Demon Machine i no longer fear ending my hell A nice opportunity had presented itself and Nyke was sure to take full advantage of it. A military based opened up to the public, specifically for quirk users. The world was changing and warfare was doing the same. Quirks were being implemented in combat and the Japanese army was keen on doing the same. But they needed to see just how useful quirks could be to them and thus, the invitation. Nyke was interested in visiting the base for her own reasons. She wanted to see the weapons and technology the army base had for her own creations. She was set on making robots for the students of Yuuei to fight in becoming heroes, so she wanted to visit the base for ideas and suggestions for different things to make.
And with her, she was going to bring along one of the club members to her unofficial Robotics club. The girl was Kyla Casey, a classmate and someone that was very good at the business side of things. She was the one able to negotiate the deal with her father, which was a truly impressive feat in its own right. The two would arrive at the base together straight from school. As such, Nyke was dressed in her school uniform. The small girl didn't take up much space and her uniform was a good way to signify where she was from and why she was here. After all, just because it was open to the public didn't mean that just anyone could walk in at any time. That was a threat to national security. Her uniform was the same as most others aside from one key change. Her skirt had a slit in the back portion for her tail. Nyke had a mutation quirk and it needed to be tailored to make space for her tail.
It was uncomfortable to wear clothes that didn't make this kind of accommodation and with the growing number of quirks, the need for special clothes like this was increasing as well. At the moment, the girls were at the front of the base. They needed to be checked in and escorted to the place they wanted to go, the armory. Obvious, the governments most secret weapons wouldn't be in there, but things that would be more advanced than what the regular populace saw was sure to be housed there in some fashion. That was Nyke's hope anyway. As she approached the guard station, she walked to the gate to state her intentions to the person on duty.
"A tour..."
She muttered without much else. The man on duty looked down at her a bit confused and expecting her to same a little more. Just saying a tour wasn't enough after all.
"Cool weapons."
She added. Again, it wasn't much, but as long as she had an escort watching what she was doing and where she was going. She was patted down and checked for anything that wasn't allowed on the base, which made Nyke uncomfortable. It was awkward being touched in that way, but sure enough, as soon as it was done, she was allowed inside. She quickly moved through the gate and waited for Kyla. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

You leave me here wondering if I'll ever know How much you care, or how much you don't If you're going to be somebody's last time, baby be mine. “ With the concept in, Kyla and Nyke were going to start their venture into upping Yuuei's ability to test their students. SO far, cardboard cutouts and mannequins were all they had, but if they could have something that fought back that wasn't just the students, surely they could get some better training. The students were becoming powerful and the basic things the school had just weren't cutting it. But you know who did have that kind of technology? The Japanese Military. With their taking the first steps into the hero profession, surely they were in the front of the market as a whole. At least, that was how Kyla saw it. Sure, they weren't the only ones. A number of countries had a big growing hero culture, including her own home country. So with Semper Fi open, there was a chance to learn a lot about the tech they had and what they could implement into their own designs when the time came. There were still a lot of questions to answer, but what was important was making sure what they wanted to do was even possible. Kyla was to meet with Nyke at the military base. She came as soon as she finished what she had to get done back on campus and was settled for the day. Even though it was open to those with quirks, there was the guard station that made sure the base stayed as secure as possible. Just because they were opening up didn't mean that people could walk in freely. Spies and such still existed, so escorts were still needed and the entire base wasn't free to roam. She approached and had to move through the metal detector. It was a part of the security she always failed because of her Nasod Core. The traces of metal that adorned her forehead around her core was enough to set it off. She when the machine beeped, Kyla already knew to step aside so that she could get checked out. "It's my core." She answered plainly, preemptively answering the question before it was even asked. She knew they couldn't take her word for it, but Kyla couldn't help but try to explain herself. And sure enough, when the guard came over with the wand, it beeped at the three prime locations of her nodes. It was a bit embarrassing to have her body scanned like that, but security was important as well. Her wrists, black, and head all set off the machine. She. of course, when on to show her nodes and her identification. Her quirk was registered with her school, so surely they had it on file right? Either way, once everything was checked out, Kyla was free to pass and once she was passed the gates she looked for Nyke. The dark skin short girl wasn't all that hard to find. Smiling if she could, Kyla raised her hand up and waved to her. "I made it! You have an escort yet?" She asked, looking around Nyke to see if they were ready to go. ”

Demon Machine i no longer fear ending my hell Nyke watched the gate as she waited for her classmates. And before long, the girl was moving through security like everyone else had to. Oddly enough, she was detected by the metal detector, which Nyke should have been a victim of as well. She had much more metal within her than Kyla did. In fact, it was a food group for her. Fortunately, Nyke always knew to skip those altogether. It was why she went directly to the part where she was patted down before she could get through. Hopefully, with a better understanding of quirks, the way security was handled could change. Weapons weren't made of metal and quirks interfered with all kinds of security measures nowadays. But now that it was done, the two could move on.
