The time had come for yet another special extra combat lesson of insanity. Geist had returned to the abandoned theme park where he had hosted the payload lessons, this time basing his lesson around what had once been a go-kart track. The go-karts were long gone now, but the track itself remained in good condition, modelled on a Wild West canyon with high rocky walls and dusty dirt ground. Geist stood by the starting line and struck various flexing poses as his six victims approached him (once again hopefully wearing their hero gear if they had any). “About time you got here!” he declared. “I hope you’re faster on the actual track. Alright, let’s not mess around; you know what you’re here for!” He reached into his coat pockets and tossed out a series of coloured bands. “Put these on anywhere you like; just make sure they’re visible. That’s right; you’re in teams for this! Bet you weren’t expecting that one. Being a hero’s as much about cooperation as it is being the best you can be!” This done, he clapped his hands and a nearby rock projected the game’s rules into the air – only the rules this time, however; unlike in his previous lessons, he did not show the course map. “I ain’t showing you where to go. You’ve gotta figure that out yourselves!” After giving them a minute to read the rules, he clapped his hands again and the projection disappeared. “Alright, maggots, line up in your teams and brace yourselves!” He pulled a whistle out of his coat and held it up to the bottom of his mask. Three, two, one – The whistle blew. They were off!---

Catching the band thrown by the combat teacher Geist, Yumi was very briefly annoyed that she was handed the blue band again. Did he do this on purpose? Did it not defeat the point of the band if it blended into her normal colors? The dark blues of her costume and the light blues of her body when coated in electricity probably made this band all but dissapear, but she wasn't about to kick up a complaint and started looking around her to see who she'd been paired with. Briefly she thought it might be Darren given they'd worked together in the past, but more likely was perhaps Red and Feng to make sure she worked with people she hadn't before.
Seems not...it was only through process of elimination she finally found herself teamed up with Miyu, but she wasn't dissapointed. In fact given they'd both guarded the flag during the capture the flag lesson, it was more than a pleasant idea to see she'd been paired with this girl again. She lifted up her band to catch her eye before pulling it up her arm and tying it in place, hoping if it was over her costume it'd be easier to spot than if it got slowly burned by the electricity pulsing from her skin should it be placed on her forehead.
"Heeeey Miyu! Good to work with you again!" She was especially excited because Miyu should give them a good chance to work in tandem. While Yumi knew she was speedy herself now that she'd trained her quirk, Miyu could simply outrun most people through leg length alone. Still, with Darren and even Feng on other teams, they had some speedy movers to lookout for, and Yumi was quick to make sure they got a good lead. "Hey! Real quick before we start, I think I can get us a good lead if I push my quirk and take us both to the front of the pack! I know Darren's a little faster than me, but he's gotta lookout for Tsuji, so, what'ya say? Fancy letting me take the lead for the first length of the race?"
She hoped Miyu agreed as Geist seemed to be hastily urging them towards the starting line. With her classmate shifting up behind her, Yumi hooked her arms in a way that clearly offered a piggyback, and the other girl seemed to agree. Good, good, once she was settled into position Yumi slowly lowered herself, hands on the ground, one knee up and the foot forward as the other stretched out behind her, the tip of her shoe edged leggings digging into the ground a little as she prepared herself, a spark of electricity running between her eyes as she looked forward with some determination.
"Gotta go fast eh Miyu...?~" SHe smirked cheekily at the sly referance. "Hold onto the costume, don't want you getting zapped."
Once Miyu was ready, Yumi's whole body sparked to life, a firm coating of electricity flowing over her skin as Yumi seemed to get even more excite for what was to come, wiggling to comfortably have Miyu rest on her back while also making sure she was still ready to move. When the signal was given to go, Yumi wasted no time.
With a burst of electricity firing out infront of her, Yumi's whole body seemed to blast from the ground to follow it. Another stream of electricity ahead of her and bam, she was flowing down the line like a zigzagging dart of lightning herself, accelerating rapidly and trying her best to maintain her top speed as she hooked her arms under Miyu's legs, trying to keep the girl on her back as she flew ahead of the competition with some hope.

It was time for another one of Geists combat lessons, one that warranted him immediately sending a message to Feng about it. This time it was an obstacle course, a event she is somewhat familiar but with the twist of it being a team race. She looked are the list and noticed a familiar name paired with hers. Red, who she met a once or twice over the course of the semester is her running partner. Though she doesn’t know his quirk or how he fights, she does know that he can possibly outlast her given what she heard about him about the festival. This will be an interesting race to say the least looking at the other names listed, Darren and Yumi being the heavy hitters paired with Tsuji and Miyu. Least everyone knows each other at least.
“Red team has someone named Red and red haired Chinese girl…Geist has a weird sense of humor to make this kind of team..”
Feng muttered as she put the band on her left wrist. She arrived in her hero outfit to both show it off and break it in. Though what she is worried about is the competition. Darren in particular since she knows how fast he can be, so he is going to be the biggest contender when it comes to speed, possibly one of the reasons why its partner up because the gaps in quirks here is staggering. Yumi is dangerous given her ranged shocks and what she can do with it. Tsuji is a bear and from videos she saw online about bears, they can go real fast despite their size so being paired with Darren is going to both hilarious and challenge. Miyu can turn big and is possibly one of the reasons why the no climbing rule exists, she can easily catch up to the front with a few steps and being paired with Yumi makes that duo dangerous as we have a walking giant with a ranged weapon…kinda like a kaiju but with a gun.
“What are the chances that something will go horribly wrong? Because I have a feeling something bad is going to happen..”
