Continuing off from this thread
The time had finally come. Everyone was present, everyone had picked up their weapon of choice from the nearby rack, and it was time to begin this lesson. Seeing as the boy's role was that of a teacher, he was feeling a mix of nervousness, curiosity, and excitement. Kenshin did not have a particular plan in mind when it came to coming up with what to teach. Still, Kenshin felt that all he needed to teach them was all that he himself had learned. Experience was the best teacher, after all. So all he had to do was essentially point his students down the right path to get them all off to a good start. Then they could just put into practice the things that he would teach them, and then they could all develop their own style from there. Seeing the students, there were certainly a variety here. One was a tall guy with white hair, one was a not as tall but still quite tall mutant that looked terrifyingly badass, and the last was the friendly winged pink-haired girl who was the only one of the three here Kenshin already knew. With a bow, he greeted the three students. "Hello. My name is Kenshin Akadama, and I'm here to teach you all about how to be better at kicking ass- er I mean using a sword." The boy figured it was best to try to keep this as professional as possible, and more importantly, just stick to the point. No need for any fancy intros or anything like that. "Before we begin, I want you all to take turns to introduce yourselves. You can say as much or as little about yourself as you want as long as you don't go overboard with it, but at the very least tell me your name and why you choose to wield your weapon. What is it you fight for?"And with that done, it was time for the introductions to begin. Kenshin was curious to see just what kind of answer the three of them would give. Once each student was done introducing themselves and answering the question, the fun could start. Kenshin could not wait to get started. | Word count: 369

Everyone has until the 20th (one week from now) to make their post. Once a week passes or everyone makes a post (whichever comes first), I'll make my next post and from there, the posting order will be established. At that point, everyone has 72 hours to make their post before moving on to the next person. Let me know if you'll be unable to post in time or need an extension. And more importantly, have fun! New posting order: Angel -> Isamu -> Daisuke -> Kenshin -> back to Angel (repeat)

Isamu had watched with interest as Tetsuko finished up her practice, noting right away that she would be a formidable opponent. Though her movements were simple, a trained eye could pick out the underlying skill and discipline. It was almost like watching his Grandfather's warm-ups. He knew that his fellow UA student was only a year older than him and that knowledge only served to add fuel to his drive and desire to better himself to achieve his goals Isamu would have to equal or surpass those that stood beside him. Not out of some quest to satisfy an inflated ego or sense of self worth, but to be the kind of Hero he had always dreamed of being, one that helped carry the burden and being strong enough so as to not add to someone else's. Today was just another step on the path to that, every piece of advice and pointer helped in the end.
As a group they were directed to choose a training weapon from amongst the rather impressive variety made available to them. It was obvious that this Dojo had no singular and exclusive school of combat, but catered to a wide variety. Why else would they keep such a plethora of training weapons? Isamu moved towards the more traditional bokken, taking up a well maintained training blade and giving it a few practice swings to judge the weighting. It would do nicely. Whilst others chose their weapons he stood back and waited for Tetsuko to speak once more, dividing those present into groups under different teachers, Isamu being grouped together with Daisuke and Angel under Kenshin. For a brief moment Isamu smarted at the idea of being instructed by someone years his junior but immediately clamped down on the thoughts. It didn't matter how old someone was, experience was all that mattered, and Isamu was confident that Kenshin wouldn't have been designated an instructor for the day if he wasn't up to the task.
A short moment after the three groups separated, Kenshin introduced himself to his students for the day, the younger boy catching himself with a rather enthusiastic look into the days activities which got a slight smirk out of Isamu. He went on to ask that those with him all introduced themselves and explained why they had chosen to pursue the art of swordplay. It reminded Isamu of his first day of class, though hopefully they could end up with much less philosophical answers as opposed to what had been given at school. Seeing a moment of hesitation from Daisuke and Angel, Isamu stepped forward.
"Good morning Kenshin-sensei," he said, bowing slightly with a smile on his face, his tone playful but not mockingly so.
"I'm Isamu Iwamoto and I've come here today for much the same reason as everyone else here, to learn what I can from others." he explained, bringing the bokken in his hands in-front of him, pointed towards the floor and resting his hands atop the 'pommel' of the training blade.
"Swordsmanship is a family tradition for the Iwamoto's, though it skipped a generation every now and then. My Grandfather was quite a well known Kendoka back in his day and he was the one to start my teaching. If you get him talking he'll chat your ear off about how he can trace our family line back centuries to a handful of influential Samurai, and while that's pretty damn awesome, I'm much more interested in the now." he began, his tone bright and cheery, making it obviously how fondly he regarded the topic he was talking about.
"I've known I've wanted to be a Hero for as long as I can remember, and I've been training with a sword for almost as long again, so it only seemed natural to combine the two interests." he said with a laugh, hoisting the bokken up onto his shoulders and lazily draping his arms over it.
"I suppose if you were asking what I fight for, I'd have to give a pretty cheesy answer. Everyone who can't fight for themselves. That's what Heroes are supposed to do at the end of the day, at least in my eyes." he finished, suddenly realizing he may have done exactly what they'd been asked not to. Feigning a bashful smile Isamu apologized.
"Sorry if that was an overshare, let's get things started yeah?" he said.
Much like Kenshin himself, Isamu was more than a little eager to begin. Sparring was one of his favorite pass-times. It allowed him to really learn the way someone might think, their strategies in battle were often pretty telling of their personality, something he had picked up on in his Grandfather's Dojo. Though not just that, it was an excellent way to train. You could learn the kata's and practice them until they were ingrained in your muscle memory, but putting them into true practice was another thing entirely. It helped refine what you had learned and Isamu felt confident that he would learn a great deal from both his young instructor and those standing beside him today.

