Post by Nimue Nakahara on Jul 14, 2020 5:42:38 GMT -4
It was at least positive in her own opinion, that she was not a new face. She had already met the students of 1-S because she had been their biology teacher for the last 3-4 months so that was something. This was an unfortunate timing because next week their summer holiday would start but she wanted to take over from her colleague in a rapid matter. Even if the summer holiday was there, after that came the midterms and she wanted the students to at least have someone to ask, and thus have a homeroom teacher. So with permission from the principal, Nimue Nakahara switched from being the biology teacher and school nurse to be the 1-S homeroom teacher and school nurse. That fitted her better if she would say so herself. Now she would wait for the students to arrive in their classroom and would hopefully not surprise them too much, that Vega was doing some sort of mission and had been away quite a few days (or so she believed he said) was known to the right.
She would wait, curious about who would show up first and if they would be okay with her being the new teacher. Even winning a popularity contest did not mean that she did not have a sort of twist in her stomach about the nerves that were here. She just did want what was best for the students and if they would prefer someone else that was available, yea well... at the moment that would mean they would have to deal with her for the rest of the year. Okay, stop talking badly about yourself, it would go fine, she had a nice biology trip at the start of the year with Niji and Jin and she had the art classes with Beaumont, it would be fine. So, when everyone was where she would start. "Goodmorning everyone, I hope you all are doing well, I am here as your new homeroom teacher, you all may already know that Junji-sensei had too many other things to do that he could unfortunately not combine teaching with the active-duty he had. So today, I will give you the announcements of the school, next week is the last week of your classes before the summer holiday, this means that the classrooms will be closed, you can still go and use the facilities as the cafeteria and so on, and of course the dorms and clubrooms. If you are going home, please inform Tsuchiya-san of the reception about your departure and when you will return." She would go on for a short bit before smiling at them a little more relaxed.
"Now, let's go outside for our first class, I hope I am not repeating too much of Vega's classes but bare with me, especially after the holidays we will pick up very quickly on new classes." She had some plans but thank god for the holidays so she could work them out in finer detail and not be stupidly nervous. She was doing okay, right?

Why was he seated next to Colt on the chart...
[break][break]
Guess the universe wanted to keep up its sick kicks and give him trouble. At least they weren't in the same dorm room anymore...things were better this way. It wasn't that he hated or despised the gentle healer....it's what he did that cut him deep and stung his heart. All of it...it fucking hurt to look at him sometimes. The only way to cope was retreat back into his shell and hide his emotions where they could be safe and choose his words carefully.
[break][break]
A good strategy was key to victory and he was going to make it, no matter what...he wasn't going to let Colt cause him to regress. Not by a long shot. Those cold, damn near vacant eyes rest their gaze upon their teacher, a pillar who saved him from falling to pieces and giving up once and for all. The very teacher who taught him the important lesson of understanding that it was okay to reach out, speak to others...it wasn't weak, it wasn't stupid, it was a form of strength to have such courage. Though he would be there for Colt if he needed someone to speak to or confide in...Beaumont was no longer his goddamn bodyguard.
[break][break]
Those days were over, that chapter came to a close the moment he made it clear that it was time to turn in his badge, so to speak. Lacing his fingers together upon the table as though he was constantly mapping out some sort of plan, it wasn't wrong for someone to assume, they wouldn't be wrong. Bringing his hands apart, leaving both palms upon the table as he stood up to his full height, less like a timid student ridden in anxiety and more like a soldier. The way he glanced around the room was almost trained and honed like someone was looking for some sort of danger, but found nothing. Quietly, carefully, he made his way toward the door and held it open for everyone and patiently waited.
[break][break]
Yes, even for Colt...he was eerily calm, cool and collected right now, not a total asshole, after all.

Niji's new year started... a bit rougher than normal. She had a small breakdown at the beginning of the year. She was overworking herself in the lab. She ran late for cheerleader tryouts. She was a part of a riot. And to top it all off, she needed to prove to the benefactors of her plans by the end of the year. And oh, did she mention she was trying to get back into singing? Niji felt like her life was one big soap opera.
But they were good things that came out all of this. She met Honey and Harhuui, two people that supported and encouraged her. She had many friends and at the same time met some unique people. She felt encouraged to go back out and try more things. She even started dating Desmoshi Haymaker. Yes, he could be loud and annoying to others. But he was also kind and thoughtful. And although their relationship started a little rocky, they were finally finding their rhythm in it all. Niji blushed at the thought of even getting this far with a boyfriend. But all in all, she was happy.