With no idea on what the course looks like and the variety of quirks here, Feng is expecting something to go horribly wrong. Knowing the group somewhat is all the info she needs when racing. Got to stay on guard from enemy attacks, have to keep up with ones partner, Got to avoid traps and obstacles because its Geist, and most of all work well with ones partner. Tsuji and Darren are going to be the biggest challenge because big bear works well with others and the other is a wildcard. Then again so is Red and both of us know what he is capable of. But worrying about the others ain’t good for the heart, got to focus on the race and what we can do to win. Overall, this is going to be a mess but a fun mess of things.
"Red, you have any plans you want to make before we start the race?", Feng asked.
But before she can even ask her question the signal was given and the race had officially begun. The first duo who shot ahead was Yumi and Miyu. The damn giant and shock girl had the immediate lead. In a panic, she readied up her quirk to blast off after them.
Feng took a huge deep breath and grabbed Red's arm, saying something to him.
“WELP NO TIME FOR PLANS ITS GO TIME, RED !!”
As she quickly finished what she was saying, she used her quirk and blast jumped after them with Red in arm ! A hasty start but screw it’s a race and its all or nothing.

“All right Hold tight I’m a highway star!”
Darren had never been one to listen to music while he was doing things, especially things relating to hero work or showing that he was better than everyone else in general: he prided himself on unbreakable concentration and music only served as a distraction. One needed absolute, bleeding-sharp focus while in the middle of a fight.
Or a race.
Before the race, however, it was as good a way to hype oneself up, and so Darren partook, blasting Deep Purple in his headphones on the way to the class. Others -- Reddarc’s face briefly flashed in his mind as he had the thought -- would have picked up some mid-90’s eurobeat, but he was OD’s Hazard’s star bassist and damn if he wasn’t representing his fellow rock kids.
He smiled and greeted Geist-sensei as he arrived, dressed as instructed in his hero outfit save for the usual harness; shedding weight was important in a race. It therefore only consisted of the green jumpsuit, black leather rangers and steel-knuckled mittens, and save for those last two items and the white letters of “KINETIC” and “ACTIVITY” sewn on his sleeves, he would have looked very much like a janitor.
That’s when the flexing combat teacher dropped the surprise: they were not gonna race alone, but cooperatively instead. “Why do we get the ugly yellow, Geist-sensei?” he asked on a joking tone before he turned around to see his partner. It was the bear guy, the aptly named Tsuji Kuma. Two words came to his mouth: not a remark, not a suggestion, but a declaration. “Bear. Cavalry.”
The rules were simple: you finished when both you and your teammate crossed the line, or, in other words, once the slower of the two finished. They were allowed to fight, but not to supercede the course, and given that Geist-sensei wasn’t showing them the course and asking them to figure it out by themselves, Darren guessed that would mean their orientation skills would be put to the test. His tactical brain immediately started cruching the implications; it was a race in which finishing first of your group didn’t matter in the slightest, it was all about getting both participants across. With the combat element involved, it cemented the idea that it was better to stick together to avoid getting picked off in a defeat in detail sort of deal -- though branching off might be a good idea if the course proved as labyrinthic as Geist-sensei was hinting at.
True to his words, he lined up not next to his bearlike teammate but on top of him, riding on his back as the expression “Bear Cavalry” implied. It might be seen as a weird choice, one that would rob Darren of his top speed, but this was more akin to an endurance race than Formula One; the focus wasn’t on crossing the finish line first so much as it was on making it to the end with both participants fresh and alive while fending off attacks from the two other teams.
“You ever see sidecar racing? Isle of Man shit?” he whispered to his furry mount with a disconcerting hint of excitement in his voice. “Just barrel down the corners at full speed. Don’t even worry about slowing down. Trust me, I’ll make us turn.” Now would be a good time for Tsuji to worry about what the fuck did he just got himself into, but Geist-sensei didn’t leave him that luxury as he kicked off the start of the race.
“BEAR CALVARY, CHAAAAAAAAAARGE!” he screamed at the top of his lungs. Yumi was already fizzing ahead of them with Miyu on her shoulders; Feng soon sprang after her with Red in tow, and hopefully the bear cavalry would take off at the same time. Bears were much, much faster than their blubbery appearance made them seem to be, and from what he had seen, that applied just as much for Tsuji, hence Darren wasn’t too worried about top speed. Maneuverability he would assure in the corners; this arrangement would leave him free to roam during straighter portions of the race, however, and since that’s what the course started with, he got to work immediately and jumped off Tsuji’s back to run a little ahead of him, chasing after Yumi and Miyu but keeping his partner’s at arm’s length.
He didn’t leave Tsuji’s back unguarded for long. In fact, he immediately went to crash in the rock wall to their side, a puzzling move to be sure but one that Yumi was likely to recognize, as the intent and the result was to break off enough sizable pieces of rock for Darren to kick and throw their way. Some were aimed at Yumi, but more at Miyu; the delinquent’s logic was that Yumi likely wouldn’t be able to zigzag around so much while hauling the less mobile turn-into-a-giant girl on her back lest she knocks her out with G-forces alone when untransformed, and if she did transform, well, she wouldn’t be as easy to lug around.
The aim was to knock Miyu off her back that way, or at least to prevent Yumi from just straight-up blasting ahead in a straight line, forcing her to waste time zig-zagging around the rocky projectiles. Separating your opponents and pinning one of them down was the key here, as it would do Yumi no good to cross the finish line of her own, no matter how fast she was.
And damn was she fast, he remarked to himself. It pissed him off a little, but it added fuel to the fire of his fighting spirit. There could be only one speedy bastard at Yuuei, and it sure as hell wouldn’t be a redhead if Darren had anything to say about it.