"Not yet."
She said to the white-haired girl. There was something oddly angelic about Kyla. It was an odd and stark contrast to Nyke, who was more demonic when it came to her appearance. The two were different int he subtle way, but they shared a common interest. The weapons the army had could make amazing tools for the robots they wanted to build for the school. Nonlethal versions of whatever they had would be great for teaching heroism. But to do that, the two needed to get escorted to the armory. They weren't the only ones looking for directions, a tour, and an escort, so she moved into the makeshift line that had formed near the front of the base. Other citizens and even students were here to provide what they could to the military base. They were interested in quirks, not just the hero students, so it was interesting to see who else took the opportunity to come. And soon enough, the two students had their turn.
"The Armory."
Nyke said simple to the man that was directing everyone else. Once again she got a blank stare as the person waited for her to say more. Nyke was used to the long pauses with those that didn't know about the way she spoke. She used so few words that many people overthought her intentions and needs. But, after realizing that was all she wanted, he responded with a confused "okay." and waved over another guard. It was here that the man nodded and walked off to bring over a vehicle to drive them over in. It was a truck that was going to seat everyone that wanted to see the part of the armory that was opened for viewing. The truck pulled up to the side of the road they were allowed to board. When it came to Nyke's turn, she hesitated a bit. SHe ended to be careful with her weight so that she didn't shift the truck too much. She took slow and careful steps and made her way to the middle of the vehicle so that her weight could be evenly distributed. A brief sigh left her lips as she found a seat and waited for Kyla to board. Once she and the others got on, the truck would pull off and they would be on the way toward their destination. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

You leave me here wondering if I'll ever know How much you care, or how much you don't If you're going to be somebody's last time, baby be mine. “ It seemed like Kyla had made it right on time. They could wait for an escort together and talk a bit before they reached the Armory. "Alright then." She replied as she moved over into the line with NYke. It seemed like the base was pretty popular now that it was open. Between curiosity and appreciation, the Japanese military was something that many people wanted to see. She knew that at home, the military was in a contentious spot. Many people loved them for protecting them from the rest of the world while others condemned them for existing. Kyla felt like it was probably the same in most countries. While in line for the escort, Kyla looked around at the others in the base and in the line. Behind them was a pretty shady person. They wore a hoodie and seemed like they wanted to keep their presence nondescript. How they were going to do that on a military base was beyond Kyla, but she wasn't too worried about it, at least not yet. The truck that came around was one of the ones you'd expect to see in a movie about the military. It was like an extended jeep that could seat a whole squad of people. She moved on to board it along with Nyke and went on behind her. She noticed the girl take her time getting on the truck and was a little worried for her. Her weight seemed troublesome for a lot of things, even something as simple as getting into a truck. As far as mutations went, Kyla made out pretty good. She still had to be protective of her core, but Nyke had to be a lot more careful with hers. She could even see the vehicle move a bit as Nyke moved about. Kyla was quick to follow the small girl so that she didn't feel like she was being singled out and took a seat next to her. The truck was open, which meant the wind was going t be blowing passed them all as they drove. Kyla took a moment to moved her hair from in front of her face so it would blow all over it. It was something she did out of habit because of how she wore her hair. She sat down and placed her hands in her lap. The weird guy from before also got on the truck and was among the few people going to the Armory. He sat near the back and seemed to be by himself in all this. Looking over at Nyke, Kyla leaned toward her a bit. "Is this base the first one you've been to? My dad said I was born when he was still in the military, but I don't remember anything like this." She explained as she looked out at the base while finishing what she was saying. "I can only imagine what kind of arms deals they get from defense companies. With quirks around, weapons really need an upgrade."”