And speaking of new experiences, Toma-sensei had stepped down from teaching to keep up with his hero duties. Niji never thought that she would be seeing a teacher leaving before the break, nor did she expect that her new homeroom teacher would be Nimue-sensei. She had met her before on the biology trip and wasn't surprised that she would take up the mantle of the Supports homeroom teacher. She had heard rumors that Nimue-sensei disappeared for a while. But she didn't pry too much into that.
As Niji entered the classroom, she said a quick "Good morning" to her sensei as she took her seat in the classroom. She was always surprised at how small the support classes were. Maybe because most of the students were more combat-heavy than others, but this was fine. A small class means an easier work ethic when it came to tasks. Or least that what she read in a magazine once.
Nimue-sensei came out with an introduction, announcements about upcoming events, and offered for the class to go outside. Niji was curious as she followed her class. What was she up to?

Colt arrived early, so he could start on his sketches for the commissions that he received over the last few weeks. So to say he was a busy bee was a bit of an understatement. But he didn't mind all too much, thankfully with Monty giving him more space and time to himself- and letting him grow as a person. Colt has been on cloud nine in his personal growth, but he hasn't realized that he has been dimming Monty's sense of self-worth with his branches. As far as Colt knew everything was fine, everything was good, and everything was maybe better since Monty was giving him his long sought after independence without being fretted over. As far as Colt was concerned, everything was fine.
So Colt kept on his sketching and linework on his commissions as Monty and Niji arrived one at a time- Colt couldn't get used to how little the class size is compared to the others- but it'd made classes feel more connected thanks to it. So Colt had no objections to it, and he got to sit next to Monty, so that was good. Colt still firmly believed everything was fine, even though it wasn't.
The class got alerted by the school of the change in homeroom teacher, so Colt expected the change who it was. It was Nimue Sensei, which made sense and frankly got Colt excited over the prospect of being able to hone his healing capabilities on top of clothe-making. Colt felt like he was lagging behind some of his other classmates and the other classes- so he'll need to catch up quickly to make up for the lost time. Colt listened intently to the woman as she explained the stuff with their previous teacher, which Colt admittedly didn't know much about. And she said the class will head outside for today, which got Colt excited as he hasn't got to use his quirk often so far thus far. So once the class was ready to go, Colt was the third to get up and ready to head out as Monty held the door opened for everybody else, which got a smile and a small oblivious "Thank you," out of Colt as he followed their teacher outside.
Colt's head is empty, with no thoughts outside of his growth and change, much like nature, it is oblivious to the harm it has caused.

Post by Poemu Akechi on Jul 15, 2020 13:34:20 GMT -4
'Ehhh, a new teacher? I barely got to know the old one, lol.'
Poemu's first thoughts about the news were a mixture of ambivalence and intrigue. She'd never really taken much effort to get to know Toma-sensei, and what little she had seen, didn't interest her all that much. He seemed like one of those guys who thought he was some kind of maverick, totally not her style. That ambivalence turned to intrigue when she found out that their (now former) Biology teacher, Nimue-sensei would be taking over their class.
'For real? Damn, this gives me such bragging rights...'
The news quickly had her thinking of ways to make some of her Hero-Fan internet friends very jealous. Though, she did realize eventually, that she might want to actually, instead, focus on the class itself and making the most of her time at U.A... Ever since coming there Poemu hadn't been up to all that much. A few interactions here and there, but overall, she felt... Stagnant. Trapped. Going through the same motions as before, even when she expected some great change.
So, on the day they'd first be having Nimue as their teacher, Poemu told herself the same thing she'd said plenty times before. This time, this day, she was going to be better, and make something of herself instead of being some geek in her room! With a fleeting sense of bravado, Poemu headed off to class, ready to take this whole UA thing super seriously, make friends, and be popular!
She also had some games on her phone in case she got bored of that.
Well, only time would tell how well things went. Entering the classroom with her uniform looking passable at best, Poemu bowed her head quickly to her teacher with a quick "Yo, morning, sensei!" Before heading over to her own seat. One thing she had gotten better at was dealing with the fact that her school was full of celebrities. Over time, you just kinda... Got used to it, and started treating them as normal teachers.
Didn't stop her bragging, though.
Seeing how small their class was, Poemu glanced over her classmates, who she... Mostly didn't know that well.
