As Caitlyn poured her heart out Mia gave her the simple respect of listening as she spoke, leaning on her elbows on the bar, knowing from experience these things wouldn’t tip even under her usual weight as she rested into it. Seemed she was a bit of an outcast from her family which… god Mia wasn’t even buzzed yet, not even close, but she couldn’t help but burst out- “So some of the only bug shaped people on the planet pushed you aside cause you weren’t the right kind of bug? I… jesus that’s fucking retarded…” She chuckled out as she rubbed her eyes, taking in a long sigh. “Fuck I’m sorry I know that’s your late parents I’m talkin’ bout but… fuckin hell that’s dumb. To push out someone who’s got the makings of a fucking pro just cause she got… what, 6 arms instead of 4? They shoulda been praising you like the second coming or something.” She picked up another bottle of beer, downing it in one and not even flinching as it burned up pretty quickly in her system, needing a good few pints before she even started feeling a tingle. Her red eyes glanced up as Caitlyn called her pretty, scoffing a little, but not about to cut her off just yet. “Typically I prefer ‘handsome’ as weird as that sounds, but I’ll take pretty while you focus on getting sloshed.~” It was true though, with her masculine features and more broad shoulders it tended to come off like a more genuine compliment.
She scoffed again as Caitlyn got back on track almost comically in how loose she was about the topic, shaking her head at the mention of a kid. “Didn’t know personally. I mean you never told me before you left if that’s what you mean.” Mia followed on as she talked about another kid she tried to help protect that died… lady lavender coming up again and Mia’s brow furrowing. The name seemed familiar but it was hard for Mia to grab names out of her memory if she didn’t have a face to readily put them too. Heck half the reason she knew who Thunder was is because she’d punched the guy in the gob once before. “Well… aye. That’s good.” She let out, not really too sure what to say on the matter of child death, sipping more slowly from her drinks.
“Ya know if it stops me having to come up with a way to console you I think more drinks are definitely on the menu…. By the way you get drunk real quick but, I guess you are just a spider.~” She teased idly, picking up the cocktail glass to take back to the bar, never liking to bother waiters with having to clear up tables, and heading with it to the bar, returning with 3 more bottles for herself and another glass for her company, popping off one of the bottle caps against her horn and chugging it back before leaning once more over the table. “So… family death… adopted-sorta child death… things ain’t been going well for ya I can see that much… that why you wanted me to train you? Worried you ain’t able to… protect people, or somethin’?”

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 613 WORDS ■ "I LIKE THIS, ANOTHER!" ■
Resting on the table, she was at ease. Maybe it was because she had someone she could trust, or maybe it was all of the booze in her system. A period of being dry did make it hard to know where you stood before. Maybe it was one, or two too many drinks for her. She turned out, but back in enough to hear what seemed like the number one hero calling her family retarded? That wasn't nice. But maybe she was right. Maybe it ran in the family. Maybe Caitlyn was-
"Actually my dad had ten and my mom had a dozen." They looked like centipedes. Or at least that's what she called them in her head. All bugs started to look the same after a while. You just would learn which ones were poisonous, armored, or just gross. Maybe people weren't so different from them. Maybe that variety was the reason she had so many different and strange spiders within her. The thought of the spiders would be in sync with a few that crawled out of her ears and into her hair to be buried and rested. A feeling she was used to, just like your hair getting out of place. It was natural to her. Often she forgot how uncomfortable it made a few others.
The silence after the mention of death again as Caitlyn rested her eyes for a moment as she watched Mia's twin take a seat. Or was she always there? It was hard to say. "Oh god, I'm drunk already?" Or well, you could just say it like that.
With her leaving, her mind would drift for a second. She would open them up to see the hooded figure standing next to her, just outside of the table.
"Just let it out, Caitlyn." it spoke again. A ghost from her past.
She stared at the figure that wasn't there, only to reach out to the glass for her when it got to the table. She would lift it and chug it down in a single sip before placing it back onto the table.
"People like, feel really good when they see me." she would start, her world spinning, both because of all of the alcohol, and figuratively because of how upside down things were. "Like, I look soooo crazy. If I can be a hero, like, they can be too, even if they look really strange y'kno." her mind drifted to Yellow Jacket. She too was kind of in the same boat, but she was so pretty, so perfect. She couldn't fail. Even if she did, she was graceful. Her quirk was simple. She was a bee. Caitlyn? She vomited spiders. She was a spider who could barely shoot webs, couldn't poison. She vomited spiders because it seemed less gross than using her butt. They could easily exit from her ears and nose, but, it seemed like the least disgusting way. Maybe it would intimidate her foes. That uncertainty was the reason she had hide herself. And now, she felt like a nobody. Her own actions coming around to haunt her. Maybe it was her own undoing. Maybe she just wasn't cut out for it. She could have retired maybe. Go to Yuuei a failed pro hero but rise a successful hero. If she could help someone not make the same mistakes, maybe it was worth it. Or maybe, she shouldn't give up on what she was doing. Ever.
"I don't wanna be a fuck up anymore. I don't wanna like, ask for help all of the fuckin' time. I wanna fuck shit up, and fuck people up. I wanna be strong." She stared at the ghost. "For her."