Demon Machine i no longer fear ending my hell Nyke watched silently as Kyl got on the truck and sat next to her. She moved out of the way so that Kyla could sit closer to the edge and Nyke could stay near the center. Most people didn't think about that kind of thing, but Nyke always had to be conscious of it. As for the wind and her hair, Nyke didn't have much to worry about. She kept her hair short and the wind wasn't going to bother her. It would take a lot of wind speed to make Nyke move at all. Once everyone was boarded, the truck pulled off and started toward the Armory. The base was actually quite big and took up a lot of real estate, so there was going to be a good ten minutes before they reached the area they needed to be in. Kyla decided to fill that time with conversation and Nyke nodded her head to her first question.
"My first."
Semper Fi was Nyke's first military base. There was no doubt that her father's company did business with them, but Neither he or Nyke went on to the bases. It just wasn't something that seemed to happen just yet. Her father had no reason to go their personally and usually met with officials when he needed to off the base. Likewise, Nyke had no interest in them until now. She didn't even know where any were in her home country. Now that she wanted to use their weapons for ideas though, Nyke made a mental note to visit a base there to see what could be offered. Hearing that Kyla had been on one before was interesting though. Her father was in the military and it was pretty unexpected.
"What did he do?"
She asked and was curious as to the kind of person that was Kyla's father. The only example she had was her own and that wasn't a good example at all. What Nyke considered to be a normal father wasn't what her father was, but she still had her perception skewed by the terrible things that he did. Her tone was one of interest, similar to when she spoke about the machines she wanted to create. It also reminded her of the dread she was going to feel when she had to ask her father for help. Sure, they were going to start a robotic's club, but to make something usable meant they needed a professional touch.
Either way, whether Kyla answered or not, they would reach the Armory in record time. It seemed like the guard was actually kind of excited to show off what the base had to offer and wanted them to get a proper tour of what was available. Nyke exited the vehicle once the people in front of her did and took a moment to stretch. She had plenty of room to move around on the truck since she didn't take up much space but did her best not to because she was afraid of adversely affecting the truck. Stepping down back to the ground, she looked up at the buildings and hangers that housed the weapons the military had. The part they were going to see obviously did have their best stuff, but the majority of it was real. They were going to get a good viewing from a safe distance. But for now, a head count was to be down, base security and all. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

You leave me here wondering if I'll ever know How much you care, or how much you don't If you're going to be somebody's last time, baby be mine. “ Kyla was a bit surprised that Nyke took an interest in her father. Asking some follow up questions was something she didn't expect from the girl Someone so little of conversation kind of just let things go as they were spoken, but it seemed being stuck in the vehicle made her a little more talkative. Maybe Kyla could get a whole sentence out of her. "I don't really know." She started as she put a finger to her chin. She would be wearing a more thoughtful expression, but her face didn't move much. It kept to the straight face she usually had very little emotion on it. "I'm happy you asked though. I know that he did some programming and stuff. He taught me a bit on the days he came home." Her father wasn't a soldier. He wasn't one of the people n the front lines. Instead, he was the backup. He kept the systems running and the computers in order so that the one's fighting could use them without having to worry about them failing. It was easy to overlook what he did, but it was also important. Who knew how many lives he saved with his work. However, that was in the past. He was a civilian now and used his skill with computers in the private industry. It was also what he taught Kyla and why she knew what she