'Beaumont... Cool blonde prince... Niji... Weird rich girl... Colt... Crossdressing dumbass..."
Their class started with some standard preamble, who explained why their previous teacher was gone, and hinted at what they might be doing today. All standard stuff, but man, Nakahara-sensei was waaaay cooler than the last guy... Poemu was starting to see why the 'cool and smart' types were in, and the 'big, dumb, strong' types were out.
Without much fanfare, they were headed out of the classroom, with Beaumont holding the door for them. He was pretty attractive, Poemu noted. She wondered how things were going with him and Colt. They were tooootally a thing, she figured.

Another change of tune in the life of Jin..
Much of the school year was rather hectic for his time here as he had bore witness to several incidents transpiring within the school and outside it. Teachers disappearing and coming back, many new faces showing up, the prison break, the cyber attack on the school network, it was all tiring to say the least. Adding on to the unfortunate departure of Toma-Sensei, he now has a new deal with the ever present changes in both the school roster and the teacher themselves. Luckily it was someone he knew already, namely Nimue Nakahara. Pro Hero, Biology teacher, Well known in the Medical Field, one of the Top 10 heroes and nurse at our school. It was safe to say that she has quite the list of skills. Rather fortunate to have her as a teacher.
But things like this are rather tiresome as he rode his longboard to class as usual as he listened to his music. He wasn't late by any means but finishing up another pet project does take a lot out of someone. Taking his usual turns as he had plans over the summer break, mostly working on and finishing a set of drones that help him scout. The only issues come at the hand of Navigation AI and how to get the map info without tapping into any of the major satellites. Worse for worse he may need to make his….nevermind that for now.
As Jin neared his homeroom, he could hear a few new voices coming from inside with two familiar ones mixed in. He entered only to catch that they will be doing a class outside. His expression remained neutral as always as he looked at Nimue. “... I assume it is going to be a standard introductory thing with the class and getting to know each other, yes?”

After the small bits of information that she had to give the class for today, though something else would follow later she would make sure that the class would follow her outside and Beaumont was the first to get up and open the door. She smiled at him and managed her way into the hallway to see Jin. She had already noticed before with Biology that being on time wasn't his thing and she wasn't the most difficult person. "Goodmorning Nakamura-kun, you may never guess again." She said as a teasing joke and invited the president of 1-S to walk with her to outside. "Did you do that before with Vega?" She asked him for information but that would not change her plans for her own starting and introduction class, she was going to learn what everyone their focus was. And as she was now the teacher of a rather small class, she wanted to put her extra time in helping them personally instead of only in class form and make sure that they would be up and ready for next year and knowing what they wanted to do or who would be their inspiration to work with.
Once outside she asked them to form a little circle with her and that if the grass was dry enough in this morning that they would sit down. "I know this sounds a bit dull but you guys have to help me around on my first-class for you. I would like to know two things, your quirk and if you have any plans on what to do with it, like trying to get better control or trying to learn something new and why you wanted to come to this school and be a support hero." She explained it hopefully very well, it might be stupid for some if they had to do this with Vega before but she hoped the understood she was new to it. For with biology they never talked about their quirks, they talked about the class and the things they needed to learn to pass that high school subject. "Feel free to display a little of your quirk, alright?" She looked around to see the five faces before deciding to not put too much pressure on them, and thus she started with herself. "Well, you all know me as Nakahara-sensei, I am okay with being called Nimue, so do what makes you feel comfortable, alright? I have a quirk that makes me able to transform my body and abilities into the knowledge of entities." Her eyes turning blue instead of amber to show her power, "Which gives me the ability to heal, have a more durable body and quite some strength." Her eyes turning back to amber, "I wanted to be a hero to use my quirk for good, helping people and especially civilians and victims of villain attacks when it came to healing. In the last two years, I have worked hard on becoming better to also work as a rescue hero and be able to defend and support others." She smiled and made sure there were no questions before turning to the person on her left, they were going to do this clockwise.

"You're welcome." A polite formality was spoken to the healer who carried with him the aspirations of making hero costumes for those who would be upon the battlefield one day. They all had a role to play and that's the one he wanted...good for him. It was best that he'd been left behind by the one who sprouted little wings...their paths no longer connected as they did before. Those roads closed off in a landslide of realization that it simply wasn't meant to be.
