Finally connecting and bonding with his dorm neighbors and the best thing he could do to focus on himself more is to move to the next floor up. Honestly, he was going to miss being able to just have the option to be on the same floor as two people who were proving to be good friends. This had to be done for his own sake though...he could always go down a floor and visit them all the same. At least being in his own room was going to mean that he could actually focus more on himself, decorate the dorm even more with his pieces...Colt needed his space and Beaumont needed his own as well.

After all, he could use the extra room for mannequins and laying out designs as well as sewing. All along, ever since they got here...the blond had been in his way of letting those tiny wings spread. Plus...it seemed like he was only dragged along to places just to be told hey I can do stuff on my own...like to rub it in his face how much he wasn't needed. Or just needed to constantly prove it...he didn't know, but it was time to keep moving forward and take the lessons from the past and try to leave the pain behind him. What was nice is he'd been bonding with his friends, namely William and Fion. Though he considered Desmoshi a friend, he'd only really see him at events where the guy was trying to bring the community together in one way or another.

There wasn't anything wrong with it...but they just didn't hang out in the same way the other two did, but he absolutely respected and applauded how hard Desmoshi worked, same with Niji. They were such ambitious people and he was so glad that he'd been able to meet them! Everyone, he couldn't wait to meet and make more friends along the way...hopefully things would keep going in a good direction. Stretching a bit, all of that moving to dorm room 56 was a bit rough...but that was fine at least now was just getting everything unpacked and situated. There was a point of time where he may have left a note for Colt...but the boy's heart had grown so distant that his child hood friend felt like an acquaintance.

Well, it was better to keep his mind busy, see if maybe he could figure out some new techniques to make his drawings look better. Lighting and shading was a bit of a tricky thing for him, so maybe that's what he'd wrap his mind around today? The boy developed an odd collection of photos of random items in different lighting, but he didn't have anything of people in lighting and it always felt a little awkward asking someone for photos. Ugh...look how well that went for his approach with Melody? Poor thing broke her concentration and got soaked, he still felt terrible about that!

Trying to do selfies was weird and setting a timer on a camera was a lot of trial and error which meant less time to do things like study...it just...he was gonna have to bite the bullet and ask someone. Sitting at a table, his gaze fell from his phone...and...plop, right onto the table he'd been sitting at with a soft groan. Socializing got easier, but it didn't mean super simple for things like asking for a model to aid in photography. It sounded like a pick up line he'd expect in Wyvern Orb or something.... "I need heeeeeelllllp....hooooow....aaaaaaaaa" Wiggling his phone, his brain was just fried from all the moving...what a pain in the buuuuuuuuutttttttttttttttttttt!

Maybe he should just contact Fion or William...maybe Amare...or uh Desmoshi? First he'd have to figure out how to word it without making things seem weird...he already saw what happened when Fion made things weird with someone....

just embrace the fall HAVING DETENTION ON A GORGEOUS DAY like this was borderline criminal. Just Kenji, an empty classroom, and a textbook. Bo-ring! He couldn’t even remember what mischief had brought him here—but some mouth-breathing DC tightwad had caught him doing something, like always, written him up, and a few days later Kenji got his summons to detention. Whatever it was… Kenji was sure that it had been something not-actually-bad. Like… climbing the awning over the main entrance? Taking other classmates shoes and sticking them to the walls of the foyer?
No one could prove that Kenji had used his quirk to conduct such mischief. And no one got hurt. But here he was, wasting away indoors while the outer world was unfolding in such sunshine and splendor.
Borderline criminal.
Before long, though, the long-arm of the clock made its laborious trek to the top of the hour, the bell sounded, and he was free! Kenji all-but-threw his book into his bag, bidding the poor staffer who’d been tasked with supervising detention “adieu!” and then he charged out of the classroom. Any shouts of “walk in the hallways!” were lost to the wind.
The redhead vaulted down the stairs, grinning wildly. He went with such momentum that he shoulder-checked the wall at the landing, and nearly stumbled at the bottom of the stairs. But he managed to scramble to his feet and burst through the door.
Thankfully, no one stood outside of the door, or else they would’ve received the door with their nose. Ow.
The teen didn’t stop his haphazard escape until he made it to the trees at the edge of the grounds. The trees were interspersed with tables. Some were unoccupied, others housed individuals or groups. Kenji paid them no mind.
He charged right past a forlorn looking blond boy, removing his messenger bag and throwing it artlessly towards the trunk of the nearest tree. Finally. The moment he’d been waiting for all day. The teen grasped for the lowest branch. And, with minimal scrabbling, was able to hook his leg around the branch and trunk, to hoist himself up.
In the process, he dropped his hat. There was plenty of time between then and dinner, as far as Kenji knew. Until then… Kenji was going to conquer this massive tree. He straddled the branch, feet dangling over either side as he looked towards the canopy. Light filtered through the leaves, illuminating splotches of his ginger hair like fire-on-water.
After momentary consideration, Kenji saw his route—so he tucked his legs up towards his chest, planting his feet upon the branch below him. Then, cautiously, he stood. He summoned a pink sticky-disc near his right hand, his hazel-eyed gaze still searching higher.
“Watch them tell me I can’t climb trees, either,” he muttered, tossing his bangs from his eyes with a twitch of his head. There was a lot you weren’t supposed to do at a hero school. Like, even worse than a normal school. Ugh.
Kenji was so fixated on climbing the tree, or strategizing about climbing it, that he hadn’t noticed the blonde with the camera, occupying the picnic table below. The redhead was only just above him. His shoes were probably at the eye-level of the other boy.