After putting on his hero suit, Tsuji was to walk down to the training area, in order to do a combat lesson with a couple of other people. He wasn't sure what it would be exactly, he just knew it would be some sort of race. A test of rigorous speed, and power to boot. As he arrived, he saw Geist, flexing in the hot summer sun – he was intense for doing that in almost all black, but he was the resident 'tough teacher' after all. He announced that it would be a team effort, Tsuji working with Darren for such a test of speed and stamina, with Feng teaming with Red, and Miyu with Yumi. It made sense, albeit in a coincidental fashion – Feng and Red were pretty obvious in terms of their quirks and aesthetics, but Yumi and Miyu were anagrams of each other when romanised, which was pretty neat.
In any case, Tsuji approached his partner, as he struck up his idea, which sounded very demanding. 'Bear cavalry' was a bit of a strange term, but he could understand what he meant. Darren would be on top of Tsuji, riding on his back while he pelted on all fours. Unsure of what Darren would do, but confident in his confidence, he gave a thumbs up and got into position at the starting line. He'd have to leave a fair bit of the combat to Darren, but Tsuji could make up for it in speed – so long as they both got to the finish, they'd win easy. Placing the given yellow band on his left arm, he got down onto his paws and kicked some dirt behind him, to get decent enough footing. As his partner climbed on, whispering about an 'Isle of Man', barrelling and sidecars, Tsuji got what he meant, but the fact that there was an island of just men sounded a little bit odd. Maybe they just wanted to hang out, have fun, watch some TV there.
Locations aside, it was about time to begin the race. With Darren's yell which made Tsuji think back to the sports festival and how he had gone with Ung, he began to dash straight ahead, alongside Feng bouncing forth and Yumi zapping forward. The dirt felt soft under his paws, as well as his feet, as he swiftly pushed his way forth into the fray. Darren must have felt similarly excited, as his quirk began to take form, slamming him into a rock directly in front, and kicking off chips of it over to Yumi and Miyu – an ingenious strategy, but one that had a minor consequence. He'd hate to see his friends in danger, but this was all hopefully under control – if they won, they won, it wouldn't be a grand state of affairs. A good (somewhat) clean race was what mattered, and the teamwork with it. Tsuji would just have to crash through the course, and break out into a victory to show his speed and his unbreakable spirit of teamwork.

Miyu hopped into the air and caught the blue band thrown by her teacher, immediately wrapping it around her forehead, just above her pink domino mask. She’d come far more prepared than the last combat lesson, with some semblance of a real costume in place rather than just her PE uniform. Silver covered her body from the neck downwards, with soft shoulderguards, elbow padding and kneepads. The striking colour of her costume was broken up by matte pink lines that eventually split into covering the majority of her arms. She’d just found the bodysuit in a costume shop and spray painted some football equipment silver for the padding, but already she felt more heroic.
So, he was dividing them up into teams like this again. Her eyes darted between her classmates, but she couldn’t make out a second band the same colour as hers. Her good friend, Tsuji, had a yellow band clearly wrapped around his arm, and Feng’s band, tied around her wrist, was about as red as her hair. No luck there.
At least it looked like Darren wasn’t her partner. She really didn’t want to deal with his attitude again after their last combat lesson, so at least she only had to face him as a foe, not an ally. A quick look at Red made it clear his band colour matched his name, and Miyu giggled. Geist must’ve done it on purpose.
By process of elimination, she must’ve been paired with Yumi again. Unlike with Darren, she’d enjoyed being on the same team as Yumi, defending the flag together. She gave a big wave to Yumi, realizing she was having the same problem Miyu had, and smiled wide as her partner approached.
“Back at you, Yumi!” She replied. Miyu knew she wasn’t exactly the fastest runner on her own, but she’d seen firsthand just how fast her partner was. Geist must’ve paired them up on purpose to make the race fair. Honestly, she wasn’t completely sure how she felt about that, since it suggested Geist thought her weak enough to balance out Yumi’s strength, but at least she was with someone who’d be patient with her, and not Darren.
“Oh, sure! Go ahead!” She was snapped out of her own thoughts by Yumi’s suggestion, and quickly bounced onto her back the moment Yumi let her up. This certainly was an interesting way for them to get in front, and it certainly wouldn’t keep up for the whole race, but it’d be a good way to start at least. Her fingers gripped tight onto the material of Yumi’s costume on her shoulders.
The thin silver material over her arms was definitely not enough to insulate her from the lightning, she could feel it crackling even through the other girl’s costume. At the very least, she had a bit of time to get comfortable before the signal was given and the girl underneath her darted forward. The sudden gust of wind pushed Miyu’s long hair out behind them, and almost threatened to tear her mask from her face.
With her hair falling into her face, she could only just barely see the rocks coming her way. The first, she just barely managed to lean out of the way of, but the second and third hit her square in the chest. One of her legs fell from Yumi’s hold and she flailed it for a moment in panic, before managing to hook it back around her arm at an angle that’d be awkward for anyone else.
“Y-Yumi!” Her voice just barely carried over the roar of the wind around her. “I-I think Darren’s throwing stuff at me! He might be trying to knock me off or something!”