Mia instinctively shifted backwards a little from the uncomfortable image presented to her of spiders climbing out of her friends ear. Really it shouldn't have bothered her but it had been a while since she'd seen Caitlyn so the imagery wasn't so fresh in her mind for her to be used to it. Still, she loosened right up, casually pointing at it with a hand that had the rest of it's fingers filled holding the neck of a bottle. "Forgot thats where they lived" She idly commented, trying not to seem uncomfortable but also drawing attention to why she'd even jolted to begin with. Kinda unsure if she'd done it on purpose in some way...
"Still though... 10 arms or a million arms. They got a kid who's able to control spiders and went on to be a hero... if they treated you like the runt of the litter or an outcast or whatever, that's their dumb mistake..." Mia idly reached over to a loose bowl of peanuts someone laid out on the table, stuffing her mouth with a handful of the salty snacks, crunching idly away as she listened to the girl before her continue to explain her situation, smirking a little as she asked if she was drunk. "Looks like it... guess insects don't have good tolerance eh?" Still, drunk or not she'd offer her ears up to listen, glad to see her loosening up enough to actually share her problems rather than trying to step around them. "Yeah I get that..." She idly let out to the idea of 'looking weird' as a hero. Yellow Jacket, Mikhail, heck even being such a muscular female figure probably did a lot to help encourage kids who wanted to follow in their footsteps. Even with her horn though she knew she came out of the physical quirk lottery pretty well. Someone like Caitlyn definitely had the rougher end of the stick. Even of Mia could admire them for who they were and didn't think they were offputting, she knew if the two of them were put side by side, Mia would probably be labeled as the more 'normal' of the two.
When she spoke about not wanting to be a fuck up... Mia took a slow breath at that. The note hitting home more than she expected if only because of her recent incident, folding her arms and giving a solid nod. "... Yeah. Yeah I... can relate to that.... if getting stronger is what you think you need to help with that babe, I'm all for it." She lifted her drink up, a bit of a solemn expression still in her eyes but a weak smile on her lips. "But hey, if it helps, you ain't ever been a fuck up to me. Cheers."
Assuming their drinks met, Mia would take a heavy chug of hers and rub at her face, the buzz starting to set in a little as she thought for a moment. "You... still got a place to stay here in Tokyo? You ain't living out of a hotel or something are ya?"