Lightly tapping his phone against the table in thought as the boy with what he felt was the most disgusting quirk in U.A kept himself face planted. What in the world should he do?! William or Fion seemed like the right options of hey, can you help me with my photography project?...oh wait. That's all he had to do! Wow...that wasn't so complicated, was it?!

Lifting his head slightly, he looked at the blackened screen of his phone and noticed something in the reflection...? Okay so it looks like his project was gonna slide right onto the back burner for now. Was this a student or someone who didn't belong on campus, somehow sliding under the radar? Narrowing his eyes slightly in thought, he was checking right into analyze and strategize mode real quick. Adjusting his phone, the reflection revealed to him that yuuuup, someone was dangling their feet above him!

Quickly grabbing his camera and phone, he slid under the picnic table for cover and peeked up looking up between the opening of the table and bench of his make shift fort, "Excuse me, but what are you doing?" Honestly, he wasn't sure what this person's motive was at all or even who they were! Hell, he hardly knew anyone on campus aside from Colt, Desmoshi, William and Fion as people who were actually friends with him. Well...aside from Nimue and maybe Shinra...but almost everyone was either a friendly acquaintance or total stranger. With a soft sigh ending in a bit of a pout, he furrowed his brows and hoped this student wasn't someone who randomly felt like picking a fight with him.

Maybe the riots were putting him on edge a bit much? Yeeeeaaaaaah probably...especially since one of those goons apparently had it out for Desmoshi for, what he felt, was no good reason...

just embrace the fall A VOICE PULLED AT KENJI'S ATTENTION, FROM BELOW. And the teen looked ground-wards. There was no one sitting at the table. But there was someone crouched underneath the table. What the fuck?
“Uh,” the redhead intoned, “I’m… climbing… a tree?”
He didn’t sound too sure of this proclamation. Kenji ran a head over his hair, as if to fix his hat, only to find there to be no hat atop his head.
“Shit! My hat!”
Kenji clapped a hand to the top of his head, glancing ground-ward. There! Right at the foot of the tree, where he’d shimmied up the trunk. He couldn’t climb the tree without his hat! What if someone took it?!
Still on the lowest branch, the teen bent at the knees and leapt, landing on the ground with a soft whoomph. He remained crouched for a moment, then plucked-up his hat and righted himself. Kenji took the time to dust-off his hat, and dust-off the legs of his cargo shorts, before glancing up towards the canopy of the tree again.
His hat would probably just fall off of his head, knowing his luck. So Kenji tucked his at in his back pocket, running a hand through his bangs.
The diminutive redhead looked again towards the denizen of the picnic table, who seemed to be grasping a camera for dear life.
“What are you doing?” the redhead returned the question, his hawk-like eyes fastening onto the really nice camera. Like, the kind of cameras that only photographers had, that were worth like as much a video-game console (or more).
“You’re no some kind of paparazzi, are you?” Kenji persisted. The dude had a young face, but was an absolute fucking giant (yes, Kenji could tell this even though the other boy was crouched beneath a table—it was some sort of E.S.P specific to short people), so… it made it difficult to discern the blonde’s age.
The redhead didn’t seem too concerned by the answer that followed for, as soon as he uttered the question, Kenji returned to hoisting himself up into the tree. This time, he hung upside down by his knees and hands, awaiting the other boy’s response, “Your camera’s super nice. Only seen cameras like that with the press.”
Even if the kid wasn’t with the press, it was a good conversation starter, regardless. Kenji pulled himself the rest of the way onto the branch, pumping his legs casually forward-and-back.