knew. It was her main skill in helping out with Nyke's project and why they were at the Armory in the first place. "How about yours?" She asked as the truck came to a stop. Before she knew it, they were there and she could see the different buildings she assumed held weapons. A gaping mouth emoji appeared on her Nasod core with a yellow light as she looked around at what was there. Though she couldn't express her emotions with her face, her core often communicated them without her control. "There's a lot more than I thought there was." She exclaimed as she got off the truck and stood next to Nyke. The strange man hopped off the back of the truck and went off in his own direction. As suspicious as he was, he didn't seem to bother anyone, so maybe it was safe to ignore him now. It seemed like he just wanted to avoid too much attention, so as soon as the head count was done, he did his best to get out fo view. During it, however, Kyla looked to see which of the buildings they were going to go to. They obviously weren't going to be allowed wear the live ammunition was, but a display of different weapons would work well enough for what they wanted to see. Her eyes eventually wanted on a large hanger. She pointed it out with her thumb and tapped on Nyke's shoulder. "Let's go over there first. Vehicles are good for checking out methods of locomotion." She started. In a setting of many different scenarios, having many different forms of movement would be beneficial for mixing things up with the robots. ”

Demon Machine i no longer fear ending my hell Nyke was worried about the question being turned back on her. She wasn't a huge fan of her father and liked talking about him even less. It wasn't just about the things he did to her. It was the whole idea of becoming the mascot of his company. She didn't want to serve as a tool for him to promote his business. It was the whole reason he enrolled her in the school in the first place. But Nyke wanted to be a hero for her own sake. She wanted to protect others and help those that needed help as she did when she was with her father. It was oddly noble of her, but that was the reason most of the students in the school picked this as their profession. As for Kyla's question, he'd give a simple, yet surprising answer.
"CEO of Hellion."
For some, that wouldn't mean much at all. Hellion's Japanese market was actually pretty small. It was a strong American company that was present there, Canada, and even part of Europe. It was a technology company looking to make a foray into Japan's new hero profession. It market that was equipment for a hero was a brand new one and a real power company hadn't formed just yet for them. Hellion looked to corner that market, using Nyke as their pristine example of what a hero was. And sadly, Nyke was going to have to use some of Hellion's resources for the robots she wanted to make. While the girls were enthusiastic, they were years off from being truly component at making functioning robots. Help from real professionals was going to go a long way for them.
There were a couple of places the two of them could go. They could follow the tour guide that was going to take them around to each of the visitable buildings. They could also go off on their own and visit them in their own order. ANd with Kyla's remarked, it seemed like that was what she wanted to do. Nyke looked in the direction of the building and nodded her head. Getting some semblance of how they wanted to do things was a good idea. The various vehicles and designs were a good thing to get them started.
"That's fine."
She answered in simple agreement and started off toward the building. Like just about everything else in the base, it was guarded. It was just a single person keeping track of who entered and exited the building. There was something oppressive about how much monitoring there was, but it made sense for a military base. Inside was very big as if the walls of the hanger were a thin shell. A number of tanks and trucks were on display on the ground while a few of the smaller plans hung from the air. It wasn't just the modern stuff either. The older planes were being shown and put up on display. The base wanted the visitors to get a view of their history and wanted them to compare their quirks to how advanced a machine was based on how old they were. But no matter how small or fragile the craft looked, they all had weapons on them.
