To do it or not to do it, that is the question. Wether it is nobler for his patience to suffer the unending arrows and daggers of outrageous boredom or to take arms for a sea of oppurtunities-- wait, that's not right. He really was getting bored, he was starting to remember old poetry and changing it to fit the terrible situation he found himself in this very moment. In short, he was pondering wether or not to continue bothering Yoruhi, all the while meeting his hostile glare with a shrug and a cheeky smirk.
It all came down to one factor that made him decide in favor of sparing Yoruhi. He was helping a completely innocent girl and he couldn't really bring himself to ruin Yoruhi's day, if it meant that it'd make her day even a little worse. A bothered face wouldn't look good on such a cute face. Instead, he relegated himself to keep sculpting her quietly, directing the ice shavings to the other side, where he'd be met with no one. The dropping of his cheeky smirk, his calm eyes and absolute focus on the statuette and the girl were enough to show Yoruhi he had lost all interest on annoying him, at least.
Instead, all he did to interact was, when Yoruhi said he belonged to his class, he raised his free, recovering hand to wave to everyone, deciding to introduce himself. "I'm Maximillian Kane. Pleasure to meet you, love.~" Maxi even gave her a teasing little wink, so he could see her react, even if it was a blush or a peeved look. From seeing it so many times, he had come to appreciate the actual cuteness that a peeved, though not truly angry girl could have. It was almost like staring at heaven itself throw a little harmless fit. Words couldn't really describe it, though he did try in his mind.

The redhead was quite happy to learn the names of the three other boys rather than referring to them as the blonde, brunette, and bluenette. "It's nice to meet you all," she said with a warm smile. Some introductions were fine, but something about the blue haired boy in the tree made warning signs go off in Chise's head, she would avoid them for now but she would stay wary. The peach haired girl listened as the blonde now known as Darren asked her why go to U.A. to learn the same things she would learn in a regular non-hero school. The normally cheery girl frowned slightly and began speaking, "Well...I did want to go to a non-hero school, as my quirk really isn't suitable for fighting, but all the places I had applied to rejected my application," she said with a sheepish chuckle, "My parents secretly applied me to U.A. and I got accepted, although I didn't really want to go to a hero school, I was secretly grateful that I got in," Chise said, her smile soon coming back. She knew if they asked about her in the general studies class, they would surely ask for her quirk. "The reason I chose General Studies is because as I mentioned, my quirk really isn't suitable for fighting. I couldn't use my quirk to stop a villain or anything a typical hero can do. My quirk allows me to copy the voice of any person through means of lip contact...so...k-kissing essentially," the redhead said, her cheeks growing warm at the explanation of her quirk. It was always rather embarrassing to speak of it...especially those of the opposite sex.
Chise turned back to Yoruhi and nodded in response to his comment about the trees, there were other trees besides these few. "R-Right, if we could start with a smaller tree, that would be more beneficial in my opinion," she said, her smile growing. She didn't have much to say in response to what Yoruhi said, just picking up on small things like they did go to the same school so they were bound to interact at one point, what class they were in not really mattering much. The violet eyed vixen listened as the brunette talked about the cold from the bluenette bothering him, already being a bother due to them being in the same class and all. Class tensions were always something to be wary of, she hoped there were none in her class. She was happy to hear the other insisted on moving to some of the smaller trees, Chise mentally thanking the brunette for that.
The carrot top happily picked up her belongings and followed the blonde and brunette down to where some of the smaller trees were, with the blue haired boy following close behind. Chise looked at the trees and nodded with a smile, figuring these would be much easier for her to climb to start with. Chise turned to the three boys and said, "So, how do we get started?" the peach haired girl asked with a smile, excited to learn to climb.

“I seeeee,” said Darren, sliding next to Yoruhi like a poorly-animated shot in an anime. His feet were in fact actually sliding on the ground with a quick activation of his quirk for effect. No one could deny Darren’s knack for being an idiot.
All this happened almost instantaneously as soon as Darren’s brain processed the fact that Chise had a quirk activated through kissing. It gave him a new angle from which he could annoy Yoruhi with, and he wasn’t gonna let such an opportunity pass him by.
He kept looking at Yoruhi with a knowing look and a thinking pose. As evidenced by his behavior, this was just a pose. He was looking kind of dumb with his finger and his thumb in the shape of an L on his chin and his idiotic smile. Clearly, Darren wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed.
“I see, I see,” he kept informing the group with more sideways glances at Yoruhi. He even risked a friendly elbow to the ribs. “You’re craftier than you look,” he added with a somehow sleazier smile than before.
At this point, Darren was half acting. He didn’t particularly believe his own theory that Yoruhi knew about the girl’s quirk in advance, but at this point, it was just too much fun poking fun at him. He soon felt Maxi joining in, as the air suddenly got colder, but he didn’t seem to be interested in annoying Yoruhi anymore. The fact that he addressed the redhead with his suavest British accent was a dead ringer.
Darren sighed and threw down his arms. For an instant, he looked utterly defeated. Did he hear about the girl’s quirk too?
A second later, he perked right back up. The shitposting algorithm constantly running at the back of his mind had found a new funny thing to say, or at least a thing that his brain thought was funny enough to say. Your mileage may vary.
His voice found its usual sting again as he poked his friend with it. “Easy boy, it’s gonna end up like with the blonde thot at the beach.” A cruel smile adorned Darren’s lips. Maxi was never living this one down. “Better play the long con like our friend Yoru here,” he said, pointing at the boy with his chin, reminding everyone that no one was safe around him.
Before he knew it, they reached their destination, which was a bunch of trees. Darren’s mind shifted gears and he put new bullshit in action. He walked in front of fire boy and bowed. Nothing about that bow was respectful, from the fact that Darren twirled his right hand thrice as he lowered his head to his overly extended left hand. Of course, that was before the words to follow were to be taken into account.
“We have arrived, my liege! Now please, Monkey King, your populace begs of you! Show us the legendary ability of the king of monkeys, the great Yoruhi of the Backflip, grandmaster of the long con, for we peasants are ignorant of the noble art of climbing trees!” He added, tipping an imaginary fedora: “And m’lady, your palace awaits.” He revealed the palace behind him. It was a short and stumpy tree.