| I t was finally time to get started! Angel and two other students were ushered with Kenshin to a room full of training weapons to choose from. Naturally Angel quickly went for a training rapier as her weapon of choice. As she got used to the lighter weight she couldn't help but pout at the fact that she hadn't been allowed to bring her own custom weapon and how light the training weapons were in contrast. As Angel stabbed and slashed at the air she listened to Kenshin ask everyone to tell the group a little about themselves. The first to speak was Isamu who began talking about how swordsmanship was deeply engrained in his blood line and how he wanted to be a hero for as long as he could remember and had been a swordsman almost as long. Angel just nodded to this fact as she had wanted to be a hero since she was the shy and fragile little girl who longed for freedom from her slaver father's evil grip. Once Isamu finished by stating that the reason he was a hero was to protect those who couldn't protect themselves Angel stepped up to take her turn with a confident smile. "Hey there everyone! I'm Angel Surami aka The Angel of mercy! As you can see my weapon of choice is a rapier! Sadly I wasn't able to bring my custom one which is a bummer, but i'll make due. I can't say I've been a swordsman as long as Isamu, but i've wanted to be a hero for just as long. I took up swordsmanship so I could fight close range with my fists, mid range with my sword and long range with my feather projectiles and because it was a natural fit with the agility my wings give me. I fight to become the world's symbol of love and tolerance and to make a world where quirkers and quirkless can live together in harmony and where no child has to worry about being abused by those who are meant to love and protect them like I did."Once she was done sharing Angel took her left wing and used it as a cape in an elegant type bow before resting it flat against her back once more. She then gave Kenshin a two fingered solute and a playful wink. "Hopefully you and I get to go at it again teach. Though if last time is any indication we might need to have class outside." |

| TAKE ME ON YOUR MIGHTY WINGS ACROSS THE SKY | |
Daisuke was never one to pass up an opportunity to hone his blades, and so there he was, ready to do just that with his twin blades gripped firmly in each hand. He remained quiet as their tutor introduced himself, though if he had had eyes he would have blinked in surprise at the fact their tutor was a boy no older than himself, possibly even younger. He was not sure quite what kind of tutor he had expected, but certainly not that. Being tutored by someone younger stung his pride a little, however he shook it off as best he could. A fight was a fight no matter who it was hosted by, he reminded himself. He was not alone, of course; two others were present with him. He recognised the one called Angel from the shape of her wings, but the other he did not recognise until he spoke. At once, all of Daisuke’s muscles tensed. He knew that voice: it was the other swordsman from the Sentai stage show. His teeth clenched and he let out an audible growl. He let Isamu speak, though, and Angel after him. The time to fight was yet to come. As soon as Angel finished he threw back his head and let out a piercing, ear-bleeding pterodactyl-like screech. “I am Daisuke!” he declared. “I am the Interceptor!” Talk was wasteful. He had nothing more to say than that, and as far as he was concerned, no need to say anything more. It was time to fight!▲