One who lost value found it once more, the other simply wanting more and more for themselves because it was never enough. Beaumont knew that no matter how hard he tried, he'd never be good enough in those jade eyes, thus it was time to accept the time was now for him to learn something more. A profound lesson of learning to love and appreciate the one who would look back at him in the mirror day in and day out. It turns out...he turned himself into a stranger, but that's alright, Beaumont was taking the reigns and guiding himself in a new direction. Upon the path toward happiness and self discovery...it was actually a pleasant journey so far.
[break][break]
Lowering his head into a bow, the blonde boy was on auto-pilot to an extent as those around him carried on. Listening as each and every person's footsteps carried them out of the room. Silent, quiet no further words passed his lips just yet. Making sure that the class was clear, his eyes darted around as a quick double and triple check before following the rest of the class.
[break][break]
Don't let him back in.
[break][break]
That was something he had to remind himself like a mantra in a world full of chances...that was something he wasn't going to risk. The boy was to be kept at an arm's length...that's the sort of person he was now, he couldn't trust him, not anymore.
[break][break]
Sitting down in a circle, he sat there as though partaking in a tea ceremony of some sort, resting his hands upon his lap. Hopefully Colt would go sit somewhere else, but he would just keep tolerating the distant friend of his all the same. At least they had someone with a strong, good heart as their teacher...someone genuinely wonderful and cared so much about the world around her. It turns out he was the first to go in show and tell. Bowing once more, he spoke up with a polite air about his voice, "My name is Beaumont Favager, but please feel free to call me Monty if my first or last name is too much of a hassle, I promise not to take any offense to such formalities being tossed aside." Sitting upright, he looked around and carried on with his little introduction.
[break][break]
"My quirk is called Internal Forgery, it's absolutely disgusting and would rather not ruin anyone's appetite with it. The core aspect of my quirk is I can create a malleable, metallic putty which can be molded by my hands into tools, weapons, armor and more. I am limited by my own skill and ability to work quickly with the metallic putty my body creates, so I have much to learn due to the sheer versatility I have at my disposal. I can also...generate...prepped tools and weapons. I prefer to have time before entering a fight, it's presently the best way to utilize my quirk. I have yet to work around the disadvantages of it on the battlefield, thus my quirk is not the most ideal nor most efficient in a pinch. I'm certain that in due time, there will be a solution to such a problem."
[break][break]
Taking a moment of pause with a calm breath in and soft exhale...there was a dedicated air of passion to his words, melting away a bit at the exterior of his cold words, "As for what drives me to be here at this academy among all of you, it's to become a hero. I'm not here to seek out a place at the top of the charts one day, be the best in the eyes of the media, nor do I believe myself to be the strongest. I trained and worked on conditioning my body well enough to make the cut for U.A so that one day, I'll be able to aid in not only protecting all that I love and care about in this world...but making a change, an impact on our current society. My hope, my dream...it's to shape and mold the structure of how we presently define equality among those with and without quirks. I believe that with enough hard work...we can prove to those who doubt the pro hero program that although it is not perfect, it's a solution all of us need to guarantee safety in a world harboring twisted individuals who will abuse their power. The summary is I'm going to do my best to make things better for as many people as possible and I won't give up with ease. When I can do something to make a difference, whether it's helping someone in need or dealing with a criminal, as long as it's within my power, I will take a course of action, not turn a blind eye."
[break][break]
And with that long little tell...he sat there and whoever spoke next, demonstration or not, they would have the blonde's full, unwavering attention. Yes, even Colt. He was absolutely there, fully checked in and willing to hear them out, each and every one.

“Yes but it was only with Niji-kun and me...most of it was rather a test of making something out of scraps and seeing if it can stop his quirk.” Jin responded to Nimues question as he walked with the class. A part of him needs to make more of an effort to make it to class on time because its going to build up. But now is not the time to worry as he now has to work on introducing himself to a new bunch...not too difficult he guesses.
As they went outside, he neatly set aside his stuff as he took in the sun and fresh air as he looked at the class. He listened to Nimue as she gave the usual introduction and what the class is for them. Not the most exciting thing but she is the new teacher and with things are, its not gonna be hard to do it again. Of course, the teacher was the first one to go up as she of course gave the class the business on who she was and whatnot. Though her description is backed up by her reputation as everyone knows who she is and how strong she is.
After that, introductions began as he saw one of the new kids go up, a blonde who was rather elegant in his language from first impression. His ears adjusted a bit as he listened to his introduction. Noting down names in his pocketbook as he did: Monty, quirk is able to mold metal with his hands...focused on being a front line fighter...so on. He didn't make it a habit to note down motivations out of courtesy...but he might as well for the future. A lot to write down but he made it through as he finished his introduction. Jin closed his pocketbook as he adjusted his headphones as he stood up.