"Well, its time to nearly die again" Red thought to himself as he bolted as fast as he could to the theme park Geist had told him to go to for todays lesson. He wasnt exactly thrilled about it when he first heard about it, but atleast he wasnt the only one going to be put through hell. Atleast thats what he thought when he originally got it a couple hours ago. But unfortunatly for him, he'd gotten too focused on trying to get his new arm cannons ready for it, and swapping some new parts into his skates....so he may have been running a tad late. Which is why he was running his ass off to atleast get there on time, just hitting random on his phone to play something as he jumped out his window. He wouldnt have had time to grab his hero outfit even if he had one, judging from the fact he jumped out while still putting his shirt and jacket on, looking even more disheaveled than usual. Didnt help that upon getting to the theme park, he slammed his head against the floor attemping to jump over the gate, landing face first on the other side. Probably in full view of everyone, cause that was how his luck worked."Ah goddamm---Sorry im late, i was workin on my gear" He'd apologise once he got up and approached the group, rubbing the back of his head awkwardly and catching his breath. Geist looked like a fuckin dork with all his poses but the kid knew better than to voice that....he didnt want to go back to boot camp. He would give their teacher a Oh come on, Really? Eyebrow when he was thrown the Red band, which he tied around his left arm. He woulda tied it around his head but his goggles were there. Once that was done and he started looking around for his partner, he'd realise something: He was the only person here not in a hero suit. Darren had the cool outfit, sans a couple items from what he remembered, from the sports fest, Yumi had her electro suit, Miyu had the equivelent of football gear on, and the rest had theirs too. As for Red? He was just in his normal clothes, plus his quirk stuff. Red jacket, Black shirt, Jeans, His Skates and Fingerless gloves.
Feeling a bit out of place, He eventually found his partner, that being Feng. Red shot Geist another look, clearing seeing what the masked teacher was doing. He was just happy he wasnt with Darren again, that could only go the way of the obsactle course.....Still owed the guy for carrying him through that first day. Either way, Feng walked up to him and asked him if he had a plan....which he didnt, on account of rushing over here, but he was quickly coming up with one. Looking at the rules, Darren and Yumi couldnt just blast off and win the race on their own, and the no climbing rule or flying rule was probably to deter everyone from just skipping the course, and the...."Hazards" Geist had planned. Visions of boot camp came back, and they were not pretty.
Thinking about it, Technically his team had a small advantage. He figured Feng was faster than him, based on when she fought Darren, but he didnt think the disparity was TOO big. Plus, Red could make it for his lack of speed with his range, which Darren didnt have beyond throwing rocks. Yumi was better than both of them combined probably, BUT she also had to look out for Miyu, so that would probably weigh her down just a tad. This was all conjecture in his head, but the plan was simple: Let them go first. In doing so, They would trigger all the traps first, and hopefully get caught up in one or two. Then all him and Feng had to do was stay vigilent and they could sweep. Based on the rules, they could even split up and harrass the entire time, maybe have one person go ahead to cut people off.
Unfortunatly, he would get no time to relay ANY of this to Feng, since as soon as she finished asking, the whistle was blown. Yumi blasted off with Miyu on her back, Darren charged forward on Tsuji's back, riding him like a trusty stead and looking really cool in the process. As for him? Feng had grabbed his arm and just bolted. Why do i never get to just start how i want? First i get tossed down the road by Darren and now im being dragged along by Feng. He'd complain as his goggles fell over his eyes, the rest of his face being battered by the sudden force of the wind due to Fengs speed. Looking forward after turning all of his gear on and trying to escape Fengs grasp, he witnessed Darren break a couple rocks in front of him and start tossing them at the blue blur that was Yumi. Looked like it was kind of working, since Miyu had nearly fallen off due to gettin hit with em, but it was clear that rocks alone wouldnt be enough.
So, Red, instead of trying to wriggle out of Fengs grip fruitlessly, Decided to use her arm as a brace, locking it with his own and placing his hand on the other, Aiming it at Yumi. Why? So he could shoot at her too. she was clearly in the lead, albiet slightly, so any chance to slow her down would need to be taken. It was a chance to test his cannons too. They were small, about the size of a pistol barrel on top of his bracelets, but that was the point. They were pretty much empty barrel chambers that spun, so Red could fire smaller airblasts without having to use his whole arm. They didnt have the sheer force, of course, but packed some wallop on their own, and he could theoretically fire a lot more. Which is what he started doing, trying to get Yumi to lose speed. Plus you know, if one or two of them hit it would probably help. From what it looked like, they were JUST behind everyone else, Tsuji being the closest person.
"Hey, put me down i can keep up, im just fuckin weighin ya down" He'd remark as he was firing. Assuming she did, he's just follow the same course of action, except while skating forward. Hopefully the recoil didnt hurt too bad.Word Count: 1100

(sorry if this is a bit short, im just not in the headset for posting but didn’t wanna keep everyone waiting)
Yumi didn’t actually feel the harsh sting of the air against her face as much as Miyu likely was, with her constant output of electricity creating a small repulsive force she wasn’t feeling the direct impact of it as it curved around her. Miyu wasn’t so lucky, probably getting a face full of wind against her face as Yumi tried to focus on getting as good a lead as she could. She knew Darren was ultimately the faster of the two of them (at the time of starting this thread) so she needed to take advantage of being the motor of her and Miyu’s team for as long as she could.
Still, it seemed moving ahead like this had easily made the set of them a target, and Darren wasted no time in taking advantage of the fact Yumi was out in the open with her eyes forward. Yumi didn’t seem to be taking the hits directly, but she could hear one or two rocks wiz past her. She did however feel it vicariously as the wave of the impact pulsed through Miyu on her back and she heard Miyu’s own calls over the wind whipping past them. “Right, right! Evasive manuvers aren’t much of an option now is here…Get ready to run!”
Without much warning Yumi tried her best to huck Miyu over her head so she’d land ahead of her and hopefully on her feet. Yumi flipped about in midair with the same motion, landing on her feet, not wanting to waist energy flying if she was going to be stationary for a moment, a lot of the crackling energy she needed to fly dissipating and leaving her standing more solidly, looking at those coming in towards her, specifically Red who’d been shooting air bullets, and Tsuji and Darren with their rocks.
