Why were commoners like this? No, not just commoners. People in general. Yuhiko could not understand. This was UA! This was a school for heroes in-training! He was doing nothing more than reprimanding someone for exhibiting behavior ill-suited of a hero! So why was it that Yuhiko of all people was the one being verbally attacked here? Where was the logic in that? Were the students here really this stupid? Did they simply not care? If Yuhiko could facepalm mentally as he thought to himself, he most certainly would have.
If I was not here hearing this folly myself, I would have never believed anyone could be this foolish. It's so pathetic it's almost humorous.
So let's break down this boy's argument piece by piece. First, there was apparently no damage to the door. None. So what?! That still did not make kicking a door down right! Would it be okay to bring a gun and fire it blindly into a crowd just because the bullets didn't hit anyone? This was nothing less than sheer absurdity! Doors are not meant to be kicked down, unless there's either a raid on a criminal hideout or someone's trapped inside a burning building. This was a party, not a raid or rescue! To Yuhiko, there was nothing out of line regarding telling someone off for kicking a door so unnecessarily!
Second, just how deaf is this boy? Yuhiko did not once mention anything about anyone other than the door-kicker getting warned. Not once! And there was no mention of detention at all! It was a warning about getting kicked out should the other student do something like that again. So why was this blond fool even bringing up detention?
Oh, and how lovely, assuming that I'm the type of person to abuse power. What, just because I uphold the rules and you don't like that, that somehow makes me corrupt and mad with power? Or some 'villain in the making'? Yuhiko could not believe that. The sheer audacity! This person clearly did not know him well if that's what he thought of Yuhiko. Talk about exaggeration!
Then the idiotic blather regarding having witnesses to my supposed 'being out of line' nonsense. More like witnesses who saw Yuhiko handle the matter in a rather reasonable way as expected of a member of the Disciplinary Committee. Okay, maybe it was understandable to take offense in seeing the word troglodyte being used, but to Yuhiko, he was just telling it like it is. A student of UA (or hell, just any reasonably civilized person in general) has no right to kick a door open without good reason, of which there was none. Unless these witnesses were either incredibly stupid and naive to misinterpret the situation, or they were just outright malicious in intending to help frame someone of an act that they did not do. But in that situation, just who would be the ones acting like petty villains in the making? Certainly not the lawful student just trying to do his job!
So all in all, it was clear to see why despite certain people being impressed with Beaumont's words and actions, Yuhiko was most certainly not. But that was enough mental ranting. Time to actually talk!
"Okay, so there are some things I must say in response." Yuhiko had a calm expression and voice. He was not mad. He was more confused than anything. "First, just who said anything about detention? I mentioned no such thing. All I did was give him a warning. A warning to either behave or leave the party. He did kick down a door, in a situation where it was completely uncalled for. This is a party, not a burning building or a criminal raid. This is a hero school, not a delinquent hangout. So where exactly is this 'abuse of power' you speak of? I see none from where I'm standing, and I'm sure that any witness here cannot accuse me of doing anything more than upholding our rules. Not without finding a way to twist my words, at any rate."
No rude tone. No condescension (this time). Just Yuhiko speaking in a calm and serious manner to a fellow student, explaining calmly why he disaggreed with the student's words. "I'm sorry, but I highly doubt that someone who is trying to uphold the rules of a school for future heroes can be accused of acting like 'a petty villain in the making'. The attempt to stand up for a fellow student is admirable, I'll give you that, but ultimately misguided. All I am doing is keeping the peace here. I am not overstepping my bounds by doing so. I am simply being fair. Or are you suggesting a teacher wouldn't scold you if one of them saw you kick down a door for no good reason? Why don't you just back off and go back to enjoying the party, instead of trying to pin false and ridiculous accusations on me? I admit that perhaps referring to him as a troglodyte may have been a bit too far on my part, but otherwise, your entire argument is simply too ludicrous and weak."
Naturally, Kyouko's words did little to actually help the situation. Then again, Yuhiko was not at all surprised. He just gave her a brief glance before heading off. But not before giving her a few words. "I'm not attending this party to have fun. I am here to ensure that the party remains orderly and that everyone here behaves." From how things were going so far, Yuhiko was not very optimistic at the moment.
At least someone here was reasonable. Yuhiko looked over to Niji and nodded once. He did not return her smile, but at least he wasn't completely frowning either. Then, it was time to address pretty much the entire room at this point. "Precisely. I want it to be known that I will do everything in my power to make sure that no rules are broken. I am not nice. I don't care if you like me or not. I will not sugarcoat my words. I tell it like it is. If anyone does something wrong, I give a warning. If it happens again, that person gets evicted. But I am fair. I will not be accused of giving someone a punishment that they did not deserve. That is all. Contrary to what some..." The temptation to look at Beaumont was strong, but Yuhiko was mature. Someone here needed to be.
"...might think of me, I am not abusing my power in any way, nor is it my intention to interfere with the party or anyone's enjoyment of it. As long as you all behave, follow the rules, and abstain from doing anything unnecessary like kicking down a door, then I will stay out of the way. That is all. Now, as you were."
And with that, Yuhiko would once again try to go sit down and read, leaving everyone else to go enjoy the party. Unless of course someone decided to stop him yet again. Yuhiko hoped that it would not happen. He really just wanted to get back to reading and enjoying his book. But if anyone dared step out of line again, then Yuhiko would not go easy on them. He had already given his warning. It was up to the others to either heed it or foolishly ignore it.