"Even lightweights had weapons." Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

You leave me here wondering if I'll ever know How much you care, or how much you don't If you're going to be somebody's last time, baby be mine. “ Kyla couldn't help but be taken aback by the news. She followed the business world more than most students did and knew full well what Hellion was. They were a good business that made a lot of quality products. She even owned a few of them herself. They had their hands in all kinds of technology and competed with the top brands in America. She knew about the investments they undertook to created a market in Japan and was excited to see what was going to come out of that. But to think she would get in so close to the company was overwhelming. here she was going into a tech project with the daughter oft he CEO of Hellion! Kyla's core at this point was static as she tried to process what she had learned. And after some time, it eventually set itself on a surprised face emoji as she looked at Nyke. "R-really?" She questioned. She could see the resemblance between the man that led the company and Nyke, but she never really put it together. There was a brief pause of silence as Kyla pulled her phone from her purse to search this up on her own. It wasn't that she didn't believe Nyke. If someone was trying to use being the daughter of some big company, they would have done it back when they first introduced the idea of the project. Instead, Nyke held on to the information and only answered when asked. It added validity to it in Kyla's mind. And sure enough, after glancing through a quick image search of the man showed a girl that looked like a younger version of Nyke. It took a bit of scrolling, but it seemed like he did have her on display in public a few rare times. "You are just as cute as you were before Nyke," Kyla said with an assumed chuckle as she looked at the smaller version of the girl. It was hard to imagine her being any shorter, but here she was. She lowered her phone so that Nyke could see which picture it was. Once they got into the hangar Kyla looked up at the planes hanging from the roof and nodded. "Yeah, they are weapons of war after all." She stepped forward to see if she could get a better angle. "Are we allowed to take pictures here?" She questioned. If they could get a quick record of a few things, they could use them as a reference when they were designing the robots and machines based on them. That way they didn't have to remember every detail of everything they were looking at now. Kyla then moved over to one of the older tanks and noted the similar design between them all. It was a solid design and one they could sue for the tougher machines they wanted to make. And if what Nyke said was true, getting the resources needed to put them together meant they could go a little wild. "You think we can make that cannon into something non-lethal?" She ask, pointing up to the tank's main weapon. ”

Demon Machine i no longer fear ending my hell Nyke was equally surprised that Kyla not only knew the name but also knew enough about her father to believe what Nyke had said. It was really easy to assume that she was just lying with the classic 'I have an uncle at Ninetendo' thing, but Kyla seemed to believe her. And that meant she at least knew what her father looked like. he didn't do a whole lot of public appearances, but when he did, people paid attention. What was even more shocking was that Kyla was able to find a picture of Nyke with her father when she was younger. It was at an event dinner and much like now, she was very quiet and shy. In the photo, she wore a cute frilly black dress and stood behind her father as if to hide from the camera. The photo was a whole eight years ago and Nyke barely remembered it. The comment about her being cute and retaining that cuteness made her blush a bit as she looked down at the photo on Kyla's phone.
"Family fundraising dinner."
Her father wanted to show that he, too, was a family man and cared about what his products did and how well they helped out the modern family. It was easy to write that off as some business tagline, but her father was pretty honest when it came to the business. He was honest about what he was doing, but he still needed Nyke to put a face behind his words. Being a single father was a strong characteristic for him and it actually made people trust the man more. If only they knew what Nyke knew. Putting that aside, she walked over to the tank and looked up at the plane. She understood why such a heavy weapon couldn't be mounted on a plane, but the idea of getting one to work was pretty cool. It might not have been practical, but these machines were just for training, not a real battle. Maybe they could do something a little more wacky with it.
"Lower the power."
Yes, a literal tank mounted cannon was outside of their capabilities, but with a different source of firing and a different kind of ammunition, it could be usable. An arm cannon or shoulder cannon of some kind that was smaller would make sense. Maybe if it shot something like a bean bag or smoke bomb that would make sense. She motioned to her arm and shoulder while looking at Kyla to express the interest in placing a cannon on there somewhere. As for taking pictures, one of the soldiers hanging around the hangar spoke up. "No photo's ma'am, but I have this for you." He explained. Photography could easily be a security risk, but they did have a pamphlet that showed the history of the vehicles displayed there. They could use the pictures there as a reference for later in place of photos. Sure, they wouldn't get the angle they wanted, but this was the best they could do for now. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