Was this some sort of clever distraction to try and catch him off guard?! Hahaaaa, not today, Satan! ...but what if he actually lost a hat? A slight frown crossed his lips and his eyes quickly darted about to try and find the...oh there it was...he really did lose a hat. Oh no...that sucked, he would be bummed if there was something impo--oh hoooo but what if it was a decoy?!

Slowly blinking like a cat trying to sort out how to attack the evil red dot, on high alert at the moment. Part of him really wanted to help this guy get his hat just because that was the right thing to do, but he was honestly kind of rattled. Maybe it was from the exhibitions where an upperclassmen used him as a landing pad and Red Horn turning him into a skipping stone? Probably...that and getting caught up in the riots...that day felt like it really messed him up more than he cared to admit. Geeze...he needed to take a breath and chill out...

More so when...he was really just wanting to get his hat back.

A twinge of guilt rang in his heart, more so when the question got flipped back at him. "W-what...I...um..." Talking to new people when he was shaken up made things a little...challenging. Yet he was definitely thrown for a loop when the tree climber brought up being a paparazzi! "No...I'm really not..." Looking increasingly confused, he watched the nimble spitfire hang upside from the tree.

..huh...with the positioning of the sun and that angle...he never would have considered asking anyone to help him capture that on camera for his lighting references!

Snapping away from his thoughts, he watched him climb back up to his branch, claiming it as his own once more. Beaumont, in this moment, he was like a feral kitten hanging out in a little safe hiding spot. One that was finally ready to approach the stranger! The blonde boy chirped up with a slight smile and soft blush, "Th-thank you...my parents got it as an early birthday gift for me when I told them I was trying different art mediums!" Carefully with a surprising amount of flexibility, he slunk out his hiding spot and stood up to his full height while the smile across his lips seemed to hint off he was a little more at ease. "I...was actually about to contact one of my friends to see if they could help when you snuck up on me..."

Rolling his arms into a slight shrug, he tilted his head and let out a soft laugh with some nervous undertones, "Unless you'd like to be my model for today? I promise it's nothing weird." Looking up at the student he'd never met...he figured it wouldn't hurt to ask! But he let out a little gasp and cradled the camera against himself with one arm and held the other up for a handshake, "Oh, by the way, I'm Beaumont Favager of class 1-S, it's nice to meet you!" A little late, but he figured it would be worth it to try and offer a proper introduction.

just embrace the fall OO, BEING PUT ON THE SPOT made the other kid pause. Wasn’t expecting that, was he? The redhead smiled a little impishly as the other boy floundered, only managing to protest that he wasn’t paparazzi.
“That’s exactly what paparazzi would say,” Kenji retorted, clearly enjoying this opportunity to banter. The look of smug delight lingered only until the other boy confessed that the camera had been a birthday gift from his parents. And then his expression went shrewd again. A rich kid with a taste for art, huh? Or at least… a kid with parents who spent money on things like cameras for birthday presents. Must be rough. But someone had to do it.
Finally, the other boy emerged from his refuge, and holy shit biscuits, that guy was fucking gigantic. Kenji hardly counted mutants in his metric for “tall” because mutants were almost always huge or tiny with little in-between. This guy didn’t seem mutated, and goddamn, he could’ve been some Yankee basketball player, if his stature was anything to go by.
Kenji gaped a little. Some people had all the luck—or, erm, height. Totally unfair.
The redhead itched his cheek as the other boy spoke, then pushed a hand into his hair again.
“My bad,” the teen said simply, assuming that he’d done some sort of disservice by sneaking-up on the other boy. Perhaps it was a learned reflex from being in trouble so often?
Then the other boy tilted his chin up, looking at Kenji directly as he spoke. The redhead leaned back a little, his eyes thinning slightly.
“Aren’t models supposed to be, like… girls? And tall?” Kenji said skeptically, his hand falling to his side. God, the guy was tall enough to shake Kenji’s hand from the ground, while Kenji was still in the tree. Ugh. Still, the redhead extended his own hand, clasping it to the other teen’s. Beaumont Favager, 1-S. That explained why Kenji didn’t know him. He was a Support kid.
“Kenji Murano, 1-A,” the teen replied, “It’s a pleasure.”
Having exchanged a handshake, the teen leaned back again, relishing the feeling of a higher vantage point.
“I uh… guess I could be your model, if uh… you don’t mind a short dude?” Kenji remarked, redacting his previous skepticism with a winsome smile. Though he, of course, followed-up with an earnest, “Whatcha need photos for, though?”
It actually, admittedly, sounded kind-of fun? As long as he didn’t have to do anything weird…

Was he a celebrity and super paranoid about that for some reason or another? It felt rude to ask, so he just figured it would be best to move on. Hey, he even kind of apologized for sneaking up on him...so that was nice. "It's okay...it happens.." and it's not like he could just pour his heart out about why...it wasn't like he was there to get why things made him so jumpy at times. Or you know, far more on guard during others...maybe if they actually became friends.