“Keep running! I’ll try and hold ‘em back a bit!” In her mind, so long as Miyu finished ahead of everyone else that’s all that mattered. Tsuji wasn’t easy to carry so Darren was weighed down, and Yumi could outpace Feng and Red, so she just had to focus on keeping them all back. He arms pulsed with energy and she rapidly began firing out bolt after bolt, her aim a little haphazard and indiscriminate, focusing on number of shots rather than a more direct aim. Afterall just one shot could be a pretty sharp blow to their pace. Yumi the character’s brain was making some sort of Jojo reference with how fast she was throwing her arms forward over and over to fire off the blasts, Yumi the writer however would never dare dignify Jojo with an accurate reference.

“Get ready to ru-huh?!” Miyu yelped as Yumi chucked her over her head without so much as a proper warning. By the time she cut herself off, she was already halfway to the ground, feet first. She hit the ground running, trying to shrug off the pain shooting through both her legs from the impact. She wasn’t nearly as fast as the other participants, surely Darren or Red and Feng would catch up on her sooner rather than later, but for now that didn’t matter. All she could do was keep running and hope Yumi’s plan would work. With how far she’d been hurled, she easily reached the bridge to the next part of the course in but a few bounds. Looking back, she could see more of Tsuji and Darren’s rocks flying Yumi’s way, followed by Red’s air blasts that she could just barely make out. She knew in her mind that Yumi could more than handle such pitiful projectiles, but in her heart she still felt horrible leaving her behind, plan or not. Past the bridge, the path divided in two. She could clearly make out several more divergences in the path before it seemed to converge further down the line, just barely beyond her field of view, but even from here she couldn't make out what the fastest route would be. Part of her considered transforming to get a better peak at the path ahead, but that seemed to be a big waste. It would paint a huge target on her head, she would become tired immediately after transforming back, AND she wasn't even all that fast transformed, even with her longer strides. At the very least, Yumi would be able to see whatever direction she took, even if she didn't transform. But, that left Miyu with another problem. She was already slowing the team down simply by virtue of forcing them to split up, if she picked the wrong path, she'd be dragging them down even more. Frozen in indecision, she stopped near one of the canyons next to the bridge. (current locations roughly)

As Feng witnessed Miyu and Yumi blasting ahead and the hilarious sight of Darren and Tsuji looking like a Viking on a war mount, she failed to realize Red’s current position in this entire scenario. Given the circumstances she would have loved some prep time but due to the quick trigger nature of the teacher at hand, she doesn’t have time to think about anything. The troubling situation aside, this is going to be an interesting race given the line up.
“I’ll let go just give me a sec-“
As she was loosening her grip on Red’s arm, off in the distance can see Miyu running ahead but noticed that Yumi was left behind. A thought was given as to why she would be left behind but before she can anything else can happen a volley of shock blasts started coming towards the duo.
“OK THEN, I’LL LET GO BUT CAN YOU CATCH UP TO MIYU, I’LL DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE COMING VOLLEY THAT’S ABOUT TO HIT US AT FULL FORCE!”
Feng lets go of Red’s arm to hopefully defend against the barrage of blasts from the falling red railgun. She performed another jump midair to extend her airtime and readied up her counter to repel the storm. With how fast they’re going and the situation they’re in, she has little time to think of what to do that’s possible. She advances towards the coming storm; she can do this!
“DRAGON STEP!”
Her legs ignite into flame as Feng spun mid air to kick a fire blast to match the volley. She didn’t even know she could do this until now, but she can’t exactly think straight right now. Panic, Stress, Excitement, Anger, and many similar emotions are going through her head each second as she frantically generates momentum midair to do something insane and hopefully brilliant.
“DRAGON’S BLITZ!”
She yelled out as kicked fireball after fireball at Yumi’s storm. Feng put all of her focus at Yumi and hopes that Red landed and go after Miyu. She’ll worry about the consequences later, right her main goal is to get her partner ahead and SURIVIVE.
TLDR: -Lets go of Red's arm and lets him fall for a bit. -Feng performs a midair jump and goes towards the storm of Yumi Shots -Feng activates Dragon Step -Feng in a panic, kicks a bunch of fire balls at the volley. -Realized that she can actually do that. -Is now in full defense mode so she Red can fall to the ground safely.

The cannons on Reds arm were working better than he thought. Once he actually got used to the rather negligible recoil, especially since he was using Feng as a brace, he was able to fire pretty fast. His accuracy wanst that bad either, he probably would have hit Yumi and Miyu if they werent moving as fast, or his elevation wasnt changing constantly thanks to Feng. He tried his best to compensate, but the constant aim adjustments meant his shots accuracy varied wildly. Sometimes they would whizz past Their faces by mere centimetres, sometimes they just plowed straight into the ground, creating small potholes in the process. Easy to dodge, atleast. Darrens aim seemed better atleast, he'd actually hit Miyu who....wait why is Yumi throwing her forward? He'd seen them talking but even Miyu seemed surprised at this turn of events, The flails of surprise being pretty evident. Adjusting his aim towards here, he fired a few potshots at her with no real effect...and then Yumi turned around.
Red had an idea of what was about to happen. He'd never actually seen her quirk in action personally, just seen video of her fight with Darren thanks to the news club, but that gave him a pretty decent idea of what her capabilities were. She was fast, probably faster than the sports festival considering how fast she'd pulled ahead, and she could fire concentracted bolts of lightning at whoever she wanted.....and currently, it looked like he was the object of her attention. "IF YOU WANNA DROP ME NOWS THE TIME" He'd yell at her, Whipping his arm downwards, he fired a few shots in her general area, in an attempt to stall the barrage he could tell was about to come. Unfortunatly for him, his aim was off once again, as Feng decided that she could dodge and drop him in the same motion, using her quick to jump even higher into the air, the momentum carrying Red with her. He would have enjoyed the feeling if he wasnt about to die.