Three different people, all of them with their own reasons to use a sword. Kenshin listened to them all, with Isamu being first. The more the guy talked, the more Kenshin smiled. The two had a lot in common, with both having swordsmanship as a family tradition, both having a relative who was eager in talking about the family lineage and their link to the samurai, both sharing interest in carrying out justice from a young age and wanting to combine that with their interest in swords, and both fighting to protect those who could not defend themselves. Kenshin nodded in approval. "A very noble goal you have there."Then it was Angel's turn to talk. Like Isamu, she had quite a lot to say! Apparently, her reasons to taking up swordsmanship were twofold. First, to improve her fighting style. Second, and more importantly, to become a symbol of peace. Kenshin smiled and nodded at Angel's words as well. "Very admirable." She then expressed interest in having a spar with him. Seeing as how fun their last spar went, Kenshin looked forward to it as well. "Of course. I want to see how well you've improved since last time." And finally, there was Daisuke. Unlike the others, he did not have much to say besides his name. How intriguing. Kenshin did not know what to think of him. Did he not feel the need to explain why he chose to wield his blades? Or was he just eager to start fighting, feeling that words were meaningless? Kenshin could understand that. Fighting was a hell of a fun time, so wanting to just jump straight into the action was completely understandable. "Not much of a talker, eh? That's fine. Actions speak louder than words, after all."And with that done, it was time to start the lesson! The way Kenshin saw it, it was best to start off seeing what everyone could do at the moment. A short spar. Gauge their strength and see just how they fought, checking for anything that could see improvement. Then after the lessons, a final spar to wrap everything up and see just how much they learned. "Alright, to start things off, let's go with something simple. Using only your weapons, I want you all to try and knock my wooden sword out of my hands. Aim to disarm me while doing your best to avoid being disarmed yourselves. If you lose your weapon, you're out. The spar ends when either all of you are out, or one of you manages to make me drop my weapon. It's up to you if you wish to either fight me one-on-one or come at me all at once. Either way is fine with me, as while it's good to fight with honor, not everyone you fight will choose to fight honorably. Be prepared for anything."Once everyone was ready, Kenshin gripped his wooden sword with both hands as a sign that he was not going to hold back. He had no idea if the other students would choose to show restraint or not, but in his mind, holding back and not taking this seriously would just be disrespectful to his students. Taking a few steps back to give everyone sufficient space, Kenshin smiled as he declared the start of the match. "Begin!" | Word count: 555

| N ow things were finally starting to get good! Angel couldn't help but grin as wide as she could as she listened to Kenshin say that he would love to spar with her again to see how much she had improved. The young mutant just gave him a smirk and a thumbs up before listening to the task that he had planned for the three of them. They were either to work together or seperately to get his wooden sword out of his hand while only using their weapons which meant no quirks which meant no wings. That complicated things a bit for Angel due to how much her wings added to her agility when fighting. If they lost their weapons they were out of the match. Once the instructions were given Angel looked at the two boys she was to possibly work with. "Normally I'd be the first one to encourage teamwork, but the three of us know nothing about one another's fighting styles. We'd end up stumbling over each other. I've fought Kenshin before and can honestly say that if we went at him all at once he'd somehow get us to accidentally fight one another."Once she finished speaking Angel once again looked Daisuke and Isamu over as if she was studying them. Daisuke seemed to have a down right lust for battle and looked to be chomping at the bit. That was good for her because it meant that more then likely his lust for combat and almost savage seeming nature would cause him to slip up and lose. Isamu was a different story. He seemed to be much more disciplined and undoubtedly last quite a bit longer against Kenshin which meant not only would Kenshin end up using more of energy, but it would give Angel more time to study all three male's fighting styles. Angel just patted Isamu's shoulder with a light smile. "If you don't mind I think I'll go last. You two have fun."Since neither boy knew her all that well they hopefully wouldn't see through her plan. Kenshin however knew of her of her apptitude for combat strategy and most likely would see right though her. It would be up to him as she took a seat in a chair to call her out on it or not. |