I see you through the flood See you through the fire See you through the storms-a-raging
❧ Darren has said “I see” so much that Yoru was sure he actually did not see anything from that enormous face of his. He automatically swatted Darren’s elbow away when he jammed it into his ribs, and stared at him with the most bemused glare he could. As soon as he felt Maxi step closer, he decided to gain some more distance from him to preserve his sanity. Maxi’s voice was actually a surprise. Yoru had barely heard him talk, but he supposed a girl was enough to make a pervert more talkative. Yoru glared, sending a mental warning toward the ice-user that if he tried any of his perverse maneuvers right now, he would be in for a real burn. Bullies and perverts were the ones he acted the harshest against, and for some ungodly reason he found himself between two of the exact kind of people he hated.
“Huh.” Was the most intelligent thing Yoru could say as a response when Chise talked about how she got into the general studies class of U.A. He supposed it made sense, choosing the non-hero course for someone who had a less combat-oriented quirk. Versatility was one thing, but there were still people who had no way to use their abilities during a fight or in any kind of mission. “That is a weird quirk.” He deadpanned, rubbing the back of his neck as she mentioned what her quirk can do and how... He had no idea such quirks existed at all, not to mention that she actually had one like that. It was, just as he said, weird. But then again, it probably wasn’t weirder than conjuring flames that did not burn anything.
To the comment of “long con”, yet again, Yoru just raised an eyebrow and shook his head. Half of Darren’s jokes, he didn’t even understand. Must have been some inside joke, or a stupid meme from a stupid website he never visited. Climbing and rushing through a cityscape was always so much better than just sitting in front of the computer and scroll through Greennit or 3san.
As they finally reached their destination, Yoru was checking the trees, seeing if any of them are fit for easy climbing. Trees with a lot of branches and a short lone trunk were the best for a start. It was always better if the tree had low branches, and if it was sturdy enough, preferably not a young one. In his careful observation, he missed half of what Darren was saying, luckily, but the second half was already enough to know he was spouting nonsense, and get angry at him.
“Will you ever shut up? I really want to punch your nose in.” He growled, but there was no fight in his voice as he stared at the stumpy tree Darren offered, and instead walked to another one with easily reachable, thick branches, all the while searching Chise with his eyes and talking to her, even while walking sideways or backwards.
“Okay, so, first thing first. Girls climb differently than boys do. That is, uh, not a sexist joke. It’s anatomy. We have upper-body strength, you have lower-body strength, simple as that.” He placed his palm against the tree trunk. “So you are better off climbing with kicks, rather than just trying to pull yourself with your arms. Or, you know, climb with your whole body, but that is kinda hard to explain.”
The tree he chose had branches low enough to easily get to from the ground. He only had to reach up on his tip-toes to grab it, and only needed a small jump to have his legs dangle in the air. Grabbing the branch firmly, he planted his feet on the tree’s trunk to help kick his body upward beside the branch, and then did the same with another branch near his shoulder before sitting on it two levels above ground.
He was using mainly kicks on purpose, to show how it could be easier for Chise, avoiding flashy moves like somersaults, rolls or jumps that she might not be able to replicate. “It’s not that hard, you will see. If Blondie and Frigiman could get on a tree, you can too.”