Seconds later, the barrage came in, hard and fast. The fire wasnt accurate, but with the amount that was coming in it didnt need to be, the only reason Red wasnt hit was due to his elevation, being above the majority of the fire. He wouldnt be for long though, the momentum form the jump running out, as he started to slowly fall forwards, towards Yumis position. He aimed his cannons at Yumi, about to start firing once more....and then Feng got in the way. She'd said something about taking care of this while he caught up to Miyu, and started kicking fireballs at the barrage. Feng probably hoped that they would cancel eachother out, but that wasnt the case. The bolts, instead of going straight through the fire, seemed to curve away slightly. This gave Red an idea. "YEAH, I GOT AN IDEA ON HOW TO DO THAT, JUST TRUST ME"You see, a couple weeks back Red had been playing with the idea of injecting things into his wind and how useful that would be, and totally not because he just wanted fire fists cause those are cool. He'd successfully pulled it off, but the system he'd envisioned of "Nitrous" Cartridges still needed some tinkering so he didnt burn his hands off. But the theory had been somewhat proven, albeit with lighter fluid and not whatever Fengs quirk used to burn. Red also remembered how he'd managed to survive Jaz's explosive bullets, by using the force of his wind in order to make them go off course, and use it as a slipstream to get in and kick her in the face. Fengs fire seemed to be having a similar effect.....so what happens when you combine them? Well....Theoritically, you'd get an INFERNO DIVIDER.Better a lot more than he logically should on this theory, He used what wind he'd gathered from being carried by Feng to Correct his momentum, so that he was just above her, and threw his leg back, the front of his skates opening ever so slightly. Then, when Feng kicked at the next fireball, he unleashed his leg, firing a wind fang forward, timing it so that it would pick up the majority of Fengs flames. The effect would be simple: due to both the force of his wind and Fengs fire, it would create a pseudo convection current, pushing the lightning barrage off course just enough so that dodging would be easier. Plus, any small debris from his or yumis shots would probably get caught up in it too. Also, in doing so, he would have created a slipstream for himself and anyone wanting to follow. After firing, he'd blast his way to the ground and then boost to his top speed, following said slip stream forward. What happened next was Up to Yumi.
He hadnt aimed directly at her, instead firing it at Miyu, since she was just...stationary at the crossroads, making her an easy target, but Yumi was still in the firing line, and she had two options on how to proceed: Either Option A, which was to take the hit, and Red could use that momentary opening in the barrage to slip his way past her, and start firing at Miyu just to get her to move. Or Option B, which was to dodge the hit. But once again, Red would be able to slip past, the barrage would stop and Miyu would possibly take this straight to the face. Either way, Red was getting past, and Miyu would have to start moving or end up takin a pretty fuckin hard L or getting shot...or drop kicked. He'd decide when he got there. Yumi could of course try shocking him in the back once he was past, but that'd just help the rest get past her, and he could still try dodging it....maybe. TLDR: -Shots at Yumi Barely do anything, mostly makin small debris -Realises Yumis about to shoot him. Oh.Fuck.JPG -Fires a couple extra shots, gets dragged upwards by Feng before being dropped -See's the fireballs, gets an idea -Time to science the shit outta this -Fires an Air fang forward, which catches on fire in order to push the barrage off course and use it as a slipstream, but on fire.-Whichever option happens, He's getting past Yumi....hopefully. Behold, my shitty attempt at conveying where everyone is currently.

As a two-man unit, Darren and Tsuji entered the corner last, but that was okay. They were not going for entry speed, they were going for exit speed and to launch themselves out of the corner. “Hug the right side, and then keep going straight. Trust me through the corner, but remember, you’re in charge for the exit! We’re going for a late apex, so don’t bother slowing down! Let’s go!”
Gripping Tsuji’s hero suit tightly, Darren secured a hold with his legs as to distribute the force of his pull evenly over the bearman’s body as he shifted to the left like a motorcycle rider would. His objective was to get through the corner as fast as possible, after all, not hurt his teammate. He nonetheless warned him before the first activation as the sparks crackled over his back: “Hang tight, the first time is rough as shit!”
The next instant, Tsuji would get to experience something close to the feeling Darren had gotten used to from years of using his quirk. All of a sudden, it would feel as if he was being pulled by the nape of his neck -- roughly where Darren was gripping his hero outfit -- for the good and simple reason that he was being pulled by the nape of his neck by Darren’s activation. This would repeat six or seven times more through the corner as the delinquent bear pilot adjusted their course.
The one doing the pulling was in little to no better shape himself, hunched over Tsuji’s back at a sharp left angle, almost parallel to the ground as he hung on for dear life -- or rather, for dear victory: should Darren let go after all, he would be able to catch himself quickly, but Tsuji would likely run off-course if he kept going straight as fast as possible like Darren requested and they would lose a lot of time.
That wouldn’t do, so the delinquent held on, putting his grip strength and quirk output to the test. They both held. With every activation of Autokinesis Darren forced the speeding bear to corner without either of them having to slow down as was the case for a regular corner. Maintaining that kind of speed through a corner was no small feat, and with the other two teams busy trying to slow each other down, this was the perfect opportunity to overtake the both of them and gain a lead in this race.
Of course, though, this was no regular racetrack corner. This was more comparable to one of these corners from hell where one car crashed, forcing two others to go off-course and a fourth to crash into the first one, creating a mess of debris and confusion to navigate through. Except instead of a shower of debris, it was Yumi peppering them with electric blasts and Feng and Red trying to counter them.
It was certainly chaos, but as stated previously, the perfect kind of chaos in which to overtake the whole group and leave them in the dust. “Power through, bear boy!” Darren shouted in-between two cornering pulls of Autokinesis. “Take a couple blasts if you have to, we can take the lead!!”