“My name is Jin Nakamura, class president and resident gadget maker of this class.”, he opened up as he cracked his neck. Formal introductions were not his forte as he went ahead with his quirk explanation and his passions. He has to show why he is class president after all.
“My quirk is rather simple in concept but rather complicated in application. I can vibrate my cells to create various pitches of sound so I can quote on quote see inside the gadgets i work with. Additionally my hearing is quite sensitive and I can shoot off small bursts of sound to about the length of a small room.”, he held his palm out for a moment as he activated his quirk for the duration of about three seconds. A sound that can be compared to strumming a bass guitar can be heard from coming from his hand before he stopped.”My body is quite frail but I do plan on supplementing these shortbringings with technology I create with my own hands. WIth time I can catch up with my seniors in due time.”, he explained in a determined yet calm tone of voice.
As he closed his eyes for a moment he continued. “ My drive comes from an innate need to help every quirker around with their daily lives. To show that they can live normal lives with the gadgets I'm making, that they can live comfortably. I came to UA to further my studies in the field and work on more fields than just simply making gadgets. My aim is to make things that can benefit a great number of people with my own hands and push a new age of technology a few generations. Technology can ultimately be used to help and push quirkers forward and create a better future for all of us when given the chance. If anyone here wants some tech made, feel free to speak to me and I can arrange something. Thank you”, Jin bowed as he sat back down as he waited for the next person to introduce themselves.

After listening to Jin's introduction, Niji spoke up next. she had most of the students at the 1-S party, which was awkward at first but worked itself out the end. She also knew Nimue-sensei, who she enjoyed to be around and was excited for her being her homeroom teacher. But it always felt weird reintroducing yourself when you already met before. Then again, it could be a chance she has not met a student yet or they may have forgotten about her.
"Hello," Niji greeted with a smile, her Rainbow glowing brightly in her chest. "My name is Niji Uta and I also focus on making gadgets." She held out her hand for all to see. "My quirk allows me to use rainbow-colored nanobots inside my body to create technology-based items." As she spoke, the rainbow liquid spilled from the pores of her skin and race up to her hand. A swirled around for a second before forming into a cellphone. A swirled around again, and it was a high-tech sword. Niji went through a number of times before dispelling her quirk, dispersing into sparkling dust.
When it came time to talk about her goals, she gave a sad smile. The night when she lost her father and friends still hurt, but she met Honey, who helped her refocus on what she needed to do. She still had nightmares about it and what was worse that no one could be held responsible for what had happened. But she did. And that's why... "The reason I want to be a hero is so I can rescue those who can't save themselves..." Niji thought back to that night when everything was taking from her. She was only nine when she witnessed the tragedy. It was supposed to be a harmless, birthday sleepover. The local girl band Symphony had thrown a sleepover for their bandleader, Niji. All seven of her friends had come to celebrate.
That was until the sound of a wooden door being smashed in. The mad scientist came in and tied the girls up, demanding that Niji's father came to face him. "... to provide tech to those who need it the most...," Niji continued her expression slightly changing. Her father only wanted to change the world through his research. But the mad scientist wanted more. He wanted her father's life. He wanted what he was owed. Niji's father pleaded to let the girls go and take him instead. But the mad scientist had other plans. He pulled out a small switch, stating that the mansion was rigged to blow, killing everyone inside.
Niji still had nightmares of the night. "...and to protect the people, so they don't have to suffer from losing someone." Her smile was gone, replaced by a serious look of determination. Niji's father knew that there was no other option. He couldn't save everyone. But maybe he could save his daughter. He reached out and pressed a button on the young girl's Rainbow core, a device used to control Niji's quirk.
Her quirk activated and provide her with an egg-like, nano shield. It’s thin glass shown with many rainbow-like colors as Niji was able to see everything through it. She was good enough with her quirk at the time. Her father knew this. It was only going to save her. She watched the explosion go off. The explosion could be heard through her egg-like dome. She couldn’t turn the shield off or extend to help her father and friends. It was only protecting her. She watched as the explosion engulfed her room. The mad scientist with evil smile…. Her friends’ tears of fear and confusion… her father’s “I love you”... All gone within the flames. And she watched it all.