It was easy to confide in William since, well...he was the first person to listen to him during the riots and actually support his decision rather than ignore his rescue efforts. Trying to save those people all alone would have been complete and utter hell. Letting out a soft sigh, he tried his best to keep himself more warm and welcoming than usual. Right now, he didn't have a reason to clam up and become like some sort of numb, steel husk to guard himself. Oh but when he thought that only women and tall people where the only ones who could be models? A little bemused scoff escaped him after the handshake and he placed his hand over his mouth as a stifled chuckle escaped him for a moment.

"Murano-kun, a short dude like you will be a perfectly fine model." Huh...but why did the name Kenji seem familiar...? Eh, it was unlikely that he even knew or met this boy, let alone heard of him since he was such a social recluse. Hardly being on the chat for U.A, he wasn't too familiar with anyone and he didn't fully recall talking to a Kenji in there? Maybe someone mentioned a Kenji there...pretty sure someone must have brought it up for the name to come off as so familiar!

Was there a chance that he was some unsung celebrity and he hadn't put the pieces together yet? Who knows, he wasn't going to start treating him any differently all the same. "Well...for today, I made it a goal to collect photos for different examples of lighting so I can have a collection of references. Still life is easy to capture, so that went by pretty quick, but for people and action shots with different angles light casts shadows...not so much..." Moving his free hand up, behind his head before looking off to the side...he seemed a little nervous.

"I was trying to think of ways I could collect these photos on my own, but setting up a tripod and trying to get the angles just right takes a lot of time. As the day goes on, the sun shifts along the sky...so you actually have a lot of openings and opportunities to capture different types of lighting...even by the hour..." Turning his gaze back up toward his acquaintance, he brightened up his smile a bit, "...but I'd also like to get some night photos during our summer break. I'll just stick to still life for those, though, I truly don't expect someone to help me with that in the evening. However, at the end of this project, I was hoping to make a mural sort of painting where it has the different times of day, transitioning into various phases of the moon with the best lighting for each. Since the planet revolves around the sun, my theory is that the lighting will be similar to the day time, except darker, where there's a prime time for just the right shot. Of course, seasons certainly come into play too, but um..."

Blushing a bit, he couldn't help but realize he'd gone on a rambling spree over something to a fresh face of an acquaintance! Shrugging slightly with a nervous chuckle, he couldn't help but offer his next set of words in an apologetic fashion, "A-ah...erm...s-sorry...I didn't mean to ramble...it seems I get a little carried away at times..."

just embrace the fall THE TEEN'S RETORT WAS MET by a stifled laugh. For a moment, Kenji’s expression was vaguely confused. Was something he said funny? He wasn’t trying to be funny, in that moment. But when Beaumont insisted that a “short dude” like him would be okay, the redhead’s confusion dissipated, replaced by enthusiasm.
“Ah, cool! Lemme hop down again!” Kenji agreed eagerly. And, just as before, he leapt to the ground. The jump seemed less severe, though, since he jumped from a seated position rather than a standing one.
God, that guy’s height was even more unfair from the ground, though. He was an entire head taller than Kenji. Uuugghhh.
“’Kenji’ is fine, tough,” the redhead insisted, “Calling me ‘Murano’ makes me feel like I’m in trouble for something.”
Hopefully Beaumont had something other than “Favager” to go by because friiiiick that name was going to be impossible to pronounce. Reflexively, Kenji dusted-off his shorts again, even if the landing had been clean. He was eager to hear what kind of photoshoot the blonde boy was looking for, but… what he was met with, was a wall of text. His explanation was laden with art terms that went right over the little overactive redhead’s head. Something about light and multiple subjects.
Kenji played the part of the dutiful listener well, but his grin faltered to something more flagrantly befuddled, brow scrunched, lips pursed. Precisely… how big of a commitment was this photo opp? Summer break? That was at the end of the month! And Beaumont wanted to make a mural of photos that suggested the time of day… so that meant… lots of photos.
Finally, his monologue tapered-off, and was hastily concluded with an apology.
“Nah, nah, it’s cool, I think I get it!” Kenji announced, stepping onto the seating-portion of the bench. There, now he had a few inches on the boy before him.
“So you wanna take, like, a lot of pictures of a lot of different people and things, at different times of the day…” Kenji summarized, pinching the bridge of his nose as he tried to put it into cohesive sentences. But upon finishing his summary, Kenji released the bridge of his nose, his face alighting with enthusiasm, “Right? I’m super game! Let’s do this, F-Fabuja-san.”
Goddamn these foreign-ass names with v’s, and r’s in weird places. Hard as fuck to say. But Kenji wouldn’t dwell on it for too long! The redhead stepped onto the table portion of the picnic table, flexing nonexistent muscles by bending his arms towards his head.
“Just tell me where to go and what to do!”