Indeed, with both Feng, Yumi and Red throwing out attacks at each other, none of them would be cornering at optimal speed. Their sheer velocity and the fact that none of the attacks were aimed specifically at them meant they had their chances to power through with a minimal amount of harm. It was one hell of a ballsy gamble, jumping head-first into this live-fire bullet hell, but boldness often predated success.
Sometimes it also predated disaster, but let’s not focus on that, shall we?
The corner exit, with its lots of dangers between Miyu’s threat of transformation and Red’s fire fang attack, which their speed would make them a target of, would be left to Tsuji, however. After pulling like that all through the corner, Darren had to pause for a few seconds. He was already seeing grey -- a sign that the repeated activations in a single direction, reinforced by the centrifugal force, were forcing his blood down and away from his brain, menacing him with grey-out, which was just an euphemism for “keep doing that and you're gonna knock yourself out from lack of blood to the brain, and you'll sure as hell lose the race if you do.”
Dealing with the corner exit and any decisions that would come with it would then be entirely in Tsuji’s charge, and he had no shortage of things to contend with. Darren shouted the best encouragement he knew, which was quoting old action movies: “Go ahead bear boy, make my day!!” tl;dr: - Tsuji is running straight down the corner while Darren is in charge of forcing the two of them to turn with repeated activations of his quirk, pulling Tsuji by his clothes - They're not stopping to attack or even slowing down, just plunging down the corner as fast as possible - This means they're cornering at Tsuji's full D-rank speed, using Darren's C-rank mobility to turn, so they should be quite a bit faster through the corner than the others who stopped to attack each other -- picture it like a race car going through a corner at full throttle while blasting eurobeat, but instead of understeering and crashing into the wall they actually turn because quirk BS - As a result they'll barely dodge and likely will eat a few projectiles, relying on speed to expose themselves to the line of fire for as short a time as possible, - And Darren is out of order for a few seconds when coming out of the corner, so it's entirely up to Tsuji to deal with Miyu and Red's fire fang attack (as given their speed, I assume they would be past Red by the time he threw the attack and therefore end up on its trajectory) map: imgur.com/m4CjRv0

Seeing the commotion ahead was daunting, to say the least – Yumi's rapid lightning he'd seen before , but he never thought it could shot out and utilised quite like this. She didn't appear to be aiming anywhere specific though, so all that mattered was getting through there. Likewise with Feng and Red, their idea was pretty smart, combining Feng's fire with Red's wind to create cool looking fire projectiles that wouldn't be out of place in a fighting game. But those too were headed forward as Red charged it up, particularly towards Miyu, and while it broke his heart, Tsuji would have to put aside his friendship with her, for the sake of winning this race. In any case, it was a combat lesson, so any hard feelings wouldn't be very founded as this was a competitive affair. Whilst Tsuji continued to think about his pathway through, Darren made a move himself – Tsuji felt tugged by the neck, which resulted in possibly the oddest sensation he'd felt in a while, being pulled against his will, like he was being psychically controlled. Darren's quirk was pretty strong, being able to do something like that, and it would be of most importance to use it sparingly throughout the race. The bear adhered to his partner's words, and barrelled down the path, as fast as he possibly could, round the corner like a speed demon. But now came the harsh part – the blasts were now in range of them, and it was up to Tsuji to try and dodge them, as well as make the exit out of the corner, seeing as Darren was quirked-out for the time being. It was time to put his paw into the fray. Crashing through the corner, he adjusted his feet to push harder down slightly, simulating a brake, while his front paws kept moving, creating a drift like effect across the sand and allowing him to rush over the bridge without much issue of losing speed, however it made him open to the lightning blasts. Tsuji kept moving, focusing on keeping his speed up than putting effort into dodging the chaos, which resulted in a few near misses, however one of Yumi's bolts came a little too close for comfort, grazing his side, cutting his suit open a bit and giving him a pain there, but it wasn't too bad, just meant he'd have to go a little easier there. But at the point the duo were at now, they were still moving, and every minute moving meant another minute not losing. By the time they had gotten over the bridge and reached what was essentially a split path, Tsuji had a gut feeling to move the right, as it might simply be a long bend round to the other side, where they'd come out and reach the finish. The young bear kept pelting forward, wind rushing in his fur. A bit too much wind. Hot wind. It was Red and Feng's fiery projectile, Red had finished charging and actually sent it forward now, meaning both Tsuji and Darren were in the way of it. Looking back to see how fast it was coming up and what angle it was at, Tsuji decided to do something a little drastic. “Darren, hold on tight!” he said, and pushed his feet down once more, this time waiting until they were facing the projectile from Tsuji's injured side, leaving dust trails as the bear moved away from the projectile while facing it. It kept moving towards them, but now they were in front of it, Tsuji faced forward to the right turn, and pushed his front and back paws down, digging up as much dirt as he could, and flung it up to simulate a small dust and dirt wall, trying to put the flame out akin to a fire bucket. As he flung the dirt up, Tsuji also tried to push himself forward as fast as he possibly could down to the right hand side, getting out of the way. Well, for the most part. The tip of the slash of flame and wind caught the back of his tail, which hurt for a moment, but the rush of speed down the turn would (hopefully) put it out. “Let's keep going, you alright?” Tsuji said to his partner. After something like that, he needed to make sure that his partner was ok: the lesson was about teamwork, of course. TL;DR:
- Tsuji looks at the situation ahead, is slightly concerned - Darren's push feels weird, but still very useful as they move through the corner - Darren goes out, time for Tsuji to go for it - Moves through out of the corner and across the bridge at D-Rank speed, drifting RWD style with F-Rank mobility
- Gets hit with one of Yumi's stray bolts on his left side, can stave it off with D-Rank durability but not for long - Goes to move down to the right, notices the fire fang - Attempts to slide away while facing the projectile like this- Kicks some dirt up to create a small dust wall/smokescreen to block the fire off - Uses the kick to push forward out of the way just in case - Fire catches his tail as we dash to victory - WE DO IT

Well this hadn’t worked out as planned. It was hard for Yumi to tell as she was indiscriminately firing out in a cone ahead of her…or, technically, behind her given the nature of the race. Either way, the spark wall may have been a hard barrier to dodge but it was also blinding her a little in the process of making it. She could feel something wiz past her a few times, the feedback from the repulsive forces she put out pressing against her. The repulsive force wasn’t impossible to bypass, and Yumi was squishy as ever under the layer it provided, but the fact it actually pushed outwardly from her meant not only did it soften blows, but it could push a few near hits just enough off track to hit. Probably gave Red the impression he was a worse aim than he thought. Not that Yumi could really tell it was him firing through her own shots.