Everyone called it the Uta Incident, as though it was something that would be remembered in the history books. But Niji wanted to forget. But people did forget. There was no arrests to be made. It was though her whole world had left her. Her guardian and butler, Jeeves, took her in and began rebuilding the mansion. However, nothing could bring back what Niji lost.
But she wasn't going to give up. Like Honey had told her. Look forward to the future. Because that's they have wanted her to do. To sit here sad would serve no purpose and she needed to be a purpose. She took her spot back, giving a small smile of hope.

Poemu's classmates weren't all to talkative, at least. She hated having to do weird small talk, she always felt so forced and stiff... Though, she did still want to make some semblance of a shadow of an attempt at making friends with her peers, so maybe she should speak up more once in a while. Aside from her silly little greetings and whatever shit she was spouting in chat when she was bored. Well, it was all still a work in progress, really.
Nimue did as she'd said she would and led the class outside for some of the usual introductory fanfare, blah blah blah. They'd never really done things like this with the old, more boring teacher, but it was pretty standard 'introduce yourself to your classmates' stuff, she figured. Though, Poemu hadn't expected it all to actually take place outside, sitting on the grass. Made sense, kinda. Their new teacher seemed to be the nature-loving type. Poemu just sat down wherever, looking forward to mostly getting this stuff over and done with. As she sat lazily, she glanced around to her other classmates while Nimue spoke. Usual stuff, they just had to say who they were, what their Quirk was - which made sense for U.A. - and... Ah...
Why they wanted to come to U.A. and be a support hero.
Shit.
When Nimue mentioned that question, Poemu felt an instant knot in her gut. Answering all the other stuff was fine, but this question, well... She wasn't even sure she knew how to answer it. The girl began fidgeting with her prosthetic fingertips, feeling discomforted and uncertain. How was she supposed to answer that? Well, whatever, she didn't have to do anything too dramatic, right? These were just other misfit Quirkers like her, after all, right? Sure, Nimue's answer was all big and heroic, but it was her job to be.
Unfortunately, her own inferiority quickly became clear with Beaumont's triumphant turn.
He spoke smoothly and cleanly, reminding Poemu of why she'd dubbed him a 'prince' in her head. Confidently declaring altruistic and noble goals, driven by greater purpose. Half of her wanted to roll her eyes, the other half couldn't help but realize that this might be a sign of how out of her depth she was. Who the hell was she next to idealistic people like these?
Her mind wasn't helping her any, she tried to reason. Though, even that lazy laidback kid, Jin, and the weird rich girl, Niji, offered similar responses, if not quite as princely. Poemu spent half the time of the other people's speeches thinking about how to answer, and the other half realizing she still didn't really know what to say. So, by the time it was her turn... Well, it was time to wing it.
"Uh, you guys are all pretty serious, huh? Definitely the most intense class intro, heh..." She tried to joke, before quickly moving on to the actual meat of things. "Oh, right, my Quirk. So, like, uh... Probs best to show it, lol." Poemu said hurriedly, raising up one of her hands and plucking off a couple of the prosthetic fingertips, revealing the flash-drives that protruded from her fingers. "Pretty much what it looks like, I can use these to download data, store it, and upload it. Like, my brain's its own hard-drive, and these let me connect it to others. Basically I'm like... A human flash drive, hehe." Poemu let out that awkward laugh, offering an equally awkward finger gun before realizing she was facing down the hard questions.
Putting back her prosthetic fingertips with her hand, she paused for a moment, thinking, before answering the query. "As for why I joined U.A., um..." With no prior thought, she decided to just see where her words took her.
"I guess, I like... Figured I should? Uh, that sounds bad... I mean like, I, y'know, I've got a Quirk that's pretty handy, and y'know, I should use it. For... Heroing, and stuff. It's like, something I can actually do, lol... Um, yeah, that's pretty much it."
With that knot still in her gut, she sat back down again, shrinking slightly into herself. That was the best she could come up with? Not like it wasn't at least a bit true, but it still felt... Wrong, to Poemu at least. Seeing everyone else's response made her realize something, that perhaps what she'd felt most when she'd told her parents she was planning to apply for U.A. wasn't some sense of duty or greater purpose. It was shame.
Man... She really wished she could pull out her phone and game a bit right now.

Colt's classmates were so cool Colt knew Monty was always an awesome person, especially lately, since he stopped babying and let him grow by himself. Jin was also quite chill and had a chill introduction. Niji was so heroic with her speech, and Colt knew she was going to make an amazing hero. Poemu seemed uncertain of herself and unsure how to answer but found her voice somewhat and made a small speech about herself. Colt was getting all giddy and excited by each of their reasons for why they were here.