The group Isamu had found himself a part of was certainly a mixed bag of people. He both knew and didn't know the people he'd be training with. Despite having performed alongside both Angel and Daisuke a couple of week prior in the Sentai Production at UA, Isamu was a little embarrassed that he didn't really know anything about them other than their names. Though that was something he was hoping to rectify today. If he had to put labels on the group, he himself was more the middle ground among them with Angel taking the moral high-road with a very admirable if not slightly naive outlook on life. That's not to say Isamu disagreed that such a thing should be attempted, he was just doubtful that one person would be able to bear that burden on one set of shoulders. Daisuke, well, he was rather simple to understand, his and Isamu's performance together at the Sentai Production making that readily clear. He was The Interceptor through and through.
Kenshin went on to describe how he wanted to proceed with the lesson, thankfully with sparring involved. Disarming was the aim of the game it seemed and it was something Isamu was fairly familiar with as it was an exercise his Grandfather had often put to him. The concept was easy to understand, in a contest between two swordsman the combatant with a sword was much more likely to prevail against the combatant who didn't. Taking away your opponents weapon didn't tend to be simple but it was certainly more than a little effective in changing the flow of a fight. Even more so that they had the restriction placed on them that the exercise was to be conducted with only the use of their chosen training weapons, meaning no Quirks allowed. That was more than fair Isamu thought, after-all the day was about improving their swordsmanship, bringing Quirks into things would only stifle that. Sure, if he was allowed to make use of his Quirk Isamu could more than likely perform the task with ease, but he didn't want that, not by a long shot. The handicap only served to feed his eagerness.
The idea of fighting together against their temporary sensei wasn't one that sat well with Isamu and it seemed it was a feeling that Angel echoed. He reasoning was sound and along the same lines as Isamu's. They didn't know how each other preferred to fight, though Isamu had a sneaking suspicion that at least for Daisuke it was to fight alone, without anyone else distracting him or simply getting in his way. Isamu felt somewhat the same, though from a more traditionalist viewpoint. This was not true combat, and though he much preferred the wild unpredictability that it brought, Isamu knew that it had no place in the Dojo. Here he was comport himself with the honor and respect that his Grandfather had instilled into him over the long years of training. His own personal skills would see little to no benefit from fighting alongside others. If they were to complete the exercise put before them, it would be alone.
Now all that would have to be decided was the order in which they would spar with Kenshin. Isamu had preference on going last, not because of any hint of nervousness or anything of the sort. It was simply another lesson he had learnt years ago. Knowledge was power when it came to fighting. Knowledge of how your opponent thought and fought would allow you to adapt to them and hopefully counter their techniques. The more Isamu saw Kenshin fight, especially against two people who he suspected had very different fighting styles, the better prepared he would be when it came time for him to make the attempt. Before he could voice any of such preferences, a small hand rested itself briefly on his shoulder. The deceptively devilish girl had beaten him to the punch, expressing her own desire to wait things out and take her turn last. The smile on her face was serene and kind, but Isamu could see calculating look in her eyes. She was thinking much the same thing. From her prior admission she had fought Kenshin on at least one occasion before today, so either she was attempting to discern if his fighting style had evolved since then, or more likely she was trying to feel out Isamu and Daisuke both, on the chance that they would be sparring each other at some point later on.
"Clever Girl." Isamu thought, smiling softly as he quoted the old classic to himself. Either way he sliced it, Isamu was going to miss out on 'research'. Though he didn't mind all that much, sure he was competitive and loved a challenge, but it was nothing to get all tied up in knots about. If anything it only added to the challenge before him. He had next to no idea how Kenshin fought, only that it was obvious he was skilled otherwise he wouldn't have been put in charge of three people a few years his senior. Still, Isamu figured he could get some last minute research in. Looking over at Angel with a knowing smile he nodded.
"Fair enough," he began before turning to look in Daisuke's direction. "How about it Interceptor? Want to show everyone what you can do?" he said, hopefully goading the boy into action. If anything Daisuke looked almost too eager to begin and it only served to remind Isamu about the Sentai Production. He hadn't been quite sure of the reasoning then, but the Jet powered boy had been almost chomping at the bit to fight even if it was just mock fighting. With any luck he might be able to force a few specialist moves out of Kenshin and allow Isamu to more accurately gauge the challenge he was up against. Either way, Isamu knew that the day had only just begun, the fun was about to start.

