faded away.

Maxi was almost recoiling, knowing that his crass attitude, which was brought up by his slight fear, shock and adrenaline would make this weird-haired guy go mad at him, though he quickly calmed down and simply gave Maximillian a "You're welcome." It made him ease up noticeably as well, knowing that he wouldn't have to trouble himself with getting scolded, having gotten proof that the vigilante who had saved him was a nice, stable person who didn't have some sort of love for violence Vespa holy shit.
Now, he presented himself as "Sunhawk", aptly named from the hawk on his riding suit, over the sun. It made him think about who came first. Not the egg and chicken, but the name Sunhawk and the hawk emblem. Maybe he named himself after the emblem on his favorite suit. Maybe he had it custom made after his own hero name, which was honestly incredibly dorky, though admirable. When his quirk was revealed, the latter of his assumptions gained much more strength in his theory: His quirk turned him into the fucking sun, at least a miniature, humanized and clearly weaponized version of it.
Looking down at the pulses of heat that he could feel being shot at him, Toma got to see just how intense his heat-sucking capabilities could get when he was rushing with adrenaline, a state which he hadn't calmed himself from just yet, with the heat fading away noticeably quicker than normal, even taking the Garage back to the cold temperature Maxi involuntarily turned it into.
Though, one question still lied in his mind, one that he really wanted answers to. "How the hell did you make that gun jump, though? Did you do some sort of process which the sun sometimes goes through, by creating an explosion of pure energy which shoots fire on top of itself or something?" The studied boy asked, having remembered it thanks to the fact that he was crazy about space when he was around five, six years old. Though having been crazy about it when he was just a real small kid did muddy his memory a bit, he didn't remember the processes to their more important details.

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | “Gun jump?” He must have seemed clueless for a second as he feigned scratching his chin, which he couldn't actually do with his helmet on. “Oh. My leap. I call it the Tauri Leap, like the star system.” He held his hand out, palm up, and gave him a little demonstration.
“I actually focus my field into a super fine point.” He concentrated and a microscopic spark appeared in the center of his palm. It was tiny, smaller than the head of a pin, but shone brightly. “Once I’m ready I let it go…” He let it loose and a small crack like a child's cap gun firing rang out in the storage building. It was a weaker version of his usual pop but it still pushed his hand down a few inches.
“The resulting release of energy superheats the air under my hands, or feet, pushing the air away from me rapidly and propelling me away from wherever I point my extremities.”
He shook his wrist loose from the light impact and looked over at the kid. Despite him trying to calm down he saw a familiar spark in his eyes. Rage and indignation, roiling and boiling below the surface. “Listen, you’ve got a lot of anger in you. If your not careful you might do something you will regret.” He sighed and peaked through a pull-slot he had installed on the door.
Things seemed to have gotten quiet. No pounding feet, no lynch mob yelling for revenge. “You go to that Hero school don’t you?”

Relatively simple explanation, courtesy of Mr. Sunhawk who showed him just how it worked. In Maxi terms, he does a boom, the air gets hot and goes away so fast it pushes him away as well. He does this in a small space and uses this to fly through the skies! Yes, very simple, even if it felt like an affront to physics; though in fairness quirks themselves are an affront to everything ever and, to top it off, it wasn't like Toma's explanation was theoretically wrong either, it actually made some sense at least.
“Seems legit.” Maximilian said after taking a short while to try and make his feeble, young teenage mind understand all the insane stuff behind that quirk and special technique, even quietly imitating the hand movements that Toma did, to try and figure out just what he would do and if he could do something like that with his quirk. He could give himself recoil from creating ice directly from his body but no, it was not strong or safe enough to send him barrelling through the air and alive at the same time. Idea discarded, at least for now. Or forever, Maxi didn't quite know where his quirk and abilities would take him yet.
Right now, he was just really fucking pissed.
Toma noticed it and directly referenced it, in a move that he would certainly classify as “ballsy” and maybe a little “stupid”, to tell a volatile elemental guy to calm down before he gets too pissed -- think, when have the words “Calm down” ever worked on someone who is pissed out of his mind? If anything, they are more often than not angered even further by those words. Either way, captain milkshakes couldn't just let that warning go unanswered, it was the sort of statement one couldn't just ignore. “Not right now. I am not in the right state of mind to let go of anger right now.”

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | “Well, you need to get your shit straight, frosty.” The kid mouthed back at him, he could understand if he was angry but this was downright indignation and fury. “You’re going to get yourself killed if you don’t learn to control yourself.” He looked at the young man, he didn’t know him but he would put one hundred yen down that he had a pride that got him in trouble more than once.
“You think they...” He emphasized his wording to get across the ambiguous nature of they. “Give a shit if you're pissed? Your enemies will use that fury and self-righteous attitude against you.” Toma quickly checked the mail slot, the coast looked completely clear. “I bet they already have…” Toma thanked his lucky stars that he had learned that lesson early.
“Looks safe.” He popped the lock and slid up the garage style door. It was getting really late, only the farthest reaches of the suns rays shining on the horizon. “You might want to make your way to that fancy school quickly. I can’t escort you since they’d arrest me if they knew I existed.” He stepped out of the storage building and took a good look around. It didn’t look like the lynch mob had even made it into the alley.

Maximillian's eyes stared straight at Junji while he ordered him to keep his shit straight, a very light twitch of the corner of his mouth showing a little bit of disdain over being bossed around, though it quickly faded away just as it came in, with the frozen boy coming to respect Junji after realising that his words were correct, as well as the fact that he had merit of bossing him around with clear experience and powers that were equal to his.
Sighing, Maxi looked down and nodded solemnly to Junji's advice, not saying another word with fear of saying something stupid and make him mad because of the fact that, no matter how much reason he tried to put in there, he just couldn't let go of that intense anger though, for now at least, he could hide it quite well.
Instead, he just quietly moved over to the door where Junji was looking out to scout for them, seemingly seeing that no one had followed them, much to Maxi's pleasure. If they decided not to follow Maxi and Junji, that means that they wouldn't have to get hurt. Wait, what? Weird thought, Maxi was happy that he wouldn't have to hurt them, not afraid of him getting hurt or even having to fight..
That's probably nothing.
"That's great.. Uhm.. thank you for your help again. I hope we'll meet under better circumstances next time." Maximillian bowed to Junji respectfully and, when he assured by himself that he didn't see anyone coming after him, he waved to his savior and simply ran out, quietly thinking about his tip of leaving behind his anger and hatred, to "get his shit straight". He probably should really, what was building up inside him was dangerous indeed. From now on, he would do his best to not let hatred consume him since, after all, it was just the second attack at the hand of a quirkless mob.
It wasn't like this could repeat itself that much.