Usually, random encounters of the human kind weren't what he expected such enthusiasm, especially toward he, himself? Well, except Colt...but that changed over the years and ended in being pushed away. Sometimes it was a little discouraging to let people in and be close again...but Nakahara-sensei helped him realize that it was okay. Now he was actually making friends with people he considered keeping at an arm's length, but gave them a chance since he saw potential in their hearts for an abundance of good things for their futures. People who, together, would manage to build each other up and they'd all be better for it!

Maybe he needed an abundance of boundless energy like this guy had in the mix? Who knew...he wasn't really able to gauge the redhead who wanted to be called Kenji. Errr...especially since it seemed like he got in trouble a lot from his reasoning....hm...that was causing a cog in his memory to click forward. Oh well...hopefully it's nothing too terrible, possibly even be someone who at the very least stops him from getting in trouble? "Huh...okay." The blonde was confident he could at the very least call him Kenji, though...that was a fair request!

What was nice is that he listened, he even made the effort to make sure he understood what he rambled about, actually coming off as excited about helping in anyway he could too. Someone like him...couldn't be so bad, even if he possibly stirred up trouble for who knows what reason, he deserved some sort of chance. Beaumont brushed his hand through those wheat colored locks with a gentle smile, "You are? Thank you, Kenji...I appreciate even just a little bit of help with this." Oh geeze and he couldn't help but laugh softly as his new acquaintance scampered on up to conquer his previous little hiding place.

The result was actually...wow, not bad to start off! "This is actually a good start! Hold that pose for one moment..." Fiddling about with the settings on his camera and taking the cap off of the lens, he figured making the shutter speed go faster would help make things go smoothly...or you know, a liiiiiittle bit more smooth! Quite frankly, this guy seemed to be on the move a lot, so he didn't want to ask him to hold poses for too long.

At least he practiced and tested the different shutter speeds and duration with still life so that he could have the proper pacing while moving. After looking over the screen real quick on his camera, he brought the camera up and after a soft click, it triggered the shutter to flutter rapidly as he made his way around the bench as though he was calmly navigating around the battlefield. A steady hand for steady shots the boy finished quite literally in full circle before lowering the camera, "Most of these turned out really good! Are you sure you've never done modeling before, Kenji...?" There was a curiously calm air about him as he looked up toward his helper.

Releasing the camera he held up his hand toward Kenji, with his palm facing upward as though he was a prince reaching up toward some princess hanging out in her tower, needing help down. "By the way, did you want me to carry your bag while we walk around? That way it's easier for you to go around and you won't have to worry about someone stealing your stuff?" Whether or not the boy wanted his help or just to help himself down, he didn't mind, mostly wanted to make sure he knew a helping hand to get back down was there. Just like his offer to carry his stuff, it was merely an option.

Though it just sort of dawned on him... "You know, when I think about it, I don't think I have to do much direction...we could just hang out and I'll take photos along the way, would that be alright?" In a way, he felt like he was pretty boring company...so hopefully he wouldn't be opposed. If not, he'd bounce from Plan: Whatever This Is back to Plan: Ask a Friend. "Oh um...and you can call me Beaumont, some of my friends just call me Monty, though...so whichever is most comfortable for you, Kenji..." It seemed like he was having a little trouble with his name earlier, so if they were going to hang out, poor guy might as well have multiple choice options to call him by.