You leave me here wondering if I'll ever know How much you care, or how much you don't If you're going to be somebody's last time, baby be mine. “ A family photo like that seemed really nice. Hearing that it was for a dinner meant that her father cared about her enough to include her in his business affairs. At least, that was how she saw it. She knew a number of people that weren't really close to their parents. It seemed like some kind of trope for teenagers to be completely disassociated from their parents. But Kyla was close to her parents and she was glad to see that Nyke had a relationship with her father as well. Of course, she didn't know to what extent, but this photo was enough to make Kyla think that it was a decent one. Kyla got the feeling Nyke didn't change much as she grew up and even back then she was as quiet and minimal as she was now. But all that did was add to how cute she was. Shy little girls were like that. As for the cannon, Kyla nodded as Nyke motioned to the spots where she wanted one at. "That could work if they are sturdy enough. And I guess making the cannon smaller will make that work, which will make them less lethal. That makes sense!" Kyla responded. They had some good ideas, but everything was still just theory. Then, much to her surprise, as many things were today, a soldier handed her a pamphlet and told her to put her hone away. "Oh! Sorry..." She said as she rubbed the back of her head nervously. It didn't seem genuine because of Kyla's lack of facial expressions, but she didn't mean to do anything she wasn't supposed to do. She slipped her phone back into her purse and then opened up the pamphlet to get a look at what they had to work with It had pictures and listings of everything in the hangar they were in. Model numbers and certain specifications were listed in individual sections so that it was easy to understand. It wasn't the best, but it was a good start for what the girls wanted to do. "Okay, I get this. This is actually really good. We can use bases as wide as the tanks for big stationary guns. Make a really good fortress scenario." The ideas were swarming in her head now. How cool would it be if one of the rescue classes was like the introductory class? But instead of cardboard, they had a whole array of weapons and robots to go up against instead of the basic stuff they had now. "Maybe we should find more of the weapons. They should have more than just guns right?" She asked as she looked up and around the hangar. It seemed like this place as just for vehicles, so maybe one of the other buildings had the smaller handheld weapons. So if Nyke was done here as well, they could go over to one of the other buildings and check those out. Now that they had the pamphlet and saw the different planes and tanks they would mostly done with that part. ”

Demon Machine i no longer fear ending my hell Myke nodded and make a note in her head to make sure they built sturdy enough machines to handle the bigger weapons. The idea of having lighter mobile machines like the planes and then heavier power machines like the tanks was a good one. The variety meant they needed different approaches to the situation and different quirks would be useful to in fighting them. Not all quirks were heavily combat focused, so making machines that could be dismantled by those with utility quirks was important too. The robots weren't much use if they didn't cover all the basis. Forcing people to use more tactics than brute force was important for preparation to be a hero. When Kyla opened up the pamphlet, Nyke leaned over to get a look at it as well.
There were a lot of different machines. Even if they looked similar, each one had a few differences here and there that improved them or made them more useful for different methods of attack. Anti-aircraft tanks had completely different weaponry than the ones with the cannons. And to facilitate those weapons, the body of the tank needed different sizes and weights to handle the power. How interesting was all that? And how fun would it be to break through that overwhelming force. But just the vehicles weren't going to do. As Kyla pointed out, they needed to look at the weapons as well. Once again, they didn't need to be lethal like the ones the military used, but seeing how the weapons evolved as time went on could show them what kind of possibilities they had.
"Okay."
Nyke answered back to her as she thought over a fortress idea in her head If they had a big area like the base did for their rescue training, they could make some really unique and interesting scenarios. With that in mind, she headed for the exit of the hangar and back t the outside. It was righter than she expected as she opened the door, so she used her other hand and placed it on her forehead to cover her eyes like a visor. The hangar was really dark for whatever reason, likely to keep it secure in some way. As thin as it looked, it was entirely possible that it was made with material to prevent it from being scanned from the outside. Preventing satellite or fly over intelligence was important after all. Across the wide road were a few buildings. An administrative office and two other unmarked buildings, On the one to the right, was the tour guide group leaving the building and head for the administrative office. It was likely they were going to meet with the people in charge of the armory and such. So the building they just left was probably where the girls wanted to go. Nyke pointed it out to Kyla to see if she agreed with that idea.
"Try to find different types."