Maxi didn't do anything other than just smirk at Yoruhi, blowing some air right out of his smug lips. Cold as the arctic, since the small heat they had was easily absorbed back into him, he let it just hit Yoruhi's face, a little provocation that he couldn't really strike back from. Attacking a student just because he breathed his way? Maxi was so good at fucking with Yoruhi in so many different ways, he had it down to an art form.
Moving his mind back to Chise, he heard her explain why and how she got into the school, nothing that really impressed him. What impressed him was her explaining how her quirk functioned, which meant she had to kiss someone to be able to mimic their voice. Questions came to Maxi's mind. Did it only work with people, or did it work with animals? How had she found out about her quirk? Had she even kissed animals to test it. All these thoughts provoked shivers in his spine as he quickly lost all interest in flirting. There was no going back from the morbid images that formed in his mind. Who knew what she had kissed before.
Now, with Darren being an idiot, all that Maxi answered him with was the flick of a little ice pebble breaking right into the blond boy's head to shut him up. He didn't want to be reminded of that horrible event at the beach, it was simply too awkward to even put it into words. Leaving it at that, he simply walked with everyone else towards the tree that they'd be climbing and, of course, he laughed quite a bit at Darren's bullshitery, how he mocked Yoruhi in front of Chise.
"Y'know, you should assess if she even has the core strength to do that, if she knows where to put her feet and how to balance herself. Tidbits you're missing." Maxi mentioned while looking at Yoruhi climb the tree, simply answering his nickname of frigiman by throwing two pebbles at his face, his own being quite displeased. "It's Maximillian." He said, clearly not fond of that nickname. He had enough nicknames in his life to even tolerate more at this school.

As the minutes passed, Chise knew she wasn't a big fan of this Darren boy. He seemed rude, crude, loud, and all about himself...quite the opposite of the red haired girl. She didn't take to well some...well most of the things he said but she felt it was best to just ignore it since most were not aimed right at her. She turned to the blonde and listened to his cheesy speech about a monkey king and a palace, finding it a bit over the top and childish...perhaps he had the mind of a twelve year old pre-pubescent boy...she was surprised to see one of those in a prestigious school like this. Chise sheepishly smiled in response, not wanting to say anything in case the other thought she was making fun of him or something like that.
The peach haired turned to Yoruhi and listened as he explained the basics of tree climbing to her, telling her that they climb different because of their gender and how their strength is stored. She knew she lacked upper body strength, but she supposed her legs were much stronger after hearing what the brunette boy had to say. "So, what you mean is to use my legs mostly when trying to climb the tree instead of relying solely on my hands and arm strength? That seems reasonable," she said, looking over to the tree. If she had a good footing, she supposed she could hoist herself up with the added support of her hands.
The carrot haired girl watched as Yoruhi used both his hands and feet to help him climb up onto the lowest branch of the tree, making it seem like a piece of cake from how easily he was able to climb. The small bit of encouragement from Yoruhi made Chise smile, if they all could do it, there was no reason that she wouldn't be able to as well! As she walked over to the tree and reached up to grab the branch she was aiming to get to, she heard the bluenette speak up about having core strength to be able to climb a tree. The violet eyed girl supposed core strength was important as well, but clearly judging from her appearance, core strength was something she lacked. Still, the redhead was determined to climb to at least one branch today if not anything else! The young school girl gripped the branch with one hand and placed her foot against the trunk of the tree. With a push of her leg strength, the redhead felt herself lifting up just a bit, high than she was before, onto the branch but just barely missing swinging her other leg up and onto it. This was only the first attempt though, if this didn't work, she could always as for a boost to start with before trying on her own.

Even Darren knew when he wasn’t welcomed. He had known for a while, actually; it was easy to read the annoyance off of Yoruhi and the avoidance off of Chise. The reason he was considering stopping now was that he was beginning to exhaust the possibilities of fun to be had.
Yoruhi just shook his head and shrugged Darren off. It was frustrating, which initially spurred Darren to try even harder, but now he was getting tired of it.
That is, until he finally got the reaction he wanted out of Yoruhi: something that could be interpreted as a challenge. There was a rictus on Darren’s face, but before he could say anything, the fire boy had already taken his attention away from him to redirect it towards the redhead who was trying to climb a tree.
Chise had incredible talent as a peace maker, because even someone like Darren didn’t have the heart to annoy the poor girl so much. She seemed to be the non-fighting type through and through and Darren was quickly losing interest in poking fun at her. She was one of those wholesome people; he clearly wasn't. He decided to leave them alone. Wholesome people should go with wholesome people, he decided, congratulating himself on his great wisdom.
“Fine, I’m going. Even I can tell when it's no longer funny. All yours, fire boy,” he said as he showed the rare sight of his back as he was walking away with his hands in his pocket and a swagger in his step. Always one with a taste for dramatic flair, he turned his head to look at Yoruhi in the eye one last time. “And I’m taking you up on that challenge. See you at the training grounds sometime.” He looked at Maxi as well. “Ciao, Maxi.”
And just like that, he was gone to find something else to do. He elected to nap on the roof of the school. It was a good way to spend the hot summer afternoon. In these rare moments, Darren was the picture of peace of mind with his tranquil smile and his relaxedly closed eyes, his hands crossed behind his head, his uniform jacket often serving as a makeshift pillow. It looked like nothing in the world could trouble the delinquent.
It really was a nice afternoon, he thought as he drifted to sleep. He dreamed he was a monkey. Another monkey was throwing nuts at him. The nuts were on fire. Darren punched the other monkey in the face. It was a good dream.

Poor Chise and the sausage party... quite a curious topic to behold~
Chise 31 Darren 22 Yoruhi 31 Maxi 16
How curious, despite being a General Studies girl her gains certainly are heroic to behold~