just embrace the fall SOMEONE WHO WANTED HIS HELP!! Kenji was more than happy to oblige, too. And his cheesy flex earned accolades from Beaumont, which made Kenji’s fake-intense expression break into a grin. His… flex was good? He was just being a goofball. The redhead did his best to hold his pose as Beaumont fussed with camera, but his gaze trained downwards.
Was this guy for real? He really like Kenji’s pose? Beaumont brought the viewfinder to his eye and click. Kenji’s arms started to drop a bit, but Beaumont was still circling. The teen followed him with his eyes, and when he realized that the photographer wasn’t finished yet, Kenji resumed his flexing. Click… click… click…
When Monty finally lowered the camera, and asked Kenji if he’d modeled before, the redhead rubbed the back of his neck, laughing modestly.
“Pff, me?” he countered incredulously, “Neverrrr.”
Was his pose really that good? Wow. The compliment left a warmth in the teen’s chest. With so many of his peers, and even some teachers, meeting him with exasperation, it felt good to have someone just… be cool with him. He was so lost in his own thoughts of “wow, this is cool”, that he didn’t even think twice about using the other boy’s hand to steady himself before jumping- artlessly- to the ground. Jump to the bench. Jump to the ground. Lots of jumping today.
“Thanks,” the redhead chirped, to both the compliment and the assistance. He twitched his head, trying to shake the bangs from his eyes.
Again, Beaumont was insistent upon helping, asking if he could carry Kenji’s bag as they walked around. The redhead quirked an eyebrow, peering up at the taller boy with shrewd, hazel eyes.
“No one’s gonna steal my bag here,” Kenji assured the other kid, “I can carry it just fine.”
To demonstrate, he retrieved the bag that had been all-but-pitched at the trunk of the tree and left unceremoniously rumpled upon itself, draping it over his shoulder. The bag was decently empty, anyways, besides one textbook, one composition book, a few pencils, and his phone.
“And if they try… I’ll fight ‘em.”
He was only partially kidding.
Beaumont seemed to be working his way through a potential process—maybe they could hangout, and he’d just periodically take pictures of Kenji.
“Oh… sure!” Kenji agreed brightly. He’d never been the focus of a photoshoot in any respect, before, so… well, he hoped he didn’t mess-up when it came to “being photogenic while also hanging-out”.
“Where should we hangout… Monty?” Kenji asked the photographer, bouncing on the balls of his feet.
“Here? Take a walk?”

Oh, he'd never aided anyone as a model? "Perhaps you're just a natural, then?" He couldn't help but chuckle softly, it's like this guy's boundless energy was a bit infectious. In a way, he couldn't help but relish in moments like these since his life hadn't exactly been the most pleasant when he reflected on it. So many years, he spent just more or less existing among the living, going along on autopilot. How long had it been since he felt as alive?

Too long...he couldn't help but feel a sense of joy in finally learning to live and find a sense of happiness in life. There was finally more things to look forward to, stumbling upon more moments like these as his journey carried on through his chosen path. It was a bit strange when it dawned upon the blonde that he really didn't have much of this with Colt. Always fearing for his safety, protecting the boy from himself like a dedicated knight...but he was done with those days. This was best seen as an opportunity, one he would try to do his very best with.
Checking back into the here and now, he felt the warmth of his touch upon his hand and couldn't help but keep up that serene smile gracing his features. As if to share a short lived dance that lasted for only a moment, the princely blonde gently grasped upon the energetic boy's hand whilst doing what he could to help guide him down without falling. "It's my pleasure, Kenji." Bowing his head for a moment with those words, bringing his released hand to gently rest it over his heart while watching the boy gather his bag and deny his help. "Um...alright, then...if you insist."

...and if someone tried to steal it, he'd fight them. Oh boy, that caused his smile to wilt just a bit as he expressed a twinge of concern, "Oh..um...please don't..." Fion already stirred up enough trouble in that department! Associating with more people just fighting others could be pretty stressful...but he put up with it for his friends since they meant so much to him. Even though Fion's Carrot Cake level shenanigans got to him at times, he backed himself up with pretty solid reasons, but ughhhhhh...why did people dismiss the power of communication?!

Eh...well at least Kenji didn't seem opposed to hanging out with him. Beaumont couldn't help but feel like a boring person to be around since at times, he almost felt like a blank slate compared to all the colorful people around him, folks who actually lived their lives in stride. Sliding his hand up from his chest to his cheek, thoughtfully leaning against his palm while furrowing his brows polished off with a damn near puppy dog pout. "I...um...I don't get out too much, I'm quite the shut in so I was hoping you might have some ideas since you seem so out going...hn..."