There was an eruption of flame somewhere in the mess and she could barely see some of her energy shots dispersing because of it, but beyond that it was still a mess. She had to trust if she just kept firing she could at least slow them down but before she knew it, they were getting close enough to define through the mess. Tsuji was easy enough to see, barrelling through it. She swore he was taking some shots but her energy was too dispersed from her method of firing to even slow him down much, and she was sure Darren was giving him more than just motivational support from his perch on top there. Red came through next, bursting past her on the other side, just barely managing to get through her barrage by the looks of things. Feng was still ‘behind’ her, but with 3 people making it past her without an issue, she just needed to rush after them and keep Miyu in the lead.
Throwing her hands down, they sparked briefly before calming down and clenching into fists. Sparks shot off from her back and her body zipped and zagged to follow them at a fast speed. With Darren still on Tsuji’s back and Red still in training, it wasn’t hard to catch up to all three of them, looking between them and for a moment, ignoring Feng at her back.
“Miyu!” She called out, seeing her stopped dead. “Fall down one of the other lanes! I’ll keep ‘em busy down this way!” She then turned her eyes to Darren and Tsuji, zipping after them.
“Hey Darren!” She called out, treating this a little more playfully than the sports festival, and feeling free to give him a fair shot at preventing her next move, or at least, mitigating the damage. “Remember our game of tag last year!?~”
Knowing Tsuji wasn’t there for this, she wondered if Darren would even realize what she was on about before it was too late.
With a burst of speed, she caught up to the set of them, positioning herself just behind them them as best she could in the air. When she was ready, she’d divebomb ahead of them with a burst of speed, getting in their face. She briefly tensed inward, curling up, all her electricity output receeding into her. If she didn’t have strong momentum she probably would have dropped to the ground right away because of it. There was a brief spark about her, and, assuming nothing went wrong.
“RAAAAGH!”
God, even after a year of practice with this damn thing, doing this still stung. Just when she got used to the output her quirk seemed to get stronger just to remind her that this would always be a risky move. In every direction from Yumi, she fired out thick, arcing streams of electrical energy in an all around burst. Unlike the earlier small, sharp, weakened cone of fire, this was full output. Her full potential outputted all at once in an attempt to delay Tsuji and Darren. Maybe she’d get lucky and Feng and Red would run into it too.
1.
2.
Done.
It was a lot, and it felt like it lasted a lot longer, but 2, maybe 3 seconds of this, and she was done. Not a bad thing. 3 seconds was a damn long time to output like that, but as it ended, Yumi’s quirk entirely faltered. She didn’t even have a fine blue layer of energy over her anymore. She was breathing heavily, feeling her charge building, but definitely needing a second to recover. Still, while her quirk was out, her body wasn’t, and at a pace under Olympic level for sure. She’d gained a lot of cardio training, but she still heavily relied on her quirk to surpass human limits, and for now, she was without it.
Just had to hope it was worth it…!
tldr (in advance, sorry I can’t edit a map while at work. I’m picturing Miyu still ahead, Yumi lined up with Darren, Tsuji, and Red, then tried to break ahead of them, but only barely thanks to a drop in speed.)
- Yumi watched tsuji, Darren, and red get through - left feng behind to chase after them all - Told Miyu to go down the opposite path she does. - flew after Darren and Tsuji. - Called out a call back to Darren - Dive bombed with a full discharge. - Yumi is running as best she can. Quirkless for the following post.

As it turned out, Miyu wouldn’t be frozen for long. It was only moments later that she heard the telltale sounds of almost everyone’s Quirks going off at once, followed by Darren rushing her on Tsuji-back, and Red following closely behind. With some kind of fire-y thing going on with his wind- Miyu’s body moved before her mind did, leaping into the air and transforming mid-jump. By the time she’d landed, Darren and Tsuji were already heading down one path, and she had no time to knock them off course any beyond the slight tremor her landing made. Then, Yumi came past, telling her to go down a different path. Of course, she’d just be in the way for both of them if she tried to follow Darren and Tsuji. She broke into a sprint as fast as her now-not-so-short legs could carry her, down the empty path. When she turned to look back for a second, she just caught sight of Yumi, now no longer glowing blue, and though she didn’t freeze physically Miyu did start to panic internally. It was so loud she’d missed what Yumi had done, why was her Quirk off? Was she gonna be okay? “No, no, no, no, no!” The shouts just fell from Miyu uncontrollably as she sped down the road, now back to watching where she stepped. Part of her wanted to go back, to try and help her partner, and even though she knew she should trust her plan, it got harder by the second to resist the urge. She banked around the first pit, only to immediately turn and rush down the path leading back to the other side of the fork. Last time she’d been in a combat lesson, she’d let all the stronger students go ahead, but no more! She was gonna go pick up Yumi, and they’d go together again! tl;dr just barely dodged the fire wind thing by jumping into the air and transforming landing from the transformation causes a tremor that might knock tsuji and darren a bit she rounds the first turn only to head down the way that will reunite her with yumi map
