Defeat. Such a thing was never pleasant for Kenshin. He was always one who wanted to win a satisfying victory. Not only did it feel good to win, but as a warrior of justice, he could not afford to ever lose. Losing against anyone meant that even a villain would be able to beat him. There was no way Kenshin would ever accept that! He needed to be strong. Strong enough to protect the innocent, those who could not protect themselves. He needed to be able to overpower any villain. After all, he could not always rely on the police, heroes, or other vigilantes to fight off villainy. Still, not all losses were bad. There was always something to learn from the experience, a lesson to remember. What he did wrong, certain areas he could have done better in, things that were outside of his control. Even though the spar was over, Kenshin would need to take the lesson to heart. That way, he could grow from it and avoid the mistakes he had made. After Caitlyn asked the boy what he had learned, Kenshin had his answer ready. "There are several things I learned, Seonsaeng. First, you're very strong! No wonder you're a pro! Second, brute force is not always the answer to everything. It certainly didn't help me. I could have analyzed your constructs' abilities and not be reckless with my attacks. Third, I need to learn how to fight without relying on my quirk. That way, I'm not just a sitting duck in a combat situation. And finally, the time limit of my quirk is very inconvenient and annoying. It's something I need to work on. If I could somehow either bypass or remove that limit altogether and be able to keep on fighting, it would be an immense help." Kenshin was not sure if such a thing was even possible. Still, he needed to try. To make an uncertainty not only possible, but inevitable. "This was a very illuminating experience. Thank you so much!" With a smile, the boy bowed to his spider sensei. He appreciated the time she took from her day to give the boy this bit of training. Now it was up to him to make sure that the time Army of One spent on him did not go to waste. With the training session being over, Kenshin wondered what came next. Would Army of One explain to him just what he could do to improve? Was there another lesson? Or was it time for him to leave now? Regardless, Kenshin definitely enjoyed the experience. | Word count: 432 Notes: "There are no lessons learned in victory, but a thousand in defeat." -I forgot who said this tbh |