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 427 WORDS ■ "me make good talk." ■
She was aware how unsightly her quirk was. It was complicated, messy, and strange. She wasn't just a spider, but housed them/ Thousands and thousands of them existing and living within her. She was gross, morbid, and disgusting. Her own job was to house the dead and tear them apart, piece by piece. She needed meat, and with the discarding scraps, she felt disgusted by herself and the need for it. To sedate the creatures that could very well kill her from the inside. If any villain knew, if anyone kept her captive... how long would she last, before her own quirk became the death of her?
She listened, her ears keen to her words. She didn't want to hear what she wanted. She wanted to hear what was needed to be said. Some of the things she told herself, but she needed to hear someone else say it. She just needed someone else to reaffirm her thoughts, her feelings, her ideals. Her eyes watched as the woman reached out to get a handful of peanuts. ". .. have those been there the whole time?" her thought to herself as she reached out herself, and got a handful, feeding herself a single piece at a time.
As the drink was lifted, Caitlyn reached out to both of her drinks, only to pick up one. Two? Fuck. Twelve arms? Oh shit. She narrowed her eyes, trying to concentrate on which of her doubles was the real glass. Slow and steady moments as she tried to aim for the toast. She would probably miss.
The liquid poured down her throat, not a single drop wasted. her tongue licking the rim just to be sure nothing was left behind.
"No, I got this... uh..." Apartment. The word was apartment. "Apppp... pert..." She narrowed her eyes and furrowed her brow. Why was the word not coming out? Was it that sound?
Fuck Japanese. She replied in plain English. "I have a place. Paid in full. With kid." Her accent stilled, almost non existent as she spoke to the woman. She was American right? It didn't matter. Who didn't know English at this point. It was better than trying Korean with her.
"Hotel nasty." she could feel her words slip from under her tongue. Was she having trouble speaking again? Was she reverting to her younger days? Or was it the drinks talking? Why was the room spinning? Did Mia start spinning the building? What did the bartender do to piss her off?
"Get paid ok." she would say again, in reply to her last question, or statement?

Mia was trying a little hard not to chuckle as Caitlyn seemed to get drunk almost supernaturally fast. Did it have something to do with her quirk? Did she process alcohol INTO her system way too fast? Geeze Mia complained about her liver being way too fucking strong but watching the other end of the stick she found it kinda sadly hilarious. Heck she was feeling a little glad it was difficult for her to get a buzz on rather than way too fucking easy like it seemed to be for Caitlyn. With a deep sigh she pushed up off the booth seat she was using, taking in what Caitlyn was saying but… feeling it may be best to get a move on.
“Place paid in full. With a kid… they there now? You okay to go home like this?” She eased away any of her own remaining bottles out of Caitlyn’s reach as she fixed her own clothes up a bit. “Cause trust me I don’t think you can handle another minute here.” Note to self Redhorn, don’t get Caitlyn drunk. “Come on. I’ll at least make sure you get there wherever you’re spending the night…~” She offered a hand out to Caitlyn to help her out of her booth, and even hoist her up under her legs if she seemed too wobbly to stand.

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 203 WORDS ■ "Please help" ■
Was it alright? Was any of it alright?
To go home, to a happy set of arms to greet and hold you. To go home to a happy face that was joyed to see you. To sleep beside them peaceful with the world, happy to have each other. Was it alright to be happy, when you had failed and lost the other? Was it not wrong to be full of contentment when they were the one that suffered? When they went out to do a job you should have been doing? Wasn't it wrong to smile?
Was any of this right?
"No, it ok." she spoke. "Me want sing." She lifted a hand, another hand, until three pointed in the direction of the singer. She wasn't entirely sure if it was karaoke or not, but-
"Sound like poo poo. Me better." her eyes narrowed into their direction. She was going to prove something tonight. She would begin to rise from her seat, almost too easily. Almost as if she was driven by a higher purpose. "Momma ain't no bitch." she would say aloud to her friend.
She was definitely going to embarrass someone. The question was, if it was Mia, or Caitlyn herself.
Only time would tell.

The place wasn't really designed for karaoke but when Caitlyn said they wanted to sing... well, Mia really shouldn't encourage them. They only had professional singers in this place buuuut... Mia also had gone a long time since a buddy of hers had been able to succumb to drunken shenanigans for her pleasure. She was really suppressing the urge to grin but as Caitlyn rose up out of there seat, Mia shrugged, deciding it must already be too late to stop them. Surely a titan like her couldn't possibly hope to catch and stop such a petite little spider lady. Nope. Couldn't possibly happen.
"Nooo. Wait. Stooooop." She called out in monotone as Caitlyn made her way towards the stage, snickering a little behind her hand when Caitlyn was out of ear shot, leaning back into the booth seat that she'd left empty and draping her arms over the table and the back of the booth with her legs hanging out the side. She had no idea how this was gonna go but there was one thing she felt she knew for certain.
Phwip.
She definitely needed to make sure she was recording for it... it was probably wrong of her given what she'd heard but maybe Caitlyn could laugh about it later.~