Obviously, there was going to be many different types of rifles and side arms. But their goal was to find the more unique stuff. One could only reinvent the basic gun so many time non-lethally. But checking out different types of ammunition and their method of being fired would be helpful when they implemented the non-lethal versions. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

You leave me here wondering if I'll ever know How much you care, or how much you don't If you're going to be somebody's last time, baby be mine. “ Kyla was glad to see Nyke on board with the ideas she had. Much of this seemed like a programming nightmare, but if she really had connections at Hellion then Kyla could get the assistance she needed to create a scenario like that. It was amazing to see how much closer to a reality it all was. But that didn't mean that Kyla could just let them do all the work. This was their project and the students involved in it had to be at the forefront. Kyla didn't get on this project just to step aside and let someone else do all the work for. it. That would have been lazy and unbecoming of a hero and she wouldn't stand for that at all. She followed Nyke out of the hangar and squinted her eyes as the sun hit her face. It was easy to lose track of how dark it was when indoors like that. It wasn't like the hangar was brightly lit. Only as much light as was needed was present inside, so the two of them were taken by surprise a little bit as they came out of the building. Her vision cleared up just in time to see the tour guide moving to another building. She looked around for a sign of what the buildings were for, but it didn't seem like there was on one this side. So when Nyke pointed out the other one, Kyla shrugged and started walking over to it. "Uh, sure. Let's check it out." She walked next to the girl and made her way over to it. The entrance was made up of glass doors framed in metal. It was clearly a building far more disposable than the hangar was with its metal door. This was something people were supposed to visit compared to the way the hangar was set up. It meant the thing inside wasn't functional and just for display. Walking up, she opened the door and held it open for Nyke to get through first. Then she followed the girl inside. Racks were mounted on the majority of the wall. They were collated between plaques that explained the history of the weapons near them and pictures of soldiers and officials the base held in high regard. Each rack was sectioned off in different categories. The largest of them all were the rifles. There were so many over the years that it could use a building by itself. Then there were the explosives, the ammunition and even a small section for swords used in both decorative and practical manners. It was an odd thing at first, but then Kyla remembered that even the American military had a couple of uniformed soldiers with swords. Them ever being used in battle was questionable, but their significance was still there. She placed her hands behind her back and glanced at Nyke. "Well, we've got quite a few choices, where would you like to start?" She questioned, wondering what Nyke had an interest in. ”

Demon Machine i no longer fear ending my hell Nyke followed Kyla into the building that was just across the wide street that vehicles used to travel around the base. She quickly made her way through the door and looked at the various racks and wall mounted weapons that were on display for them all. They were locked behind glass cases or ropes so that they wouldn't be bothered by guesting looking at or messing with them. The question of why there as such a thing on a military base popped into Nyke's head, but she quickly remembered what Kyla said before. She was on a base before when she was younger and her father was still in the military. That meant that there was a place for families of soldiers on the base. Part of her felt like that was a bad idea, but a military base was probably the most protected place in the country for civilians. Sure, a base would be a target, but it could also protect itself. And if an attack was incoming, an evacuation into a shelter was probably already planned and practiced by the residents. As for what weapons Nyke wanted to see first, that was simple.
"Explosives!"
They were the easiest thing to set up for the robots because they could make non-lethal versions of explosions pretty easily. Instead of a concussive force, they could have something like a dust or liquid explode to imitate being hit. Something like an itching powder or paint could be used to help students train and focus on getting better at something without risking their lives. When they reached that section, she looked over what was there. Grenades, rocket launchers and even old mortars that fired explosive shells were there. She glanced at them and stopped at a display of a mortar of World War 2 era design.
"These can be mounted also."
She pointed to the artillery and in the hopes of getting Kyla on the same idea that she had. With a mortar, they could have a long-range mobile threat different from the stationary things with the bigger cannons. She was still thinking along the lines of a fortress siege, but they could apply to any situation. Practice against long-range targets were important for students, especially Nyke. She was a pure melee fighter and she wasn't very fast. Being able to do well against ranged opponents was an important thing that she needed to learn.
"Make an itching bomb."