Blah blah blah, so much talk, so little action. Daisuke shuffled on his feet with burning impatience. As eager as he was to crack skulls, however, he was not completely single-minded and ignorant. He glanced at his two peers for a moment, then at Kenshin. What were they thinking? He was unable to see facial expressions, so he had only his own assumptions to go on. He let out a low growl as both of his peers opted to stay back like utter cowards. I bet they probably think they have me all figured out.And Daisuke was indeed wild, he was indeed a lover of all things battle, but that did not mean he was stupid. He could tell they expected him to be their test dummy, the one who would charge right at Kenshin and get destroyed so they could see how Kenshin fought and work out their own plans to take him down. Well, that was not going to happen. With a roar and nothing else, Daisuke moved to seize Isamu and hurl him with all his might in Kenshin’s direction. Isamu was not going to get the privilege of hanging back and letting Daisuke take a hit for him, no way. If Daisuke succeeded in this, as Isamu reached Kenshin he would attempt to run up Isamu’s back and strike downwards at Kenshin with one of his blades. ▲

Kenshin was curious to see just how the three would approach the challenge laid out for them. Would they attempt to work together to take him on? Or would they fight separately so as not to get in each other's way? There was no right or wrong answer here. Kenshin just wanted to see what they thought would be the best approach. Angel then spoke, saying that she wished to go last, letting Daisuke and Isamu fight Kenshin first. How interesting, Kenshin thought. There were many possible reasons as to why Angel made her choice. One of the most obvious reasons being that she wished to see how Kenshin fought so then she could make a plan to counter him. And with her choosing to fight him last, she would get to see more of Kenshin's fighting, and thus be more prepared. Knowledge is power, after all, so the boy could not fault her for thinking to do that. If that's your strategy, then not bad.Isamu had apparently reached the same conclusion and thus apparently was goading Daisuke into springing into action first. Well if that was the general consensus, then so much for teamwork. One-on-one sparring it is, then! Kenshin then had a devious thought. What if I choose to attack those two first and not give them the chance to analyze my moves? Would they be able to improvise on the spot?So that left Daisuke, who had seemingly been forced to take the initiative. But then Daisuke ended up being the one to surprise Kenshin the most. Rather than just attack, his plan was to try to grab Isamu and use him as a weapon. Holy shit! Rather unorthodox, and technically bending the rule of only using his weapon, but Kenshin decided to let it slide, being rather impressed by the unorthodox strategy and trying to use an improvised weapon in the form of Isamu. Besides, in real life, not everyone played by the rules. What happened next would depend on whether or not Daisuke's move worked. If he was successful in grabbing and throwing Isamu, Kenshin would try to dodge Isamu and raise his wooden sword in a defensive stance to block Daisuke's incoming attack. He would then try to push Daisuke's blade away and move away from him to try to run towards Angel to fight her. If Isamu either dodged Daisuke's attack or began to attack in retaliation, Kenshin would then rush straight to Angel, ignoring the other two unless they tried to intercept his attack. Whatever the case was, Kenshin's primary goal was to take whatever strategy each student thought of and try his best to make their plans come crashing down so he could force them to think of something else. After all, not every well thought out strategy went according to plan, so it was important to see if any of them could change their plan on the fly. Could they all improvise? Or were they doomed to lose this little exercise before it even began? Well there was only one way to find out! | Word count: 515