When it got to Colt's turn, Colt smiles as he started to glow a soft gold as a pair of small white wings appear on his back as he activated his quirk. Colt's wings quickly flaps, and soon he was hovering off the ground. Colt "My name is Colt Anges, and I aim to be a heroic outfit designer and medical Pro-hero, and my hero name is pending right now." Colt started as he spun around in the air to show off his wings to his classmates before going on some more.
"My quirk was called Divine Gift by those around me back in France, so I guess that's what we shall call it. The main strength of my quirk is that I regenerate from wounds, can heal wounds of others, and cleanse people of ailments and also these wings, which, despite their tiny size, lets me fly! But to be honest, I feel like I'm struggling to keep up with everybody here, despite how much and how hard I study I'm lagging in grades, I keep failing in my heroic classes no matter how hard I try. And I-" don't feel close to anybody here, with Monty moving out of our dorm, I feel lonely. That is what Colt wanted to say, and his smile faltered for a moment, but he forced himself to bounce back and put on another smile.
"But I guess that's why I am here after all? To get better and always improve! Despite how hard it can be, that's why we are here at the end of the day? I want to be a hero, worthy of the title, and to inspire those with hope and bravery no matter what, to make others feel safe and able to smile through the darkest of days knowing that somebody out there, somewhere is fighting for them and cares for them despite everything." Colt optimistically said with a broad and bright smile as his quirk glowed even more as he spoke.
But despite the optimistic tone of his voice and demeanor, Colt has some doubt bubbling up in his stomach like bile threatening to spill out of his mouth. Colt, despite everything he has said and how he plays himself off as he felt like he didn't belong among such heroic, smart, skilled, and amazing people. Colt, despite everything given to him all of these opportunities and chances to improve, he felt like he hasn't been taking them to the best of his abilities that Colt has somehow been squandering his chances since being at U.A. Colt felt out of place here.

Post by Nimue Nakahara on Jul 27, 2020 7:16:22 GMT -4
It might be dull to just listen to people explain why they wanted to become a hero, but talking and communication was something of great essence, Nimue had realized this quite often lately. If no one did talk or dared to share what they thought or wanted to do, it would only become more difficult. Sharing it with the little club in the 1-S student body, she felt like they could learn how to support each other in decisions and hopefully dare to ask each other for advice or just a moment to vent when things did not work out. Different opinions and point of views could be helpful for further development. To give an example, she also felt like if you asked something you should be willing to participate, which was why Nimue started and would see who would join her and what the others would have to say in it. She smiled therefore kindly at Monty when he talked up and she was sure there were still things to discuss and everyone to develop and feel comfortable but to have colleagues you could depend on, that was the most important matter. His little introduction used a lot of fancy words and a lot of promises that she could see in him and that fit him well, she hoped that as his homeroom teacher she would be able to help shape him in the way that he would see fit. She thanked Beaumont for his explanation, "A lot to learn so to say, well always feel free to knock on my door to discuss what you would like to do so I can either help you or find someone who can." She turned to the next speaker, which was Jin.
She was glad he had given her info about the introduction class from Vega and it was maybe an interesting concept to do once at a training class but that was not really what she had in mind, for now she would just like him to introduce himself especially share his ideas to the rest of the group. They were all so different, who knew what great combinations that would shape. She nodded when Jin explained his quirk, it was interesting to learn, just like with all the others and she smiled at the little demonstration and his ideas of supporting himself with his tech, a smart plan. His goal reminded her of something she recently read and it might be good to tell Jin a little bit later that there was a company that UA had a connection with that would maybe be able to help him with tech like that as that seemed to be their aim as well. "Thank you, it's an interesting thing and definitely worth it to talk to the members of the robotics club or Pawmight, I am sure they can help you further access to what you already have in mind and develop it even better. I do believe we have some companies for internships and apprenticeship that work that way, maybe you can intern with them next year." and then she turned to Niji who continued.
She smiled at the girl who she found an interesting person and looked at her quirk with interest as well. Showing interest into everyone and not fake interest mind you, was another thing Nimue considered before today. Comfortable, communication and just feeling supported that was her aim for this class and she would see if that worked. She knew a little bit about Niji's past, not in the detail but it obviously had been in the school application, she felt her smile falter a bit when the girl looked so sad but she hoped she pulled through it and nodded when she explained her goal of why she wanted to become a hero. "That's a very noble idea Niji." She said softly before trying to get the little hype feeling back in the group, "Did you two already work together or discuss both your plans for gadgets?" She looked from Jin to Niji to wonder if they did work like that, as they had been together for a bit in 1-S.