Trying to figure something out, the blonde boy lightly tapped his cheek and looked around, as though he was trying to figure out this foreign land called U.A Campus. "...do we have a garden around here?" Resting his icy blue gaze upon the amber eyed boy, he figured that would be a nice place to be. Somewhere among the flowers...those would make some lovely photos and he found himself to be rather fond of plant life. The unfortunate thing is that he couldn't properly care for them, which was a shame since it would be nice to have a little plant to keep him company in his room.

just embrace the fall JUST WHEN ONE WOULD ANTICIPATE a shortage of praise, Monty redoubled his efforts, insisting that Kenji was a natural, if he had no modeling experience. The remark brought a pink tint to the redhead’s ears. Kenji itched at his head, only managing to shake his head—there was no way he was a natural model. Natural show-off, maybe.
And god, didn’t something about this guy just seem like it was straight from a high-fantasy? Probably a mixture of the blond-hair, blue-eyes combination but… the graceful way he smiled when he helped Kenji down was like… that one elven priestess in that ancient-ass fantasy film that Kenji had watched from the early 2000’s. What a weird thing to compare another dude to.
The formal way of speaking did nothing to dispel this mental-image of Kenji’s. Elven princess boy, Beaumont. From Europe or something. Somehow, the redhead managed to keep the insight to himself, though.
Of course, when the other boy seemed taken aback by Kenji’s threat to fight the imagined thieves that’d take his bag, the imp grinned toothily and rose one fist while the other slung one strap of the school bag over his shoulder.
“I gotta… to defend the honor of me and my bag,” Kenji insisted, “It’s the rules.” He was in good enough spirits, having been freed from detention, that he couldn’t maintain his faux-serious façade for long. He snickered, lowering his fist, gesturing for Monty to follow, “No one’s gonna steal my bag, dude. It’s a school for heroes.”
And there really wasn’t anything worth stealing in Kenji’s bag, either.
With his bag slung over his shoulder, Kenji would wait for Monty to begin to walk before the two would walk side-by-side through the grass. For someone who knew that they wanted to take more pictures, he certainly didn't have an abundance of ideas regarding where to hangout and take them…
"I can only really tell you where the best trees for climbing are," Kenji confessed, as Monty insisted that the redhead would know good places to hangout due to his outgoingness, "Or, like… the best routes to climb things that shouldn't be climbed…" Namely walls and buildings. That was a story for another day, though.
It was then that Monty suggested a garden. The garden. Did U.A. have one? Kenji tipped his head back, humming ponderously. Gardens weren't really his thing. There was lots of standing and staring and not touching stuff. Too many snappable stems. It wasn't really a place for a rambunctious youth like Kenji.
"Uh…" Kenji trailed. At the back of his mind, he recalled a couple of 1-A girls discussing eating their lunches in the rose garden. And through all of his trysts around campus, the only place he could really remember copious amounts of flowers was over by the library.
"I think... by the library?" Kenji mused aloud, clearly uncertain in his response. He'd keep his qualms about the garden to himself. Beaumont was, after all, the artist.

Although he held some reservations like a Karen holds grudges against employees, it was actually pretty amusing to hear him speak of defending the honor of his precious bag. Well, he wasn't in the mood to talk about his theories regarding the corrupt Discipline Committee...didn't need someone thinking he was nuts. Thanks to that one guy, he had his reservations against the types of people lingering through the school. After all, insulting and talking down on others was wrong and he would stand by that! Heroes should have much better attitudes, be good role models not...ugh...legal loop hole bullies.

"A hero school...ummm...right, yes, silly me...it slipped my mind for a second..." Laughing softly as though trying to sell that statement to anyone willing to buy it. There were some people who didn't follow the rules and it isn't like he was allowed to do anything about it. At least he had a teacher he could trust and reach out to in times of need to report suspicious activity to, right? Oh well...he'd just handle his own problems and evaluate the situation on what to do as they come, as much as he liked being two steps ahead at the very least.

He followed along when he noticed his prompting to do so, though! Doing what he could to keep up, he slowly looked over and found himself getting a little worried. Oh boy...maaaaaaaybe he was getting mixed up in the wrong crowd with Kenji...? This guy over here seemed to know about rule breaking areas which was a bit concerning. Furrowing his brows with a nervous smile, he sputtered out another nervous chuckle, okay...calm down here Beaumont...maybe he just knew a lot about the area? There was no evidence to jump to conclusions and he shouldn't cast such a harsh judgement on someone without even getting to know them, right?

Wouldn't be very heroic of him to make assumptions about someone in a hero school being an avid rule breaker, right? Wait...he knew where to go for climbing trees and climbing stuff that shouldn't be climbed...but didn't know if the school had a garden or not? Er...he didn't sound certain when he offered an answer called the library...oooh boy. Well, Kenji was making a genuine effort to help him out, so it was worth trying to see this moment through! "Really? Well um...if we can't find anything near the library...I...I'm sure I can think of something else..."

Fiddling a bit with the camera nervously, he was a far better tactician when it came to combat...but even that, he was wondering about how mediocre he could be. The exhibition match against Chimera could have gone better if he could have figured out some sort of easier to understand form of silent communication. It felt like his fault that they had such a rough start and ugh...he didn't even want to think about the class with Redhorn. BUT HE DID ANYWAY since his brain felt like now was a great time to remind him, it felt like people would toss him to the side when they were done. Reaching out to Burabura afterward felt like a mistake since all he got was silence, he...played his part and that was that....maybe he should just accept that?