| I t seemed as things were going as Angel had planned them! Isamu quickly chose to follow her lead and volunteer their seemingly battle rabid companion to take the first crack at their tutor which made Angel smirk to herself. That was until the rabid fighter attempted to grab Isamu and down right throw him at Kenshin before lunging with almost murderous intent at their training as a follow up attack. If she was anyone else facing any old teacher Angel would have just let the display play out and fail while enjoying the show, but they were up against Kenshin which meant that she had to be on her guard. "Bring it Kenshin."As if on a timer Kenshin began to rush her as she got into her normal sword fighting stance and dug in her right heel up against the wall she had been leaning against. She then took in and exhaled a slow deep breath as she worked to slow her heart rate and the world around her as she focused her instincts while Kenshin grew closer. As Angel's breath hit the air she pressed off of the wall with all of her strength leaving pressure cracks into it causing her body to launch at Kenshin in a pink blur of speed. As she got within inches of him Angel quickly spread her left wing to block Kenshin's strike by trying to shove him back with it. She then would use her sword arm to try and deliver five quick rapier thrusts at her friends chest while her mind quickly planned at the same time. They had to act fast if they were going to keep Kenshin off guard and unable to overwhelm them. "Isamu! sweep for his feet! Interceptor! Control yourself long enough to go with his sword hand! We can't afford to allow him to plan or decide to break his own rule and activate his quirk! One on one is off the table! I've faced him before so please follow my lead!"Weather or not the two men decided to follow the Angel of Mercy's lead was the unanswered question that would determain what the young swordswoman did next. |

Things hadn't exactly gone the way he had been expecting. Isamu couldn't quite pinpoint the moment everything had fallen apart but he was fairly sure it was some time between when he had motioned Daisuke forwards and when the aforementioned boy had bodily tossed him towards their instructor for the day..... Still, Isamu wasn't made, quite the opposite in fact. A wicked smile plastered across his face as he regained control of his own momentum, an excited laugh escaping his lips. This certainly changed things up a little but it could not be said that the little spar that they had ahead of themselves would be boring now. At the very least Isamu now had a better idea of where Daisuke's head was at. He wasn't just the slavering beast that he might sometimes resemble, there was a method to the madness. Isamu decided to roll with it, literally.
Using his newfound momentum Isamu fell into a roll, coming up and executing a horizontal slash at Kenshin's legs in the same movement. The reasoning was two-fold. One, Isamu wanted to either gain a little distance between himself and his instructor for the day if Kenshin opted to backpedal to dodge. Two, he could already hear the thundering steps directly behind him and Isamu had a good idea what Daisuke was up to. With his attack executed, Isamu braced himself on one knee as Daisuke used his prone form to vault high into the air, seeking a powerful downwards strike on Kenshin. With his impromptu team mate above him Isamu struck out once more, hoping to put Kenshin off balance defending from two angles at once. With Daisuke dropping down from on high, Isamu whipped himself upwards and around with speed, seeking to attack Kenshin with a whirlwind strike to the torso as he sought to block Daisuke's strike.
If one on one match ups were off the table, then Isamu would gladly play along. While he much preferred the thrill of pitting his skill, and only his skill alone against his opponent, he knew now that today would likely not be one of those days. Still this was already fun and would likely become more so the longer the spar continued. If only they had been allowed to utilize their Quirks, then things would be much, much more interesting Isamu thought. He always loved combining two of his favorite things together. Quirks and Swordplay.

Welp, this died. F. Gonna go submit this thread now, but here's a tl;dr of what would have happened in case anyone ever wants to reference the events of this thread: Nobody managed to disarm Kenshin first time around Kenshin gives the three swordsmanship advice, showing demonstrations of various sword techniques and what to do in various situations He puts the three through various exercises After the lesson, Kenshin instructs everyone to try once again to disarm him with swords only, though this time he isn't holding back All three students manage to successfully disarm Kenshin this time The lesson is now over, and everyone goes home having learned several useful sword techniques and advice So sorry for having let this die. I'll do better next time. ;-; Angel Surami Isamu Iwamoto Daisuke Ishino