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 336 WORDS ■ "Oh hey, she can sing pretty ok." ■ She was someone who often always took no for an answer. Don't do that? Right away sir. Don't go there? Of course. With the power of liquid courage, an amount amplified with the stress of a parent and her increasing duties, she was strong enough to take on the world. For now, at least. It wasn't like she would remember it anyways. Maybe the drunk side of her knew that and dared to be more bold. "Oi oi!" she called out as the song began to die down as the set continued. "Me next." She didn't ask, she demanded. With the sight of the woman and her slightly more assertive pose, they gave in without much of a fight. It wasn't often a professional hero walked up to you, much less demanding to sing with you. "What's the next one?" She would look at the singer, only to glance over the band. Mia was still at the booth, and Caitlyn nodded in disapproval. So far. Why did she not stay close to encourage her? How boring. The band remained silent, only for Caitlyn to quickly judge the songs they played, their dress, and what they could possibly know. "You play The Cure?" And with a nod, it would begin. . . . The guitar would begin, as the hands of the woman begun to lower them at her side, as if to calm the vicinity around her. A small note for them to play slower, lower, as she took the stage. She would sing, the singer offering what she could to compliment. . . . And just as quickly as it begun, it would end. The people around her would watch silently. And Caitlyn would wait to see the impact left behind. Because, after all, the role of the hero was judged by the public's eye. And this skill, was one, of many hidden away by the woman. . . . only to have her offer a peace sign as she drunkenly stumbled off the stage, only to land at the bar for support. "Another!" the mother would proclaim.

Mia leaned back into her booth the whole while and just… quietly observed. She didn’t interrupt, she didn’t cheer or holler, she just watched this train wreck taking place, hoping it might be a memory Caitlyn could laugh about after a rough night of explaining her woes. For a drunken bit of karaoke it wasn’t like she was all that bad but… well, it was still a drunken bit of karaoke. By normal standards that was always gonna be a sloppy ass mess.
When the song came to an end Mia pocketed her phone, idly muttering to herself- “Gonna save that for the christmas party~” With the cheeky intent to put it on some big screen or a projector the next time the heroes had a big festive gathering. They barely did, ever, but it’d still be a nice thing to provide some comedy for. Still she had an eye on Caitlyn, and when she saw bug lady making another pass at the bar Mia rolled her eyes and rose out of her booth, walking over to her and very easily slipping a beefy arm around her dainty waist, hoisting the arachnoid over her shoulder and walking to the door. “Ooooh no ya don’t Ya had yer one song and it’s time to get you home…” She was about halfway out the door when she realized.
“… where do you live anyway. Might need to get us a taxi… doubt I can carry you across the rooftops. You’ll hurl all over my back and I do not wanna be finding spiders in my knickers for the next week..” Mia was already in the process of picking her phone out of her pocket with her spare hand. She never tended to need transport so she didn’t have the apps like cuber readily available.

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 215 WORDS ■ "Take me home tonight." ■
Drunk was drunk. But even so, it was only with liquor that she could brave the stage. Her own talent better than the average person, but still sloppy as she slipped and tripped over a few words. It was beautiful in its own right, in a weird, drunk bar patron kind of way. Caitlyn wouldn't have the faintest clue as to what Mia intended to do with the video, nor that she had taken a recording at all. While she sang, she was in her own little world. Her mind was miles away from thinking about the next gathering. The few friends she made, long gone, either retired, or missing. Little worries she tried not to think about. But it was at the loss of one soul, that made her consider all of her actions as a whole... except for, well now.
"What? No. Down? Hungry..." she would mutter as she was hoisted and lifted by the woman. As she mentioned the spiders, a few would crawl out of her mouth, and into her hair as she thought over the answer.
"Murasaki." she would answer. "Live at next." she would say, her words broken and choppy. "Small walk." She would say with a hand pointed in some odd direction, and another two hands pointing in a completely different direction.