If people were done with him when the job was over, the day was saved...he'd feel like a recyclable container, being reused and putting himself to good use time and time again. "Sooooooo...trees, you seem to like them...do you have a favorite kind of tree?" ...his social skills could use some serious work, talking about trees... "...or a um...favorite tree on campus...?" Why in the would couldn't he come up with normal people things to talk about? Oh right, because he was a social recluse for most of his life up until attending this school...doi.

just embrace the fall THE GREAT IRONY OF BEAUMONT'S NERVOUSNESS was that the guy he had reservations over was an entire head shorter than him. Yes, Kenji was trouble, but—he looked like the slightest gust of wind could pick him up and blow him away. It was like a kitten hissing and arching its back at a dog twenty-times its size. Totally ineffectual.
Anxiety was rarely a reasonable beast, though. And Kenji was too airheaded to take notice of the other boy’s discomfort. Their photo-shoot was of greater interest to the teen.
Soon enough, they arrived at the main school building, skirting around the side towards the library and teacher parking lot.
“This way,” Kenji insisted, with another “come hither” flap of his hand. The path went from pavement to crushed granite beneath their feet, circling the edge of the library towards the often-ignored back-side. Kenji would pause at the edge of the building, waiting for Monty to catch-up with him.
As Beaumont caught-up, the garden that Kenji had suspected of being there came into view. Crushed granite footpath gave way to grass, which serpentined its way past amoeba-esque plots of soil. From each plot, an array of flowers bloomed, painting the area in splashes of color. There was a single cherry tree, and a singular bench, both of which seemed secondary to the splendor around them.
“Ah, good,” Kenji breathed, putting his hands upon his hips, “I was right—there is a garden here!”
He turned to Monty, looking pleased with his shrewd recollection of the school’s layout.
“Is this the kind of garden you were thinking of?”
If not, there might have been… one more garden, somewhere? But Kenji was vague on the location of that particular garden.
The redhead’s bangs were falling into his eyes again, so Kenji twitched his head to get them free.
“Favorite tree…?” Kenji mused, in response to the other boy’s question. Hm… Kenji rubbed his chin, tilting his head downward in contemplation.
“I like big trees,” Kenji finally decided, “The bigger the tree is, the more of a test of courage it is to climb!” He made this declaration with a hammy point of his index finger into the air.
“And the biggest trees are at the edge of campus.”
There! An honest answer to an honest question. Beaumont’s questions were kind-of weird, but it pleased Kenji to answer them. He felt like the tree-climbing expert, or something of the sort. Professor Kenji, Doctor of Tree Science. Idly, the teen wondered if he could coerce the nervous blonde into calling him “Professor”.

Obediently following like a nervous dog that was cautious of the outside world after living indoors for so long, he still tried to maintain a sense of calm which was a little challenging. What was he thinking, asking some random student he didn't even know to help him out! The more he thought about it, the more he couldn't help but wonder how awkward this may have been to most. Aaaaa trying to shake those negative thoughts, they made it to their destination and he looked around in awe. Everything was just...beautiful...the way these flowers complimented one another. Something about it caused him to feel his nerves finding solace in the splendor of nature.

A lot of his life was just fixate on a few things that revolved around one person, almost every moment was proving to him that he had a lot of catching up to do. Giving a little nod to quietly affirm that it was proooooooooooobably the garden he was looking for. Huh...but...when Kenji answered his I'm terrible with people, but I'm trying brand of question, it was kind of embarrassing at how terrible he was at this sort of thing. Oh well, all he could do was try! Plus, it didn't seem like Kenji was looking down upon him for not coming up with a better conversation topic.

A lighthearted laugh managed to sneak out of him, the tall blonde had a serene smile across his lips as he felt like maybe it was okay to be at ease with him, this Kenji Murano boy. "I...see...but um...why do you feel as though you need to test your courage, Kenji?" Oh...huh...did he really want to know the answer to this? Yeeeaaah...though part of him worried that he might regret it later. So without even really thinking, he drifted about toward the flowers, his body telling him to keep his mind and hands busy. Plus, he really wanted to make something in his mind a reality.

Carefully, he plucked away at the flora, gathering a few and not getting too greedy in the process just before taking a seat beneath the cherry tree. Calmly and quietly, he would not only listen to the tree loving red head, but also start weaving the flowers together.