Then she turned to Poemu and listened to her. She was a little worried with how Poemu started and hoped she had not made her feel uncomfortable. But she nodded and looked again interested when Poemu showed and explained her quirk, that was interesting, also for a medical person. "That's interesting Akechi-san, nice of you to think about what can be helpful, and I am sure you are right. I am very interested to see if you like it here, because I am sure you fit in." She hoped that it was what Poemu needed, because it felt like she did not feel like she belonged here at this point with all the introductions but thinking ahead and that you could be useful as a hero, wasn't that the same as having a concrete goal? The goal after all was the same.
Where she had heard a little bit about Colt from Monty, she looked a little surprised at what he shared and how he shared it. "I like how you think, we can probably figure something out for your grades and you will be fine." And having medical heroes was definitely in Nimue's biased opinion something they needed. She smiled to everyone and looked around, she had just asked a question to Niji and Jin, "So, I think that as support students its good to know each other and be able to talk to each other for advice or help because most of you all focus on other things. Do you guys have any questions for each other or for me?" An introduction class was boring and homeroom wasn't the longest class in the day but they would also have her for rescue classes, that might be more interesting.

Whoops. That might had been a bit too much. But she was being honest. She really was doing this for good reasons. She had lost someone. She had seen how the government treated the problem. And she had been in the spiral of depression for a while. But meeting Honey and Desmoshi, it gave her hope. Hope that something better can be done. She knew it may had sounded like a generic answer, even taking in Pomeu's comment in stride. But she knew that in her heart this was the reason she wanted to be a hero.
Niji listened to the other students as they talked about what their plans were and the reason they became heroes. Even with trying to heal from the past, it still hurt like a fresh wound that hasn't closed. Her friends were a part of her and her father was the standing stone she depended on. But she knew she needed to move forward, especially in this world of heroes. On top of that, she still had a board of benefactors to get through. So she put on a brave face and prepared for Nimue's response.
"I never thought of that, sensei," Niji said with a confused look. "Jin and I once worked on a project together to redirect Toma-sensei's energy, but it has been a while since we built something together." Speaking of a project, Niji had a plan in the works that allow users to fight in a new way. It still needed some things in order to work, but she felt she was getting close to a breakthrough. And thanks to Harhuui-senpai, she was one step away from getting them. Maybe the benefactors would love it... hopefully. "So, Jin," she said turning to him, "have you built anything lately? I know we haven't talked a lot due to busy schedules."

Amicable and honorable individuals....but the one with the least confidence in themselves was the girl with tendrils tinted silver, Poemu. No one else really needed encouragement, they all had themselves together more or lace based on his observations...but that girl, the living flash drive? It was clear as the sky above that she needed something to hold on to, anything. That's how he found a bit of a kindred spirit in her...but he offered a nod toward Nimue. Which, even though it was so hard to smile, he managed it through the strength he found within his teacher and more importantly, the bit that remained within himself.
[break][break]
"Thank you...I'll keep that in mind." This appeared to be the more...socialize and what not segment. Honestly, he didn't feel like talking to Colt, why should he? The boy wanted to prove he didn't need him, So be it, their path together split into the fork in a road of destiny...everything would be okay....
[break][break]
...one day.
[break][break]
For those who didn't need him, he needn't waste precious time, this much was true. Turning to rest his icy gaze upon Poemu, he lowered his head and spoke with a gentle and calm air about his tone. "Bad would be wanting to become a hero for the sake of popularity, your reason may not seem ideal at the moment, but it will change. I, for one am glad you decided to join U.A and work toward becoming a pro hero. You'll be a valuable member of the team, I know you will and I look forward to all you bring to the table." Straightening up his posture, although his smile was a bit empty, there was an air of confidence about it.
[break][break]
Yes, without a doubt, Beaumont definitely believed in all of his classmates. Looking over everyone, he spoke once more, "All of you, I know you're going to do everything within your abilities to help all of those who count on us for a brighter future." Even Colt, as long as he continued wanting to do good things...he was going to be a great medical hero as long as he didn't give up on himself. Despite his own betrayal, logic wouldn't allow him to deny the positive impact that boy could have.