She added a suggestion of what kind of explosive they could use that wouldn't kill anyone. It was easy to focus on the deadliest of a mortar, but with her suggestion, they could start to get more creative. It was important to remember that they were making training tools and not trying to kill anyone. As students got stronger, the weapons could get stronger, but they still had to be designed to be non-lethal. It was easy to go overboard so a constant reminder to reign things back was important. They just needed some way to impeded or mark students that failed to dodge an attack or a way to slow them down when they suffered a status of some kind. Making it os that even support heroes could be helpful. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

You leave me here wondering if I'll ever know How much you care, or how much you don't If you're going to be somebody's last time, baby be mine. “ Kyla silently chuckled a bit at the immediate and oddly enthusiastic answer from Nyke. She already had it in her mind what she wanted to see as soon as they got in there. The explosives were an odd choice since they weren't trying to blow up their classmates, but as she explained things further, it made more sense. Kyla followed the small girl over to the mortar that was in the middle of the explosive's hall. "I can see that. There aren't a lot of long-range quirks, so practice against it could be tough. This will make it easier!" Kyla added on as she listened to the few words Nyke had to say. She kind of had to infer the rest, but using a mortar was primarily a long-range artillery option. That was surely what she meant by all of that. As for the itching powder, Kyla nodded. She didn't entirely like the idea of being covered in itchy powder, but that line of thought was exactly what made the idea a good one. They wanted the students to avoid the weapons and think of them as something that was best to not get hit by. Likewise, if they added in something like dye or paint, they could mark people that would be considered killed by an exercise. It was all something together. "That's a good idea. I doubt anyone wants to roll around in itching powder. It works well as an exploding puff I think. Just have to be careful with it and not use too much." She explained in hopes that they did just completely drown student sin an explosive of it. "What about melee weapons?" It was the opposite of a mortar, but just as important. Close combat was a part of fighting a number of students excelled at. And if they could set up something to test them there, that would be great. Obviously, real swords were out of the question. Kyla didn't want anyone to get choked to bits while training against a machine. But if they had blunt swords of varying strength or with attachment son them that would be cool. "We could have different shapes of blunt swords and stuff and add things to them." She said as she motioned at the hall that had a few on display. "Maybe heat some up or give them a little shock. Just for variety." As she spoke, Kyla motioned as if she was winging a sword. She didn't have any experience with the weapons in question, so it wasn't a skilled or realistic display, but she did her best to try and show what she was talking about. If they really wanted to get creative, an exploding sword would be really cool. Maybe something that puffed out itching powder when it hit something. It would be a cool way to simulate a quirk and make students think more about how they handled things. The to of them talking and playing around in the building didn't go unnoticed either. Off in the distance, a soldier watched the two girls amused and glad to see them take an interest in their nation's defense. ”

Demon Machine i no longer fear ending my hell The idea of creating an itching powder bomb seemed to go well with Kyla. It was hard to tell what she was thinking or how she felt about something unless she said so. For whatever reason she lacked the facial expressions and subtle movements that one would normally have. Was it because of her quirk? Nyke could only imagine how it would be for her when she already didn't speak very much. They were two sides of the same coin in that regard, but together they could communication something fully. It was easy to overlook it, but once she spoke to someone without facial expressions, she could really feel the lack of it. That said, Kyla was good as saying how she felt and what she thought. But just like Nyke, she had good ideas of her own and was better at explaining them. For her, she wanted machines with weapons that attack up close. clubs and blunt swords would do the trick, but they would be harder to program than the other things. The finesse needed to use a sword was very fine-tuned and they were going to have to rely a lot on help to get that down in a good way. Fortunately, Nyke had access to that kind of help. She chuckled a bit as Kyla waved her arms around as if she had a sword and nodded to her.
"It can be done."
Jut with those two weapons alone, they could match what was already available in class. The foam bats and airsoft guns were good precursors to the way the robots could be set up. And while there was an infinite number of possibilities in what they could make, those cardboard cutouts were a good start. To suddenly have something so advanced was a good thing and Nyke was glad to have it. For now, however, the two of them needed to keep the ideas flowing so they had something to work with and a plan to show to her father when they asked for help.
"Gunsword."
That one word was a cool concept too. Since they weren't going for true practicality, a sword and gun hybrid could be used with both of their ideas put together. This lead to the question of all the different ammunition types they could use with the various guns, cannons, and mortars they were going to put on these machines. Already the itching bomb and paint bombs were a thing, but what else could they use. Using the building's displays to help them, she walked over to another section with Kyla to look at the different types of them used by the guns. Most bullets were the same. Metal projectiles shaped to be aerodynamic and pierce the flesh. They weren't going for that exactly, but BBs or paintballs were a good replacement. The section also had defunct rockets and shells on display for the small handheld heavy weapons. She had to think about the different quirks the students had and how they could interfere with them using the weapons. Things they could temporarily blind a person or stick them to other objects.
"Flash bombs...putty bullets." Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ
